Congress elders have so far adhered to their promises and have not forced Shastri to step down just because public opinion has deteriorated.

But Shastri knows that if he does not address the current public opinion issues, his political career will soon be over.

So he doesn't want to take all the blame for the failure.

In addition to Shastri, the Indian Army is also under severe criticism.

So Shastri had frequent contacts with senior army generals. Finally, senior army generals began to speak out, and their words and deeds all suggested that India's current situation was not caused by the army's lack of courage, but by the fault of a certain person.

Even former Defense Minister Menon and frontline commander Kaul came out to say that the defeat to the Chinese army was not the army's fault, nor theirs. It was caused by Nehru's ambition and wrong decisions.

Nehru certainly made mistakes. Their blatant attempt to shift the blame did improve Shastri's standing with public opinion. However, it also angered Nehru supporters within the Congress Party, leading to daily internal strife. Even many Congress veterans criticized Shastri's actions as inappropriate.

No matter how great Nehru was, he was the leader of India's independence movement and the leader of the Congress Party for decades. Now that he has just passed away, it is unacceptable to criticize him like this.

But this is just some internal turmoil. The most serious problem facing the Congress Party right now is its division.

Because Desai pretended to be dead at a critical moment, the Congress Party leaders were very dissatisfied. So they launched a fierce attack on Desai and even asked Shastri to remove Desai from his position as finance minister.

Desai has always had a bad temper. Seeing such criticism from within the Congress Party, he chose to leave the party in anger.

Desai is not just one person; he represents the right wing of the Congress Party. A large number of senior figures within the Congress Party support Desai's position, believing that the state should not interfere in the economy, let alone nationalize enterprises.

So after Desai left the Congress Party, he quickly reorganized a new Congress Party. These people were the ones who followed Desai out of the original Congress Party. Desai publicly declared that their Congress Party was the orthodox successor to Gandhi's thought.

This was an open split in the Congress Party. Desai was a veteran of the Congress Party and had followed Gandhi very early on.

So his influence was huge. His departure was a big blow to the Congress Party.

But the split in the Congress Party is not over.

The radicals within the Congress Party were very dissatisfied with the Congress Party's choice to bow to China. So they broke away from the Congress Party and quickly merged with the Indian People's Alliance to form a new Indian People's Party.

The Bharatiya Janata League is also a political party with relatively large membership and great influence in India, with more than 100,000 members.

The core members of the Indian People's League are all from the Brahmin caste.

Mainly represents the Hindu sectarian forces in North India.

Their initial political propositions were very radical: to reunite India and Pakistan by force; to oppose the abolition of landlord ownership; to oppose the socialist system proposed by Nehru; to advocate cultural retrogression and establish a Hindu state based on the principle of "one country, one nation, one culture and legal system".

It belongs to the extreme faction of Hinduism. So when Nehru was in power, he always attacked the Bharatiya Janata League.

But the Indian People's League has a complete and strict organizational structure.

The grassroots organizations were sound. So even after being attacked several times by Nehru, the People's Alliance still could not be stopped from expanding.

This Sino-Indian War resulted in India's disastrous defeat, and widespread anti-Hindi, anti-Hindu sentiment and the expulsion of Hindustani groups occurred across India, with much bloodshed and violence.

These events naturally provoked a backlash from the Hindustani community and the Hindu religion. Soon many people turned to support the Bharatiya Janata Party's position, believing that India should be "one country, one nation, one culture and one legal system."

It is proposed that India is the India of the Hindustani people and that India should become a Hindu country.

Extremist ideas quickly fermented. These extremist forces suppressed by Nehru became increasingly active. As a result, within less than two months, the number of members of the Indian People's League exceeded 200,000.

At this time, some members of the Congress Party formed a coalition with the Indian People's League to form the Bharatiya Janata Party. As a result, the number of Bharatiya Janata Party members quickly doubled to nearly 500,000.

The BJP has openly declared that it wants to eliminate Muslims in India, eliminate communism in India, and realize a Hindu state in India. They also stated that they do not recognize the Sino-Indian Boundary Treaty signed by Shastri.

Amidst India's current disastrous defeat, a new political party has suddenly emerged with such strength and resolve that it has garnered widespread support from the Indian people, particularly in traditional Hindu regions, directly shaking the Congress Party's rule in many areas.

The Indian National Congress, led by Nehru, was a hardliner compared to Gandhi at the time of independence. However, after coming to power, it became more moderate, suppressing extremists and balancing the relationships between various factions.

But this does not mean that the Congress Party is really a sick cat.

The development of the Bharatiya Janata Party has directly shaken the Congress Party's control over the core Hindu areas.

Therefore, the local forces of the Congress Party chose to take action against these people, just like they did with the Communist Party of India before. They did not take harsh action against them before because they only shouted slogans and did not have any substantial impact on the rule of the Congress Party.

Now these people are inciting the core Hindu areas, which directly touches the core ruling areas of the Congress Party.

As a result, the BJP's response was tougher than that of the CPI.

After all, the BJP is a radical force, even uttering slogans like "kill all Muslims." The CPI, while also a left-wing party, cannot shout such slogans.

Therefore, as soon as the local Congress Party took action, the Bharatiya Janata Party launched several armed attacks against the Congress Party forces in succession, killing several local Congress Party leaders.

This angered the entire Congress Party elders. After all, the Indian Congress Party has already been fighting in the local area.

But there was no suicide attack on the Congress leadership like the BJP did. So Shastri directly declared the BJP an illegal organization and wanted to ban it.

But the BJP is the kind of faction that becomes more exhilarated the more you attack it. The radical BJP fears not being attacked, but being forgotten. Consequently, they are becoming increasingly excitable, launching larger and more widespread attacks against the Congress.

Even Shastri's motorcade was attacked by the BJP, which scared Shastri into being hospitalized.

The Congress Party could no longer tolerate this and immediately deployed military and police forces to impose martial law in Indian cities, and then began to arrest Bharatiya Janata Party members across the country.

The Congress Party couldn't defeat the Chinese army, couldn't defeat independent forces at the local level, and couldn't defeat the BJP in its core areas of control. So the Congress Party really took ruthless action against these unruly BJP members who launched armed attacks at the slightest provocation. Large numbers of senior BJP leaders were arrested.

Unfortunately, the current environment is very unfavorable to the Congress Party.

At the same time, the BJP's approach is completely different from that of normal political parties. In other words, the BJP's approach is different from any of the Congress Party's previous opponents.

They are extremists, operating without any rules. If you arrest one of me, I'll organize an attack. I'm not afraid of death, and I have plenty of ways to organize all kinds of attacks.

Moreover, people in traditional Hindu core areas already have various grievances against the Congress Party. Now that the Congress Party has taken a ruthless approach to the BJP, it has actually made many young Hindus more supportive of the BJP's stance.

So much so that at the beginning of 1962, the Bharatiya Janata Party announced that their membership exceeded 100 million. The Bharatiya Janata Party also clamored that it would soon become the largest party in India.

He is not afraid of the attack from the Congress Party at all.

On the contrary, the harder the Congress strikes, the more support the BJP will gain from young people in Hindu regions.

Of course, with the rise of the Bharatiya Janata Party, ethnic and religious conflicts in India have become increasingly intense, and bloody incidents caused by ethnic and religious conflicts have occurred everywhere.

Some states were once relatively stable and had no intention of seceding from India. However, after the BJP loudly promoted its political ideas and gained support from many Hindu youth, these states began to become unstable.

What is an extreme force? It is the one who is self-centered.

Those who follow me will prosper, and those who oppose me will perish. This practice of Hindu extremists has provoked resistance from other religious sects.

At this point, the entire country was in turmoil, and the Congress Party itself was in even greater disarray. The Congress Party's primary concern was whether it could maintain its position as the ruling party in the upcoming elections. The split in the Congress Party was a severe blow to its strength.

The internal situation is too chaotic, and the Congress Party has no time to declare an independent "Assam".

The Congress Party has no energy to respond to diplomatic activities between China and Nepal, the Kingdom of Sikkim and Bhutan.
