Vera became interested, and the moment her fingertips touched the wand, the golden patterns on the wand suddenly lit up.

At the same time, she felt a strong resonance between the magical circuits within her body and the wand.

The instant she gripped the wand, a dazzling golden light burst forth from its tip, illuminating the entire shop. Countless golden specks danced in the air, slowly spinning and disappearing into the void.

Ollivander's eyes widened: "Amazing! This wand has never reacted to any wizard since Gregorich gave it to me!"

Vera stared in astonishment at the wand in her hand. The yew wood felt cool and smooth to the touch, and the golden patterns on the wand were exactly the same as the magic circuits that were faintly visible under her skin.

It was as if... it was an extension of her body.

“Yew wands grant their wielder the power to control life and death, while Thestral tail feathers…” Ollivander’s voice carried a hint of awe, “These wand cores are extremely rare, and only wizards who have witnessed death can unleash their full potential.”

Vera's grip on the wand tightened slightly.

She did indeed witness death—not only the fatal car accident in the original owner Vera's memory, but also her own death in a previous life.

Ollivander's gaze shifted back and forth between Vera and the wand, his silver eyes gleaming with a complex light: "Grigovich once said that this wand contains ancient magic, and it does not easily choose its master; only wizards with special talents can wield it."

Vera gently stroked the flowing golden patterns on the wand, feeling a warm power flowing from the core to her fingertips, circulating within her body like blood.

This wand was born to be hers.

"Thank you, and please also convey my gratitude to Mr. Grigovich," Vera said softly, taking out seven gold coins she had prepared from her pocket and placing them on the counter.

At least, she doesn't have to learn from some noseless person to dig up the wizard's ancestral graves.

Chapter Five: Harley Potter

After paying, she slowly pushed her wheelchair out of the shop.

However… as soon as she stepped outside, she saw a large, conspicuous figure standing out in the crowd.

Is this Hagrid? He is indeed as conspicuous as I imagined.

So the person next to him must be the famous savior...Miss Harley Potter?

Looking directly at the bespectacled girl next to Hagrid, Vera felt a little dizzy for the first time, and even wondered if she had mistaken someone for someone else.

She was a noticeably thin girl, wearing overly loose old clothes, with her long black hair tied messily behind her head, and a pair of round-framed glasses wrapped with tape around her nose, beneath which were a pair of emerald green eyes.

What's most striking is, of course, the lightning bolt-shaped scar on her forehead, which is faintly visible in the sunlight.

She was looking up at Hagrid, her face full of curiosity.

Vera blinked, making sure she wasn't seeing things.

Harry Potter has become Harley Potter?

This worldview-shattering realization made her grip on the wand tighten slightly as she watched the petite girl from afar, seated in her wheelchair.

Harley Potter—the savior of this world—is actually a girl.

Vera's mind raced as she pushed her wheelchair into the crowd, secretly observing Harley and Hagrid.

“We need to get the money first, at Gringotts over there,” Hagrid’s booming voice came through.

"Hmm... Hagrid, who are those people?" Harley answered softly, looking up cautiously as she passed several wizards hurrying by.

Vera noticed that when Harley's gaze swept over those people, she subconsciously shrank her shoulders.

This wary yet curious demeanor is quite different from Harry Potter's one of complete immersion in the new world in the original story.

“Oh, they look like Aurors from the Ministry of Magic. Never mind them,” Hagrid replied gruffly. “We need to hurry and get the money; we have a lot to buy today.”

Vera watched them thoughtfully as they walked up the snow-white marble steps of Gringotts, not following them immediately.

The Blake family is very wealthy, and she has enough money on her to make today's purchases.

Therefore, there is no need to follow suit.

Having quickly made this decision, Vera turned her wheelchair onto another side road, intending to buy other necessities first.

The staff at Flourish and Blotts enthusiastically recommended all the textbooks a freshman would need and even thoughtfully helped her store the heavy books under her wheelchair using a seamless expansion spell.

The owner of the crucible shop selected for her a standard-sized pewter crucible, a set of crystal vials, a telescope, and a brass balance.

At the pharmacy, Vera also bought some basic potion ingredients, as well as some medicine to relieve her spinal soreness.

As she passed the ice cream shop, she saw the owner look at her again, but this time, he did not approach her.

Then, Vera went to a pet store.

As soon as the wheelchair was pushed inside, the sounds and smells of various animals rushed towards us.

Vera's gaze swept over the various owls, toads, and cats in the cage, finally settling on a corner where a silver-grey long-haired kitten was curled up, watching her warily with its amber eyes.

“That cat…” Vera pointed to the corner, to the kitten whose hair color was very similar to hers.

The shop owner was a long-faced witch. She walked over quickly, and her eyes flickered when she saw Vera's wheelchair, but she quickly regained her composure. "That cat has some cat-raccoon blood, which is very rare."

She lowered her voice, "However... it has been here for a month, refusing to let anyone approach."

Vera pushed the wheelchair closer to the cage, and the kitten immediately turned its head, arched its back warily, and let out a threatening growl.

But when she reached out her hand, it suddenly quieted down, tilted its head to look at her, and even tacitly allowed her to get closer, raising its head to rub against her palm.

“It seems to be of interest to you!” the shopkeeper exclaimed.

As the kitten's tail gently brushed against Vera's wrist, her amber pupils narrowed to slits in the dimly lit shop.

Vera smiled and said without hesitation, "I want it."

After saying that, he quickly paid the money while discreetly observing the kitten's reaction.

The little creature had already snuggled up on her lap as if it were old friends, its paws hooking onto her robe and its tail gently wrapping around her wrist, looking exceptionally dependent on her.

"It seems it has chosen you too," the shop owner said with a smile. "Would you like to name it?"

Vera stroked its smooth fur: "Nox."

It means the goddess of the night.

Vera gently stroked Knox's fur with her fingers, and the little guy comfortably squinted his amber eyes, making gurgling sounds in his throat.

Unable to suppress a laugh, Vera was about to turn her wheelchair around and leave the pet store when, just as she moved to the doorway, a huge body suddenly squeezed in from outside.

"We need an owl—oh! Watch out!"

With a rough cry of surprise from Hagrid, Vera instinctively tried to dodge, but due to the narrowness of the shop behind her, she was unable to avoid the sudden collision.

The wheelchair slid backward after being hit, and Vera instinctively tensed up, instinctively grabbing the armrests.

In an instant, she heard Knox bristle and arch his back on her lap, letting out a sharp hiss.

A nimble figure flashed past Hagrid from behind, quickly catching the wheelchair that was about to tip over.

When Vera finally regained her balance and looked up, she was caught off guard and met a pair of panicked emerald green eyes.

The girl's hands were gripping the wheelchair armrests tightly, her glasses were askew, and her bangs were disheveled, revealing the lightning bolt-shaped scar on her forehead.

"I'm so sorry! Are you alright?" Harley apologized hastily, her green eyes wide open behind her askew glasses. "We didn't notice you were here..."

Vera glanced at the helpless savior and almost immediately noticed the tiny scars on his hands, which were steadily supporting the wheelchair.

It's clear that this gender-swapped version of the savior wasn't treated much better by the Dursleys than in the original story.

It might even be worse because she's a girl.

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry!" Just as she was about to observe further, Hagrid's bearded face turned bright red, abruptly interrupting her thoughts. "Young lady, it's all my fault for being so reckless—"

"It's alright." Vera could only hastily avert her gaze and respond softly, while gently pressing down on the agitated Knox on her lap to reassure him. "We're fine."

She can't ask for too much from a half-giant.

Chapter Six: The Savior is Too Cute

Even after she finished answering, Harley's hand was still belatedly resting on the armrest of her wheelchair.

Noticing Vera's gaze, she seemed to realize her rudeness and quickly let go of his hand, taking a step back and almost stepping on Hagrid's boots.

“I…I am Harley Potter,” she stammered as she introduced herself. “This is Rupert Hagrid.”

Vera noticed that Harry's gaze lingered on her numb legs for a moment before quickly shifting away, as if afraid of offending her.

She raised an eyebrow and then subtly sized up the girl in front of her.

Upon closer inspection, Harley was even smaller than she had imagined; the oversized old T-shirt hanging on her body looked like a sack.

The only thing that caught my eye was its bright, green eyes, which were even brighter than I had imagined, like two leaves pierced by sunlight.

Vera's eyelashes trembled, as if burned by such pure gaze. She lowered her eyes slightly and gently stroked Knox's back.

The kitten gradually relaxed on her lap, but its amber eyes remained warily fixed on Hagrid.

Unexpectedly, Harley suddenly crouched down and looked Vera straight in the eye: "Your cat is beautiful. What's its name?"

This action surprised Vera. She looked at Harley... The child simply squatted down naturally, just like any other child her age, looking at her and her cat without any prejudice.

“Knox,” Vera answered softly, her fingertips unconsciously tracing the tip of Knox’s ear, “is the Roman word for ‘night’.”

After she finished speaking, she noticed that Harley's eyes lit up because of this explanation.

"That's so cool!" Harley exclaimed softly. "Can I touch it?"

Knox pricked up its ears warily, but with Vera's tacit approval and gentle stroking, it sniffed at Harley's outstretched fingers.

When Harley's finger touched the top of its head, the kitten suddenly sneezed, spitting out tiny, shimmering magical patterns.

"Merlin's beard!" Hagrid exclaimed. "This little fellow is no ordinary man!"

Harley laughed with delight, "It's magical!"

She looked up at Vera, her eyes sparkling with pure joy, "Just as cool as you!"

Vera was taken aback.

This was the first time in this world that she had been described with this word.

It's neither "pitiful" nor "a pity".

"...Are you here to buy school supplies too?" Vera changed the subject, slowly moving her wheelchair.

The narrow shop forced Hagrid to squeeze sideways, making him look like a small mountain behind the two girls.

“Yes!” Harley exclaimed excitedly, jogging to catch up with Vera’s wheelchair. “I just found out I’m a witch! Hagrid brought me to buy wands and textbooks—oh, and we just went to Gringotts too!”

She suddenly lowered her voice: "Actually, at first, I didn't even know what Gringotts was."

Vera's lips curled up slightly: "The Fairy Bank, the Black family's vault is also in there."

As soon as she finished speaking, Hagrid's expression suddenly changed, and his lips under his beard moved: "Black? You mean... you're a Black family child?"

“Yes, I am Vera Black,” Vera calmly stated her name.

Immediately afterwards, she saw Hagrid's expression turn strange as he looked at her.

Vera was not surprised by Hagrid's reaction—given the Black family's current reputation and Sirius's continued imprisonment in Azkaban, it was perfectly normal for Hagrid, a staunch supporter of Dumbledore, to be bothered by her.

She slightly raised her chin, looking directly into Hagrid's eyes: "Is there a problem, Mr. Rubeus Hagrid?"

Hagrid's beard twitched, looking a little flustered: "N-nothing, Harley, hurry up and pick out your birthday present."

Clearly, Hagrid didn't know how to tell Harry the secret that her parents' deaths were due to Sirius Black's leak that Voldemort had come to their door.

Harley keenly sensed the tension in the air. She looked at Hagrid with a puzzled expression, then turned to Vera: "Is there something wrong with the surname Black?"

Vera lowered her eyelashes and gently ran her fingers through Knox's fur: "It's nothing, it's just that the family history is a bit complicated."

For some reason, she didn't want to make a strange impression on this naive savior on their first meeting.

“Every family has secrets.” Vera looked up and gave Harley a faint smile. “For example, the Potter family is one of the oldest pure-blood families.”

Harley's eyes widened. "Really? I had no idea! My aunt and uncle have never told me anything about my parents!"

Vera noticed that Hagrid's expression had become more uneasy, and his large fingers were twisting together. "Uh, Harley, let's not chat for now, we're short on time."

“Oh, right!” Harley exclaimed, as if waking from a dream, but her gaze remained fixed on Vera. “Would you like to come along? I mean, if you don’t have anything else planned—”

“No need, Miss Potter,” Vera said, her voice calm and even. “I’m used to doing things alone. Enjoy your shopping.”

After saying that, she pushed her wheelchair and turned to leave without hesitation.

She could feel Harley's gaze following her until the pet shop door closed behind her, followed by Hagrid's obvious sigh of relief.
