Starting with summoning the succubus

"Ding!"

"Dawn Academy, we've arrived!"

As the announcement came on, Qi Lin and Elena got out of the car.

Looking ahead, a magnificent school came into view. It covered a vast area, with several brand-new teaching buildings and a complete running track in the center of the playground. The grass was lush and green, and the school as a whole did not show much wear and tear over the years. It was indeed a newly built school that had only officially opened and enrolled students seven years ago.

Dawn City Third Academy.

At this time, a large number of students wearing blue and white school uniforms had gathered at the school gate. There were white, black and Asian students everywhere. They entered the campus in groups of three or five and went to their classrooms to prepare for their daily morning reading.

"Wow, there are so many people..."

Elena clicked her tongue in amazement.

"Let's go."

Qi Lin led Elena straight into the campus.

However, they did not go to the classroom, but went directly to the director's office in the academic affairs office.

At this moment, there were two people in the office.

A middle-aged, overweight white man in a suit and glasses—the Dean of Students, Orlister.

The other was an Asian, wearing a silver-white trench coat with silver-white shoulder armor that had a metallic feel, making him look like a medieval knight's shoulder armor.

This is the uniform of the Dawn City Law Enforcement Bureau.

"?!"

The moment she saw this person, Elena's expression changed drastically, and she gripped Qi Lin's right hand tightly.

She was afraid.

Lower-level supernatural beings fear higher-level supernatural beings.

"Qi Lin, right?"

Seeing Qi Lin bring Elena in, the law enforcement officer said, "Very good, you've come to school obediently and even came here on your own initiative, saving me a lot of trouble. Let me introduce myself, my name is Zhou Yu, the captain of the third squad of the Dawn City Law Enforcement Bureau. You can call me Captain Zhou. I'm here today to deal with last night's fight and your illegal act of contracting a demon without reporting it. By the way..."

At this point, Captain Zhou glanced at Elena beside Qi Lin and said with a half-smile, "You're quite the ladies' man. I have a few demon tamer colleagues who are very envious after hearing that you found a succubus on your first contract."

"..."

Qi Lin was not surprised at all by the arrival of the law enforcement officers.

He had anticipated this situation before taking action last night... but he never expected it would attract a captain-level officer.

That makes no sense at all. How could an incident of this magnitude in Dawn City attract the attention of a high-ranking law enforcement captain?

Something bad is probably going to happen...

What kind of punishment will I receive?

Qi Lin asked Zhou Yu.

"To be honest, you went a bit too far."

Zhou Yu pulled up a chair and sat down, saying in a deep voice, "Everyone in Dawn City knows what our director's ideology is. He won't interfere with a certain degree of fighting between superhumans, but... last night you crippled Thomas's legs, leaving him disabled. In terms of the nature of the injury, this has exceeded what he has done to you in the past."

"So you knew about what he did to 'me' all along," Qi Lin said.

"So what?!"

Upon hearing this, the dean of students, Orlister, couldn't help but rebuke him, "You crippled Thomas's two legs! And you broke the hands of more than twenty other people. How can such a heinous act be compared to Thomas's usual petty squabbles with his classmates?! If you ask me, a student with such a terrible character should be expelled! Go to jail!!"

"A minor skirmish?!"

Upon hearing this, Qi Lin was so angry he laughed.

"Alright, shut up too. Did I tell you to speak?"

Zhou Yu gave Orlist a cold look.

"Uh, yes, sir..."

Orlister lowered his head sheepishly.

Zhou Yu looked at Qi Lin again, his voice low: "In short, that's the situation. If you're just beating up Thomas, even if it's just a simple fracture, it doesn't matter. We won't interfere with that level of retaliation."

The problem is, you've crippled his legs, completely crippled them, making it impossible for him to stand up again for the rest of his life… To be precise, the cost of making him stand up again is far more expensive than the value he can provide; it's not worth it.”

"value?"

Qi Lin quickly grasped this keyword.

"Yes, value."

Seeing that he understood, Zhou Yu smiled meaningfully and said, "Perhaps you don't know, but just two months ago, Thomas was forced to sign a contract with us, guaranteeing that he would join the Dawn City interdimensional exploration team after graduation to carry out interdimensional pioneering work. But now he's useless. Qi Lin, tell me, who will fill his vacancy after graduation?"

"Exploring another world?!"

Qi Lin was taken aback.

Thirty years ago, countless spatial rifts appeared around the world, leading to one otherworld after another.

Even now, these spatial rifts continue to appear, and countless unknown alien worlds await human discovery. Who knows what valuable resources those places hold?

Where there is demand, there is a market.

The "Otherworldly Pioneering Industry," which dispatches extraordinary individuals to other worlds for exploration, pioneering, and colonization, has emerged.

This is a highly profitable industry.

Once you find an alien world brimming with valuable resources, money will flow in like water.

However, the problem is that venturing into new worlds is a dangerous profession, extremely dangerous. The mortality rate among practitioners has remained above 90% for many years, because no one knows what they will encounter when they go to an unknown world.

It's possible that a single otherworldly virus could cause the pioneers to die instantly, passing away in another world.

Let me put it more clearly.

At this moment, Zhou Yu took out a contract from the table and handed it to Qi Lin: "Thomas has been crippled by you. According to relevant laws and regulations, you should go to jail for ten or eight years. What's more, you used unreported demonic power to beat him. With both crimes combined, you could even go to jail for more than twenty years."

However, if you sign this contract and guarantee that you will voluntarily join the Dawn City's interdimensional exploration team after graduation to carry out interdimensional pioneering work, then this matter will be settled.

Let's pretend nothing happened.

From now until graduation, you will receive $5000 in federal student aid every month, excluding school scholarships.

The highest scholarship offered by Shuguang College is 5000 per month, and I will help you apply for it.

In other words, all you have to do is sign a document, and you'll receive a total of 10000 yuan in subsidies every month, which is equivalent to a monthly salary of over 10,000 yuan, kid. As for the pioneer team's salary, it starts at 50,000 yuan a month. Just in terms of monthly salary, that's more than mine!

In the end, Zhou Yu couldn't help but laugh.

Qi Lin smiled too.

These guys who work in law enforcement don't live off a monthly salary.

As for pioneering teams... high risk, high reward, who doesn't know that?

The question is, will you live to earn and spend the money earned from exploring other worlds?

It's important to know that the otherworld exploration team is also known as the suicide squad!

Chapter 9 Second-Order Mage, Feng Shaoyuan

Alternatively, I can wait until I graduate next year and take on a high-risk job.

Either go to jail right now.

What would you choose if you were in my shoes?

“I’ll sign, but I’d like to add an additional clause.”

Qi Lin flipped through the contract, then looked at Zhou Yu in front of him: "For the Dawn City's interdimensional exploration team, a graduate who is a zero-level demon wielder is at most better than nothing, but a graduate from an extraordinary university is different."

"Ok?"

Zhou Yu raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

“Graduates of the Extraordinary University are at least third-tier extraordinary beings,” Qi Lin said slowly. “What I mean is, if I can be admitted to the Extraordinary University next year, could I finish my studies there first, and then come back to Dawn City to join the interdimensional exploration team?”

"Interesting, why not give it a try?"

Zhou Yu shook his head and chuckled, then walked to the computer and printer next to him and started typing on the keyboard, reprinting the contract on the spot.

As he typed, he said to Qi Lin, "I'll add a page to the contract for you now. As long as you can be admitted to a certain extraordinary university next year, you can go and complete your university courses. The contents of the contract can be implemented after you graduate from university... Note that it's an extraordinary university, not an ordinary university."

Soon, Zhou Yu printed out a brand new contract and handed it to Qi Lin.

Qi Lin sat down and began to slowly read through the contract line by line. After repeatedly confirming that there were no problems, he went to that idiot headmaster's desk, took a pen, and officially signed the contract.

"Keep it up!"

Zhou Yu took the contract, smiled, and patted Qi Lin on the shoulder: "If you can really get into the Extraordinary University, it will actually be a great thing for the pioneering team of Dawn City. In the pioneering team, zero-level extraordinary individuals can only be cannon fodder, while third-level extraordinary individuals have the opportunity to become core members."

"Captain Zhou, take care." Qi Lin smiled slightly.

Zhou Yu walked away.

……

The squad leader from the law enforcement bureau went to the campus parking lot, got into an expensive yellow sports car, and sped around the city. Instead of returning to the law enforcement bureau, he went straight to the headquarters of the Otherworld Pioneer Bureau in the city center and knocked on the door of the director's office.

"Enter."

An old man's voice came from inside the door.

Zhou Yu then pushed the door open and entered.

Inside the office, there was only one elderly man wearing a white shirt.

"Thomas's vacancy has been resolved."

Zhou Yu sat down in front of him, placed the document signed by Qi Lin on the table, and said, "However, Qi Lin requested to add an additional clause, saying that if he can get into the Extraordinary University, then the contract will be postponed until after he graduates from the university. I agreed."

"Oh?"

The old man took the document and looked at it, then frowned and said, "Have you thought about who will fill Thomas's vacancy next year if he really gets into the Extraordinary University? The pioneer team for next year is still short of several scouts."

"Don't worry, I have a plan. I'm leaving."

Zhou Yu waved his hand, got up and left.
