Elian took a small step back and pried a garnet off the edge of the fountain.
The sound of machinery activating came from underground, and a gap appeared in the tightly sealed floor between the two of them, right under Karen's feet.
"Despicable, despicable, despicable, despicable, despicable, despicable!" Karen's voice echoed from the black void.
Elian put the garnet back in its place, and the crack closed up as if it had never happened.
Elian walked up to Lyle, ignoring Lyle's surprise.
"The wealth of this city is fraught with danger; it is best not to touch it carelessly, Physician."
“Ms. Elian, Karen…you…”
Perhaps Sister Elijah was slightly annoyed by Lyle's stuttering, which is why she interrupted him.
“That girl is fine. The situation ahead is too early for her to handle. From now on, I will act as the Plague Doctor’s teammate. The trap is not dangerous; it will just lock her up for a while. I will release her later.”
"Let's go, Mr. Plague Doctor, there are still vampires waiting to be dealt with."
"……OK."
"Put on your disguise, Mr. Plague Doctor. To avoid any accidents, you should get used to hiding your identity."
"Ok."
Chapter 110 Elian Requests Off-Field Assistance
Beyond the dazzling array of the golden city, feeling the weight and grandeur of the enormous disc before me, I recalled the sky carried by Atlas in Greek mythology, but the real-life "Atlas" did not possess the imposing physique of the Titans.
He stood motionless before the disc, his face like a sculpture, clad in a magnificent red and black tuxedo with a cross on his left shoulder, a bright ruby buckle on his cloak, and long, shapely legs beneath velvet stockings. He stood there, a mixture of solemnity and listlessness, like a beautiful creation casually placed on earth by a god.
His long, black, wavy hair flowed like waves, and his beautiful face was adorned with eyes as sharp as polished, blood-stained stones. His expression was calm, yet tinged with a hint of sorrow, and the subtle furrowing of his brows was enough to break a beauty's heart.
He possessed an extraordinary charm, like a poignant tragedy. In Lyle's presence, there was a kind of pressure, the fear of a herbivore exposed to the eyes of a predator, and a kind of magic, a chilling coldness that made the blood flow calm and congeal.
Lady Elian noticed Lyle's unusual condition, and a blessing of holy light enveloped Lyle's body, making him feel much better.
"Thank you, Ms. Elian."
“This is troublesome,” Elian said, remaining where he was, with no intention of moving forward. “He appeared with the magic to manipulate blood. It seems we’ve caught a big fish, a vampire baron.”
As if hearing Elian's voice, the man moved his palm and made a gesture of respect to his chest. "Joshua Loshutal, that is my name, my...guests." Joshua paused slightly at the last word, seemingly struggling with how to address the food.
Lyle had developed a physical fear of the vampire baron, and Joshua was unleashing his full aura, like a swarm of leeches feeding on skin.
Elian took the lead in the conversation.
"Is this the etiquette of the Shadow Chasers, calling themselves masters in someone else's grave?" Shadow Chasers is a respectful title for all creatures that possess shadow magic. You might be wondering why a title is needed. Because power reigns supreme. You have the right to refuse to respect others, and others have the right to tear you apart in the next second.
Joshua made a melancholy expression. “This is not what I wanted,” Poliva emerged from the shadows behind him, his eyes gleaming like a predator. “My sisters, it seems we have had some minor influence on you. I’m sorry, we were just reclaiming what was lost from our family and occupying this beautiful house. Any trouble we caused you was unavoidable.”
Joshua's expression didn't look like he felt guilty at all; he looked more like a pretentious opera singer.
“She killed at least ten people.” Lyle was annoyed by Joshua’s slight taunts, and through gritted teeth, he managed to squeeze out a few words, despite his fear.
Joshua glanced at Polivan, and only looked back at Lyle after the female vampire nodded.
That wasn't to confirm her act of murder, but to confirm Lyle's identity.
"So, you are my rebellious sister, Beatrice's friend."
"Since I will need your assistance next, I will mercifully answer your question."
"Beatleth is an outcast in our community. I hope that you, who are with her, will not mistake vampires for beautiful herbivorous deer. She is very talented, but her refusal to eat blood has become a source of ridicule for many of her sisters."
Joshua touched his forehead and looked sadly at the ceiling with the silver mirror hanging on it. "It's all my fault as the older brother. I haven't shown enough love to my sister. Perhaps the loss of the artifact is a warning to us. But everything will be alright. I will find the artifact and bring back my rebellious sister. Although she is useless, she still has a captivating appearance, doesn't she?"
"Would you feel guilty for stepping on a few ants? Besides, it wasn't my sisters who killed them. We were just mercifully giving them a life as pitiful as insects. What truly prevents them from having happiness are you self-proclaimed righteous people."
"You call that kind of life form, like a wild beast eating raw meat and drinking blood, the sublimation of life?"
A cruel smile crept across Joshua's lips.
“Is there anything wrong with that? That is, it brings us one step closer to being gods. If you can’t understand the true meaning of it, that’s alright. Later, I will transform you into a blood servant. After my poor Beatrice is punished, she may find solace in tormenting you.”
This guy's heart is as full of malice as his race; he is a pure enemy of humanity.
Joshua loosened the straps of his cloak with his sharp-clawed fingers. “I will search your memories and extract what I want from your brain. Although the process will be quite pleasurable, your future life as a blood servant should not require your brain.”
As Joshua walked in step by step, he appeared to Lyle like a surging, turbulent wave.
Holy Light Punishment.
A long spear of light flew toward Joshua, who was unable to dodge it and it pierced his left arm, burning a hole the size of a bowl.
Joshua's smile remained unchanged. "Is that all? Priest, that paladin is hiding in that corner. If you don't step forward now, you'll miss your chance."
Joshua cast his first spell.
The tentacles that appeared in the void engulfed Sister Elian, and no matter what the light inside was like, they never dissipated.
"Dark Flower, a spell I recently learned that targets Holy Light. The cage it forms, low-level Holy Light power will only strengthen its body. Unfortunately, that Light Chaser just happens to be a little weaker than me."
"Then it's your turn, human."
The outstretched palm kept approaching, and the water gathered in front of Lyle, compressing into a ball.
But in the end, that hand did not touch.
Shadows bloom.
Black energy surged like a wave, shattering Joshua's magical cage.
Elian's silver armor turned light gray, and amidst the flying energy fragments, he reached out his hand towards Joshua, who was standing close by.
Fear and lash.
The whip of shadow energy lashed across the open space where Joshua had previously stood.
He spread out in the distance, looking at Elian, whose entire body was shrouded in shadow, those floating shadow fragments like withered petals.
“Stunning beauty, a light-chaser embracing the shadows,” Joshua extended his hand. “Beautiful lady, become my possession, and I will love you without reservation.”
Ariane in her shadow form did not respond.
"This is my last act of mercy, my dear. Even if your power turns to shadow, you cannot defeat me, who is stronger than you. Why not accept my kindness?"
Elian glanced at the confident Joshua.
"Because you're about to die."
Elian glanced at Lyle and deactivated his Shadow Form.
She picked up her Andreas Ring and turned to Lyle.
“Mr. Plague Doctor, let me tell you a little trick about the Ring of Andre,” Ms. Elian showed Lyle her ring, which had a distinct gold line on it, “that with someone’s consent, the Ring of Andre can actually form a connection with other Rings of Andre.”
"Like this."
Elian stroked the golden thread, and the Ring of Andrei burst forth with dazzling light.
"In the name of Andrei."
"If you don't come soon, your Son of Holy Light will have to become a vampire!"
"Your Majesty Raymond!"
Chapter 111 For World Peace, Please Die
As soon as he finished speaking, a cluster of intertwined golden chains appeared in the void in front of Elian. The sound of the chains sliding amplified in the silent tomb, like the roar of a steam train rushing along the tracks.
From the crack, a pair of sturdy, dark gold arm armors emerged, gripping the edge of the chains and slowly widening the gap. The force was no less than that of a mountain being shaken, as the entire golden city trembled due to the tearing of space.
Lyle watched nervously, fearing that Mr. Raymond might have destroyed Naslan's ancestral grave.
The crack revealed a hole about the size of a bowl.
Joshua and Poliva had transformed into their full vampire forms, with ugly bat wings extending from their backs to protect their bodies. Their blood-red pupils stared intently at the gap in the chains.
light.
Light and heat carrying a violent impact.
The light shattered the glass on the surface of the luminous stone.
The heat that caused the countless silver mirrors in the sky to crack.
The terrifying temperature created a howling, swirling hot wind in this cold tomb.
The crack in the chain seemed to connect to an active volcano, one that was constantly boiling.
The crack widened step by step, and the light intensified, becoming so intense that Lyle couldn't open his eyes.
That light seemed capable of igniting a person.
In fact, the vampires have already set on fire.
Divine flames burned on their fur, and Lyle also heard Poliva's pitiful cries.
The crack widened further.
This place is like a scorching hell, or the end of the world.
The rift eventually reached the size of a person.
The dark gold foot armor trod on the battered metal floor, where the gold had softened into a muddy substance.
A huge light source squeezed into the narrow darkness.
Raymond let out a roar.
"No matter who you are! You dare to harm the future of the Holy Light, you are dead! I will grind you to dust and throw you into the holy flames to burn!"
As if to prove his words, a shockwave of holy light erupted from Raymond, the powerful force knocking Lyle over. Then, a torrent of holy light surged forth, and Lyle felt as if he were experiencing an avalanche.
"Mr. Raymond! Stop!" Boss Raymond has stopped his supernatural powers; the enemy is almost gone!
Perhaps it's hearing a voice that you care about deeply.
Raymond's aura diminished, and he reverted to the enhanced and enlarged version of the Lightbat from Andre Academy.
