“The Brahmanical religion has been operating here for a long time, and that high priest is no benevolent person. It will not be easy for you to spread your teachings here, Master. In my opinion, you need to convert three people first before you can make a difference.”

"Oh? Which three? Please enlighten me, benefactor."

Kinnara's expression turned serious.

“Except for that thief, A-Liu.”

Qin Chuan slowly said:

"There is also 'Axiu,' who refuses to marry and chooses to be a prostitute, taking customers but not accepting money, only asking for a finger from them; and 'Adao,' a bully who uses his strength to oppress the villagers and commit all kinds of evil. These three can be said to be the epitome of the stubborn problems in this place, and also the tests that you, Master, must pass on your missionary journey."

Upon hearing this, Kinnara's expression turned solemn, and he firmly remembered the names "Ashu" and "Adao".

Just as he was about to ask for more details, two arrogant men dressed in Brahmanical attire walked into the inn.

Their gazes swept across the area, quickly settling on Kinnara. One of them, speaking in broken Mandarin, said coldly:

"So you're that foreign monk? The high priest wants to see you. Come with us!"

Conflict has already occurred.

Kinnara knew this was a direct reaction from the Brahmanical sect. He stood up and bowed deeply to Qin Chuan: "Thank you for your guidance today, benefactor. Kinnara will remember it. Farewell for now."

After saying this, he left with the two Brahmins, officially stepping into the vortex of faith in this country of Borneo.

After Kinnara left, Ao Run finally couldn't help but purse his lips and say:

“Master, this monk doesn’t seem to be anything special! He’s incredibly pedantic, rigidly adhering to the precepts, and doesn’t even dare to drink alcohol. He’s also slow and indecisive, struggling to deal with even a rogue thief. In my opinion, he’s not even worth a feather of Kong Xuan! I really don’t know why you’re so interested in him, Master.”

A meaningful smile appeared on Qin Chuan's face as he toyed with the wine glass in his hand and said leisurely:

"At this time, he adhered to the doctrines and was compassionate, so he naturally seemed rather uninteresting."

He paused, his gaze seemingly piercing through the river of time, gazing upon the predetermined future, his tone carrying a strange anticipation:

"But at this moment he is the Bodhisattva Kinnara of the Western Sect, but in the future he will be the Buddha Wutian who will stir up the Three Realms and even dare to occupy Mount Ling."

"Wu Tian... Buddha?"

Ao Run murmured the name, which was full of contradictions and domineering power. Although he did not know the specifics, just hearing the name made him feel a terrifying aura that reversed yin and yang and subverted orthodoxy!

Qin Chuan chuckled lightly and affirmed:

"And that Buddha Wutian is quite interesting."

Upon hearing this, all of Ao Run's dissatisfaction and doubts vanished instantly, leaving only intense curiosity and anticipation in his eyes.

If an existence can be described as "so interesting" by its owner, what earth-shattering changes must it undergo in the future?

"When will he become 'interesting'?"

Ao Run couldn't help but press for more information.

Qin Chuan picked up his wine glass, downed it in one gulp, and turned his gaze back to the window, towards the direction of the Brahman temple, his tone resolute:

"Three days later."

Having said that, he said no more, but leisurely poured himself a drink and sat quietly with Ao Run in the inn, as if waiting for something.

He was waiting, waiting to see if Kinnara, who had experienced the difficulties posed by the Brahmanical religion and witnessed the deeper evil and helplessness of human nature, would come to him again after three days, as he expected.

Chapter 19 Reversing Buddhahood to Become Demon, Wutian is Born

Three days later, on a desolate hillside on the border of Borneo.

Kinnara, the former great protector of the Western Sect, sat slumped on the cold rocks, tightly embracing a woman in his arms. The woman was exquisitely beautiful, but her face was pale, she was lifeless, and her body was cold and stiff; it was Ashu.

Kinnara's eyes were empty, devoid of their former compassionate brilliance, leaving only boundless sorrow that seemed to freeze the very soul.

He looked down at Ashu's seemingly sleeping face, his voice hoarse and broken, murmuring softly as if in a dream:

"You said... you would use your death to prove your innocence..."

"Let me see clearly just how...filthy these gods and Buddhas in the sky are..."

He slowly closed his eyes, tears silently streaming down his face. The events of the past three days flooded his mind like a tidal wave, bringing with them profound pain and absurdity.

Three days ago, he went with the two Brahmins to see the high priest.

The high priest sat on his high seat, his eyes sinister, with an arrogant air of superiority. He deliberately made things difficult for him, demanding that he convert the three most notorious "stubborn men" in the royal city within three days—the thief A-Liu, the bully A-Dao, and the prostitute A-Xiu.

If he can do it, then he will be allowed to preach.

Kinnara, through his profound Buddhist teachings and sincere goodwill, actually succeeded.

He guided A-Liu to a sudden realization and to vow never to steal again.

He subdued Adao with Buddhist teachings, persuading him to lay down his butcher's knife and agree to protect his village.

He entered Ashu's closed-off heart with an attitude of equality and respect, making her feel unprecedented warmth and understanding. All three were moved by him and were willing to change their ways.

However, when the Brahmin high priest saw that Kinnara could actually complete this seemingly impossible task, he not only failed to keep his promise, but also became angry and went back on his word. He not only refused to let him preach, but also slandered him as a demon monk and wanted to tie him up in the square and burn him alive in public!

With Kinnara's cultivation at the half-step Great Luo level, he could have easily revealed a miracle, exposed the lie, and even countered the High Priest.

But just as he was about to make his move, Ashu stepped forward. In order to save him, Ashu offered herself to the ugly and despicable high priest in exchange for him releasing Kinnara.

Thanks to Ashu's sacrifice, Kinnara not only regained his freedom but was even able to meet the King of Borneo, explain the advantages and disadvantages, and ultimately obtain permission to preach in Borneo. Judging from the outcome, he seems to have succeeded.

But Ah Xiu resolutely chose to commit suicide after the fact.

She left a will, wanting to prove with her death that she was not a prostitute who slept with anyone; although her body had been defiled, her heart and her love were pure!

It is also necessary to make Kinnara see clearly how filthy and despicable those who act under the banner of the gods are!

Kinnara was in unbearable pain. Carrying Ashu's body, he traveled day and night back to Mount Sumeru, the holy land of the Western Sect, and knelt down to beg the two saints to use their great power to revive Ashu.

However, he was unable to even see the face of the saint.

He received only a cold decree rebuking him for "being impure in his six senses, entangled with prostitutes, and tarnishing the reputation of Buddhism," and on this grounds, he was completely expelled from the temple!

This ruthless betrayal and stigmatization from the very source of his faith became the last straw that broke the camel's back, shattering his last belief.

In her memories, fragments of Ashu's past intertwined and surfaced.

She was born beautiful and was chosen at the age of eleven to be a "saint" who could only marry the king in the future. Unwilling to be controlled by fate, she chose to fall into prostitution as a form of resistance in the most extreme way.

After each client, she would cut off their fingers, both as revenge against men who only coveted her beauty and body, and as a way of sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss of self-destruction.

Deep down, she always longed for a pure and sincere love, untainted by any self-interest or desire.

Until Kinnara appeared, the equality and respect in his eyes, the compassion and radiance emanating from him, made her realize that this was the destination she had been searching for.

The two knew and loved each other, their feelings arising from love but remaining within the bounds of propriety. This sincere emotion, which blossomed in dire straits, was seen as "filthy" and "impure" in the eyes of those so-called gods and Buddhas!

As the memory ended, Kinnara suddenly opened his eyes!

Those once clear and compassionate eyes are now bloodshot, filled with endless grief, anger, and madness!

He looked up at the ethereal sky, at the gods and Buddhas high above, and let out a heart-wrenching roar:

"Filthy?! It's clearly your hearts that are already filthy, that's why you think we're filthy—!!"

With a roar, he coughed up a mouthful of golden blood, his face instantly turning ashen.

The Buddhist heart, cultivated through countless years of arduous practice and condensed with a lifetime of faith, shattered at this moment, accompanied by utter despair of faith!

His profound and vast Buddhist cultivation, like a river bursting its banks, began to fall and dissipate uncontrollably.

But he didn't care at all, and even showed a bitter smile of relief on his face.

Cultivation? Buddhist teachings?

Compared to Ashu's life, compared to this tainted true love, what do these things matter?

At this moment, all that remained in his heart was endless sorrow for Ashu and deep resentment towards the gods and Buddhas in the sky!

He struggled to his feet, and using his hands as a hoe, he dug a grave for Ashu on this desolate mountain.

He buried Ashu with utmost care, and every handful of soil that fell felt like it was hitting his heart.

When the last handful of soil covered her pale face, Kinnara stood up.

His once bald head was now covered with thick, black hair that fell to his shoulders.

The moon-white monk's robe he wore, which symbolized purity and holiness, had somehow turned into pitch black, as if it were soaked with all the despair and darkness in the world.

He was no longer the compassionate monk.

He stood before Ashu's grave, his voice cold and resolute, like a vow, or a farewell to the past:

"From this day forward, I am no longer Kinnara."

"I am—Wu Tian!"

The moment he finished speaking, endless black demonic energy, like a volcano suppressed for millennia, erupted from his body!

That demonic energy was cold, domineering, and filled with boundless resentment and a desire to subvert the existing order!

The aura emanating from him completely transformed from the peaceful and compassionate Buddhist teachings into a chilling and terrifying demonic nature!

To defy Buddha and become a demon—at this moment, success is achieved!

He took one last, deep look at the lonely grave, his voice tinged with a barely perceptible tenderness, and made a promise:

"Ah Xiu, rest here. One day, when I have obtained the Three Realms, I will come to fetch you."

Having said that, he resolutely turned around, his black hair dancing wildly in the biting autumn wind, his black robe fluttering in the wind, and he trudged through the desolate and withered ground, step by step, heading firmly toward the capital of Borneo.

His goal was clear and unambiguous—to become a Brahmin high priest!

Following the nauseating scent of Brahmanism, Wutian entered an inn in the royal city.

However, his gaze immediately sharpened as soon as he entered the room.

Inside the inn's lobby, Qin Chuan and Ao Run sat calmly, as if they had been waiting for a long time.

That faint aura belonging to the high priest originated from here.

Wutian's eyes instantly sharpened like knives, his demonic energy concealed yet causing the temperature in the entire inn to plummet. He stared at Qin Chuan, his tone icy and devoid of any emotion:

"Fellow Daoist, will you stop me?"

He made his intentions clear: revenge.

Qin Chuan smiled faintly and shook his head: "If I were to stop you, I wouldn't be waiting for you here."
