A professor capable of teaching a foundational subject like Charms could easily find a more respectable way to increase his height, or even simply fly, but he chose to stand on books instead.
This puts into practice the saying that books are the ladder of human progress.
"The spell we are going to learn is a very basic and very simple spell. If you listen carefully to me, it will not be difficult at all."
"After all, the main purpose of using this spell as your first lesson is to teach you how to control your own magic and to recognize the importance of wand waving gestures and spells."
"And this spell is very simple. I believe some of you already knew it before you enrolled. Now, who can demonstrate it for us?"
As soon as Professor Flitwick finished speaking, a few confident young wizards immediately raised their hands, with Hermione's hand being the highest. As expected, she ended up standing on the podium, facing the feather in front of her.
"Yugadimurleviosa!"
As soon as Hermione finished speaking, the feather in front of her slowly floated up.
"Five points for Gryffindor, let's give Miss Granger a round of applause."
The entire classroom erupted in laughter. Ron clapped until his palms were red, while Kane asked curiously, "What's the use of these extra points? Can participation points be added to the final exam score?"
“No, I heard that if you get a high enough score, you can win the House Cup at the end of the term,” Harry explained.
Although Kane arrived at Hogwarts before Harry, he actually knew far less information. He decided to press further: "And what about the prize for the House Cup?"
"Hmm, the Great Hall will have that house's flag flying," Harry said after a moment's recollection.
So? That's it?
"Ah."
Kane's hands, which had been clapping rapidly, slowed down. Evil adults were using useless honors to coerce young wizards into competing against each other. I'll do it myself!
“Mr. Kanehis, why don’t you give a demonstration? As far as I know, you also practiced magic before the start of the semester,” Professor Flitwick suddenly said, looking at Kanehis.
“Professor, since Gryffindor has already added five points, perhaps we should give the other houses a chance?” Kane said this, but he didn’t hesitate and went straight to the podium.
He pulled out his wand, waved it, and chanted, "Yugadim Leviosa."
The wand's shadow twisted eerily for a moment before landing on the feather in front of it, and the feather slowly floated into the air.
"Gryffindor gets another five points, and the next two are Slytherin. Slytherin wizards, get ready!"
Kane returned to his seat, toying with his wand as he symbolically practiced the Levitation Charm a few times. This charm wasn't difficult; its minimum requirement was low, but its maximum requirement was very high.
A levitation spell that makes enemies fly is actually a very good control skill. Don't underestimate it just because the spell seems simple.
The one-hour spell ended quickly, and the young wizards left the classroom one after another. Professor Flitwick also packed up his things to leave.
Kane patted Harry and Ron on the shoulder and said, "Wait for me outside for a bit."
After saying that, he jogged to the podium and called out to Professor Flitwick: "Professor, I have some questions for you."
Flitwick was very happy to see Kane. After all, it was quite telling that a young wizard who didn't even need a password to meet Dumbledore chose to ask him instead of Dumbledore when he had a problem!
"Please ask if you have any questions," Professor Flitwick said with a smile.
Kane didn't speak first, but instead took the toad-shaped toad from his pocket and placed it on the podium.
“Professor, I think you should take out your wand and get ready,” Kane reminded him.
“Thank you for reminding me.” Professor Flitwick readily pulled out his wand.
Seeing this, Kane didn't hesitate and directly controlled the shadow to enter the body of Toad Laifu. Instantly, Laifu turned back into that disgusting appearance with glowing eyes and covered in pimples.
It watched as Professor Flitwick quickly stuck out his tongue, attempting to attack him, but ultimately the tongue struck a purple light barrier.
"This is the Ironclad Charm, a very useful spell. You'll learn it when you're in higher grades."
Professor Flitwick looked at Kane examining his purple light screen and offered an explanation, then asked, "Dumbledore did tell us that your... shadow magic can do such amazing things. Is there anything I can do to help?"
“Professor, if you hadn’t been wearing armor, you wouldn’t just have been injured by the toad’s tongue, but due to some inexplicable principle, it would have also taken an item from you.” Kane said, but Professor Flitwick was stunned halfway through.
"Ok?"
Kane nodded: "Would you like to give it a try?"
Professor Flitwick removed his armor: "Of course, please."
The frog seized the opportunity and stuck out its tongue again.
Along with Professor Flitwick's seemingly painful hissing and laughing, there was a clatter as the keychain hanging from his waist abruptly fell to the ground.
Chapter Twenty-Six: A cooking pot is a pot, but a crucible isn't?
“Oh, that’s really amazing. And although the tongue that hit me didn’t hurt much compared to other spells, the fact that it licked off my body is quite impressive,” Professor Flitwick said, reactivating his armor and looking at the toad on the podium.
“That’s it.” Kane said as he pulled the shadow that had attached itself to Laifu’s body, making Laifu normal again. “I can turn an ordinary toad into this state. Although a single toad is nothing special, a large number of them should cause a lot of trouble.”
Professor Flitwick picked up where Kane left off, continuing, "But you can't exactly carry around a hundred or so toads, can you?"
Kane nodded.
“Hmm, use your own magic to transform ordinary animals into magical creatures.” Professor Flitwick looked thoughtfully toward the Forbidden Forest. “Alright, not just animals. Anyway, I have a spell here that would suit you well: a summoning charm.”
Professor Flitwick tapped his wand as he spoke, and with each wave of the wand, several small creatures would appear in the classroom: a rooster, a lizard, a snake, and a bird.
"Although this spell is called a summoning spell, it is actually classified as a transfiguration spell because it does not summon a new life or transport creatures from other parts of the earth to this place. Instead, it is these animals that you created with your magic."
After Professor Flitwick finished speaking, he waved his wand, and all the animals summoned by the Summoning Charm in the classroom disappeared. Then he summoned a toad again.
"Try using your shadow to see if it can change this toad?"
Kane tried it, and the results were very encouraging. The shadow was very powerful; even magical creations summoned by the summoning spell eventually transformed into the shape of the Eternal Realm.
“This spell will be very useful to you. As far as I know, your abilities are not limited to just a little frog. You can also create tree spirits, and there may be more things I don’t know about.” Professor Flitwick said, writing down a note.
"The library's restricted section, the Transfiguration branch, a complete guide to summoning charms. Feel free to ask me anything you don't understand. Although Dumbledore and Minerva are also proficient in Transfiguration, one is the headmaster and the other is the vice-headmaster, and they are very busy. I'm different; I'm in my office whenever I'm not teaching, so feel free to knock on the door."
Kane happily accepted the note. As for Professor Flitwick's concluding remarks, he could interpret it as... he had lit up yet another professor's office on the Hogwarts map.
The two chatted for a while longer, showing their mutual respect and filial piety, before leaving the classroom.
The first thing I saw as I turned the corner was Harry and Ron crouching there.
"Why did you talk to Professor Flitwick for so long? If we go to the Great Hall now, will we still be able to get food?" Ron said quietly.
"Let's go take a look, maybe." Kane was also feeling a bit hungry, so he pulled Harry and Ron straight to the Great Hall. Sure enough, when the three of them got there, the stalls had already closed up, and the tables in the Great Hall were cleaner than their faces.
"I think I'm going to die," Ron said, barely breathing.
"Do you still have any spaghetti?" Harry asked, remembering how Ron had pulled spaghetti out of his pocket yesterday.
“We ate it all last night,” Ron said with a helpless expression.
"Forget it, I'll save us from this hell and hunger." Kane said righteously, leading Harry and Ron away from the castle. As for how they got into this hell and hunger...
Hmm.....
Hagrid's hut on the edge of the Forbidden Forest. At this time, Hagrid should be patrolling the Forbidden Forest with his Fangs.
"What should we do? Go to Hagrid's house for food? I think it's more reliable to ask Hufflepuff's classmates to take us into the dining hall," Harry said, his stomach growling.
"Don't worry, I absolutely won't let you go hungry today." Kane first took out the stones, gold, and wood from his pocket, then waved his wand, and the scientific machine quickly appeared in front of him.
He continued to rub the stone bricks by hand next to the science machine. After placing them on the ground, there were no branches or sticks. Kane looked at the Forbidden Forest and decided to act rashly.
He soon returned carrying a handful of branches and a pile of charcoal in his pocket.
Harry and Ron stared blankly at the scene. They had just been in a Charms class, and they hadn't been taught Transfiguration. Kane's method... was it right?
However, the person in question had no intention of responding to them at the moment. He was just quietly kneading the stew pot with his hands, and with another bang, a cooking pot with three wooden sticks supporting a large pot appeared in front of the three of them.
Kane then wandered around Hagrid's house a couple more times. A giant white radish? I want it!
Small pumpkins? I want them!
Cured pork strips? Yes! And I also want that half-bag of flour that somehow appeared out of nowhere!
After stuffing these ingredients into the cooking pot without any processing, you just need to wait quietly for the food to cook.
Harry and Ron, having witnessed Kane's utterly devastating performance in the kitchen, secretly resolved that they would never be allowed to eat a single bite of anything Kane had cooked!
Especially since even with this stuff, it's not guaranteed to cook properly!
Just as the two made up their minds, the cooking pot emitted a very human-like "ding," and the lid, somehow propelled by the food inside, flew off...
"Kane, do you think you secretly used Polymorph?"
"I remember the combinations that were put in just now were all very strange, but where did these big, delicious-looking meatballs in the pot come from?" Harry and Ron looked at the scene in front of them, which was neither illogical nor magical, in a back-and-forth manner.
Although Kane really wanted to say, "Mind your own business in the Eternal Realm," he didn't say it to avoid unnecessary questions. Instead, he reached out and picked up a meatball bigger than his fist and started gnawing on it.
"Why aren't you eating?" Kane took the first bite and immediately recognized the familiar taste, letting out a satisfied sigh.
Harry and Ron then realized that since there were no utensils, they simply grabbed the meatballs with their hands and started eating them, completely forgetting the vow they had just made in their hearts.
Just as the three were enjoying their meal, Hagrid's panicked voice suddenly came from afar: "Tooth, don't be afraid, no one is chasing us anymore!"
Kane glanced over instinctively and saw Hagrid's timid dog rushing towards him, crashing headfirst into the cooking pot and smashing it to pieces before finally hiding in its kennel.
Hagrid came running over, panting. When he saw it was Kane and the other two, and then looked at the wreckage on the ground, he realized what was going on: "Ah, you guys probably didn't have lunch, and then Yaya broke your pot... Don't worry, I happen to have a useless one in my house, I'll get it for you."
As he spoke, Hagrid went into the hut and took out a pot... a crucible, the kind used for brewing potions.
"Well, I hope this crucible can compensate you for your loss." Hagrid placed the crucible on the ground and smelled the pleasant aroma in the air. "Of course, it would be great if you could bring me a portion. I've been wandering around the Forbidden Forest with Tooth, and I'm starving."
“Me too,” Harry and Ron quickly chimed in.
Kane glanced at the cauldron in front of him... Things he created could only become raw materials if he destroyed them himself; anything destroyed by others or other dogs was just debris. Therefore, it was no longer possible to recreate the cooking pot by hand...
So, if we use a crucible... can we make food?
Chapter Twenty-Seven: The remaining ninety points are all about class hatred.
Kane casually placed two large pieces of meat into the crucible, then added a large pile of vegetables.
The moment to witness a miracle has now arrived. Without any warning, a large amount of food in the crucible began to change its form in a very strange way, from solid to liquid, and finally condensed into several round, transparent solids.
Everyone watched as these transparent solids were slowly dyed with color from the inside out, turning into the meatballs they had just put into their mouths.
"Wow...do you think house-elves cook for us like this in their kitchens too?" Harry looked at Hagrid, after watching Kane make two meals of meatballs full of magic and hard work using a homemade stone pot and a cauldron taken from Hagrid's house.
This is both magical and ruthless.
Ron thought for a moment: "Probably not. My mother knows so many household magic tricks, but she doesn't have the ability to turn ingredients directly into meatballs. House-elves probably don't either."
