Even with my energy and quick recovery, I still slept an extra hour and a half compared to usual. It's clear that staying up late can be quite harmful to the body; I can't do that again.
The boy sent a message in the advanced discussion group.
Cheng Fei: "Good morning, is anyone awake? Shall we have lunch together?"
Nagasaki Asuna: "Cheng Fei, you're sleeping so well. We've all eaten, are you logging on now?"
Cheng Fei: "Wait for me."
The boy went downstairs, ate a quick bite, and returned to his rented room to put on his stealth helmet.
……
In the small square where the fountain never stops, two figures, one tall and one short, are observing the pool together.
"Where's Shen Xi?" Cheng Fei asked, looking at the empty bench.
“She couldn’t wait any longer and went to the town ahead first.” Nagasaki Asuna turned around.
"I'm impressed by this internet-addicted girl." The boy shook his head. "Little Yi, let's leap forward."
“Yes, Your Excellency.” Isena saluted with utmost loyalty.
Cheng Fei and Nagasaki Asuna entered the cargo hold, and the atmosphere between them was quiet for a moment.
A pink-haired girl in a white dress threw herself into the boy's arms, rubbing her face against him, "Cheng Fei, Nana missed you so much..."
"Idiot, at least wait until the jump is over." The boy hugged the girl who was pressing against him and ruffled her hair.
The next second, the cargo hold began to shake violently.
Nagasaki Asuna remained quiet until everything was over. The girl knelt on the bed, frantically absorbing the antidote. After a long while, she raised her head, her clear eyes becoming misty, and gently bit her lip. "Cheng Fei... shall we go find her later?"
"Can't we log off first? Tomorrow's next week." The boy pinched her cheek.
"I want it offline, and I want it here too." Nagasaki Asuna stared at the boy intently, nuzzling her face against his palm, tilting her head and whispering, "Cheng Fei, don't I look good right now? Which pink-haired character do you like, Cheng Fei? Nana can cosplay that, okay?"
"let me see."
"Which one? Yuzuriha Inori? Nana can go back and wear the goldfish costume to show Cheng Fei."
"Nana Cat Bar," the boy said seriously.
"Hey, what does Nana Cat look like?" The girl blinked her innocent and naive eyes.
"What do you think?" The boy gazed at her face.
“I think it is…” the girl tapped her chin with her index finger, “a proactive and obedient cat that is pampered by its owner.”
"almost."
"Okay~" The girl smiled happily, kneeling like a cat with her hands on her master's chest, her voice becoming extremely soft and sweet.
The young man gently stroked her tender and healing smile, "Nana."
"Ok?"
"Sing me a song." The boy ran his fingers through her ankle-length pink hair, gripping it tightly without any pity.
"Eh, are you really going to sing?" Nagasaki Asuna blinked and tilted her head.
"Yes, a cappella."
"What would you like to hear, Cheng Fei?"
"You can sing anything you want, but you have to keep singing. You can only stop when I give permission." The boy lifted her up and then put her down again.
"Okay~ As long as Cheng Fei likes to listen... Nana will try her best to keep singing." Nagasaki Asuna's sweet and melodious voice trembled slightly as she squinted her eyes to recall the lyrics and began to sing softly, albeit intermittently.
312. Shen Xi borrows books
The wind chimes tinkled crisply as a cool, silver-haired girl entered the Light and Magic Workshop located on the edge of town.
Her small nostrils twitched as she smelled the gunpowder and turpentine in the air. Carefully avoiding the wooden crates filled with gear parts on the floor in her white boots, she scanned the various weapons and tools hanging on the walls and noticed that they were all uniformly inlaid with some kind of white crystal.
Hearing footsteps, the disheveled old man with silver hair behind the counter looked up from his books, adjusted his monocle, and smiled. "Little one, this isn't a place for half-elves."
"Why shouldn't I have come? I was just browsing around." Shen Xi frowned slightly.
"Of course you can go shopping, but I'm worried you might get hurt. If your knight comes looking for you, I can't afford to pay for it." The old man sighed and shook his head, continuing to read.
"I just want to know what Light Magic Technology is," Shen Xi said, looking at him.
"Let your knight ask that question," the old man said with a smile.
“I’m all alone, I don’t have any knights.” Shen Xi’s gaze swept across the workshop.
The old man looked up and raised an eyebrow. "That's quite unusual. With a half-elf as healthy as you, I'm sure there are plenty of nobles willing to take you in as their familiar."
"I am who I am, I don't need to be anyone's familiar." Shen Xi raised her chin.
"You've got guts, a rare find for a little guy like you." The old man chuckled and shook his head, rubbing his lower back as he opened the counter partition and headed towards the back door of the workshop. "But half-elves don't depend on humans, so life isn't easy for them."
The old man's words made Shen Xi's face unhappy. After the old man disappeared, she walked to the counter and picked up the book that the old man had been looking at to examine it.
The girl paused for a second, then expressionlessly stuffed the book into her handbag and left the workshop with swift steps.
The girl walked out of the workshop, pulled up the hood of her gray cloak, sized herself up, and ran to the outskirts of town. She found a large rock, sat down, and took out a book to bury herself in reading.
After a long while, a hand suddenly landed on the girl's shoulder.
Her eyes turned cold, and she reached back to touch her staff.
"Reading books while playing games, just like my teacher Shen." The familiar boyish voice rang out.
The girl released her staff and looked up, her face still cold. "Hand."
Cheng Fei immediately withdrew his hand.
Asuna Nagasaki sat down next to the two of them as if nothing had happened, her fair and shapely legs pressed tightly together, her head down staring at the white ankle boots on her feet.
"Professor Shen, what are you looking at?" Cheng Fei lifted the cover. "Light Magic Dynamics...where did you get that from?"
"Borrowed." Shen Xi stared at the book, her tone flat.
"Are there still public libraries in this day and age?" the boy asked in surprise.
“No, I borrowed it from a Light Magic Workshop.” Shen Xi lowered her eyes.
The boy stared at her profile, suspicious. "How did you borrow it?"
"I left the book on the counter, and when the owner disappeared, I borrowed it." Shen Xi's tone was completely flat.
The boy paused for a second, then said, "Normally, this would be called stealing, right?"
Shen Xi narrowed her eyes and suddenly kicked him angrily. "Anyway, I'll return it immediately after I'm done reading it, unlike some people who take over-the-knee socks from my closet to satisfy their disgusting and filthy desires that can't be exposed, and then don't say a word for a week afterward."
"I'm sorry, Teacher Shen. I was being presumptuous. Please continue reading." The boy immediately became honest.
Nagasaki Asuna, standing beside him, remained silent, her gaze wandering, her legs pressed even tighter together.
"By the way, Isena has made a new discovery," Shen Xi said as she looked at the document. "Now, besides her, there are two other sources managing the Maze."
"Is that so? Aside from avalanches..." Cheng Fei pondered, raising an eyebrow, "Out-of-control machinery?"
"They are the rebels." Shen Xi nodded.
"Could it be the Black Umbrella? Is it possible to reach an agreement with her, or persuade her to surrender?" The boy rubbed his chin.
"Stop dreaming. The rebels are caused by a deep-seated, infectious mental disturbance. It's a fight to the death, and they can't communicate." Shen Xi shook his head.
"I remember now, so what exactly is this so-called deep-seated mental disturbance?" Cheng Fei pondered. "The description is too abstract. Can you be more specific and materialistic?"
"If they had understood, the Protoss wouldn't have been so badly injured."
"Surely you don't know anything about it? With the Protoss's intelligence, they must have done some research during the resistance." The boy looked at her profile.
"I don't know yet." Shen Xi frowned slightly.
"Okay, whatever." Cheng Fei put his hands behind his head. "Anyway, it's a problem that hundreds of empresses can't solve, so it's none of our business."
"As expected, Cheng Feiyu is as unambitious as ever, only good at backing down." Shen Xi sneered.
“Teacher Shen, how can this be called lacking ambition? I am simply acting out of a pragmatic realist mindset, rationally assessing my own abilities and objective conditions. As the ancients said, times create heroes…”
"Shut up, you're just making excuses for your timidity and fear of failure." Shen Xi said coldly.
“It’s alright. I don’t object to your idealistic and enterprising thinking. I support you unconditionally in spirit and will do my best to support you in action.” The boy lowered his head.
"This is what you're supposed to do in your life, don't just talk the talk." Shen Xi turned her face away.
"The way you two date is really amazing; most people could never learn that," Nagasaki Asuna remarked with great interest.
"Nonsense is one thing, but if you're a vixen and have nothing to say, then shut up." Shen Xi glared at her.
"Yes, Your Majesty." Nagasaki Asuna responded sweetly, swallowed lightly, and swayed her long, slender legs in white ankle boots back and forth, seemingly in a good mood.
Shen Xi narrowed her eyes as she stared at the book.
Not long after, Shen Xi closed the book and stood up.
"Teacher Shen, you finished reading such a big book so quickly?" Cheng Fei asked in surprise.
"No, it's just that now that everyone's here, let's hurry into the city to gather intelligence." Shen Xi put the book into her satchel and pulled up the hood of her cloak.
"Why do we have to act like thieves?" the boy asked, puzzled.
"Otherwise, we'll be watched wherever we go," Shen Xi frowned.
“That’s true. Our hair is like that of half-elves, and our figures are more mature than those of half-elves. The locals will probably find it strange.” Nagasaki Asuna twirled her long pink hair.
"Nana, your figure is indeed a bit too mature..."
"Cheng Fei." Shen Xi's voice was utterly calm.
"Of course, the same goes for Teacher Shen. If what Leia said is true, you are much taller than a half-elf, and like Nana, you had a natural birth. At least personally, I think you are a beautiful girl with a great figure, just a different type in some aspects." The boy spoke quickly and seriously.
"Shut up."
"Yes."
Nagasaki Asuna blinked, first looking down at her own waist and hip curves, then turning her gaze to Shen Xi, confirming that the silver-haired girl was surprisingly not inferior in this regard.
"Nana, let's go." The boy who had already walked ahead with Shen Xi turned back and called to her.
"Okay." Nagasaki Asuna replied, puffing out one cheek, giving a soft hum, and following after him with her hands behind her back, chest out, and head held high.
313. Shen Xi borrowed Cheng Fei's money; she stole it.
Amid the curious gazes of the local residents, the three stepped onto the quiet street paved with bluestone slabs.
"Sir, would you like to buy bread? Freshly baked wheat bread." At the entrance of a shop by the roadside, where the aroma of baking wafted out, a middle-aged woman glanced at Shen Xi and Nagasaki Asuna before warmly greeting Cheng Fei.
The boy declined the offer and glanced at the road sign. "Yongquan Town... By the way, Teacher Shen, have you noticed that we naturally understand the local writing and language?"
“Cheng Fei.” Shen Xi looked straight ahead.
"what?"
"Have you noticed that you can breathe naturally here?"
"That's true, I hadn't noticed before."
"Ha, as expected of Cheng Feiyu's keen observation skills."
"Teacher Shen, putting aside the composition of air, isn't understanding words more amazing?"
"The stand-in has a built-in module for interpreting natural language, which makes it difficult to understand?"
"Okay, Protoss Technology is really impressive. I have another question."
"what?"
"Where did you get your cloak?" Cheng Fei looked Shen Xi up and down.
"I bought it." Shen Xi said expressionlessly.
