Snapped!
Without saying a word, Nick Fury simply threw a stack of documents in front of Black Widow.
Black Widow took it, flipped through it, and asked with some curiosity, "Sir, why are you suddenly so interested in a dead soldier?"
The stack of documents Nick Fury handed to Black Widow was none other than information about Captain America's last mission, in which he crashed into the sea.
The information was very detailed, including not only details of Captain America's mission at the time, but also briefings on the military's search and rescue operations afterwards.
It includes detailed coordinates of some marked locations and specific search and rescue details, all clearly presented.
It's worth mentioning that because these documents were from a relatively early period, they were all paper documents and not stored in electronic archives, so Iron Man did not obtain this crucial information.
"I have received very important information: Captain America, whom we all believe to be dead, may not actually be dead at all."
"Not only that, he may also remain frozen in the cold sea after the plane crash."
"So I need you to confirm this."
Nick Fury said to Black Widow in a very serious tone.
Coulson has already told Nick Fury about the "magic theory" and the "freezing and preservation theory" that Captain America may not be dead.
From Nick Fury's perspective, both theories actually have a certain degree of validity.
The only difference is that one theory is magic-oriented and the other is technology-oriented, involving different fields of knowledge, that's all.
However, Coulson's magical theory was impossible to verify, while Tony Stark's theory of freezing and preservation was feasible to verify.
So after some thought, Nick Fury decided to send people to the Arctic Ocean to search carefully.
“Sir, this sounds too crazy.” Black Widow’s first reaction was also that it was too absurd. “No one can survive for seventy years in that kind of environment without dying.”
“It’s a bit crazy,” Nick Fury didn’t deny it, “but it’s nothing compared to other crazier things I’ve seen.”
"Understood, sir!" Black Widow didn't say anything more.
“I will assign you a tactical squad to command. I want you to search every single marker that Stark and his men searched for back then.”
"Report any discoveries to me immediately."
Nick Fury gave Black Widow a serious speech.
Of course, the Stark here is not the playboy, billionaire, and super genius Tony Stark of today, but Tony Stark's father, Howard Stark.
After Captain America fell into the river, Howard participated in the search and rescue, but he did not find Captain America's body. However, he did find the Tesseract that had fallen into the river.
That Tesseract is still secretly kept in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s base.
"Roger that!"
After responding, Black Widow turned around and strode out.
After Black Widow left, Nick Fury took care of some other matters. In the afternoon, Coulson returned to Nick Fury with the completed portrait.
"Sir, this is Thanos, the cosmic overlord."
Coulson took out a portrait and placed it in front of Nick Fury to introduce it, "However, his skin is purple."
Nick Fury glanced at it, neither agreeing nor disagreeing, but silently memorizing the image.
After all, it was an alien. Even if he knew the other party's portrait, he didn't think he could find out anything.
"And this person, he is a magician."
Coulson then produced a portrait of a man with a long face and a cape. "This is the man who opened the portal and pointed a finger at Iron Man, as if he was reminding Iron Man of something."
"How close can this portrait be to the real thing?" Nick Fury was clearly more interested this time.
“Seven out of ten… or eight out of ten,” Coulson said uncertainly. “This guy’s ‘appearance’ was too brief; I can’t remember much more.”
Nick Fury nodded. "That's enough. I'll have someone check it out."
A similarity of 70-80% is actually quite high. The only problem is that, according to Coulson, those images that seem to be from the future might be more than a decade or more in the future.
A person's appearance can change to varying degrees between ten years ago and ten years later.
Nevertheless, the portrait provided by Coulson was still a very important piece of intelligence.
"Thanos and this sorcerer left a deeper impression on me because they appeared first."
“The memories of the others are even more hazy, and the accuracy of their recollections is even lower,” Coulson said to Nick Fury.
Nick Fury nodded; this situation was not unexpected. He picked up the other portraits and began to examine them.
Nick Fury glanced at some of the portraits, his gaze lingering briefly on a few images of major battles.
The alien spaceships, Pegasus, snail-like tentacled beings, and other figures shown on it are still quite valuable for reference.
"Wait... this flying wing device..."
Finally, Nick Fury's gaze fell on a portrait of a person flying in the sky with wings "growing" on their back and wearing goggles.
He didn't pay much attention to the person's appearance, but the wings on the person's back did catch Nick Fury's attention.
After a moment of contemplation, Nick Fury dialed another internal line: "Archives, send me the files for Project EXO-7 Falcon, access code 00421."
A short while later, a document was delivered to Nick Fury.
“Sam Wilson, I think I’ve found our ‘Birdman Boy’,” Nick Fury said to Coulson, holding up a file.
"Sam Wilson served in the 58th Airborne Rescue Division, carrying out the EXO-7 Falcon classified mission. He was killed in action and, after retiring from the military, worked at the Veterans Affairs Department..."
"In addition, this set of 'birdman equipment' is currently being stored at a military base in Fort Meade..."
After reviewing the information, Nick Fury casually remarked to Coulson, "Looks like we've added another person to our watchlist."
Chapter 017 Iron Man: I'm in!
"Sir, according to your schedule for today, you are to visit Tony Stark at Stark Tower this afternoon."
"If you don't plan to change your plans at the last minute, then it's about time to set off now."
"Traffic congestion will start soon, and it will be difficult to get around then."
……
After roughly arranging the tasks at hand, a person who looked like a secretary knocked on the door and entered, reminding Nick Fury.
Nick Fury stood up: "Coulson, do as I say."
“Understood, sir!” Coulson nodded, pushed open the door, and walked out of Nick Fury’s office.
Nick Fury went to the parking lot, drove to Stark Tower, and rang the doorbell.
"Sir! Someone has arrived."
The artificial intelligence Jarvis immediately alerted Iron Man.
"I will not see anyone."
Iron Man, while intently studying the various documents floating in front of him, spoke to Jarvis without turning his head.
"Werewolves, vampires, aliens, and mutants... I never knew there were so many extraordinary beings in this world."
Iron Man occasionally uttered such exclamations.
The supernatural information Jarvis collected opened a new door for Tony Stark, allowing him to truly understand the truth of this world.
To be honest, after developing the Iron Man armor and announcing himself as Iron Man, this guy really got a little cocky.
He felt that once he put on the Iron Man armor, he was like a god, standing at the pinnacle of the world, and no one could do anything to him.
But now, Iron Man realizes how foolish he had been.
They were like frogs in a well, completely oblivious to the vastness of the sky and the earth.
"Tony, what are you doing?"
Iron Man, who was focused on these documents, was suddenly interrupted by Pepper Potts.
But it turned out that Little Chili hadn't just come alone; she was followed by a person with a bald head.
That guy with the bald head was also blind in one eye, which was covered by an eye patch, so he didn't look like a good person.
Iron Man suddenly waved his hand, and the data that had been floating around him quickly disappeared. Only then did Iron Man stand up.
"It's really unexpected that our Iron Man likes mythology."
Nick Fury spoke with a meaningful tone, saying that although Iron Man quickly closed the information, Nick Fury still caught a glimpse of something.
Among them were some mythical figures that are household names in America, which Nick Fury recognized at a glance.
Nick Fury knew that Iron Man, like him, must also be frantically investigating that quiz system.
"Excuse me, who are you?"
Iron Man, with a hint of displeasure, looked at Nick Fury and questioned him.
“Tony, he’s the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Coulson’s boss…” Pepper Potts introduced Iron Man from the side.
This is why Pepper Potts brought Nick Fury to see Iron Man without consulting him first.
The reason is simple: the visitor is a big shot.
"You're Nick Fury!" Iron Man exclaimed in surprise. He looked Nick Fury up and down, then sneered, "You don't look like anyone important."
"Compared to Iron Man, I'm certainly no big shot." Nick Fury walked towards Iron Man with a hint of sarcasm on his face.
"'I am Iron Man,' you really think you're a superhero? Mr. Stark, there are many people like you in this world!"
In the past, Iron Man would have scoffed and looked utterly disdainful, but now, unusually, he didn't refute it.
Because Iron Man has only just learned the truth about this world, he was indeed overestimating himself before.
"Nick Fury, why are you here?" Iron Man asked Nick Fury seriously.
Nick Fury didn't say anything, but just glanced at Pepper with his one eye.
Chili Pepper immediately understood. She shrugged and said, "Tony, I just remembered that I forgot to sign a document."
With that, Pepper Potts went straight out, leaving space for Iron Man and Nick Fury.
“Tony Stark, I’m here to talk to you about joining the Avengers.” Nick Fury sat down on the sofa without any hesitation, as if he were in his own home.
