"Is there anything I can help you with, Teacher Huang?" Yi Yue asked.
"That's how it is," said Teacher Huang. Next to her, a student was grilling meat. One student said to the teacher, "Teacher, the meat is ready. I'll put it in your bowl."
"Hmm." Teacher Huang smiled and said to Yi Yue on the other end of the phone, "I suddenly remembered that I forgot to give the graduation photos to Yi Xue. I was originally planning to send them out at the reunion dinner. But then I realized that Yi Xue isn't here, so I'll have to trouble her to come over. I don't know when Yi Xue will be free, or I can mail them to her."
"No need, I'll come get it later. Where are you now, teacher?" Yi Yue glanced at Yi Xue. "By the way, is there a graduation dinner?"
"I'm at Allang Barbecue across from Chenghui Pedestrian Street right now. There's a graduation dinner. Didn't Yixue tell you?" Teacher Huang asked, puzzled.
“Oh, Yixue told me,” Yiyue said immediately, trying to cover for Yixue.
Teacher Huang said, "We'll probably be leaving in about half an hour. Can you get there right away?"
Yi Yue said, "We can't get there."
"How about this? I remember you have a daughter in the first year of junior high school. I happen to have to go to the school, so I'll just give the graduation photo to another teacher and ask them to give it to your younger daughter."
"That's wonderful, thank you so much, teacher," Yi Yue said.
"No, not at all," said Teacher Huang. The students beside her urged her on, and Teacher Huang immediately replied, "That's all for now, goodbye."
"Okay, goodbye." After saying that, Yi Yue's smile slowly disappeared, and she called out, "Yi Xue."
"Hmm, Dad, what's wrong?" Yixue sensed something was off, but she still kept smiling.
"Your homeroom teacher just called and said you didn't pick up your graduation photo," Yi Yue said, head down. "Wasn't there a graduation dinner? Why didn't you go?"
Yixue's smile gradually faded as she thought to herself, "Has Dad found out?"
Chapter 85 Deception
"I don't want to go, I want to have dinner with my dad," Yixue said truthfully.
She understood Yi Yue's personality. Since she had been found out, she might as well tell the truth. If she told Yi Yue the truth, he wouldn't blame her.
"Then why didn't you just tell me? Would I have scolded you or forced you to go?" Yi Yue was about to get angry, but when she heard Yi Xue say "I want to have dinner with Dad," her anger immediately subsided, and she sighed.
Yixue lowered her head and said, "I want to eat with Dad. But I'm afraid he'll say, 'This is the last dinner after graduation,' and insist that I go. I don't want to go, but I'm afraid he'll be disappointed."
"Just tell me directly, I won't force you," Yi Yue said, somewhat disappointed. "You're making me really sad."
On one hand, he was angry that Yixue had lied to him, and on the other hand, he felt disappointed. Was he being unreasonable in Yixue's eyes? Although he knew she didn't mean it that way, he couldn't help but think that way.
"I'm sorry, Dad," Yixue apologized.
Izuki did not speak.
Reina looked at Yixue, then at Yiyue, and asked in confusion, "What happened? Why did things suddenly turn out like this?" She walked to Yiyue's side, took Yiyue's hand, and although she didn't know what had happened, she pretended to know and earnestly advised, "It's nothing serious, please forgive your sister."
Yixue pursed her lips, glanced at Lingna who was trying to persuade Yiyue, and said nothing.
Yi Yue sighed and said, "Alright. This is the last time. Don't lie to me again, okay?"
"I understand," Yixue whispered. "I won't lie to Dad anymore."
"Yes, I believe you," Yi Yue said. "It's getting late, let's go home."
The three walked out of the restaurant, with Izuki walking in front and Reina Iyuki following behind.
Some distance from Yiyue, Reina whispered in Yixue's ear, "Don't make Daddy angry anymore. You must have done something wrong, otherwise Daddy wouldn't be so angry. Daddy is very good to us, and he works very hard." She advised him like a little adult.
"Hmm." Yixue nodded slightly, seemingly lost in thought.
Rena stuck out her tongue and joked playfully, "Don't you think Dad sometimes acts like a little kid? Sometimes he gets angry for no reason, just like a child."
Yi Xue suddenly stopped, her head lowered so her expression was unreadable: "You're the one who's a child!"
"Huh?" Rena blinked in surprise.
After Yixue finished speaking, she continued to follow behind Yiyue.
"Rua!" Reina stuck her tongue out at Yixue's retreating figure. "What's with the sudden fierceness? I was trying to give you some advice!"
Reina got into the car first, but Yixue didn't sit in the passenger seat; instead, she sat in the back.
"He does have some self-awareness, doesn't he? Someone who made a mistake should definitely sit in the back." Rena thought smugly, sitting in the passenger seat and fastening her seatbelt.
The car slowly started moving. Yixue looked up at Yiyue in front of her and thought, "I won't lie to Dad anymore." A gentle smile appeared on her face as she thought wistfully, "As long as Dad doesn't know, it's not a lie."
……
Back home, aside from Reina's sunny smile and conversation, Izuki and Izuki barely spoke. Reina's smile elicited only a forced smile from Izuki, along with a few nods and hums.
They each returned to their rooms.
Yi Yue washed her face in the bathroom in her room.
"Hoo..." Yi Yue let out a deep breath, trying to cheer herself up, but felt a little tired and wanted to lie down and take a nap. But for some reason, she didn't feel like sleeping and felt very down.
"Bang bang..." There was a knock on the door.
"Come in," Yi Yue said, sitting on the bed.
The door opened, and Yixue forced a smile, closed the door, and walked awkwardly to Yiyue, saying, "Dad, I'm sorry."
Yi Yue opened her mouth, intending to say, "What did you do wrong?" but then hesitated, feeling that the tone of the sentence might be too harsh. Yi Xue, on the other hand, was reluctant to scold her.
I wanted to say, "I'm not angry," but it felt too hypocritical, and I couldn't bring myself to say it. I tossed and turned, unable to find the right words.
"I shouldn't have lied to Dad." Yixue apologized first, pursing her lips, "I'm sorry." As she spoke, she hugged Yiyue and said "I'm sorry" repeatedly, her voice trembling with sobs.
Yi Yue was at a loss. Hearing Yi Xue's sobbing voice, she quickly comforted her, "It's okay, don't cry. I'm not angry anymore."
"Really?" Yi Xue's sobs grew softer and softer.
"Really." Yi Yue gently patted Yi Xue's back. "Just don't lie to me anymore. Dad is a little angry that you lied to me."
"I...I won't do it again." Yixue's voice trembled, as if she had just finished crying and hadn't recovered yet.
Yi Xue's head was turned away from Yi Yue's, so Yi Yue couldn't see Yi Xue's expression. She thought Yi Xue had just stopped crying and kept gently stroking Yi Xue's back.
Yixue curled up the corners of her mouth, her face slightly flushed, and whispered to herself, "Dad is so easy to fool... No, things Dad doesn't know don't count as fooling him."
Yixue broke free from Yiyue's embrace, blinking frantically. Her eyes glistened with tears. Her face was slightly flushed, which Yiyue assumed was due to emotional distress.
Yi Xue composed herself, her face flushed, and whispered in Yi Yue's ear, "Daddy, I love you." After saying that, she gave Yi Yue a light kiss on the cheek.
"Yes, Daddy likes you too." Yi Yue smiled and patted Yi Xue's head.
Yixue lowered her head obediently, her face flushed, and said earnestly, "Daddy, I didn't lie to you about this."
"Huh?" Yi Yue was slightly taken aback, but nodded and smiled, "Yes, Dad didn't lie to you."
"Hehe..." Yixue gasped for breath, her face flushed as she chuckled foolishly. She looked up, suppressing a laugh, with a strange expression, and pointed to her cheek.
Yi Yue was stunned for a moment, then reacted and gently kissed Yi Xue's cheek.
Chapter Eighty-Six, My Lord
Yi Yue gently touched Yi Xue's cheek, and in the brief moment, Yi Xue whispered in Yi Yue's ear, "Dad, you're so good."
Yi Yue said resentfully, "I'm good to you, so you should be good to me too. Don't lie to me next time."
“I treat my dad better than he treats me,” Yixue said earnestly.
Yi Yue didn't take it seriously: "Mmm." She yawned, feeling sleepy, and said, "Let's go out first."
Yixue obediently went out and gently closed the door.
Yi Yue felt a wave of fatigue wash over her. She lay down on the bed, slowly closed her eyes, and drifted off to sleep.
An hour later, the door to Izuki's room was opened.
Yixue tiptoed to sit next to Yiyue and whispered in Yiyue's ear, "Daddy, Daddy?"
"Huff...huff..." Yi Yue lay on her side, her nose tucked in, breathing evenly, looking like a cute little baby in her sleep.
Seeing that Yi Yue didn't react, Yi Xue stroked Yi Yue's hair, gently kissed Yi Yue's cheek, and said tenderly, "Sweet dreams, Daddy." As if nothing had happened, she walked out the door.
"My mouth is so thirsty, I'll go to the fridge and get a glass of juice." Rena muttered to herself as she walked out of her room, just in time to bump into Izuki coming out of Izuki's room.
"Isn't Dad taking a nap? What are you doing in Dad's room?" Rena asked, puzzled.
Yixue smiled and gently beckoned Rena over.
"What's all the mystery about?" Reina walked up to Yixue, who leaned close to her lips and whispered, "It's a secret. Hehe." They parted, and Yixue smiled, her expression captivating, like a pure white lotus rising from the mud.
Rena's heart skipped a beat, her face flushed slightly as she turned away, and she scoffed, "What's this? If you weren't going to tell me, you wouldn't have told me! You're just playing me!"
Yi Xue simply smiled and remained silent.
……
Around 4 PM, Yi Yue woke up from her afternoon nap.
"Ugh!" Izuki stretched and yawned. "I'm so tired." She got up, washed up, went downstairs to the kitchen, and passed by the living room, where she saw Reina sitting on the sofa watching TV.
Izuki complained, "Rena, your final exams are in a few days. Why don't you look like you're taking an exam at all? You're watching TV instead of studying."
"I studied all afternoon!" Rena pouted, looking aggrieved. "Dad, you were sleeping this afternoon and didn't see me studying in my room. I just finished studying and was planning to watch some TV and rest for a while."
"Oh, I see." Yi Yue said with an awkward smile, "I'm sorry, Dad misunderstood you."
"It's alright, I, Rena, don't hold grudges." Rena said smugly, her snow-white feet landing on the sofa. "If Xiaoyuezi makes me something delicious, I'll forgive you."
"Yes, ma'am!" Itsuki chimed in, cooperating with Rena, and said with a smile, "I'll make something delicious for Lady Rena right away."
"Hehe." Rena happily hopped around, her snow-white little feet shaking energetically on the sofa.
"Be careful, don't fall," Yi Yue warned. "It's dangerous."
"Okay," Rena said with a giggle, and sat down.
Yi Yue smiled and shook her head, then went to the kitchen to prepare something delicious for them.
An hour later, all the dishes were on the table.
Reina and Yuki were both sitting at the table.
Rena smelled the aroma and started eating: "Delicious."
