She reached out her hand to Frey.
Frey stood at a distance, her amber eyes calmly observing everything.
It didn't move.
Sophia's heart skipped a beat.
She's screaming for help, why aren't you doing anything?
The Arctic Bird didn't care about any of that. It opened its beak, and a beam of ice-blue light condensed in its mouth, growing brighter and brighter.
Sophia's heart began to pound. Did Frey really not intend to intervene? Should she handle it herself?
In the instant she hesitated, Frey moved.
They only took one step forward.
Then it unleashed its magic.
It wasn't an attack, just a simple release of magic.
But this one action caused the entire cliff to tremble.
The concentration of magic in the air soared to a suffocating level, and the blizzard automatically parted and bypassed her.
The polar bird's body froze.
The cold light in his mouth dissipated, and his blue eyes were filled with fear—not fear of death, but an instinctive dread of something at the top of the food chain.
In its perception, the blonde woman before it was not human, but a mountain, a sea, an insurmountable barrier.
The Arctic Bird let out a mournful cry, losing even the courage to fight, and turned to fly away.
Chapter 6 Returning to My Home from My Past Life
Sophia breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the Arctic Bird fly away, thinking to herself: At least you still have some conscience.
But the next second, she immediately changed her expression and moved back to Frey's side.
"Teacher, I thought you weren't going to help. I really can't beat this guy," Sophia said with a pitiful expression.
Frey returned her a look of utter suspicion.
Sophia broke out in a cold sweat from that look.
"Sigh! Let's call it a day and head back."
As she spoke, Frey raised her hand and opened the spatial gate again, then slipped inside first, while Sophia mentally complained.
"It's only been a little over ten years, but your personality has changed so much! You always have this grumpy face, like someone owes you money. I'm the one who's really wronged, okay?"
After venting her frustrations, she followed them inside and then returned to Kyle City.
When Sophia's parents saw the two of them return, they quickly came to greet them.
"Lady Frey, is today's lesson over?" Bisis asked respectfully.
Frey glanced at the sky.
"That's all for today. I have some things to take care of and need to go back to the capital first."
After saying that, she casually tore open another space and prepared to leave.
But Sofia quickly called out.
"Teacher, since you come and go so easily, could you also take me to see the capital city?"
These words made Frey, who was about to enter, pause in her steps. She stared at Sophia, and then gave her a rare, familiar smile.
"Go if you want, Bisis, is that alright?"
She casually asked for Bethys's opinion.
Bixis naturally had no objection; it was a good thing to let her precious daughter go to the capital to broaden her horizons.
“No problem, this is a good thing. With Lady Frey here, my husband and I have no worries.”
"My dear, you must listen to Lady Frey."
Sophia nodded vigorously.
Then she followed Frey into the spatial rift, and the next second, they appeared in a manor that made Sophia feel both melancholy and familiar.
This manor is quiet and classic, exuding a high-class atmosphere.
This place was the nest she shared with Frey in her previous life. She never expected that Frey, who was already married, would still be living here.
This was a gift from the Empire to Su Lan, who at the time was an Imperial Warrior, a Holy Son of the Papacy, and a hereditary Grand Duke of the Empire.
Don't think this is all thanks to the god of fate.
Aside from her identity as a hero, she earned her titles as the Holy Son of the Church and the Grand Duke of the Empire through her own hard work and integrity.
"Lady Frey, you're finally back!"
As soon as they appeared in the manor, several beautiful maids rushed to greet them.
"Millie? Della?"
When Sophia saw the two maids, she felt a pang of nostalgia.
Because both of these maids were people who were by her side in her previous life.
The two maids were about to say something, but when they suddenly saw Sophia dressed plainly, they swallowed their words.
"It's alright, she's not an outsider, she's my new student." Frey could tell what the two girls were thinking.
Millie and Della were taken aback. They looked Sophia over carefully and then bowed respectfully to her.
"So when Lady Frey said she was going on a vacation, she was actually secretly going to teach students."
Frey let out a long sigh.
"I've worked hard for decades, can't I take a break? I wasn't planning on teaching students, but that old geezer Pope suddenly gave me a task. But thankfully, I'm very satisfied with this little girl. She's much more obedient than that brat Layla."
Sofia could only manage a forced laugh.
Millie and her companion were also somewhat embarrassed.
But then they remembered their real business.
“Oh, I almost forgot, Lady Frey, Miss Laila broke the Fourth Prince’s leg at the Imperial Academy. His Majesty has asked you to keep a close eye on Miss Laila. She’s been causing trouble for the past six months, and even Lord Vic can’t control her,” Millie said with a helpless expression.
Sophia's face darkened instantly upon hearing the name "Vic".
Because this Victor is Su Lan's best friend, to put it bluntly, his closest buddy.
Her first thought was that Vic, that bastard, had actually slept with her woman after she died.
Logically speaking, since he himself had already died, Frey being able to end up with his best friend was a pretty good outcome.
But now that she's back, I'm incredibly annoyed.
"Okay, okay, where's that brat?"
Frey was completely bewildered.
She had absolutely no way to deal with her daughter.
“Oh, well, Miss Leila should be at the academy arena right now,” Della quickly replied.
Frey sighed again.
"I understand. I'll go and bring her back right away. Please entertain my student."
After saying that, Frey disappeared.
After she left, the two maids looked at Sophia with gossipy expressions.
The two of them haven't changed much since more than ten years ago. After all, they are not ordinary people and have much longer lifespans. Millie is a half-elf and Della is a half-succubus.
Both of them were rescued by Su Lan from the slave market.
“Um, Miss Sophia, why don’t we go inside for some tea and snacks while we wait for Lady Frey and Miss Layla to return?” Millie suggested.
Sophia smiled and nodded. Perfect timing, she thought, since Frey wasn't around, she wanted to get some information out of her.
"Okay."
As she spoke, she followed the two men toward the castle.
On the way, Sophia asked a question, feigning curiosity.
"Hey, ladies, who is Frey's husband?"
Millie and Della were stunned for a moment, then looked at each other with strange expressions.
"Miss Sophia, didn't Lady Frey tell you?"
Sophia shook her head.
"No, I overheard the teacher mentioning that she has a daughter, but I've never heard her say who her husband is."
The two maids looked at each other, unsure how to respond.
"Um, Miss Sophia, you should ask Lady Frey about this yourself. As servants, there are some things we cannot say."
Sophia paused, realizing she couldn't say anything.
She didn't press the matter further, and the three of them quickly entered the Duke's living room.
As soon as she entered, she saw a huge portrait hanging on the wall.
He was a young man wearing silver armor, with blond hair and blue eyes, and a smile like that of a sunny, cheerful boy.
Sophia knew this person all too well; wasn't this her from her past life?
Tsk, what a pity, she's a thing of the past, now hanging on the wall as a souvenir.
Everything in the living room was still so familiar, giving her a feeling of coming home.
"Um, this older brother, could he be Lady Frey's husband?"
Sophia seized the opportunity to try and extract information from him again.
The two maids looked at the portrait, their eyes filled with longing.
