Section 18, Chapter 17: The Moment of Death

At dawn, on a highway on the outskirts of the city, Li Cheng and Kun Tai, two battered men, stood facing each other on the cracked and dilapidated road.

Li Cheng had suffered considerable injuries in the continuous battles, his body covered in bloody wounds, his arm veins burst, and his feet severely abraded. Just maintaining his stance was already a struggle for him.

However, Quintai wasn't in much better shape. Firstly, Li Cheng had inflicted considerable damage on him in the previous battle, and secondly, during the rooftop ambush, he had been struck in the left shoulder by a powerful bullet from Emiya Kiritsugu, resulting in the loss of his arm. He was also at his last gasp.

This was the final battle; the cultists had no more forces to spare. Although Li Cheng was weak, this place was on a main road, and the other action teams would arrive soon. Kun Tai, on his own, had no chance of escaping.

That's why he was so excited and happy.

"Come, Mr. Li Cheng, let's put a final stop to this battle!"

Laughing unrestrainedly, Kuntai crouched on the ground like a cheetah, seemingly gathering the power to explode.

"Before that, I have another question for you."

However, unlike his initial rage, Li Cheng, having finally found the girl, had regained his calm and rational demeanor. He looked at the restless man before him and asked in an icy tone:

"How did you know that I used to be in the Azure Dragon Commando... No, why would you know about the Azure Dragon Commando?"

“You may not remember, but for me, it is a vivid memory,” Quinta said with a smile. “I witnessed your actions and was even saved by you once. At that time, I was just a teenager.”

“I have admired someone as strong as you since then, and I have worked twice as hard since then. Now, ten years later, I can finally compete with you.”

Ten years ago?

Li Cheng tried to recall, but couldn't. He had killed and saved too many people at that time, so it was impossible for him to specifically remember any one of them.

It doesn't matter anymore. What happened before is irrelevant now; this battle-hungry madman won't let him go. Similarly, Li Cheng will never let his opponent go either.

The atmosphere froze at that moment.

A gentle breeze, the distant wail of sirens, black smoke billowing from vehicles, and an orange-red glow sweeping across the sky. The two who stood there remained silent, yet an increasingly heavy sense of oppression emanated from them.

Bang!

With a loud thud, the ground collapsed. Kuntai, his face beaming with excitement, couldn't contain himself and struck first. He moved with lightning speed, instantly closing the distance between the two and delivering a whip kick aimed at Li Cheng's face.

The next moment, a series of explosions echoed across the wide road. Kuntai's legs swept out a series of afterimages, each kick carrying terrifying force, launching an incredibly swift attack. Li Cheng used his elbows to block the continuous attacks, but he could hardly withstand the opponent's fierce power and could only fight and retreat, constantly moving.

Just over ten hours ago, Li Cheng launched an attack just as fiercely as Kuntai, and Kuntai, just like Li Cheng now, defended himself, fighting and retreating at the same time.

It seems like the tables have turned, but the reality is quite different. Firstly, Li Cheng's physical condition is much worse than Kuntai's, making it very difficult for him to defend and find an opening to counterattack. Secondly, Kuntai is not like the irrational Li Cheng he was back then, attacking haphazardly. Every time Li Cheng tries to retaliate, he is quickly countered and then attacked with even greater force.

"Is that all, Mr. Li Cheng?" Kuntai shouted frantically. "Not enough, not nearly enough! This level of power is simply not enough! Give me more, much more!!"

As he soared into the air, a fierce triple kick struck Li Cheng's arm, creating a piercing sonic boom. Unable to withstand it, Li Cheng was sent flying backward, crashing into the ground and creating a large crater.

"Come on, keep going, don't let me down!"

Completely different from his previous calm demeanor, this man named Quintae now displayed his belligerent nature to the fullest.

He leaped high into the air, stomping directly at Li Cheng, who lay sprawled in the rubble pit. Li Cheng struggled to his feet, dodging the attack, but the foot sank deep into the concrete beneath, emerging covered in dirt. The attacker roared and turned to assault Li Cheng, forcing the already injured Li Cheng to kneel in defense, the bruises on his arms growing even more pronounced.

No, his leg strength is too strong; I can't defend against him with these injured hands. A brief exchange was enough for Li Cheng to understand the current situation. Dodging the kick from his opponent, Li Cheng rolled to the side of the road, where a car was parked. The owner had already run away when the fight had just begun.

I'm sorry, I'll make it up to you.

A fleeting sense of guilt crossed Li Cheng's mind. He grabbed the hood of the car, let out a loud snort, and swung it around, then turned and smashed it against Kun Tai, who was chasing after him. Kun Tai, preoccupied with attacking Li Cheng, hadn't expected him to resort to using a roadside car as a weapon. He was hit directly, rolled away along with the car, and landed on the ground.

Li Cheng was slightly out of breath, flexing his wrist as he watched his opponent struggle to push aside the overturned car and slowly get up. It had been a perfect opportunity to pursue, but with his injured foot, Li Cheng wasn't confident and could only let his opponent stand up again.

"Ha ha--"

Kuntai gasped for breath, letting blood stream down his forehead, staining half his face red. His injured left arm hung motionless on his body, while his right hand was clenched tightly, the bones cracking. Then, he raised his head, let out a strange howl, and charged forward like a mad dog.

Is he going to perform a flying kick?

Li Cheng instinctively raised his wrist to defend himself, but his opponent changed his stance mid-strike and rammed into him, causing Li Cheng to stumble. The opponent then grabbed Li Cheng's arm for support, leaped into the air, and delivered a swift knee strike to Li Cheng's face. With a crack, Li Cheng's nose was shattered.

Blood gushed directly from Li Cheng's crooked and cracked nose. Kuntai grinned wickedly and twisted his legs around Li Cheng's neck. His leg strength was extremely strong, and no matter how hard Li Cheng tried, he couldn't break free. Kuntai clenched his right fist and punched Li Cheng's head repeatedly, trying to force him to the ground.

Then his back slammed directly into the lamppost of a street lamp on the side of the road. He spun around and pushed hard, breaking the entire lamppost in two.

Li Cheng roared, smashing Kuntai around like a hammer. Since he couldn't shake him off, he would use the opponent's position to hurt him. Enduring the punches aimed at his face, Li Cheng grabbed Kuntai's body and smashed through the steel railing, the roadside utility pole, and several parked cars. He slammed Kuntai, who was locked by the neck, with all his might, even when the other man was spitting blood, he wouldn't stop. He kept pounding until Kuntai was exhausted and was thrown away. Finally, Li Cheng himself collapsed to the ground, clutching his injured face.

"Cough, cough, cough cough—"

Li Cheng lay on the ground coughing loudly. He had been nearly suffocated by the other person's leg. He had only managed to hold on thanks to sheer willpower and his superhuman physical abilities. Now, suddenly dropped to the ground, he immediately felt dizzy.

Kuntai, who was lying on the ground not far away, started to move slowly while laughing.

“Not bad…not bad at all, this is more like it, this is the Mr. Li Cheng I remember.” With a chuckle, Kuntai swayed as he stood up again, his eyes burning with fervor as he looked at Li Cheng. “But, can you still continue fighting now? It seems you don’t have the strength to continue.”

"Pooh--"

Li Cheng spat out a mouthful of blood onto the ground, his body trembling as he struggled to his feet. Although it was extremely difficult to even straighten his back, and his arms trembled uncontrollably when he clenched them, Li Cheng steadied himself, looked up, and stared coldly at Kun Tai, who was smiling broadly in front of him.

"Ah, yes, it's that look, that movement—it's truly captivating. It's precisely this kind of way that allows me to truly feel the joy of being alive!!"

With a twisted, gleeful laugh, Kuntai charged at Li Chengmeng once again.

Section 19, Chapter 18: The End of the Death Struggle

Punch, kick, elbow strike, side kick, sweeping kick—

Hit, defend, hit, defend, hit—

Bleeding, bleeding, bleeding, bleeding, bleeding—

Two battered men lay on the rubble-covered road, their chests heaving violently, blood mingling with sweat dripping down their faces. They could barely stand, trembling like candles in the wind, like frail old men who would collapse at the slightest push. Yet, their eyes, locked in a silent, vengeful gaze, burned with an unimaginable, intense killing intent, like those of ferocious beasts.

They had been fighting continuously for over ten minutes, destroying the entire surrounding highway—and this was despite deliberately controlling the battle area. Patrolling police officers had already cordoned off the area at both ends of the road, but after witnessing the two casually smashing cars and crushing concrete, they tacitly chose to watch, calling for more specialized and capable action teams while carefully blocking the road to prevent the reckless crowd from sneaking in.

huh-huh-

Struggling to catch his breath, Li Cheng wiped the blood from his eyes and looked up at Kuntai, who was also breathing heavily. Kuntai's condition was just as bad as Li Cheng's. Of course, even though they were both seriously injured, martial artists like them were still extremely terrifying and deadly to ordinary people, which was why none of the ordinary police officers watching dared to approach.

However, this stalemate won't last long. Once the other action team members arrive, they will inevitably help Li Cheng, who is also a member of an action team. That will be the moment when Kuntai is completely defeated. After all, no matter how skilled he is, he can't fight too many enemies at the same time. The members of the action team are not ordinary people.

However, this guy probably doesn't care about his own fate. Being able to fight Li Cheng to the end, regardless of victory or defeat, is a very pleasant thing for him.

Clenching his teeth, Li Cheng once again assumed a defensive stance.

For Kuntai, as long as he could have a good, satisfying fight with Li Cheng, he could accept whatever the outcome. But Li Cheng couldn't think that way. The fundamental reason he was fighting Kuntai was because of Kuntai's actions in kidnapping the girl. This anger was the driving force behind his fight to this point.

If he couldn't defeat Kuntai, if he couldn't personally crush him, there was absolutely no way to quell Li Cheng's anger. That's why he persisted in fighting until now. Moreover, unlike Kuntai, who at least had some rest, Li Cheng hadn't slept for nearly 24 hours since yesterday morning. He had also gone through two consecutive raids and a car chase, so his mental exhaustion was far greater than his opponent's. At this moment, he was already in a daze. If it weren't for the intense physical pain stimulating his nerves, he might have already collapsed.

Kuntai grinned, saliva mixed with reddish-black blood dripping from the corner of his mouth like silk threads. It was from a heavy punch from Li Cheng three minutes ago. Three of his back molars on the left side of his cheek were broken, some of the fragments piercing through the flesh of his lips, making it impossible for him to close his mouth.

Stumbling and staggering, Kuntai charged at Li Cheng again, and Li Cheng charged forward once more. Their fists and feet collided violently, producing a loud bang. Then, Li Cheng grabbed Kuntai, using his height advantage to lift him up and slam him headfirst to the ground. But before falling, Kuntai seized an opening and kicked Li Cheng in the chest, knocking him to the ground as well.

Before Kuntai could stand up again, Li Cheng struggled to his feet, leaped up, and landed directly on top of Kuntai, then slapped him across the face.

Boom!

Kuntai dodged Li Cheng's punch by tilting his head, and the blow slammed into the ground. Immediately afterward, Li Cheng was struck on the side of the face by an elbow strike, and he rolled to the side. Kuntai tried to get up, but Li Cheng suddenly pounced on him, forcefully locking Kuntai's neck from behind and twisting him to the ground.

Ground combat was his weakness, a fact that Li Cheng discovered after several battles – Kuntai's weakness.

In mid-range combat, the opponent's leg techniques are incredibly swift and powerful, making it difficult to defend or counterattack. However, in close-quarters combat, especially extremely close-quarters fighting where the characters are completely entangled, it's impossible to utilize the skill and power of leg techniques effectively. Therefore, to defeat this formidable enemy, one must close in, like a thug, pull him to the ground, and engage in a brutal fight.

Li Cheng gripped the man's neck, tightening his arms with all his might, trying to strangle him to death. But Kun Tai suddenly kicked out, striking Li Cheng in the face and slamming his head into the ground. The strength in Li Cheng's arms loosened, and the man broke free. But Li Cheng didn't give him a chance to escape. Although his hands loosened, his legs clamped tightly around Kun Tai's waist, pulling him back.

Then, Li Cheng punched Kuntai in the already swollen face, knocking two teeth into the air.

Immediately afterwards, he changed his fist into a palm and thrust his hand into Kuntai's left shoulder, into the bullet hole that had been shot by Kiritsugu Emiya. His five fingers dug tightly into the torn flesh of the wound, preventing Kuntai from escaping.

You'd better die right here, you bastard!

With one hand gripping the opponent's wound, and the other hand relentlessly striking the opponent's body, Li Cheng locked the opponent's legs and pinned them to the ground, relentlessly attacking with punch after punch. Each strike shattered and collapsed the soil beneath them with a violent explosion.

Kuntai desperately tried to stop Li Cheng, using his still-functioning hand to resist Li Cheng's attacks, but it was all in vain. Nearly crazed, Li Cheng bit Kuntai's flailing right hand and ripped it off his arm with a violent tear. The cruel sound of flesh and bone being ripped apart was accompanied by a burst of blood, splattering Li Cheng's face with blood and making him look like a demon crawling out of hell.

Go to hell! ...

The fear and anger of the girl being taken away, the fear and anger of being so casually silenced, the fear and anger of not being able to find the girl, the fear and anger of being pursued—all these emotions, all this rage, surged through Li Cheng's body at that moment. He swiftly and decisively grabbed Kuntai's elbow and snapped it. His blood-soaked face seemed to consist only of his dark brown pupils, staring at the dying Kuntai beneath him.

At that moment, Kuntai felt as if he had died, as if he had simply fallen into hell, with the demon looking down at him from above with a pair of dark brown eyes.

Then he heard the demon say to him:

"Go to hell!"

With continuous bleeding from the severed artery in his hand, Kuntai, pale-faced and on the verge of shock, still laughed loudly, as if he had gained endless satisfaction and the greatest happiness in the world, laughing unrestrainedly like a child.

He spoke recklessly to the demon before him:

"Come on, let me see what hell looks like."

Li Cheng's fist, carrying a heavy, bloody wind, loomed large before his eyes.
