Xerath leaped into the air, trying to shake off the two, but Nasus snapped back to his senses, bent his knees and jumped, his powerful burst of energy allowing him to catch up with Xerath in an instant. The Sapphire of Axe Peak drank in the sunlight and swung a heavy axe down from behind.

The axe slammed Xerath back to the ground, crashing into the arena like a falling meteor. Kai'Sa realized her chance had come and took a step before Xerath hit the ground.

Chapter 444 Sealing the Witch Spirit

Xerath plummeted again under Nasus's devastating blow. Already injured in his battle with Azir, the continuous high-intensity combat had left him severely weakened. Had it not been for his unique abilities, he would likely have already perished under the brothers' axes.

Kai'Sa, seizing the opportunity, ran as fast as she could towards Xerath's location. On the way, she saw Renekton also charging towards Xerath, running like a wild beast, alternating his limbs.

So Kai'Sa ran around the circular theater a couple more times, and the accumulated energy was transformed into lightning in the bio-battery, blasting Renekton far away.

Forgive her for having to resort to this method. Finally, with no one interfering, Kai'Sa seized the opportunity to reach the edge of the crater where Xerath had fallen, took out the hourglass and threw it at him, then turned and ran away without looking back.

With its terrifying speed, even the gold-cast frame shattered easily, and the fine gold sand inside gushed out from the cracks the moment the hourglass broke.

They spread like a giant wave sweeping across the world, radiating a mysterious golden light and carrying an aura of decay. Everything they touched was plunged into a special state of time stagnation, and tinged with a brilliant gold.

The sands of time are unstoppable, not even by powerful ancient spirits. Before he could react, he was turned into a frozen golden sculpture, the solidified flames in his eyes vividly conveying his astonishment.

The terrifying golden light spread rapidly, catching up with Kasha in an instant, several times faster than when she arrived, and reaching her feet in a flash.

She didn't want to become some kind of golden statue, standing here forever for future generations to admire, so she turned and fled, using a life-or-death speed, even activating her time magic to its maximum.

Even so, the spreading gold continued to relentlessly pursue her, like an invisible grim reaper, trying to drag her out of the river of time, leaving her no time to even open a spatial rift and slip inside.

Fortunately, the Ancient Hourglass's effective range was only a hundred meters in radius. Kai'Sa narrowly escaped the death zone. To others, it all happened in an instant, and they had no idea what dangers she had risked.

"That was close!" Kasha knelt on the ground, panting heavily. Her throat was practically burning from running. This was the first time in her life she had ever run so urgently.

The crazed crocodile god charged again, roaring as it tried to smash Xerath's golden statue to pieces. Kai'Sa didn't know what the consequences would be—would it kill Xerath completely? Or would it unleash him once more?

She didn't want to take the risk, so even though she was exhausted, she insisted on getting back up to stop this uncertainty.

"I'll do it." Wild Hunt's voice rang out just in time, and a claw appeared behind Renekton, grabbing its tail and pulling it backward with force.

Renekton stumbled and fell, then Nasus rushed over and forcefully pinned his brother down, yelling in his ear, "That's enough! Renekton, you've done enough! He can't move anymore!!"

Upon hearing his voice, the madness that had filled Renekton's jaundiced eyes gradually faded, and he cried out like a wronged child, "We won, brother! We finally beat him!"

“Yes, we won…” Nasus said with emotion, looking at the battered and bruised Renekton, and suddenly felt like crying, but they had abandoned this ability after ascending.

Even powerful beings like the Ascended are just as sensitive and vulnerable as they are when they are human.

The millennia of darkness spent imprisoned in the imperial tombs completely transformed Renekton, driving him to madness, even more insane than the Darkin. He becomes uncontrollable, or even loses control of his emotions, when faced with intense emotional fluctuations.

Ascended beings have long lifespans, but they still have limits. Nasus didn't know how much longer he had to live; all he could guarantee was that he would spend the rest of his life making amends for his mistakes until he was redeemed.

"Now they should be able to resolve their differences, right?" Kai'Sa felt gratified watching this genuine display of emotion, knowing that her risking her life to seal Xerath with the Ancient Hourglass had not been in vain.

However, Xerath did not die completely; he was merely sealed away. The effects of the Sands of Time would gradually weaken over time, and no one knew when he would break free of the seal and awaken.

Let Azir worry about this; he probably has a lot to say to Xerath.

"Your Excellency, the situation on Aatrox's side seems dire. We'd better head back to help." The massive Balkux floated above Nasus, his dozen or so crimson eyes of varying sizes staring at them, and he spoke in a deep, booming voice.

"You guys go ahead, I'll catch up in a bit." Nasus nodded, letting Balcux and Stratholme, who had come to assist them, go back first. Renekton's desperate attack had resulted in serious injuries that threatened his life.

The last person to die in his arms was Setaka, and he didn't want to see that happen again. He planned to stabilize Renekton's condition before going to support Aatrox.

Kai'Sa caught her breath and felt much better. Just as she was about to go support the Darkin, Nasus called her back. (The rest of the text appears to be nonsensical and unrelated to the previous sentences.)

"I thank you on behalf of Shurima, little girl."

“Uh…” Kasha paused for a moment.

She'd been doing these things for so long and hadn't received many words of thanks, so this sudden, high-profile thank you really caught her off guard.

She subconsciously wondered, could Nasus still represent Shurima as it is now? Probably not. Then how much weight did his words carry? Was it necessary to be so nervous about it?

Such thoughts flooded her mind, causing Kasha to become indifferent; she was no longer the girl who needed validation.

"If there's nothing else, I'll go to the other side," Kasha replied casually, looking indifferent.

Seeing Nasus nod, Kai'Sa was about to leave when suddenly a bright light shone down from above, making her dizzy.

She endured the blinding light and looked up, only to find two figures who had appeared above the battlefield at some unknown time. They held sharp swords and had six wings on their backs, emitting a dazzling golden light. The clouds melted away under the intense light, and the shape of Mount Targon in the distance became clear for the first time.

Behind the human figure were countless winged non-human creatures. They were not normal creatures; their peculiar shapes made them seem more like legendary beings.

They came on fiercely, their countless forms covering the entire sky. The dense sound of flapping wings reached everyone's ears, causing them to stop what they were doing and look nervously at the sky.

Chapter 445 The Star Spirit of Justice

Kai'Sa looked up at the suddenly descending celestial army and heard Nasus sigh beside her, "They're not here with good intentions..."

"Wild Hunt, what's going on?" Kai'Sa adjusted her helmet and asked in a low voice.

"These Protoss of Justice are probably after us." As soon as Wild Hunt's serious voice came out, Kai'Sa could already imagine his furrowed brows.

“The Celestial Spirits are humans who carry the power of the Celestial Titans. Sometimes they are the agents of the Titans’ will, and sometimes they are the objects of the Titans’ possession… In any case, the Celestial Spirits generally do not appear in the mortal world unless a once-in-a-millennium calamity occurs. The righteous Celestial Spirit, who hates evil as if it were her enemy, is the most inhuman among them. Her arrival will inevitably be accompanied by a thorough purge.”

Kai'Sa finally understood: the appearance of these angels in Narimar was no coincidence; they were there to cause trouble.

“Protoss! This is an internal matter in Shurima. We will handle it ourselves. Please do not interfere and leave immediately.” Nasus stood up and slammed his axe handle heavily on the ground, producing a dull echo.

Before setting off, Azir specifically instructed them not to clash with Mount Targon. It's important to understand that the Sun Disk was originally created by mortals commissioned by the Titans; if the two sides became enemies, Shurima would inevitably suffer.

But judging from the situation, the other side is probably planning to intervene on their own initiative. However, he still has to try to see if he can get the Protoss to let them go.

Upon hearing this, the two Protoss immediately turned their gazes to Nasus, their burning eyes filled with golden light, their expressions unreadable.

“The guardians of Shurima, those who harbor sinners will be punished the same. Think carefully before you speak,” said Mishira, the celestial being of justice.

She gripped a longsword, its blade ablaze with sacred fire, exuding the aura of truth and punishment. Behind her, two pairs of golden wings also burned with sacred fire. Two slightly smaller pairs of wings folded together in front of her, like a shawl and belt protecting her body.

"The wicked will be consumed by fire, the wicked deserve death, the fraudsters are condemned as incompetent, the rebellious will be engulfed in flames, the fallen will be unforgivable, and the greedy will meet their doom. This war must end. The deeds of you Darkin have brought immense harm to Runeterra. Prepare for judgment. Only the worthy will survive."

Another Protoss of Justice loudly proclaimed that she was Kayle, Mishira's daughter. Kayle's wings were blue and white, her sword glowed with a deep blue light, and she was encased in silver-white armor.

Upon hearing this, the Darkin were all outraged.

“These Protoss have banished us to the corners of the world, and after we’ve tasted the darkness of imprisonment, they still threaten to put us to trial again! To punish us for the same crime is utterly unreasonable!” Horaz clenched her fists. She was sealed on Mount Targon and had the most insight into this matter.

The main participants in the Darkin War were the War Protoss and the Twilight Protoss. One defeated them head-on, while the other betrayed them, ultimately sealing them into living weapons. Now, the Protoss of Justice have taken over, and they actually want them punished again for the sins they've already atoned for! How could they possibly tolerate this?

Aatrox flew into the pool of blood, his bloodthirsty gaze fixed on Kayle. He remembered fighting her before, somewhere in Demacia, where he had been defeated by Kayle and her sister Morgana. The appearance of Kayle brought back those past humiliations.

Nasus had no intention of giving up. He raised his hand, signaling the Darkin to remain silent. These Darkin were an extremely valuable part of Shurima's strength, and he had to do everything in his power to defend their survival.

"The Emperor has ordered us to wage this war to punish the unjust. We do not wish to clash with Mount Targon. The mastermind, Xerath, has been subdued. Once we capture the accomplices, we will immediately return home. The Darkin have also reformed. Their pledge of allegiance is the execution of the sinners. They will be reborn as noble Celestial Warriors under the Emperor's grace."

Misira looked at Kyle, seemingly entrusting the matter entirely to him. She nodded, then spoke again.

“Guardian of Shurima,” Kael’tchham questioned, “can you undo the injustice? Can the Darkin’s massacre be made to disappear? No? Then they are unforgivable! Ascension cannot erase sins, and sinners are unworthy of ascension. The law is the concrete form of justice, and even the emperor is not above the law; his words do not carry the weight of justice. If you still wish to protect sinners, then you shall be the first to face the judgment of my blade!”

“There’s nothing more to say. They were corrupted by villains and fell to this state. Both morally and logically, they deserve a chance to reform. Since you refuse to let us go, we have no choice but to fight to the bitter end.” Nasus raised his axe again, ready to fight the Celestial army to the bitter end; he couldn’t afford to lose the hearts of the people here. Renekton also stood up unsteadily, ready to sacrifice his broken body for Shurima at any moment.

Nasus's decision not to play it safe moved the Darkin. Aatrox approached Nasus and advised, "Grandmaster, the Protoss are after us. This has nothing to do with you. Let me deal with them. You should take General Renekton and leave now."

“I’ve been standing idly by for too long; I can’t stand idly by this time.” Nasus shook his head and refused, indicating that he would stand by him through thick and thin.

Just then, the silent pool of blood suddenly boiled, and Zolani, covered in blood, emerged from it.

She absorbed the blood into her body, and her original injuries were completely healed. She looked up at the celestial army above her, tilting her head as if deep in thought.

"Ha. Not hiding anymore? Cowardly coward from Icathia," Aatrox sneered.

Zolani shook her head: "If we continue fighting, it will only give these Protoss the advantage."

"Then what do you want?" Aatrox retorted.

"One person against one, and we'll fight to the death after we defeat the Protoss."

"Okay, it's a deal. We won't attack you during this time."

Aatrox readily agreed, and the two took to the air, confronting the two righteous Protoss amidst the encirclement of the Celestial army.

Zoranny deeply resented the Protoss's betrayal, and Aatrox's hatred for them was no less intense. In the Darkin War, they both paid a heavy price, with only the scheming Protoss escaping with the last laugh.

The reason they were able to put aside their prejudices and fight together at this point was simply because they felt that it was better to resist and die at the hands of the Protoss than to be punished by them.

Perhaps Zoranny was being overly cautious; she believed the Protoss posed a greater threat. After all, the Darkin couldn't destroy her true form, while the Protoss might.

Chapter 446 Judgment from Heaven

"Hmph, stubborn as a mule."

Kyle’s flickering, heavy eyes blazed with an unyielding fury; looking into them felt like staring directly at the sun.

"Xerath has brought disaster to the country and its people. He destroyed the lives of millions of people in the Oasis of Dawn because of his own selfish desires. He deserves to die."

"The Darkin started a thousand-year war, and even after escaping, they are still resentful and continue to do evil and bring death to the people. They all deserve to die."

“Nasus, you are the guardian of Shurima, yet you have neglected your duties and protected evil. You should be stripped of your divinity.”

Kyle's voice was incredibly majestic, as if all the gods themselves were speaking through her, enumerating the sins of everyone present as a pre-battle declaration.

One by one, Kyle called them out by name. The Darkin all stood tall and proud; since they couldn't avoid it, they might as well treat it as some kind of honor.

But to everyone's surprise, even Kai'Sa was involved in the judgment from the heavens.

“Daughter of the Void, you collude with the Void, harbor treacherous intentions, and aid and abet evil. Your crimes deserve to be punished.”

"what?!"

Kasha was shocked. She only looked like a bad person, but this was the first time she had ever been treated as one, especially by a law enforcement agency from the Celestials.

She felt incredibly wronged; she had tried so hard to save lives, yet she was found guilty. Was relieving suffering a crime?

"That's why I dislike the Protoss. They claim to be righteous, but they can't be fair and just. They only act according to rigid laws. Little do they know that these laws were also created by the Titans to restrict the mortal realm. Because they were afraid that the increasingly powerful races on Runeterra would threaten their position, they would send the Protoss down to the mortal realm to deal with the threats whenever things looked bad."

Wild Hunt wasn't stirring things up; he was simply describing his subjective view of the Protoss. He and Kai'Sa had been on the same side from the beginning.

"Very well, you've really messed with me!" Kai'Sa was furious after hearing Wild Hunt's words.

She clenched her fists. The celestial army was not worthy of being called a righteous army. She firmly believed that her actions did not deviate from the justice recognized by the majority.

If her actions are not recognized, she will defy fate!

"I have acted on behalf of the gods throughout the world; where the gods cannot, I can do all. Accept your punishment! Your sins will be cleansed in the sacred fire!" After declaring the sins and punishments, Kyle brandished his longsword, and the celestial army, which had been waiting in battle, immediately launched an attack.

After Xerath's puppet army was sealed away, it lost control and fell silent. The sand soldiers on Shurima's side were reduced to remnants, and the Celestial army's firepower was almost entirely focused on the remaining Darkin.

The fastest of these is a creature called the Winged Messenger. Its main body consists of a pair of wings and four limbs covered in armor. Apart from that, it has no torso or head, only a small flame at the junction of its wings.

These messengers swooped down with incredible speed, their flickering candlelight casting bursts of fireballs. Kai'Sa dodged, firing a plasma grenade in return, only to be blocked by Kai'Sa raising her arms in a crossed stance.

Her figure vanished from where she stood, then reappeared behind it in the next instant, pressing down on it with her weight and rubbing it mercilessly into the ground. (The rest of the text appears to be gibberish and unrelated to the previous sentences.)

The Winged Messenger glided across the ground for dozens of meters, but the candlelight showed no signs of weakening. Kai'Sa then poured Void Energy onto the candlelight with her palm, finally extinguishing it completely.

“The weakness of these things lies in fire,” Kasa said to Portil and the others.

"Roar!" The latter transformed into an ice dragon and soared into the sky. It used its claws to grab and crush the winged messengers that were flying around and throwing fireballs. It also spewed out icy breath, and clumps of ice sculptures fell from the sky and crashed into the ground as broken limbs. However, the armor was empty inside, with no flesh or blood tissue.

This made Kai'Sa realize that the Celestial army was likely similar to the sarcophagus monsters created by Xerath, both being lifeless puppets, so they should focus their attacks on the two Protoss of Justice.

But things are not that simple. There is a creature called the Six-Legged Dragon from Outer Space among the army.

They are called dragons, yet their bodies are as slender as snakes, covered with fine green scales. Six hands hang down from their sides, not dragon claws, but human-like hands. Their heads lack any biological features; a pair of pure white wings grow on either side of their heads, and their flat faces have no facial features, only a triangular golden base from which endless golden light shines.

These monsters seemed to value air superiority highly. As soon as they saw Portil take off to slaughter the Winged Messenger, dozens of extraterrestrial six-legged dragons immediately turned their heads toward Portil, their triangular bases gathering radiant orbs of light that could shoot out at any moment.

Sensing the killing intent, the Wild Hunt ordered Portil to retreat. The next second, dozens of beams of light pierced through her location. Fortunately, she retreated quickly enough and was not seriously injured.

However, his mother suffered the consequences. The monsters could not ignore such a large biological mothership, and they all shot beams of light and fireballs at it. The flames that burned the sinner continued to burn, causing the giant beast to let out painful howls.

Under the Wild Hunt's control, the Void Remoras emerged to defend their mother. They crawled out of their hiding places and unleashed plasma cannons to exchange fire. Explosions resounded everywhere, and the entire sky was dyed an eerie color.

Among the celestial army, there is a special type of soldier called the Guardian Deities. These beings are barely human in form, dressed in holy white robes, their bodies standing as straight as coffins, with a pair of enormous wings behind them. They, too, have no heads; instead, a constantly deforming mass of liquid metal floats above their necks, their bodies shimmering with golden light.

The Guardian Angels cast spells to create golden rings, from which golden legions flew out in a burst of light, greatly increasing the pressure on Shurima.

“No wonder they care so much about air superiority; it turns out they want these divine messengers to maintain the teleportation portal,” Portil said, frowning.

However, this is only part of the battlefield; Balkux, the largest of the Darkin, has already been besieged.

Countless winged messengers flew around him, appearing as tiny as mosquitoes due to the vast difference in size, yet they converged into a golden cloud, overwhelming even dozens of bulging, scarlet eyeballs.

His vines couldn't keep up with these incredibly fast creatures, so he gripped his staff with both hands and lashed out at them, each strike killing dozens of messengers. But at the same time, these messengers were also hurling countless fireballs every second, which, though few, accumulated and caused Balkux to stagger and his eyes to tremble.

Stellato, the flame spirit, played her harp, and the messengers around her immediately burst into flames, like burning meteors falling to earth. But the flames of judgment cast upon her by her enemies had already begun to burn, fueled by her sins; the more she killed, the more fiercely they burned, eventually threatening the very existence of her original flame form.

These golden flames seemed to pose a great threat to the Darkin. All the Darkin who were touched by the flames of judgment were burning and could not extinguish themselves, suffering the pain of being burned continuously.
