Mystery: The Witch of Desire

"Yes, that's right, we are best friends."
"Alright, now tell me about Mr. Teyvat's cargo."
Reeve smiled gently and continued to patiently guide Meyer.
Meyer obediently continued:
“I heard a while ago in Bayam that several cargo ships from Teyvat went to the southern continent, apparently to trade mummy powder and timber. Judging by the time, they should be returning to Tingen soon.”
Reeve continued in a seductive tone:
"Could you tell me how many of his cargo ships there are, and on what specific day they will arrive in Tingen?"
Meyer replied blankly:
"I don't know. It could be a week, or it could be two weeks. Anything at sea is unpredictable, especially the dangerous sea route to the southern continent. It wouldn't be surprising if those ships never came back."
Reeve nodded in understanding; the sea is not only isolated from information but also fraught with danger, and everything is subject to change.
He said goodbye to Meyer and prepared to talk to other people to see if he could get more information.
Just then, a male figure silently approached—he was around thirty years old, wearing a baseball cap, not particularly tall but upright, with slightly broad shoulders, and his hair and eyebrows were a unique burnt yellow, as if kissed by flames, which made his deep blue eyes even brighter and sharper. His facial features were not very defined, as if he had some Intis characteristics.
The man sized up Reeves a few times, then said with a smile:
"You have a very good ability to persuade people. Even I, an observer, was almost convinced by you."
Reeve turned around in shock, adopting a defensive posture, and gripped the pistol in his pocket with one hand.
"This man recognized me as the instigator!"
However, when Levi saw the man's true face, he was even more shocked:
His face is the same as the photo on that £3000 arrest warrant:
Blazing Danitz.
"Why would a notorious pirate appear in Tingen City, right in front of me?"
Levi pondered quickly, a sense of danger rising in his heart. He believed that a pistol alone would certainly not be enough to deal with the pirate with a bounty of 3000 pounds. So, he reached into his pocket for a dagger, ready to stab himself in the chest and pray for power. Now that he had reached Sequence 8, theoretically he could pray for the power of Sequence 6 from the mirror.
Danitz adjusted his baseball cap, which covered most of his face, revealing a hearty smile:
"Don't be nervous, I mean no harm. Perhaps we can find a secluded place to talk?"
Despite the other party's goodwill, Levi remained vigilant, always prepared to defend himself, and anxiously searched the surroundings for possible escape routes.
Seeing his wary expression, Danitz revealed a slightly mocking smile:
“I just thought you might be more interested in the Southern Continent—to be precise, in Mr. Teyvat’s cargo, which happens to be me too, so we should have something in common.”
Reeves was taken aback, somewhat swayed by the words, but he remained skeptical of the pirate.
“You are very strong, and I cannot put myself in danger. Let’s talk here.”
Danitz clicked his tongue and said sarcastically:
"Looks like you not only look like a woman, but you're also as effeminate as she is! Never mind, there probably aren't any other extraordinary individuals in this tavern. Come here—"
Danitz waved to Reeves, signaling him to follow. Then, he walked to a table in the corner of the tavern and sat down.
Revi hesitated for a moment, but still followed. Danitz, as a wanted criminal with a high bounty, probably wouldn't fight him in a crowded place.
After taking their seats, Danitz spoke first:
“I think you should know who I am. Yes, I am a pirate, but I am not a ruthless one. My purpose in coming to Tingen is very clear: I have my eye on that old man Teyvat's cargo. That old man has done a lot of shady things in the Southern Continent and made a fortune. I am going alone this time, without any companions to help me, so I need someone to help me out. Are you interested? After it is done, I can give you 20% of the cargo.”
"They've got their eyes on Mr. Teyvat's goods..."
Reeve keenly sensed that this was an opportunity, perhaps with Danitz's help, to find out the specific details of Mr. Teyvat's cargo.
He feigned slight interest and asked:
"Sounds pretty good. Do you know exactly what kind of goods are coming from Teyvat?"
Danitz smiled and said mysteriously:
"I know some of the details. His ship has timber and mummy powder, but these are not the main cargo. I have received information that his ship is carrying an extremely valuable and mysterious item!"
Levi's heart leaped into his throat, and he hurriedly asked:
"What item? Is it an extraordinary item?"
Danitz shrugged:
"I don't know exactly what it is, but I know that it's very valuable and could very well be an extraordinary item."
Levi's heart sank, and his suspicions about Mr. Teyvat grew even stronger—the suspected extraordinary items transported from the Southern Continent at this time could very well be important supplies that the Rose School was sending to the Hyena Gang!
Chapter 67 Russell's Diary (Please continue reading)
Reeves then asked:
Do you know when that shipment arrived?
Danitz leaned back in his chair, crossed his legs, and said slowly:
"I estimate it will take at least another ten days—the last time I saw them was in Bayam. With so many goods to load and unload, and to go through customs inspections, it won't be quick."
Reeves nodded. Ten days was enough time for him and Ms. B to make many preparations.
Danitz looked at the pensive Revy and raised his sallow eyebrows:
"What's your decision? You've gathered so much information from me. If you don't work with me, I'll have to turn you into an extraordinary talent."
After some thought, Rivero decided to agree first, and with Danitz's help, investigate Mr. Teyvat's background. If it was ultimately proven that Mr. Teyvat was innocent, then he would report him to the church and bring the notorious pirate Danitz to justice.
He nodded and said:
"As long as my safety is not jeopardized, I can cooperate with you. Tell me what you need me to do."
Danitz clapped his hands in admiration:
“Very good. Although you look and have the guts of a woman, at least you're not as indecisive as a woman. What I need you to do is very simple. I'm not from Tingen, so I don't know enough about the situation in Tingen or Teyvat. Your main task is to investigate the situation in Teyvat's family. Secondly, investigate the distribution of the Beyonders' power in Tingen City. Finally, assist me in the raid. How about that? Isn't it simple?”
"They made me do so much work, and I only get 20%? That's outrageous..."
Reeves inwardly grumbled. Although he had no intention of actually robbing Mr. Teyvat, his indifference to the share of the spoils might arouse Danitz's suspicion. So, he waved his hand and said:
"You want me to do so much, but you're only giving me 20%? I need at least 40%!"
"Thirty percent, that's my bottom line, there's no room for negotiation."
Danitz seemed to have anticipated that Reeves would bargain, and quickly came up with his own response.
Having achieved his goal of dispelling doubts, Levi stopped insisting and agreed to the distribution plan.
Danitz nodded in satisfaction, took a big gulp of his rum, and said:
“If you have any information, write it down on a piece of paper and give it to the bartender at this Seagull Bar—I've already bribed him. You and I will come to the bar once a day to check if we've exchanged information. Understand, Mr. Sissy!”
Reeves didn't take Danitz's offense to heart; he simply thought Danitz liked to provoke people, and that Danitz's provocations were of a very low level, not even a tenth as good as Ms. B's.
Furthermore, Danitz, a notorious pirate, had not yet launched any concrete actions, yet even ordinary sailors like Meyer knew his whereabouts. It has to be said that his ability to disguise himself is truly worrying.
Levi didn't say much, and left the Seagull Bar, intending to report his discovery to Ms. B first, and then go to Mr. Teyvat's house.
Leaving the dock area, Rivi took a public carriage to the Flamingo Bar and entered the guest room area at the back.
Using his previous memories, he arrived at the secret room where Ms. B was.
Ms. B had clearly been alerted to his arrival through some form of warning, and was sitting in her chair, smiling as she watched him.
"He barged in without saying hello; he's quite an impatient man."
"I'd like to say hello to you too, but there's no WeChat in this world. How can I say hello? By sending a message by carrier pigeon?"
Levi inwardly grumbled a few words, but outwardly remained calm as he said:
“I’m sorry, Miss Cynthia, but I had some good news at the docks and was eager to share it with you.”
"So fast?" Ms. B raised an eyebrow. "It's not a good thing for a man to be too fast."
Reeves, no longer wanting to pay attention to Ms. B's meaningless words, simply ignored them and continued recounting his findings:
“In the dock area, I’ve gathered some information, Mr. Teyvat: there are some goods arriving from the south recently.”
Reeve tried to speak, and perhaps because he spoke subtly enough, or perhaps because Ms. B's previous protection had diminished most of the power of the Book of Notarial, his words and actions did not incur punishment from the Book of Notarial.
“Teyvat?” Ms. B pondered. “He’s a well-known importer and exporter in Tingen, but are you sure it’s him?”
Levi said after careful consideration:
"I can only say it's very likely. I'm currently investigating, and I've unexpectedly met a pirate with a 3000-pound bounty—Flame Danitz. He's very interested in Mr. Teyvat's cargo and wants to plunder it. For the purpose of gathering intelligence, I've partnered with him."
Upon hearing this, Ms. B's face showed a puzzled expression:
"A pirate with a 3000-pound bounty has appeared in Tingen? This is not a common occurrence. You'd better be careful and not believe the pirates' words. They are not benevolent."
Reeve nodded, indicating that he understood.
"Next, I plan to investigate Mr. Teyvat's family. After all, he is a suspect."
Ms. B nodded slightly, then suddenly revealed a mysterious smile, took out a page from her pocket that smelled of ink, and handed it to Reeves:
“Jason has been searching for Emperor Roselle’s notes. I think you should be interested in them too?”
Levi was taken aback, and excitedly took the transcribed page. He glanced at it and saw that it was written in neat Chinese characters. It was indeed the diary of Emperor Roselle!
Levi was extremely excited. Since joining the mutual aid society, he hadn't had time to post a request to find the diary at the trading gatherings. He never expected that the diary would now come to him on its own!
"However, I cannot show too much interest in Russell's diary, as that would arouse suspicion."
Levi forcibly suppressed his inner excitement, put on an indifferent expression, and said:
"Oh, it's just a pastime to kill time when I'm bored. After all, every student would see this as a fun puzzle game. But right now, I'm not that interested."
As he spoke, he tossed his diary onto the table beside him, seemingly unconcerned.
Ms. B watched Levi's performance quietly, a meaningful smile playing on her lips, lost in thought.
She picked up the diary page again, stuffed it into Levi's hand, and said with a hint of mockery:
"Just accept it. Doing more puzzle games is good for the brain and can reduce the risk of losing control."
Levi stopped insisting, pretended to accept the diary, and said:
"Although I'm not interested, since you've given it to me, I should still follow the principle of fair trade. Tell me, what do I need to pay in return?"
Ms. B smiled meaningfully again:
"No need. This notebook is a gift from fate."
Chapter 68 The Witch's Taste is Really Good (Please Read On)
Reeve felt a sense of crisis, as if he had been seen through.
“A gift of fate? Ms. B seems certain that this diary is of great significance to me, or perhaps she is just testing me... In any case, I should go home and take a good look at what is written in the diary.”
He collected the diaries and said calmly:
"If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave now."
Ms. B smiled and nodded, without trying to stop her.
As soon as he left the Flamingo Bar, Levi rushed back to his residence at number 46. He arrived home in less than ten minutes, then hurriedly ran back to his rented room, locked the door, and tremblingly took out the page of paper that smelled of fresh ink.
Levi opened the paper and began to read greedily:
"On January 14th, I discovered a problem: if unintentional high-sequence items are not sealed, they will unconsciously attract low-sequence individuals along the same path to the vicinity, resulting in intersections. The higher the original sequence, the more likely this will happen."
"However, this situation does not seem to be constant, but rather intermittent."
"January 16th, the witch's taste is really good."
"On January 20th, I prepared the second blasphemous card."
"Let me think, let me think, where should I hide it?"
"Hmm, I plan to disguise it as a bookmark and tuck it into a very valuable book. Unless the recipient is destined to find it, they will hardly imagine that the most valuable thing in this high-value book is actually that inconspicuous bookmark!"
"Great idea!"
This diary entry seems quite short... and the content isn't as rich as the last one.
Levi read it carefully several times and began to analyze it:
'Unconscious high-sequence items, if not sealed, will unconsciously attract low-sequence individuals along the same path to the vicinity, causing them to intersect. The higher the original sequence, the more likely this will occur.'
