"President Cheng, we meet again, and Miss Nagasaki is here too." Tang Yu gave the two of them a cryptic smile.
Cheng Fei and Nagasaki Asuna sat down in front of her and casually ordered two coffees from the menu handed to them by the waiter.
When the drinks arrived, Cheng Fei stirred them casually and looked at the other person, "Reporter Tang, tell me, what explanation do you have for the Twin Towers incident?"
"Explanation?" Tang Yu looked genuinely puzzled. "Didn't I come here to interview about President Cheng's quantitative fund?"
"Let's skip the roundabout talk and get to the avalanche, the Blue Foundation, and the cyborgs. Let's talk about those things," Cheng Fei said indifferently.
Tang Yu smiled, resting her chin on her hand. "I've heard of Avalanche, it's a game company. I've also heard of Deep Blue, it's an environmental foundation. But what is a cyborg?"
"Someone like Ding Sheng." Cheng Fei took a sip of coffee nonchalantly, not even glancing at her.
Nagasaki Asuna watched her silently, her bright eyes clearly reflecting her expression.
“I understand, but they usually refer to themselves as… apostles. Mr. Cheng, you didn’t know that?” Tang Yu asked curiously.
"Apostles? Evangelion? They're from the world of anime?" Cheng Fei looked genuinely bewildered.
"President Cheng, you really don't know?" Tang Yu crossed her hands on the table, leaned forward to observe the young man, as if trying to see through him.
"I don't know." The boy met her gaze, then looked her up and down. "Are you also an apostle?"
"I'm a normal person," Tang Yu said, straightening her chest.
Cheng Fei tried hard to see any traces of cyborgism in her, but failed.
"Mr. Cheng, are you a normal person?" Tang Yu also looked the boy up and down.
"Of course I am, the real deal." Cheng Fei rolled up his sleeves, revealing his muscular arms.
"So how did you defeat the Apostle? I'd love to know," Tang Yu said immediately.
“Even apostles aren’t invincible; there’s always a way. Luckily, I’ve trained in hand-to-hand combat, and my marksmanship is pretty good.” The boy said seriously.
Tang Yu stared at him for a few seconds, then suddenly clapped her hands and laughed, as if she had heard a very funny joke. "President Cheng, if you can defeat an apostle just by practicing combat and marksmanship, then it can only mean that you are not a human being from Earth."
"So there really are aliens?" Cheng Fei looked at her.
"Mr. Cheng, that was just an example," Tang Yu said, spreading his hands.
A brief silence fell over the table as the two locked eyes.
"Reporter Tang, let's get straight to the point. Who exactly are you, and what are your goals?" Cheng Fei changed his tone.
"President Cheng, I'll ask you the same question. I'd also like to know who you are and what your purpose is." Tang Yu leaned back in her chair, her arms crossed in front of her chest.
Cheng Fei thought for a moment, "I killed two apostles, and you're still willing to meet with me calmly, which means you're not with them?"
"Yes and no." Tang Yu stared at the boy thoughtfully.
Cheng Fei observed her expression and said, "Let me make it clear first, I know absolutely nothing about what happened between you two."
"Could it be that President Cheng is really an alien?" Tang Yu asked with a puzzled look, scanning the two people in front of her.
"Only aliens can rival the Apostles?" Cheng Fei rubbed his chin.
"Otherwise, is there any technology in this world more advanced than that possessed by the Apostles?" Tang Yu asked matter-of-factly.
“That’s true,” Cheng Fei nodded, then paused. “So where did the Apostles’ technology come from?”
"President Cheng, you won't tell me anything, and you expect me to tell you? That's not fair, is it?" Tang Yu stared at him.
The boy smacked his lips. "How about I join your organization? Look at me, I'm pretty strong, I can even beat an apostle."
"Mr. Cheng, are you Batman or Iron Man?" Tang Yu asked, even more puzzled.
Cheng Fei was taken aback for a moment, "You can interpret it that way too."
"Has Academy City really developed some kind of secret technology, just like the legends say?" Tang Yu pondered.
"Nothing is more secret than an apostle, is it?"
“No, if that were the case, Song Xuejun wouldn’t have died so easily.” Tang Yu shook his head again.
"So why did the Apostles come to Academy City? Is there some treasure here?" Cheng Fei stared at her again.
Tang Yu hesitated for a moment, as if carefully choosing her words, "President Cheng, if Academy City really has a treasure, it is the city itself."
"What do you mean?" Cheng Fei suddenly felt he understood something.
"The literal meaning." A ringtone interrupted Tang Yu's speech. She picked up her phone and looked at it. "President Cheng, I'm sorry, I have to catch my train. Let's stop here for today. Anyway, you have nothing to reveal."
As the female reporter spoke, she stood up to pack her things, then looked at the young man and said, "Mr. Cheng, if you're interested in all of this, you should go and explore the corridor developed by Avalanche, if you really don't know anything about it."
After saying that, she didn't give the boy a chance to speak again, picked up her bag and left quickly.
Asuna Nagasaki watched this scene unfold. "Cheng Fei, are you really not considering arresting her and using torture to extract a confession?"
"Nana, did you catch Shen Xi's infection?" The boy shook his head helplessly and stood up as well. "Let's go."
At this moment, the waiter quickly came to the two of them and asked, "Sir, would you like cash or a QR code?"
"Three cups? Tsk." Cheng Fei looked at the bill and realized he had miscalculated.
After leaving the café, the boy took Nagasaki Asuna and drove slowly back to Guang'an Street, exchanging information about their conversation along the way.
"So she's genuinely curious about us?" Cheng Fei thought as he drove.
“Yeah, I feel like she’s the same as Cheng Fei. You both want to know each other’s identity and purpose, but neither of you can easily reveal it, so you’ve been probing each other for a long time without any results.” Nagasaki Asuna nodded.
"There have been some results. At least we know why the cyborgs—no, why the apostles—attacked the Twin Towers," Cheng Fei said thoughtfully.
"Hey, why?"
"I'll go back and talk to Shen Xi about it."
“I understand, but…” Nagasaki Asuna nodded obediently, pursed her lips, and nervously curled the ends of her hair with her fingertips.
"Just what?"
"Could we go back a little later?" The girl glanced at the boy cautiously, gently stroking the hem of her pleated skirt. The symmetrical, snow-white lines beneath the skirt pressed tightly together, rubbing against each other.
Cheng Fei glanced at her and said, "You vixen, hopeless."
"I'm not a fox spirit, I'm a cat." The girl's voice was soft and sweet, her face innocent and naive.
"Then I'll go back later. I should have driven the GLS; this is really too cramped." The boy regretted it.
"It's okay, cats are very agile, they can squeeze in no matter how tight it is." Nagasaki Asuna lowered her head, a smile curving her lips.
So when they got back to Guang'an Street, the Panamera was parked on a secluded side of the road with the windows closed, and it didn't move for a long time.
Stepping out of the elevator on the 36th floor, Nagasaki Asuna was still busy fixing her hair and clothes to make herself look normal.
Cheng Fei opened the door, and Shen Xi, dressed in her pajamas, was taking yogurt from the refrigerator.
"Teacher Shen, we're back!" The boy opened his arms enthusiastically.
Shen Xi ignored him and walked to the entrance. She looked down at Nagasaki Asuna, stared at her for a second, then frowned slightly and turned away with a look of disgust. "Your buttons are all crooked, you vixen."
738. Cheng Fei believes the purpose of the apostles is...
"Huh? Really?" Nagasaki Asuna looked down at her chest, which was covered by her school uniform shirt, blinked, and looked puzzled.
"Nana, the button is indeed crooked," Cheng Fei casually reminded her.
On the lower half of the girl's full and proud figure, one button was clearly misaligned.
"I can't see very well down there, hehehe~" The girl lowered her head and stuck out her little tongue, revealing a playful smile.
Shen Xi, who had walked away, took a deep breath and inserted the straw into the yogurt.
Leaving aside the minor incident, after Nagasaki Asuna finished buttoning up, the three of them went to the study.
"So what's the situation?" Shen Xi asked expressionlessly, biting her straw.
"Listen to it yourself." Cheng Fei took out a recorder and played his conversation with Tang Yu.
After hearing this, Shen Xi pinched her chin and frowned slightly, "Apostle..."
"Teacher Shen, what do you think? Could it be that the other side really is one of our own?" The boy shrugged. "Does your Protoss Queen like to go to other civilizations to recruit followers?"
"How would I know such a thing? Besides, we can't confirm that the apostles mentioned here are the apostles of the Protoss." Shen Xi gave him a light kick.
"I'm wondering if there are bad guys among the Celestial Queens?" Nagasaki Asuna tapped her chin with her fingertip. "If the cyborgs are really apostles of a certain queen, wouldn't that queen be condoning her subordinates' indiscriminate killing of innocent people?"
"Uh, Nana, just a heads up, our Queen isn't exactly a good person either. The Protoss Queen is a cruel and cold-blooded creature." Cheng Fei said calmly.
"Huh, it seems so?" Nagasaki Asuna tilted her head.
"Enough with the slander. I have never tolerated your indiscriminate killing of innocent people." Shen Xi said unhappily.
"I hope so." The boy clasped his hands together in silent mourning.
This made Shen Xi squint and kick him.
Nagasaki Asuna thought for a moment, "By the way, what did Reporter Tang mean when she said Cheng Fei was Batman or Iron Man?"
"It's easy to understand. She thinks that I defeated the Apostles as an ordinary human because of the advanced technology I acquired with my money." Cheng Fei shrugged.
“Just an ordinary human.” Shen Xi scoffed.
"So, it seems she's been imagining quite a lot." Nagasaki Asuna nodded obediently, then thought for a moment, "So, what exactly is the purpose of the Angels appearing in Academy City?"
"Teacher Shen, I have a question for this young lady from Academy City." Cheng Fei looked to the other side.
"First of all, I'm not some rich girl." Shen Xi said with a displeased expression.
"Yes, yes, so may I ask, as an ordinary person, Miss Shen, how many directors are on the Academy City Board of Directors?"
"There are seven seats, including the chairman's seat." Shen Xi gave a disdainful look, as if to say, "I'm still not too happy, but I'll answer anyway."
"Then the board of directors won't be re-elected. Who can become a director?" Cheng Fei continued to ask.
"Of course it will change. It's a three-year term. To become a director, you either need to have enough shares in Academy City and the support of a majority of shareholders, or the principals of several top universities are eligible to nominate you. In addition, the head of the security department is automatically guaranteed a seat." Shen Xi said softly as she pondered.
Cheng Fei snapped his fingers. "So, if I were rich right now, could I just buy a seat?"
"What do you want?" Shen Xi asked suspiciously.
"What's with that expression, Teacher Shen? I have no interest in that, thank you." Cheng Fei's expression hardened.
"Even if you wanted to buy it, you couldn't easily do so. Although the board of directors serves a three-year term, they usually get re-elected unless there are major changes." The girl said with disdain.
"That's right." Cheng Fei clapped his hands. "Now that a board member has died, wouldn't that be considered a major upheaval?"
Shen Xi and Nagasaki Asuna exchanged a glance.
"So the Apostle's goal is to seize a seat on the board of directors?" Nagasaki Asuna covered her mouth.
"Song Xuejun is dead. When will a new board member be elected?" Cheng Fei looked at Shen Xi, curious.
"As far as I know, the regulations stipulate that a by-election will be held within two months," Shen Xi said, recalling the event.
"But who will the Apostles send to run for board of directors?" Nagasaki Asuna wondered.
"It might be the Yuan family. Let's wait and see," Cheng Fei said, shrugging.
"Oh, I see?" Nagasaki Asuna looked as if she had just realized something.
"Of course, this is just my guess. Tang Yu said that the most valuable thing is Academy City itself. If you want to get Academy City, you have to get involved in the board of directors first. What do you think, Professor Shen?"
“Although they are all Cheng Feiyu’s conspiracy theories, they are not without merit.” Shen Xi nodded slightly.
"Then can we run for board member?" Nagasaki Asuna suddenly asked.
"Nana, let's think about this when real technology is successful." Cheng Fei felt sweat on his forehead.
……
Meanwhile, in a luxury hotel somewhere in Academy City.
Yuan Shijie, dressed smartly, stepped out of the elevator, straightened his collar at the suite door, and knocked.
A barely perceptible, wary gaze swept over him through the peephole. After a brief silence, the door opened.
The seemingly ordinary woman waited for Yuan Shijie to enter, observed the corridor, and then closed the door.
Then, a strange sound, like the scraping of blades, came. One of the woman's arms split open, revealing a sharp weapon shaped like a mantis's claw. The sharp blade reflected a cold light under the lamplight and was immediately aimed at the back of Yuan Shijie's head.
