He looked around and hurriedly came over to help Lyle up.
"Mr. Plague Doctor, are you alright? Are you injured? Who was so rude as to push you down? Are you hurt? I'll give you a full-body treatment."
Mr. Raymond conjured a ball of holy light and placed it on Lyle's head.
Raymond is a powerful paladin, and it is well known that paladins' healing abilities are only applicable to emergency situations.
"Aaaaaaahhhhh!" Lyle felt like he had been ganged up on by ten people, while Mr. Raymond watched with a satisfied expression. The louder the scream, the better the treatment effect.
When Lyle came back to life, he was nearly exhausted.
"Doctor, you must have suffered a lot. Who did this to you? Tell me, and I'll get revenge for you."
Lyle was overcome with grief. "Mr. Raymond, I told you, can you commit suicide?"
“It’s alright, Mr. Raymond, I’m fine.”
Raymond then looked at Sister Elian, who had stood up from the ground, and asked, "Elian, do you need my treatment?"
"No need, I will." Before Raymond could respond, Elian summoned holy light to wash over himself two or three times.
They realized there was nothing more to be done in terms of treatment.
Raymond looked at Lyle, "Plague Doctor, where is the enemy?"
Lyle's eyes had not yet recovered from the bright light, and he could only point to a spot where Joshua had once stood, relying on his memory.
Raymond strode over aggressively, but upon seeing his target, he gradually slowed down and finally stopped there.
Raymond touched his chin, his voice filled with confusion and uncertainty.
"Plague Doctor, Elian, did you lose to... a Dark Chicken Demon?"
What the heck? Aren't they vampires?
Lyle approached and saw what Raymond had described as a dark chicken demon.
A black shield resembled an eggshell, two bat wings were ignited and torn like fleshy wings, the clothes on its body were burned to ashes, and the surface skin was a golden-red color similar to roasted chicken.
With Mr. Raymond's entrance special effects, Polivam had already turned to ashes, and Joshua, burned to such an extent, became the chicken demon that Mr. Raymond mentioned. Lyle suspected that if it weren't for that dark shield, Joshua would not have escaped death either.
“Your Majesty Raymond, this is a vampire, a vampire baron.”
"Do you think I'm a novice paladin? Does a vampire baron look like this?"
Lyle had nothing to say.
Just then, Joshua's dark shield shattered, revealing a man who was seven-tenths cooked inside. His head trembled as he raised it to look at Raymond before him.
Shout it out.
"Father!"
"!!!!" Lyle looked at Raymond as if he had seen a ghost, and Ariane also took five steps back.
Raymond roared, "I don't have a son like you." Then he turned to his estranged companion and said, "Really, believe me, I've never been married, so I don't have any offspring, not even illegitimate children."
Lyle was puzzled. Why would Joshua call him father?
This question was quickly answered.
The world is fair.
The power of holy light can summon reinforcements, and so can vampires.
The shadowy figures of bats, appearing from nowhere, coalesced into a single form.
The tomb, which had become hot and stuffy because of Raymond's appearance, suddenly turned cold.
The chilling air seemed to freeze blood. Lyle recalled the feeling when he first entered Cassandra Cemetery—a suppressed fear and an instinct to run away.
It was a man with a head of beautiful silver hair and a face that looked as if it had been carved by a knife. In his scarlet eyes, you could almost see yourself bleeding to death. He looked very young, but his eyes held an air of old age.
Looking at Joshua's miserable state, he said with pity, "My child."
Lyle didn't know the identity of the newcomer, but he felt the terror of the vampire, as if just one glance from him would drain all the blood from his veins.
The vampire's chilling gaze shifted in this direction, and upon seeing Raymond's dark gold armor, his eyelids seemed to twitch.
"Raymond."
Mr. Raymond fell into an unprecedentedly low voice, which seemed to carry a hint of weakness.
"Duke de la Riss".
"It's been a long time since we last met."
"Yes, back when you were a paladin, and now you are a vampire duke."
De La Riss's eyes held a nostalgic look, like an old man reminiscing about the past. "Time waits for no one. Raymond, are you going to kill my child?" His eyes widened in an instant, filled with rage. "Just like you killed my eldest son in the past, who was also your best friend."
Raymond took a small step back. "I'm sorry, Your Grace, for everything that happened in the past."
DeLaurence turned around, her back to Raymond.
"Just like before, the power of judgment is in your hands, Merlock Raymond. Are you going to repeat the same mistakes this time?"
Mr. Raymond lowered his head, struggling internally, and finally made a decision that forced him to compromise.
"I will remain filled with guilt towards you and your family."
"So, this time, I still want to kill your son."
De La Riss felt something was wrong with his ears. He stopped putting on airs and turned to look at Raymond. "I think I misheard. Say it again, Raymond."
Holy descent!
Light descended from the void upon Raymond, turning his dark gold armor into a dazzling white-gold. Huge wings of light unfurled behind him, and the surrounding holy light formed a vortex above his head, creating an angelic halo. Raymond was enveloped in holy flames, like a seraphim fallen to earth.
A holy spear of Aphrodite materialized in his hand, its tip igniting flames as it rubbed against the void.
The holy light surged outwards like a mountain collapsing and a tsunami crashing.
“I said I would live with the guilt I feel towards the Loshutal family for the rest of my life, but I still want to kill your vampire offspring.”
"And I'll take you along too, Duke Delaris. Now that you've become a vampire, I'm sorry. Our past friendships are on my mind, but I've made this painful decision. Please let me bear the guilt of slaughtering your family."
"For the sake of world peace, please die."
Chapter 112 The Secret Realm of Naslan
Duke Delawares's pale face flushed red and then turned pale again, displaying a wide range of expressions.
He took a deep breath, his breath condensing into frost between his two exposed, sharp canine teeth.
The crimson eyes closed, and when they opened again, a bloodthirsty red light emanated from within. Even Lyle, standing behind Mr. Raymond's wings of light, felt a chill run down his spine from those eyes, as if an invisible hand had gripped his heart.
"You, Raymond, very good." The aggressive voice was incredibly intimidating, and Lyle felt a little less confident about Andrei's top-tier combat strength.
Delawares transformed into a sky full of bat shadows, engulfing Joshua and taking him away, leaving behind only a harsh remark.
"The Loshutar vampires are severing ties with you, Raymond. From now on, it will be a fight to the death!"
De La Riss said the most cowardly thing in the toughest tone, but Mr. Raymond liked to push his luck.
With a flap of its wings, it transformed into a beam of light, closely following Duke Delaris's bat shadow.
"Do not resist, Your Grace! This world needs your sacrifice. For world peace, please die by my gun! Don't run, vampire!"
The arrival of both sides' big bosses ended in a farcical conclusion.
Lyle watched as Ms. Elian prepared to return home.
"Is that all?" Raymond appeared, the enemy turned to ashes, the enemy leader appeared, and Raymond gave chase.
"It's over. If the opponent is strong enough, there might still be a way out. In any case, they won't have the energy to bother us little bugs anymore. Just think about how annoyed Mr. Raymond was with you. That vampire duke is probably in big trouble."
Pray for the Loshutal family for ten seconds.
“I need to go see Karen to take care of some personal matters, and there are some minor things regarding this armor. It may take some time. Mr. Plague Doctor, you can leave first. I have set up a marker outside the tomb that can reach Narania.”
"Okay, thank you."
Elian gave a ladylike bow. "Don't worry, Karen will return safely and intact. I'm not one to bully the weak."
Lyle scratched the back of his head.
"Then I'll trouble you to take care of her."
Ms. Ellian covered her mouth and chuckled softly, like the gentle chirping of birds in spring. "I should be the one saying that, but there's no need to be so formal now. Yes, Doctor of Plague, I will."
Elian walked away quite briskly, leaving Lyle completely bewildered.
Without further hesitation, Lyle decided to turn back.
My journey through Narnia is coming to an end.
Lyle glanced at the enormous disc before him; behind it lay Duke Naslan's true tomb, the resting place of his ancestor Ariana. The Blood Artifact the vampires sought was also behind this gate.
That's not something I should be interested in. Just as Lyle was thinking this, he did indeed see something interesting on the door.
Unable to resist approaching, Lyle saw several murals.
This stone disc was likely carved by Ariana's biological father, as it depicts the stories of the three girls' lives.
They read together, rested together, ate together, and slept together. Her father must have loved them to the extreme to have their likenesses carved in the ancestral tomb, though this was somewhat inappropriate and disrespectful to the deceased.
Lyle quickly spotted Ariana, who was always the most well-behaved. Beatrice was the youngest, but also the most mischievous. Lyle smiled and his attention unconsciously shifted to his older sister, whom he had never met before.
Helena.
In the murals, she is unmistakably placed in the middle of her sisters, appearing to be a very popular older sister. Strangely, she is never shown with her face directly in the murals. Throughout the series of murals, from their infancy to adulthood, Helena never shows her face; she is always facing away from Lyle.
This piqued Lyle's curiosity, and he moved along the edge of the stone slab, trying to find the figure, the face.
Lyle saw the image closest to his expectations: the three sisters sitting by their father's bedside, as if saying their final farewell. Ariana and Beatrice both wore expressions of sorrow that broke the heart of the viewer.
Helena's face was obscured by the falling curtain, as if she were hiding from what was happening before her.
The desire to see her face overcame everything, and Lyle, almost unconsciously, reached out to move the curtain aside.
The golden curtain was indeed moved aside.
Helena didn't shed a tear; her eyes were looking directly at you, straight through the mural, at you who were gazing at her.
