Her spirit was filled with genuine gratitude.

“If it weren’t for you, I and my people would probably be in trouble.”

She didn't finish her sentence, but everyone present understood what she was saying.

If Frey hadn't intervened, the Spider Kingdom would have faced only two possible outcomes.

They would either be wiped out in one fell swoop by the imperial experts hired by Count Vlad, or they would be forced to flee to the deeper, more decaying underground, where they would slowly perish in hardship.

Neither of these options would have led to the current outcome.

Frey didn't say anything more, just nodded slightly, then took two steps back, giving Sophia space.

Sofia walked up to Amelia and stared at her.

"Amelia."

She called out.

Amelia's eight eyes turned to her, and in those deep red pupils, Sofia's silver short hair and blue eyes were reflected.

"You helped me save my father, and I'll help you find a new home."

Sofia grinned and reached out to pat one of Amelia's front legs.

"We're even."

A low hissing sound came from Amelia's mouthparts.

That was laughter.

This time, it was genuine laughter.

"Even if both are settled?"

Amelia's mental energy carried a hint of playfulness.

"Little human, do you think we're even now?"

Sophia was taken aback.

“You saved your father, that’s your own ability, I just didn’t stop you.”

Amelia's eight eyes narrowed.

"And you, you found me a new home that's ten times better than the old one, and even had your teacher set up a barrier that even a king-level expert couldn't break through."

She paused, a hint of warmth emanating from her mental energy fluctuations.

"I'll remember this favor."

Sofia opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but when she saw Amelia's serious, deep red eyes, she swallowed the words back.

She smiled and stood up.

"Fine, take it if you want."

"But let me make this clear: I'm a very lazy person and don't like to bother others. You might never be able to repay this favor in your lifetime."

Amelia let out that hissing laughter again.

"That would be even better; the longer a relationship lasts, the more valuable it becomes."

Sophia chuckled at her words, shook her head, and turned to walk to Frey's side.

"Teacher, let's go back."

Frey nodded and raised her hand to tear open the spatial rift.

"Wait a moment."

Amelia's voice echoed in Sofia's mind.

Sofia turned around.

"what happened?"

Amelia stared at her for a few seconds, her deep red eyes filled with complex emotions, and it was impossible to tell what she was thinking.

"Sofia."

There was a sense of solemnity in her spirit.

"If you ever need my help in the future, you can come to me anytime."

She paused.

"If it's within my power, I will definitely not refuse."

Sophia paused for a moment, then smiled.

"Okay, I've got it."

She waved her hand and turned to walk towards Frey.

"I'm leaving now. Take care."

Frey raised her hand and tore open a spatial rift, filling the entire cave with a ghostly blue light.

The two walked in one after the other, and the spatial rift slowly closed behind them.

The blue light faded, and the cave fell silent again.

Amelia lay on the ground, her eight deep red eyes staring at the direction Sophia had disappeared in for a very long time.

Then she looked up and around.

The meticulously sculpted rock walls, the neatly arranged stone pillars, the stalagmites hanging from the dome, and the magic circle radiating warm light at the top of the cave.

This is their new home.

A new home that is ten times better than the old one.

Amelia let out a low hiss, a sound that echoed through the vast cavern, carrying a hint of warmth and a touch of determination.

Upon hearing the hiss, the spider monsters scrambled out from the corners.

They carefully moved their eight legs on the ground, beginning to earnestly explore this unfamiliar new home.

Meanwhile, a spatial rift opened in Sophia's yard, and Sophia and Frey walked out of the rift.

Sofia took a deep breath and relaxed completely.

"Finally, one problem has been solved."

She stretched and then turned to look at Frey.

"Thank you, teacher."

Frey waved her hand.

"Sofia."

"Ok?"

"There's something I need to tell you."

Sophia was taken aback. Frey's tone made her heart skip a beat, and she had a bad feeling.

"what's up?"

“His Holiness the Pope spoke to me a few days ago.”

Frey spoke, but her tone sounded troubled.

"pope?"

Sophia frowned.

"What does he want with you?"

"He asked me some strange questions."

Frey's gaze fell on Sophia's face, clearly observing her reaction.

"He asked me if I had been in contact with any unusual people recently."

Sophia's fingers trembled slightly.

Chapter 43: Burning in Vain

Frey's words were clearly loaded with hidden meaning.

She seemed to be reminding Sophia that the old pope might have sensed something, such as that "he" had returned.

But Sofia wasn't going to take the bait.

"Huh? Teacher, why are you telling me this? What does this have to do with me?" Sophia asked, feigning surprise.

Her expression was so convincing.

Frey looked at her like that, turned her head slightly away, and rolled her eyes hard.

That reaction clearly said: Keep pretending, keep pretending.

She was clearly holding back something, but in the end she put on a smiling face.

"Oh, it's nothing, I just said it offhand."

Frey's tone carried an indescribable displeasure.

"By the way, I should tell you that something big might happen to the Empire soon."

These words startled Sophia, and she was about to ask a question in return.

But the words she was about to say were cut off by Frey's single sentence.

"But this doesn't seem to concern you. You should just continue being a little kid."

After saying that, she raised her hand and tore open a spatial rift, then left.

They didn't even bother to say hello.

Sophia stood in the courtyard, watching the crack slowly close, her innocent expression gradually crumbling.

She pursed her lips and muttered something.
