Gotham Gazette Entertainment News Flash:
World-renowned magician Zatanna Zatanna will hold a solo performance at the Gotham Grand Theatre this Friday night. The stage artist, hailed as the 'Queen of Magic,' has chosen Gotham as the final stop of her global tour this year, following 24 sold-out performances in Rome, Paris, London, and Vienna. According to sources, Ms. Zatanna's visit to Gotham was at the personal invitation of Wayne Enterprises Chairman Bruce Wayne, and she will be staying in Gotham for a period of time to develop new tour plans.
Duke Thomas placed the newspaper on the convenience store counter and glanced sideways at Dane, who was looking down at his phone browsing news.
"Did you know that Wayne Enterprises has been making more moves lately than all the crime groups in Gotham combined?"
"I don't know, but this magician has a very graceful figure."

……
The Gotham Grand Theatre was packed to capacity that night, with even the second-floor boxes filled with familiar faces from the celebrity circle. Many people had come to see Zatanna Zatanna's final tour performance of the year: those who had already seen her perform still found it unforgettable, while those who had only heard of her name but never seen her wanted to witness her talent firsthand.
Meanwhile, below the stage, near the aisle, a man in a black turtleneck sweater was leading a group of guests who had lost their way.
“Being late is not how you treat guests, Bruce,” Dick Grayson leaned close to Bruce’s ear.
"I think we're not too late. The air conditioning is at its most comfortable right now," Tim said casually.
A few minutes later, an usher, shining a flashlight, finally led the late Wayne team to their private box on the second floor.
Bruce walked in front, followed closely by Dick and Tim, with Wang Baixi in fourth place and Cassandra at the back.
“I don’t understand why I have to come along just to watch a magic show,” Wang Baixi complained. “I could have met this Miss Zatana in a more formal setting, why do I have to sit among a bunch of rich people and enjoy this noisy environment?”
“Your Majesty,” Bruce said unhappily.
"Sigh, you're the boss, I'll listen to you." Wang Baixi sat down helplessly and loosened his tie by half an inch.
Then, all the lights in the venue gradually dimmed, leaving only the spotlight in the center of the stage shining in the darkness.
A white beam of light shone on the center of the stage, circling an empty area. Smoke billowed from all sides, swirling and taking shape in the white spotlight. Whispers rippled through the audience as everyone held their breath, anticipating the figure emerging from the mist.
"Wow……"
Zatana Zatala stood in the very center of the light.
Her long black hair, draped from beneath her magician's hat, fell over her shoulders, cascading over her white collared shirt and the short black swallowtail blazer draped over it. The blazer was slightly open, while the fitted corset accentuated her clean, decisive, and voluptuous figure.
Her classic fishnet stockings encased her long, shapely legs, captivating everyone's attention.
“Good evening, Gotham,” Zatana said warmly.
A slight smile played on her lips; despite having rehearsed countless times, she still thoroughly enjoyed herself.
Then she snapped her fingers, and a pure white dove appeared out of thin air in her palm. The dove spread its wings and flew toward the audience, but in mid-air, it turned into a shower of rose petals.
Audiences who had never seen anything like it before were already clapping and applauding, while those who had seen it before were eagerly anticipating what other performances would follow.
“This is just an appetizer.” Zatana winked at the audience.
The next second, a mahogany round table slowly rose from the bottom of the stage.
A black velvet tablecloth covered the table. Zatana walked halfway around the table, raised her hand, lifted a corner of the tablecloth, and pulled it off the table with a jerk, while the half-person-tall crystal vase on the table remained unmoved.
Before the applause had even subsided, she pointed to the crystal vase again.
"Promoted."
Under the watchful eyes of everyone, the water in the vase began to rise against gravity, eventually condensing into a perfectly transparent water sphere in mid-air.
"To carry out".
She extended her index finger, and the water sphere quickly unfolded and expanded. When the water curtain was fully spread out, what was revealed inside was a bird's-eye view of Gotham's night scene.
Wang Baixi's eyes flickered slightly, and he suddenly felt that this magic trick was much more interesting than he had thought. "This isn't special effects, is it?"
“This isn’t special effects,” Bruce replied.
Next, Zatana took out a deck of cards, shuffled them briefly, and then each card was flicked out of her palm, automatically arranging itself in a circle in mid-air, rotating around her like a ring of stars.
She casually walked to the first row of the audience, pulled a two of diamonds from the pocket of a middle-aged man's suit, and one of the cards in the deck automatically flipped over, revealing it to be the same card.
"How could there be playing cards in my pocket?!"
“Sir, your pocket is more cooperative with me than you are,” Zatana said with a smile, handing the cards back to him.
The entire theater erupted in laughter, including the man himself.
After these outrageous performances, she raised her hand to let all the cards fall back into her palm, and said in a serious tone, "Ladies and gentlemen, the next performance will be a little dangerous, and I need a lucky audience member to assist me. Let's see who has the 'best' luck today?"
The spotlight swept across the audience several times before finally landing precisely on the VIP box area.
“The gentleman on the second floor, the one in the black suit with his tie half-loose,” Zatana pointed to Wang Baixi, “please come down.”
Wang Baixi pointed to himself, "Me?"
“Go on, lucky guy,” Dick shoved him gleefully.
Then, Wang Baixi was led onto the stage by two staff members. At this moment, a wooden box as tall as a person appeared out of thin air on the stage. Zatana was leaning against the box, looking gently at the somewhat bewildered Wang Baixi.
The wooden box has a simple design with no decoration on the surface. It only has an openable top cover and two round holes in the center of the box.
"Sir, what is your name?" Zatana asked.
"Wang Baixi".
"Mr. Wang, do you believe in magic?" Zatana asked him, tilting her head.
"In fact, I am proficient in magic, but I do not believe that such a thing exists."
Everyone present burst into laughter.
“Very good, then you shouldn’t be afraid of this.” Zatana smiled and gestured for him to lie down in the wooden box. Wang Baixi looked at the wooden box, which was big enough to fit an adult male, hesitated for a few seconds, but still lay down inside under the gaze of the entire audience.
Looks like a classic waist-cutting magic trick.
After the box lid was closed, only his head and ankles were visible outside.
Zatana waved to the side of the curtain, and two staff members pushed a large handsaw with a gleaming blade onto the stage.
She took the handsaw from the staff member, took two steps forward, and asked, "Mr. Wang, how are you feeling now?"
"It's a bit crowded."
"Then it might get even more crowded later."
Zatana took the handsaw and began sawing the wooden box without any hesitation. Wang Baixi stared wide-eyed as she pushed and pulled the saw back and forth.
It feels so strange!
Wood chips flew out from the saw cut, and the wooden box made a screeching sound as it rubbed against the saw. Wang Baixi could feel the wooden box vibrating violently around his waist.
But the saw blade continued relentlessly downwards, cutting into his flesh.
Haha, that magic trick was really amazing! Everything was so spectacular and dazzling...
Wait, wait, wait!
He suddenly couldn't feel his lower body anymore.
"No, you're really coming?" Wang Baixi told himself that Zatana and Bruce Wayne were friends and wouldn't do anything to harm him.
But he was still covered in sweat.
Finally, the saw blade emerged from the bottom of the wooden crate, completely splitting it in two, and so did the man!
"Alright, sir, how are you feeling?" Zatana handed a microphone to Wang Baixi.
"I felt like my upper and lower body were drifting on plates."
“You’re very humorous, sir,” Zatana replied with a smile, handing the saw to the staff member, clapping her hands with her sawdust-covered gloves, and muttering:
"Start the scoring!"
The two wooden crates slid on their own on the stage, and the gap between them widened.
There was at least four feet of space between Wang Baixi's upper and lower body.
He even tried to control his toes with his mind, but he couldn't feel where his lower body was at all. He bit his tongue to make sure he wasn't dreaming.
"Restore!"
The next second, accompanied by Zatana's obscure incantation, the two wooden crates slid together again and reassembled.
His missing lower body suddenly reappeared.
Okay, he can feel his toes moving inside his shoes again!
Amidst the gasps of the crowd, the closing music began to play in the theater. The wooden box was reopened, and Wang Baixi sat up inside, glancing down at his waist. Zatana smiled and took his hand.
"How are you feeling right now, Wang Baixi?"
"Uh, not so good, Miss. But judging from the performance..." Wang Baixi wiped his sweat and glanced at the enthusiastic audience below the stage, "it was truly a resounding success."
Chapter Seventy-Two: Cohabitation?
After the performance, the backstage corridor of the theater was piled high with bouquets of flowers that had been delivered from the audience throughout the night.
Bruce, with his VIP privileges, walked at the front. He had no interest in giving out flowers. Dick and Tim followed behind him, Cassandra walked next to Tim, and Wang Baixi, who had just come off the stage, was now at the back of the group, checking his shirt for any marks left by the saw as he walked.
Lying down, completely unharmed!
Before long, they arrived at their destination.
The door to the dressing room was ajar, and light leaked out from the crack.
Bruce raised his hand and knocked twice on the door frame. "Za, it's me."
"Come in," Zatana's voice came from inside.
The group pushed open the door and saw Zatana sitting in front of the vanity mirror taking off her earrings.
When she saw Bruce walk in through the mirror, she smiled slightly, placed the earrings on the tray, and turned away.
“Bruce, I didn’t expect you to be alive. I’m so glad you are.” She stood up. “If someone else had invited me to Gotham, I would have refused outright. But considering you just died once, I think I should give you this courtesy.”
“I’m happy for you too, your tour was a great success.” Bruce walked up and gave her a light hug. “I’m very grateful that you could come.”
