"I guess you'll need this, go ahead and apply it."
"Section Chief~ I've also used up a lot," Li Zhanyi pouted, "Why did you give it to Lin Chen?"
“You get one too,” Jiang Zhengge handed a can to Li Zhanyi. “Take as many as you like, Sister Hua will cover all the expenses.”
So it turns out the bureau chief paid for it all... Lin Chen smiled helplessly, put the Azure Factor into the syringe, and injected it into his neck.
"Are those entities your friends too?" Lucy stared uncomfortably at the guerrillas leading the way. "Look at their attire... typical Raintown guerrillas... they're still defending Raintown..."
“Poor things, forever trapped on the battlefield,” Li Zhanyi sighed, “while their Rain Town has long been turned into the Foundation’s backyard.”
“To be honest, I don’t know their purpose,” Lin Chen said softly, “but it seems we have no choice but to follow them.”
“I don’t really like this feeling of losing control,” Jiang Zhengge’s lips twitched slightly, “but considering you once had a physical friend with gamma-level abilities, this risk is worth taking.”
Just then, a light appeared ahead. The guerrilla fighter turned and gestured to Lin Chen before quickly crawling out.
"I'll lead the way." Lin Chen drew his gun, quickened his pace, and walked towards the light—
A vast green plain came into view.
This is clearly the boundary of the "scorched earth" operation in the ruins. A crack separates the vast plains in the distance from the scorched earth, and the charred land stops at the edge of the crack.
"It's actually a shortcut..." Lin Chen murmured.
"So smoothly..." Li Zhanyi was somewhat incredulous, "We really got out like this?"
The guerrilla captain walked up to Lin Chen, bowed to him, and then gestured for him to come this way.
Lin Chen exchanged a glance with Jiang Zhengge behind him, then nodded towards the physical entity:
"Let's go."
Led by the captain's physical form, Lin Chen arrived at a small camp.
Most of the people here are guerrilla fighters with charred skin. Some are sharpening knives, while others are maintaining their weapons. They look well-trained.
"If only this guerrilla force would listen to me..." Lin Chen had a strange thought for no apparent reason.
Led by the captain, several wounded soldiers from the armed forces unit arrived at a medical tent, which contained a large amount of medical resources that appeared to be of surprisingly good quality.
“You should rest here for a while,” Jiang Zhengge said. “Try not to use their stuff, as it may cause subspace contamination.”
Upon hearing this, the charred nurse stomped her foot forcefully, looking rather unhappy.
The captain spoke a few words in a language that Lin Chen couldn't understand to the entity, and then led the group of students towards the large tent in the center of the camp.
Upon entering the tent, Lin Chen saw an old man sitting in a chair—his face was charred, but his body was hunched over.
The captain stopped the rest of the team and gestured for Lin Chen to continue forward.
“I will help you with the warning,” Li Zhanyi said.
Lin Chen nodded, stepped forward, and walked up to the old man.
The old man struggled to raise his head, glanced at Lin Chen, and then bowed his head deeply.
"The ghosts of history..."
Seeing the old man's submissive demeanor, Lin Chen hesitated for a moment, then spoke softly:
Why are you bowing down to me?
“Please remember our story,” the old man murmured, “we fought to defend Raintown.”
"We should not be forgotten."
The entity before him clearly possessed a certain level of language ability, or rather, intelligence, and could even converse fluently with Lin Chen.
Its grade will not be low.
"Why me?" Lin Chen asked again.
“You recorded everything,” the old man looked up, “but have you forgotten?”
Record everything...
The Mirage City allows us to glimpse everything Lin Chen has experienced... Is this a record of history?
Lin Chen stared at the old man's charred, featureless face for a moment, then nodded slightly.
"I will remember your story."
“Come back if you need help,” the old man replied, “we will take you to your destination.”
After saying that, the old man nodded slightly, and the captain gestured for Lin Chen to proceed.
“Your physical friend can talk…” Jiang Zhengge patted Lin Chen on the shoulder. “This guy is ruthless; the entire guerrilla force is probably centered around him.”
“Those that can talk aren’t so scary,” Lin Chen nodded. “To be honest, I didn’t expect them to be willing to help us like this.”
"Actually, they're quite cute," Li Zhanyi thought of the nurse who stomped her feet. "Although friendly entities aren't rare, encountering them every time is a bit too much..."
“That archivist is definitely not a friendly entity!” Lucy frowned. “There must be something about this kid that attracts those entities, an abnormal succubus?”
Succubus is just too much...
Lin Chen smiled helplessly. After meeting up with the officers from the Armed Forces Department, they were led by the entity to a passageway.
"Going through tunnels again?" Jiang Zhengge laughed. "They're not going to let us crawl back in, are they?"
“Oh dear, this is when you have to trust our real-life friends,” Li Zhanyi said excitedly. “Let’s go! Let’s go through the tunnel!”
The group entered the tunnel and walked in the dark for another ten minutes or so.
When they finally emerged from the tunnel and saw the light of day again, they were greeted by a vast green plain.
This shortcut actually bypasses the block directly?
Only now did Lin Chen realize that this so-called shortcut was actually the guerrillas' unusual ability.
Lin Chen turned his head and looked at the edge of the tunnel, where the guerrilla captain was standing at the entrance.
It waved to the crowd, then turned around and disappeared back into the tunnel.
From the beginning, the guerrilla entities have had the ability to cross blocks, and scorched earth is not a shackle for them.
Yet they remained steadfast on the battlefield, fighting time and again for their Rain Town.
Even though that small town has long since vanished in the torrential rains of history.

Chapter 106 The Center of the Ideal State (Third Update)
"Om——"
With a roar, the Orca slowly descended to a low altitude, and a small elevator platform was lowered down.
Lin Chen took a deep breath of the fresh air on the plain, and the smell of sparks from the scorched earth finally dissipated considerably.
A medical team was brought down from the elevator platform. They carried the wounded onto stretchers and transported them to the "Orca" first.
“The death toll is thirteen,” Jiang Zhengge reported to Professor Jürgen beside the elevator. “Bai Duozhi is responsible for their deaths.”
“His control over this country is extraordinary,” Professor Jürgen said, taking off his glasses and sighing softly. “Let us mourn for those warriors.”
There was silence around the lifting platform.
Looking at the investigators groaning on stretchers, Lin Chen realized that this was the first time he had lost a teammate in battle.
In previous operations, he had always worked with Section 1. Although they faced powerful enemies, they all escaped unharmed in the end.
This made Lin Chen unaware of one fact: their success was due to their rapid response unit.
Not everyone is like the investigators in Section One, possessing either extensive combat experience or powerful psychic abilities.
The team members could hold their own against the Gamma-level Captain England, but in front of a demigod, the ordinary operators were powerless to fight back.
“More than a hundred intelligent entities have invaded the consciousness of this entity,” Lin Chen said to Professor Jürgen. “Professor, do you have any countermeasures?”
"It feels like things are going to get harder and harder..." Li Zhanyi said with some distress. "There are so many entities in Ideal Country. If this continues, it will turn into a war of attrition."
Looking at the two young people, Professor Jürgen's face showed a gentle smile.
“Why not try thinking in reverse?” he said softly. “If Hundred-Dominion is powerful enough to manipulate entities at will, why didn’t he manipulate a large number of entities to deal with us the moment we entered the Ideal State?”
“Hundreds of blocks, various entities with unknown characteristics. We entered this place in a subspace tunnel boring machine so that we could evacuate in time in the event of such an extreme situation.”
“But we did not encounter this situation. We even successfully deployed a large number of dimensional stabilizing anchors and even calculated the path to the center.”
"why?"
Professor Jürgen's words were like a revelation to Lin Chen.
“When he ambushed us, he still took advantage of the characteristics of the ‘Iron Torrent’,” Lin Chen said softly. “If he could really control physical entities at will, he could have just manipulated the entire torrent to fire at us, and the guerrillas would not have had the opportunity to take us away.”
“Oh yeah…” Li Zhanyi nodded, “So, this guy is actually…”
"...There's simply no energy left for further consciousness intrusion." Lin Chen nodded.
“This ambush is most likely a desperate gamble by Baidozhi,” Jürgen nodded with a smile. “He’s already at his wit’s end.”
"..."
Ten minutes later, the Orca's elevator platform was recovered, and it once again took to the sky.
On the bridge, Lin Chen stared at the dense green dots on the holographic display screen: those were the successfully deployed dimensional stabilizing anchors.
“While you were on the mission, Team Two took over the field,” Professor Jürgen said, looking at the screen. “They are continuing to conquer blocks, and we have already successfully captured 48 blocks.”
"Heh, this can be called a large-scale live-fire exercise for the Armed Forces Department," Jiang Zhengge chuckled. "Now Hua Molan can finally see where the funds she approved went. Thank goodness, she won't have to prepare a long essay when she asks for reimbursement next time."
“We’ll be entering the Utopia Center in ten minutes,” Louis tapped his notebook. “Everyone, get back to your seats and fasten your seatbelts.”
Fasten your seatbelt? Something feels off...
Lin Chen obediently returned to his seat and fastened his seatbelt.
"Speaking of which, how's Chief Bruce?" he asked. "Is everything going well on their end?"
“Deep Diving Division 1 has already paved the way to the Ideal State Center,” Professor Jürgen chuckled. “Thanks to his diligence, we have already obtained a lot of information.”
"What kind of ruins were they?" Li Zhanyi asked.
"You'll find out soon enough."
At that moment, the sound of thunder and lightning came from outside the giant glass screen.
Lin Chen looked out the glass and saw a vast expanse of gray clouds after passing through a large crack.
In the center of the gray sea of clouds, a huge void was clearly visible, like a gunshot wound on a rotting corpse.
The center of the ideal state... is a hole?
As if to resolve Lin Chen's confusion, Professor Jürgen spoke up:
"The model of the ideal state is a sphere, and our previous position was at the center of the sphere."
“Those blocks are all located on the inner wall of the sphere, while the center of the ideal state is on the outer side of the sphere.”
As he spoke, the Orca rapidly descended toward the center.
Streaks of gray-white lightning struck, hitting the hull of the "Orca" and creating blue ripples.
After falling through the void in the sea of clouds for a good ten seconds, Lin Chen felt the direction of gravity suddenly reverse.
If he hadn't been restrained by the seatbelt, he would probably have fallen onto the ceiling by now.
Thankfully, he didn't stand there like Bruce and act all high and mighty.
The reversal of gravity did not last long, and the Orca quickly changed direction.
Lin Chen unbuckled his seatbelt, walked to the giant screen, and looked down at the scene.
His pupils contracted slightly when he saw that magnificent scene:
A gray and white city.
He had glimpsed this city in his dreams: its outline was classical, its architectural style resembled that of ancient Greece, yet it also incorporated elements from various other civilizations.
The most bizarre thing is that the buildings in this city are entirely made of white marble.
It was so white it looked grayish.
“It’s damn grand,” Jiang Zhengge chuckled, “like a temple of the Greek gods. Look, this is how the Foundation sees itself.”
“A clumsy patchwork and imitation,” Li Zhanyi said softly.
