Study Days at Hogwarts
#1812 - New Friends
Rather than being known in Europe for killing the second-generation Dark Lord, Alice felt that her father would prefer to be known in this way.
The blonde girl opposite her was still talking incessantly. Alice knew that the other party was deliberately trying to befriend her. She didn't dislike the girl and was willing to spend some time getting to know her.
Because according to Albert's "Hogwarts Memoirs," it's highly likely that the friends you make on the train will become your close friends during your school years.
So, when Daphne felt that she might not have much magical talent, Alice subconsciously used the gentle tone she usually used to comfort children and said, "Actually, you don't need to worry about your talent at all. The reason you can't master magic well is mostly because you've just started learning it."
"Really?"
Daphne looked at Alice suspiciously. The tone of her voice sounded like she was comforting a child.
"Really. I don't deny that there are indeed a small number of wizards who are exceptionally talented, but the upper and lower limits of most wizards are in the same range. It takes long-term training to use magic skillfully." Alice seemed to see through the girl's worries and softly comforted her, "So, you don't need to worry. Even students from wizarding families don't necessarily have much of a lead. Everyone is only fifty steps ahead of a hundred steps. We still need to learn a lot of things."
Daphne secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She was really afraid that her talent was too terrible. If she really ended up at the bottom of the school, it would be better to go back to Eton College.
"What about you?" Daphne asked with curious eyes, "You must already know a lot of magic!"
"Me? A little!"
Alice imitated her father's gesture of pinching her index finger and thumb together. In fact, with her ability and talent, she could self-study most of the first to third-year courses if she wanted to. The main reason Albert never specifically taught her was that he didn't want Alice's childhood to be spent painfully studying.
"I've heard that Gryffindor is the best of the four Hogwarts houses."
After the two became a little more familiar, Daphne subconsciously began to inquire about Hogwarts-related information from Alice.
"Are you going to Gryffindor too?"
"Me? I think I'll probably go to Ravenclaw. My mother was a Ravenclaw student." Alice, who liked peace and quiet, didn't want to go to the noisy Gryffindor.
"But I remember Albert Anderson seems to be from Gryffindor." Daphne had bought a lot of extracurricular books and had a superficial understanding of the British wizarding world.
The two chatted about many things without realizing it. Daphne was very talkative and knew how to interact with people. It could only be said that she was indeed from a noble family. Even though she was always chatting and trying to get some information from Alice, Alice herself didn't mind letting her take advantage of her and generously revealed common sense about the wizarding world to her.
Therefore, with the deliberate catering of both sides, the communication was still pleasant, and they had initially established a friendship.
Until around half-past twelve, a smiling woman with dimples knocked on the door of the compartment, interrupting the friendly exchange between the two.
"Dear, would you like to buy some food from the trolley?"
"Give me two of everything."
Daphne immediately took out a handful of Galleons from her robe pocket and bought a lot of curious snacks.
"Want some?"
Daphne never thought that Alice would be short of money, but she was a little curious about her indifference to these snacks. However, she still handed a box of Chocolate Frogs to Alice, preparing to share the snacks with her new friend.
"No, I'll eat lunch first!"
Alice didn't touch the box of Chocolate Frogs that Daphne handed her. She took out a strange square wooden box from her suitcase. When she opened it, there was actually heat coming out of it, which immediately attracted Daphne, who was unwrapping a Cauldron Cake.
"What a sumptuous lunch!"
Daphne looked at the steaming lunch and felt very surprised. Even though she had eaten a lot of delicacies, she couldn't tell which country's cuisine it was from.
Anyway, it definitely wasn't British.
"Kara, the house-elf, helped prepare it,"
Alice took out the steaming food from the wooden box.
"House-elf?"
"A humanoid magical creature similar to goblins, serving wizarding families and also an important member of the family." Alice waved her wand and conjured cutlery out of thin air, handing one set to Daphne.
"Is this how all wizards are?"
Daphne stared at Alice in stunned silence, extremely envious of her ability to use magic so casually.
"I don't think so. Many wizards actually don't live as well as Muggles... I mean ordinary people!" Alice knew very well that her family was just a special case and didn't forget to add, "This is just a very simple summoning charm."
Daphne nodded stiffly, definitely not believing it in her heart, but thinking that Alice was the daughter of that Anderson, her mood improved a lot.
After sharing Alice's lunch, Daphne, who was only half full, took out her own snacks to share with Alice. The latter only symbolically ate a few Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans before not touching any other snacks.
"Aren't you going to eat?"
"No."
After learning that eating less sugar and having a scientific and reasonable diet helps delay aging, maintain youth, and make the skin better, Daphne also silently gave up the half-eaten Cauldron Cake and took out the books she bought from the witch beauty shop from her suitcase and silently read them.
After a while, she stuffed the book back in and picked up the remaining Cauldron Cake and continued eating it. Anyway, there were beauty potions, and she could also drink beauty and nourishing tea.
Thinking about it, Daphne was surprised to find that Alice actually took out afternoon tea and snacks from the wooden box to share with herself.
The two chatted all the way. When approaching Hogwarts, the sky outside gradually darkened, and there was obviously a tendency to rain.
Soon, heavy rain pattered on the windows. Daphne noticed that Alice, who was looking out the window, seemed to be in a better mood.
"Do you like rainy days?" Daphne couldn't help asking.
"No, it usually rains on the first day of school." Alice said something confusing.
Before Daphne could ask again, Alice reminded her that it was time to change clothes.
Soon, the train began to slow down.
Hogwarts had arrived.
The Alice chapter is probably around thirty to forty thousand words.
