"You're right, but what are you going to do?"
"Don't worry about me, I have a way to escape."
Nasus hesitated for a moment, but finally took out the Ancient Hourglass and handed it to Kai'Sa.
This thing was quite heavy; Kai'Sa almost couldn't hold it. Nasus quickly said, "Be careful, don't drop it."
Kasha took another look. The so-called ancient hourglass was made entirely of gold, square and thicker than her waist.
Inside the hourglass, fine golden sand flowed slowly, emitting a faint glow, instantly reminding Kai'Sa of the Sands of Time she had once seen in Nasus's Tomb.
The sand felt as smooth as skin; anyone touched by it would have their time rapidly drained away, wither and die, and eventually turn into "scum."
Holding the hourglass wasn't easy, so Kai'Sa stuffed it into the Zerg hive and looked for another opportunity to approach Xerath.
……
On the other side of the battlefield, Zoranny was closing in on Horaz at full speed.
Varus forced her to stop with arrow after arrow, the spiraling arrows whistling through the air as they aimed at Zoranny's head.
However, just as the arrow was about to hit, Zoranny flicked her wrist, and it abruptly changed direction, turning into a rain of arrows that shot back to Varus's location, forcing him to hide behind cover and unable to raise his head.
Seeing her aggressive approach, Horaz was on high alert. He aimed the magnet in his palm at Zolani and shot out a beam of bloody light, but it was completely blocked by a pair of bone wings that closed forward. Horaz suddenly accelerated and slapped the magnet away with a claw, aiming straight for Horaz's throat.
Horaz tried his best to dodge, but was still grazed by Zoranny's chains and fell to the ground. The lightning cage went out of control, and the two Darkin imprisoned within also broke free, instantly turning the battle into utter chaos.
Jorah went to intercept Aatrox, while Ibarros approached Nayafili. Horaz tried again, and a bolt of lightning struck Zoranny, who fell to the ground. Horaz then used magic to lift her up and place her face to face with Naganeka.
Naganekia revealed her waxy yellow fangs covered in slime, then let out an extremely piercing scream, and a blazing green light burst forth from her eyes.
At Zoranny's command, Jorah abandoned Aatrox and returned to fight, pointing his shield at Naganek. By the time Naganek saw her own face on the smooth, mirror-like surface of the shield, it was already too late.
She was petrified by her own power, her expression of astonishment frozen perfectly on her face, before Zolani swiftly beheaded her.
Zolani used chains to roll the head back and use it as a shield, then pressed her five fingers on the back of the head to infuse it with magic, thus reactivating it and making it immortal.
Naganek, who had grown her head back from being held up by the other party, hissed in resentment.
With the Spear of Anaca in her left hand and the Skull of Naganeka in her right, Zorani was unstoppable.
She raised her hand and pointed her head at Aatrox, who was chasing after her. When she saw the light coming from her head, Aatrox quickly raised his arm to cover his eyes.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Zoranny turned back and charged towards Horaz, wanting to deal with this troublesome guy first and take the magnet from his hand.
If Horaz dares to resist, she will activate Naganeka's head to petrify him.
Unexpectedly, the Nest Mother had already locked onto her, and thousands of cannons continuously unleashed a barrage of bullets that blotted out the sky.
Plasma bombs have a certain tracking ability. Zolani dodged left and right in the Icathian rainstorm but could not dodge them all and was engulfed in a series of explosions.
She fell to earth like a fiery meteor, and even her bone wings could not withstand such a dense barrage of bullets, leaving her with multiple festering wounds all over her body.
On
Chapter 442 Ultimate Showdown
Zoranny rolled around to extinguish the flames burning her wounds. Turning her head, she saw Horaz not far away and immediately shot out chains to entangle him, but her plan was thwarted by a greatsword that fell from the sky.
"Zolani, you can't escape!"
During the time that had been spent waiting, Aatrox caught up and plunged his living greatsword into Zolani's chest, the intense pain causing her to let out a piercing scream.
Zoranny bound the greatsword with chains, but under Aatrox's full pressure, the greatsword still slowly pierced through her body, pinning her deep into the ground.
Even worse, the heart on the sword was pounding violently, absorbing her flesh and blood. Aatrox's eyes were no longer crazed, and under his cold gaze, Zoranny could feel her power constantly draining away, a feeling that terrified her.
In the nick of time, Jorah used his shield to ram Aatrox, giving Zoranny a chance to catch her breath. While Ibarros was held back, he also prevented the other Darkin from getting close.
The situation reversed, and Zoranny got up and fled, pulling out the living greatsword that was piercing her body, and was escorted by Jorah as she fled towards the altar.
She was seriously injured, but she managed to get her hands on Aatrox's true form. Once she absorbed and devoured him, none of the remaining Darkin would stand a chance against her.
But before he could even warm the greatsword in his hand, Nayafili suddenly appeared from the side.
Jorah raised his shield to block the surging "sea urchins," but Nayafili disintegrated mid-air, leaping over the shield and disintegrating into dozens of bloodhounds. Simultaneously, he pointed the dagger from his head at Zoranny, shooting away in a streak of bloody light. (The last line appears to be unrelated and possibly a separate message: "Meinen, I'm here in the air, you're here, I'm not here...")
Zolani hastily raised the Skull of Naganeka, but it was too late. Her left arm, along with the head shield, was severed by the Darkin dagger, and the greatsword bound by chains was also cut down by Nayafili.
Nayafili leaped high into the air, transforming once again into the gears of a sharp chainsaw as she charged forward. The battered and bruised Zolani gripped her spear tightly, as if trying to crush it, crimson runes appearing on her arm as she unleashed the frost power within the spear, creating an ice wall that rose from the ground to block her attack.
Seeing that Aatrox had retrieved the greatsword, she immediately stopped lingering and returned at full speed to the Blood Altar, planting her spear into the altar.
"Oh no, she's going to absorb Anaka's power!"
Naafili pursued relentlessly, and Aatrox arrived shortly after, but the altar clasped its hands together to protect Zolani, and no matter how hard they attacked, they could not destroy it in a short time.
The other Darkin also tried, but none of them could quickly destroy the blood altar that Xerath had built for Zoranny.
Fortunately, the Wild Hunt was there as a backup. Under his command, the Nest Mother bombarded the altar with a barrage of projectiles.
The altar crumbled under the successive explosions, and the highly corrosive energy easily destroyed the protection, forcing Zolani, who was hiding inside, to come out.
The fusion evolution was only halfway complete when Zolani turned into a human pig, without hands or feet, with a constantly writhing fleshy sac attached to her neck, making her look like a human punching bag.
His white hair had turned into sticky, fleshy strands, as if it had been forcibly torn from his head. The eyepatch over his right eye had vanished, replaced by several eyes of varying sizes growing from his temple, all radiating a crazed, bloodthirsty light.
"Aaaaaah!!! You ruined everything I had, I'll never forgive you even if I die!!!" Enraged by the interruption of her fusion, she regrew asymmetrical limbs, showing no trace of her former strength and elegance.
She swung her crimson scythe, leaving bloodstains all around, which actually repelled Aatrox and Naafiri.
"Damn it, Anaka was absorbed by her after all." Nayafili's pack of dogs bared their teeth and growled, dozens of fangs emitting the same sound.
On the altar, Anakka's spear had lost its luster, signifying the fall of her already few remaining Darkin brethren.
On
Aatrox said nothing, but charged forward. He pounced like an avalanche—like a devastating, invincible thunderbolt, burying everything and leaving no escape.
Anyone who has fought alongside him has witnessed that Aatrox's charge can shatter an entire army's phalanx, knock down towering giants, and smash the gates of a fortress.
But Zolani at this time was no ordinary person either. Having devoured three Darkborns in succession, she had already exceeded the limits of her kind, and she had not even developed her own limits yet.
Zolani wielded her scythe and slashed down with a cross, the clanging of the blades creating a metallic dance, a flash of blood, and a flurry of flying sand and stones.
The two clashed in mid-air before crashing into the ruins of the blood altar. The massive impact destroyed the base, and the remaining fragments collapsed.
They crashed to the ground like the heavy punches of ancient tomb guardians, cracking the earth before rolling into the circular amphitheater.
Aatrox charged forward again, but Zoranny knelt down, placing her hands flat on the stained-glass floor of the circular amphitheater.
She sensed the magical pulse within the entire building structure, and golden threads of power connected her with every living being on the shattered glass floor.
Mortals are like sparks rising from a bonfire, fleeting and insignificant, but the Darkin are like the setting sun, radiating magical energy.
She drew upon their power, just as the Twilight Protoss had taught her.
She drew power from Horaz, the celestial insight twisting within her. She also took the shattering power of Naafiri, the agility of the pack surging within her ancient body. And there was Naganek's venom, Varus's cold-bloodedness, and Aatrox's madness for destruction.
Zolani closed her eyes; she now knew the trajectory of Aatrox's charge.
She swayed to the side, the greatsword just a hair's breadth from her throat. Aatrox charged like lightning, while Zoranny deftly turned, her chain scythe lashing his hand like thorns, leaving deep gashes.
Aatrox crashed into the wall of the circular amphitheater. The glass shattered into sharp fragments from the violent impact, piercing his thigh and lungs. His steps faltered, and even his breathing became like a leaky bellows.
A wave of weakness washed over him, and Aatrox gritted his teeth, grabbed the chain, and slammed Zolani to the ground, unleashing a storm of glassy daggers.
He then flapped his wings and leaped down, his massive feet slamming down, but Zoranny rolled away to avoid it. She sprang into the air, the chains twisting together like a giant arm, lifting Aatrox into the sky before slamming him down heavily.
Aatrox let out a muffled groan, his chest deflated, and he endured the excruciating pain as his greatsword sliced through a deadly arc. The heart on the blade pounded violently, its frequency corresponding to the lethality of the attack.
The blood-red chains instantly blocked the attack, and the rapid screech of the chains repelled the greatsword. The blood-red scythe at the end moved nimbly like a venomous snake, crossing and hooking around Aatrox's neck!
This was a golden opportunity! Zolani strangled with all her might, her bloodthirsty eyes bulging outwards as she was about to kill her nemesis, but she found that no matter what she did, she could not pull the chains.
They were held tightly by Aatrox's arms, which were thicker than her thighs, leaving only shallow bloodstains on his neck.
“You’re at your last gasp!” Zolani shouted, continuing to apply pressure as the scythe began to cut into Aatrox’s neck, blood gushing out.
“No, far from enough.” Aatrox forced out the words from between his bloodied fangs. “I can’t even kill myself, and you dare to dream of killing me?”
He unleashed a destructive force, which his fellow citizens were completely unaware of.
Aatrox's aura surged, his blood boiled, crimson light swirled around him, and his eyes were once again consumed by bloodthirsty madness.
The tattered fleshy wings suddenly unfolded, and at the same time, a pair of enormous fleshy wings appeared in the sky, blotting out the sun and enveloping the entire battlefield in his blood-red shadow!
"Great Annihilation!"
Chapter 443 Fated Showdown
Aatrox's outstretched wings cast a shadow that blotted out the sky. At this moment, his eyes were fixed on Zolani. Only by completely killing this cowardly Icathian could he find true peace.
Zoranny had been afraid that Aatrox would unleash his true power and crush her in one fell swoop, because Aatrox had been too calm before, unusually calm... But now that she saw him unleash his ultimate attack and go berserk, she smiled with relief.
She could finally stop living in fear. Aatrox was powerful, but not invincible. Besides, she felt that a mad enemy was easier to deal with than a rational one.
Zolani mustered her courage to face the enemy. She also swung her hands, and endless chains extended from behind her, defiantly dominating the other side of the sky.
When ancient enemies begin to fight, all things will wither in their rage.
A fiery red light pulsated deep within Aatrox's chest. He appeared in Zoranny's form as a blur, gripping his greatsword tightly and slashing forward, unleashing a crimson arc of light.
Zolani retreated to avoid his attack, and the earth shattered under his swings. House-sized boulders rolled out and landed on the battlefield a hundred meters away, crushing Xerath's puppet.
She swung several chains backhand, attacking Aatrox from all directions at extremely tricky angles. Instead of retreating, he advanced, his greatsword twisting violently, creating a blood-red storm that swirled around the blade. (The last two lines appear to be unrelated and possibly machine-generated gibberish.)
Aatrox swung his greatsword in a wide arc, and the surrounding wind pressure caused the chains to wrap around the sword, frantically retrieving them and pulling Zoranny back like a ship reeling in an anchor.
The chains coiled into a steel tunnel, dragging Zoranny into it like a meat grinder. She crossed her scythes in front of her to block Aatrox's full-force thrust.
As the weapons clashed, a sword blade shot out through her body, the red sword shadow striking a mountain peak thousands of meters away. The chain-like passage exploded, and Zolani's body burst into a cloud of blood mist.
The constricting force from the sword's edge tore apart all the fascia in her body, causing her to fall to the ground like a rag doll. From within the thick smoke, a chilling laugh echoed, as if mocking Aatrox's powerlessness.
Zolani was once again suspended in mid-air by chains. Her body was limp and boneless, her limbs hung limply, and her head was tilted back by gravity, making her look like a cripple. However, the bloodthirsty light in her eyes became particularly eerie.
The moment their eyes met, Aatrox felt his heart stop for a second. The next second, his hands involuntarily raised his greatsword and began to mutilate himself, just like a mad penitent whipping his body with thorns.
His bare chest, which was not covered by armor, was immediately cut with deep bloody craters, leaving crisscrossing scars on his body, as if a map of flesh and blood had been carved on the spot.
The others were terrified and dared not approach, fearing that Aatrox would suddenly slash them with his sword, and could only watch helplessly as he continued to harm himself.
However, Aatrox's determination to kill Zoranny overcame everything. The former Celestial Warrior quickly broke free from the control of his will, roaring as he twisted the greatsword out of his wound, drawing a pool of blood.
Zolani did not waste any of the blood. She collected all the blood that flowed on the battlefield, and the blood within a hundred miles formed droplets that flew towards the altar.
Her blood servants, bleeding from all seven orifices, knelt down, their bodies turning into pale, desiccated corpses in the blink of an eye. Kai'Sa felt a surge of blood coursing through her body, but the Wild Hunt quickly suppressed it. The flesh of the Darkin was also torn away, emitting painful howls.
The blood droplets that flew in from all directions eventually gathered beneath her into a pool of blood with a foul stench. As everyone watched the chains submerge Zolani in it, they immediately sensed something was wrong.
Horaz summoned a bolt of lightning to strike the blood pool, which turned into an exploding fountain, but it was to no avail.
Zolani seemed to dissolve instantly in water; as she sank into the pool of blood, she became one with the blood, becoming nowhere to be found, yet omnipresent.
The Darkin all wanted to stop Zolani from transforming again in the pool of blood, but they were also afraid of getting tainted by that filthy blood and falling into Zolani's control.
Only Aatrox plunged into the pool of blood, wildly swinging his greatsword and churning it up, but he still couldn't find Zolani in it.
……
The battle intensified, but Kai'Sa was too busy to attend to the Darkin's war.
She is currently trying to distract Xerath by herself, as Renekton is holding him too tight. Using the Ancient Hourglass will seal him away as well.
She didn't have a good impression of Renekton to begin with, and whether or not he was sealed was irrelevant to her. However, the Ancient Hourglass was obtained from Nasus, and since she had taken it from him, she had to do as he said.
Otherwise, she would have just used Charikar to launch an indiscriminate attack, like Tayanari in Ragnarok, and let Moonfire engulf everything.
Under the power of the Celestials, not only the Darkin, but even Ascended beings like Nasus have no chance of escape. Enemy or ally, all will be annihilated!
Of course, that's just an ideal situation... Putting aside whether Kai'Sa can activate Charikar to summon Moonfire Falls, even if she succeeds, others are not necessarily going to die.
Of the ten Darkin who attended the meeting, three escaped. Not counting Tayanari himself, and excluding one who died in battle and one who gave up the fight, only four people were actually affected.
It's less than half deadly, so the direct lethality rate is extremely low. If used, it's easy to miss the enemy and end up killing your own people instead.
The roar of the Crocodile God echoed in his ears, and Renekton seized an opening as Xerath continued to rain down fire.
He grabbed Xerath's chains and slammed them against the ground. Each impact with the ground was like a firecracker, generating an explosion from the resulting energy surge.
Kai'Sa didn't know if the energy body would make her dizzy. She saw Xerath being flung around in a daze, and then Renekton grabbing his neck and slamming him to the ground repeatedly.
Renekton's madness was uncontrollable; his attacks were like those of a wild beast, completely unpredictable. He suppressed Xerath halfway through his attack, then suddenly flung him away.
However, he swung his axe directly at Nasus, and the Jackal God smashed Xerath into the ground with a single blow, then continued to hurl his axe into the earth.
The glass floor of the grand theater melted again under the intense heat emanating from Xerath's body, and his body suddenly burst out with a dazzling light. In the blink of an eye, Xerath had escaped from Nasus's grasp.
