We are not far from the 60% threshold that Javits predicted could cause permanent damage to the body.
Tony rubbed his eyes, took a deep breath, and forced himself to calm down. He forced a smile and said, "Javits, look at New York in the last 72 hours. Anything interesting happening?"
He needs to distract himself, otherwise the anxiety of walking between life and death will break him.
The AI Jarvis spoke in a refined British accent: "Yes, sir."
Various images flashed across the holographic projection, all related to recent unusual events in New York.
Tony tapped and swiped his finger left and right, and suddenly saw a burning manor, which piqued his interest.
“Jarvis, what is this?” he asked.
"General Ross's private estate was attacked last night by an unidentified flying entity, codenamed Green Goblin."
"After being attacked, General Ross exhibited high-energy gamma radiation characteristics and the ability to grow to enormous size, and was tentatively codenamed Red Hulk."
"A fierce battle broke out between the two sides inside the manor. The main building was severely damaged, and Green Goblin was seriously injured. He was later rescued by two unidentified individuals."
"One is suspected to be the vigilante Spider-Man, and the other's identity is unknown."
Jarvis's voice was steady and clear, explaining the matter thoroughly.
Tony raised an eyebrow, flicked his finger to zoom in on the image and energy readings, and examined them closely.
He glanced at it and said with a hint of sarcasm, "This Green Goblin armor is obviously something Osborn made. I didn't expect that old madman to finally create a monster."
"And Rose, he turned himself into a big red sweet potato, tsk tsk tsk."
Tony appeared to be mocking and sarcastically commenting, but his attention was actually entirely focused on the energy readings. The Green Goblin's energy readings were extremely chaotic, a mixture of bioelectricity, chemical energy, and some kind of disordered neural discharge.
The black armor with its enormous compound eyes had an extremely vague energy signature, so much so that Jarvis couldn't even identify its type. Its movement trajectory and mobility were incredibly precise, seemingly beyond the capabilities of current technology.
"Interesting. When did this happen?" Tony asked, intrigued. "Is there anything else fun to do?"
"Sir, the crime rate in Hell's Kitchen has dropped significantly in the past week. According to anonymous tips and on-site traces, it may be related to Spider-Man and another flying individual."
"They're both very active. This individual pilot's technical approach is quite refreshing," Tony said with a forced smile.
The fact that even a genius like Tony admitted it was refreshing proves that he was quite interested in this flying vehicle, and perhaps he could find the answer to his heavy metal poisoning problem in this person.
Jarvis's steady voice continued: "In addition, an experimental accident recently occurred at the Osborn Corporation headquarters, and its core biotechnology research department has been shut down. Norman Osborn's only son is currently under police protective custody."
Tony tapped his fingers on the table as he watched and listened: the hearing, the Osborn Corporation's experimental accident, Green Goblin's attack on Ross, Spider-Man and the Mysterious Armored Man rescuing Green Goblin.
“Norman Osborn…” Tony was no stranger to this old rival. Although he disliked the old madman, he had to admit that the other party did have some talent in certain areas.
But Norman, this radical and stubborn madman, ultimately went too far.
But what about himself? He too is trapped in a cage by his own technology, constantly facing death.
A strange sense of shared misery welled up inside me.
No, I am Tony Stark, and I will find a solution!
Tony turned his gaze back to the holographic projection. Could these powers beyond conventional science be some kind of key to unlock the prison of death?
In a flash, an idea popped into Tony's mind: if he came into contact with these freaks, would it be possible to get some inspiration that could help him quickly find new elements?
Thinking of this, Tony stood up and stood on the black platform. The ground made a mechanical meshing sound, and the platform slowly opened, releasing several mechanical arms. Amid a series of crisp and pleasant clicking sounds, the Iron Man armor was assembled.
Jarvis, with his British accent, said, "Sir, your physical condition does not recommend outdoor activities."
Tony smirked: "Received, but I reject it."
"I am Iron Man, and Iron Man never waits for fate to smile upon him; he only takes fate into his own hands."
"Jarvis, keep an eye out for anything unusual. We're going to check out Hell's Kitchen!"
With a click, the mask closed, and the eyes lit up.
"set off!"
Chapter 33 Old Osborn's Decision
In the old bookstore in Hell's Kitchen, Lin Nan received a message from Harry.
Harry is now under police protective custody. Although he is safe, he is filled with anxiety.
He transmitted two key pieces of information via an encrypted channel: first, Norman's Project Nie had begun; and second, the police revealed that the military did not believe Norman Osborn was dead and were pressuring the police to assist in the investigation.
I wonder how things are going with Coulson. His anonymous message should have already caught the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D. It'll probably be long before they intervene to ease the pressure on the police.
As Lin Nan was pondering, his ears suddenly twitched, and he heard a buzzing sound with high-frequency energy vibrations from the sky.
He opened his eyes instantly, walked to the window, lifted a corner of the curtain, and looked outside.
The sky was just beginning to brighten, and the thin sunlight pierced through the mist, falling on the sparse crowds and vehicles on the street. Lin Nan looked up, and his enhanced eyesight allowed him to spot a golden-red dot of light hovering above Hell's Kitchen.
“Iron Man…” Lin Nan was somewhat surprised.
Why is Tony Stark here?
Lin Nan's heart raced slightly. Tony Stark is the eye of the storm in the Marvel story and the pinnacle of technology. What is such a person doing in Hell's Kitchen?
As his mind raced, a bold idea suddenly occurred to him: Could Iron Man be in despair due to palladium poisoning? Was it his new technological approach to armor that had caught his attention?
As soon as this idea came to mind, Lin Nan immediately had a number of ideas.
The situation is already chaotic enough; contacting Iron Man could very well cause the situation, which was under control, to spiral out of control immediately.
But doing nothing is unsatisfying, after all, it involves a huge amount of causal value!
Therefore, what needs to be done now is to guide. If, under one's guidance, one feels that the "knight" is valuable and can save his life, and then steps in to counterbalance the military, then three forces will have entered the fray.
Furthermore, Tony wields considerable influence within the military, cultivating numerous friends and minimizing enemies, ultimately escaping unscathed—isn't that wonderful?
He doesn't need to directly provide Tony with palladium for the time being, but he can offer some ideas to help Tony achieve his own breakthrough.
Lin Nan's gaze fell on the little thing Peter was fiddling with.
It was a homemade signal jammer, created by Peter by combining his biological characteristics with his self-taught electronics knowledge. Although it looked rough, it worked quite well.
Lin Nan walked over to Norman and said, "Tony Stark seems to be watching this. We need to leave him something to guide him."
Upon hearing the name, Norman's eyes snapped open: "Stark? What's he doing here?"
"He might be in trouble himself now. The core element in his Ark Reactor contains toxins, so he might be looking for a new alternative," Lin Nan said calmly.
Norman paused, a complex emotion flashing across his face, before saying with a hint of sarcasm, "Poisoned? How ironic, my old rival is also afflicted by the curse of knowledge..."
Lin Nan ignored Norman's taunts; his relationship with Tony could only be described as a love-hate one.
Turning to Peter, he said, "Peter, the jammer you made can emit specific frequency signals and even resonate weakly with your bioelectric field, right?"
Peter nodded, somewhat helplessly: "Yes, I wanted to try to see if I could use it to interfere with some electronic devices, but the effect wasn't very good; it's too unstable."
A sharp glint flashed in Lin Nan's eyes: "It's alright, Peter. I need you to adjust this jammer, combining my energy characteristics with yours, and launch it with a moderate intensity."
Although Peter didn't know what Lin Nan was planning to do, he still said, "I can try, but it will take some time."
Norman seemed to be deep in thought. His keen insight as a top scientist allowed him to instantly understand what Lin Nan was planning to do.
"Are you trying to use this signal to lure Stark?"
Lin Nan nodded: "Peter and I both have very special characteristics. Stark has the most advanced detection equipment and will definitely be able to detect this signal."
"And this special signal might give him some different insights."
"You know, although Tony Stark is arrogant and conceited, he is an absolute genius. He might get inspiration from this signal and create something."
Tony Stark in the comics can only be described as terrifying. He even dared to rebel against the Celestials. Although in the end, whatever he rebelled against always ended up being rebelled against by him, it also shows just how terrifying the technological capabilities of this core figure in the Marvel Universe are.
Norman looked at Lin Nan, his sharp gaze sweeping over her: "Lin, who exactly are you? You seem to know a lot about Tony Stark."
Although Lin Nan only wanted to say, "I'm just a Kamen Rider passing by," he ultimately didn't say it out loud.
He simply smiled faintly and said, "I'm just someone who wants to live in this world."
"Giving Tony Stark a new possibility could not only divert his attention from us, but could also very well win us an ally."
Norman was silent for a moment, then nodded and said, "He is indeed a powerful ally, but this plan is also very risky. We cannot leave any trace, and once Stark is really lured here, we should leave immediately."
“Of course.” Lin Nan looked at Peter. “Peter, set the signal duration to three minutes and set a self-destruct mode so that no trace is left.”
"clear."
Over the next few hours, Peter successfully modified the jammer. He went outside, climbed onto the roof of a nearby building, and placed the jammer inside the chimney.
Lin Nan activated the energy of the dream capsule, maximizing his perception and paying attention to any unusual movements nearby.
Norman, meanwhile, mentally reviewed the core data that could be handed over under Project Green Blood. He had to ensure that what he handed over would not cause any harm.
Stark's reaction speed exceeded their expectations; two minutes after the signal was sent, Lin Nan and Peter both looked up at the same time.
In their extraordinary perception, the golden-red armor appeared and hovered in the sky, this time lowering its altitude, and the buzzing of small unmanned reconnaissance aircraft could be heard.
"He really came. I hope everything goes well," Lin Nan murmured.
The sky outside the window was already bright, and the streets of Hell's Kitchen were bustling with noise, but the bookstore with its doors and windows tightly closed remained silent.
The signal transmitter in a rooftop chimney, having reached the end of its lifespan, emitted a slight crackling sound before quickly being destroyed. Corroded by its built-in chemicals, it turned into powder, mixing with coal ash.
The armor hummed for a minute before flying off toward Manhattan.
Lin Nan and Peter both breathed a sigh of relief. Suddenly, their pores stood on end, and they looked at each other.
Just as Iron Man flew away, something was scanning the area. This feeling was completely different from that of the armor; it was scanning from the sky.
Peter asked softly, "Lin, you felt it too? Was it a satellite?"
Lin Nan shook his head: "Whatever it is, we need to speed up our contact with the S.H.I.E.L.D.."
Norman, lying on the bed, nodded: "I agree, but I need a substantial gift. I believe S.H.I.E.L.D. has too many dangerous, half-finished projects like Project Green Blood."
"This little bit of stuff won't attract much of their attention. What they lack isn't dangerous goods, but answers to the problem of danger."
Lin Nan asked thoughtfully, "What do you want to do?"
A hint of pride and composure appeared in Norman's eyes. He curled his lips slightly, as if mocking himself: "Those green threads in my wound, although they are unstable factors in the serum, are also a valuable research sample."
"I believe that with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s biotechnology and research capabilities, they might be able to find a solution, which would be of great value to me and to them."
