“Yes…” Rena didn’t dare to look at Itsuki, knowing that Itsuki was really angry.

"Hoo..." Yi Yue took a deep breath and continued, "What about the hamster? Did you take the hamster to school today?"

Rena pursed her lips, not daring to answer, looking as aggrieved as a kitten being scolded by its owner.

"Speak up, why aren't you saying anything!" Izuki said angrily, and Reina's feigned deafness made her even angrier.

"I..." Rena stammered, considering whether to lie to Izuki. Her father looked very angry. If she said that she had brought her hamster to school, would her father stop letting her keep the hamster?

Izuki saw right through Rena's thoughts: "Don't lie to me!"

"Yes." Rena hesitated for a moment, but still told the truth.

"Do you know how irresponsible you are?!" Yi Yue took a deep breath to calm herself down. "You're a student, and your job at school is to study. It's the end of the semester, and final exams are just around the corner. I see you watching TV and playing on your phone at home all day, and I haven't seen you study at all. How can you do this to yourself?"

Rena didn't dare to speak, so she listened quietly to Itsuki's rambling. When Itsuki had finished speaking, Rena quietly said, "Dad, I'm sorry. I will try my best in the future."

"Don't just talk about working hard, you need to take real action. You always say that, but what's the result? You play and eat as usual, what about studying? Don't think that just because you're in the first year of junior high, you'll be in the second year next semester! Time is tight, in another year you'll be in the third year of junior high, do you think I can supervise you every day?"

Yi Yue grew angrier as she spoke, "Can't you learn from Yi Xue!"

Rena, with her head down, suddenly opened her eyes wide and stared at Izumi when she heard Yixue's words. As if a string in her brain had snapped, she actually said, "Learn from her what! What do I have to learn from her! She always has that smiling face, it's disgusting!" As soon as the words left her mouth, Rena knew she had said the wrong thing, but she was too embarrassed to apologize.

"Is this what you really think? You hate your sister?" Yi Yue asked.

Reina pursed her lips, throwing a childish tantrum: "Yes! I don't like her." She whispered, "I feel like she stole Daddy away from me." She said to Yiyue, "Daddy, you must really like Yixue, right? You don't like me. I'm naughty and immature, while she's good at studying and obedient. I...I...I must be so useless. Daddy doesn't like me, I'm a bad student." As she spoke, she actually burst into tears.

Yi Yue's heart softened immediately. "Don't cry."

It would have been better if Izuki hadn't said anything, because once Rena started crying loudly, the grievances in her heart were like a raging storm.

“Dad doesn’t like me…” Rena cried.

"How could that be? Don't overthink it," Izuki quickly reassured her, somewhat at a loss for words in the face of Reina's sudden outburst.

"Rena, don't cry. I like Rena so much, how could I hate her?" Itsuki awkwardly comforted Rena.

Rena's sobs gradually subsided: "Really?"

“Yes, of course it’s true!” Yi Yue said.

Rena hugged Itsuki: "Then Daddy, tell me you love Rena the most."

“Alright, alright, Reina is the one I love the most,” Izuki said.

Rena tiptoed slightly and bit Izuki's shoulder unhappily. She didn't bite hard, her little fangs gently rubbing against Izuki's shoulder, leaving drool: "That's more like it." Her tongue instinctively licked it, then she blushed and pulled away.

Izuki felt an itch on her shoulder and saw that Rena's face was red. She didn't think much of it and assumed it was because Rena had just been crying.

At the doorway, Yixue stood quietly outside.

When Yiyue came in, she forgot to close the door. Yixue came out of the room and overheard Yiyue saying that Lingna was in pain. She then saw Lingna biting Yiyue's shoulder.

Rena also saw Yixue at the door, but she didn't say anything. Instead, she gave her eyes a provocative look.

Yi Xue tilted her head, a faint smile on her face, like a white lotus rising from the mud, untouched by its surroundings. If you truly understood her, you'd know that this smile meant she was very angry.

With that smile, Yixue quietly went downstairs.

"Hmm?" Yi Yue felt something was wrong behind her, turned around, but found no one there.

Yi Xue had already left, and Yi Yue thought it was just her imagination.

Reina asked, "Dad, do you like Yixue more, or do you like me more?"

“I like it just the same,” Yi Yue said.

Rena pouted and said, "No, you have to choose one!" She held up her little finger and said, "Even a little bit counts." She softened and grabbed Izuki's right hand with both hands, gently shaking it and acting coquettishly, "Tell me, tell me, who do you like more?" Looking at Izuki's blank expression, Rena thought to herself, "Daddy is so silly. Just to comfort me, can't you say you like me more?"

"How am I supposed to answer that?" Yi Yue had a headache and asked back, "If I and your mother fell into the sea together, who would you save first?"

"Dad!" Rena answered without hesitation.

Yi Yue exclaimed in surprise, "You heartless wretch, don't you care about your mother?"

Rena giggled and said, "Mom can swim, so I don't need to save her."

Chapter 100 A New Look

Yi Yue really wanted to tap her little head: "What if Mommy twists her leg and can't swim either? Who would you save?"

Rena fell silent.

Yi Yue said, "See, you don't even know who to save anymore, do you?"

Rena silently thought to herself, "Of course, I'll save Dad." She just didn't dare say it aloud.

"Honestly, it turns out I was the one lecturing you, but now it seems like you're the one lecturing me." Izuki snapped out of her daze and realized something was wrong. She had originally planned to give Reina a good talking-to, telling her not to talk or fidget in class and to study properly, but Reina had instead steered the conversation away from her.

Reina shook off Izuki's hand and said playfully, "Dad, don't say anymore. I actually know everything. I will pay attention in class from now on."

"That would be great. Dad isn't saying you can't play, but you should listen attentively in class and play to your heart's content after class," Yi Yue said.

Rena nodded, hesitated for a moment, then took her phone out of her pocket and handed it to Itsuki.

"You're handing over your phone so early?" Izuki asked in surprise. Usually, I had to remind him, and he wouldn't hand it over until very late. If I forgot, Reina wouldn't hand it over voluntarily either.

Rena bit her lip, as if she had made up her mind: "I will study hard these next few days! Give my phone to Dad, and give it back to me after the exam!"

Izuki gave Reina a strange look and asked, "Have you made up your mind?"

"It's decided!" Rena said decisively, her expression very serious.

Yi Yue said with relief, "That's great. Keep it up!"

"Okay, let's do our best!" Rena clenched her fist and cheered herself on, thinking, "Hmph, I must work hard and get good grades. I'll make Dad look at me with new eyes!"

While feeling gratified, Izuki thought to herself that Reina's enthusiasm was short-lived, and she would probably revert to her old ways in just a few days.

Yi Yue shook her head, unsure how many more days she could hold on.

"Work hard, be passionate, and strive. Go Rena!" Rena clenched her fist, her spirits high.

"I'm going out now. You study hard," Yi Yue said.

Rena sat in the chair, took out the exam outline, and was in high spirits, without responding to Izuki.

"Good luck," Yi Yue thought to herself, gently closing the door and returning to her room to lie on her bed and watch TV.

"Bang bang..." There was a knocking sound at the door.

"Come in," Yi Yue said.

Yixue entered the room with a smile on her face.

"Is something the matter?" Yi Yue asked curiously.

Yixue shook her head, gently closed the door, and sat down next to Yiyue: "Dad, it's been a long time since we had a heart-to-heart talk."

"Hmm." Yi Yue hummed in agreement, turned off the TV, and listened attentively to Yi Xue's words.

This small gesture caught Yixue's eye, and she smiled, saying, "Dad is so gentle." She then began to talk about her childhood, "Dad, do you remember the time I was sick when I was little?"

"Was it the time you had a high fever?" Yi Yue asked.

Yixue nodded: "It was that time."

Yi Yue said, "You remember this too? You were very young back then."

“I remember everything my father did for me,” Yixue said with a smile, and began to recount the incident: “I was sick then, and I thought I was going to die. It was late at night, and it was the end of the year. There were no cars on the road, so my father carried me directly to the city hospital.” As she spoke, she lowered her head, her face slightly red, and whispered softly, “My father’s embrace was so warm.” She continued, “My father carried me all the way, and when we got to the hospital, he was almost collapsing on the ground. He barely managed to get me into the emergency room.”

Yixue said, "Dad must have been very tired back then."

"I'm not tired, how could I be tired?" Yi Yue said.

Yixue recalled that time and smiled from the bottom of her heart: "When I was taken into the clinic, my dad kept talking and talking, he was so anxious that he was about to cry. He looked so stupid, as if I was going to die at any moment."

Yi Yue exclaimed urgently, "Don't talk nonsense!"

“My dad cares about me a lot,” Yixue said with a smile.

"Of course I care. What father wouldn't care about his daughter?" Yi Yue said, her expression slightly off as she recalled the incident. "Yi Xue, do you remember what I said back then?"

"I don't know, I was all confused at the time," Yixue said.

Yi Yue let out an "oh," as if relieved. Looking at the smiling Yi Xue, Yi Yue lowered her head, feeling guilty and unable to look at her.

"Dad, you love both Rena and me as your daughters. Who do you love the most?" Yixue tilted her head and asked with a smile.

“It hurts just the same.” Yi Yue paused for a moment before replying.

"You can only choose one," Yixue said.

"How come you're just like Rena?" Itsuki said, exasperated.

Yixue narrowed her eyes slightly, maintaining her smile: "Did Reina ask the same question too?"

“Yes,” Yi Yue said.

"So what did you say, Dad?" Yixue asked.

Yi Yue said, "I also said I like it just the same way."

"Really..." Yixue said, bowing her head.

Of course.

Yixue asked, "Then Reina must have been very unhappy with your answer. Did she make a scene and then her father comforted her, saying that he loved her the most?"

"I guess so," Yi Yue thought for a moment and said, "Although when she was crying and making a fuss before, I didn't ask her who loved Yi Xue the most or her the most, I just let her say that she loved her the most. But if I had asked her directly, I would probably have comforted her by saying that she loved her the most."

"I knew it," Yixue said expressionlessly, then looked up and smiled again. "Dad must be having a headache."

“Yes,” Yi Yue remarked.

Yixue climbed onto the bed and went behind Yiyue: "Daddy, let me give you a massage."

"Mmm." Yi Yue moved aside so that Yi Xue could massage him.

Yi Xue's movements were gentle, and the massage felt very comfortable to Yi Yue, making her feel all the fatigue of the day disappear. After massaging for a while, Yi Xue's hands slowly wrapped around Yi Yue, and she hugged Yi Yue tightly, just like a sick girl in her childhood, and gently whispered in Yi Yue's ear, "Daddy, you've worked hard."
