Yi Yue sighed, "I'm worried about my daughters."

“What’s there to worry about? They’re all grown up now and can take care of themselves,” Makise said. “Tsuki, you’re spoiling them too much. I’m afraid they won’t be able to manage without you. You need to train them to be independent.”

"I know too." Yi Yue sighed and told Makise the whole story about Rena calling her yesterday.

"I'm really a little worried," Yi Yue said with concern.

Makise comforted her, "It was just a false alarm."

"But what if..."

“It’s alright,” Makise said.

Yi Yue could only forcefully suppress her bad premonition.

Izuki accompanied Makise to Nankai Park, but her mind was not on the matter at all.

I called Reina during lunchtime.

"Have you eaten?" Yi Yue asked.

Rena said, "Not yet."

Yi Yue said softly, "Go eat quickly, don't let your stomach get upset. Have you had breakfast? Don't stay up too late, you have to get up and eat breakfast. Eat less snacks, they're not good for your health."

Reina nodded.

"Make sure to close the doors and windows properly when you go to sleep at night. Call me if anything happens," Yi Yue said gently. "If you're scared, turn on the bedside lamp. You can also call me, don't worry about disturbing me. If you're afraid to go to the bathroom, you can sleep in my room, or call your sister."

"Okay!" Rena interrupted, blushing, and murmured softly, "Just like an old woman."

Izuki smiled helplessly. Not far away, Makise called to him, "Yue, come here quickly!"

Izuki nodded and said to Rena, "I'll hang up now and call you later."

"Hmph, you'd better go keep Mom company, or she'll be unhappy," Rena said, hanging up the phone. Turning around, she saw Yixue standing behind her.

Rena was startled: "What are you doing? You walk without making a sound."

Yixue smiled and asked, "Did Dad say anything?"

"What else can I say?" Reina glanced at Yixue unhappily. "It's just all that random, rambling stuff."

Did Dad say when he'll be back?

"How could she possibly be back so early?" Reina looked at Yixue strangely before returning to her room.

Yixue squinted her eyes and whispered, "Isn't Daddy planning to come back yet...?"

……

"Moon, you're talking to Rena on the phone again?" Makise said unhappily, holding a cotton candy in her hand, and found a seat.

"Yes, I was a little worried, so I said a few more words."

Makise glared at Itsuki, tore off a piece of marshmallow, and fed it to Itsuki: "Ah."

Yi Yue smiled, opened her mouth, and ate it.

Makise suddenly said, "Tsuki, let's go back tomorrow. I've already booked my plane tickets."

"Huh?" Izuki looked at Makise in confusion. Didn't she just object to him going back?

Makise whispered, "I've changed my mind. I know Yue is worried, and playing like this isn't very interesting."

"Makise..." Itsuki couldn't bear it.

Makise curled the corners of her lips: "You want to make amends, don't you? I don't want Yue to make amends. Because I want Yue to owe me a lot, a lot, so that Yue will never be able to leave me for the rest of his life."

Izuki didn't know what to say. Makise tore off a piece of marshmallow and held it to Izuki's mouth: "Ah, open your mouth."

When Yi Yue ate it, she couldn't taste any sweetness.

"Is it good?" Makise asked Izuki.

Izuki hummed in agreement and tore off a piece of marshmallow to feed Makise.

Makise smiled happily: "It's really delicious."

……

The next day, I took a plane home.

When Izuki opened the door, she saw Rena sprawled on the sofa like a salted fish. On the table was a large bottle of Pepsi, next to which were empty barbecue skewers and a styrofoam box.

"Huh..." Rena froze, blinking her eyes. "Didn't you say you wouldn't be back for a week?"

Izuki looked at Reina with displeasure: "No playing on your phone or watching TV tonight. Stay in your room and do your homework properly!"

"No!" Rena screamed, looking pleadingly at Makise.

Makise smiled, but there was a faint black aura emanating from her.

"I was so worried, I even booked plane tickets and rushed back with Yue. But you were enjoying good food and drinks, hehehe."

Faced with the darkened Makise, Rena shrank back in fear: "I... I can explain."

"Moon, what do you think we should do?" Makise maintained her smile.

Yi Yue glanced at the barbecue box, the large and small bottles of beverage cans, and the various snack packages on the table: "How much money have you spent these past two days?"

Feeling guilty, Rena took out the remaining two hundred-odd dollars from her pocket.

"Is this all that's left?!" Yi Yue said, somewhat angrily.

Rena lowered her head and pursed her lips.

"Mom gave you money for emergencies. It's for you to eat a little when you're hungry, not for you to waste money and eat snacks instead of meals! It's not like Yixue hasn't cooked." Yiyue said angrily, "It's only been two days and you've already spent so much."

Makise advised, "Tsuki, it's nothing, a little bit won't hurt."

Izuki glared at Rena and handed the money back to her: "Don't waste it!"

Reina gave a guilty "hmm".

Yi Yue sighed: "What are you standing there for? Hurry up and pack your things."

Yixue upstairs heard the noise and came down.

"Dad, you're back so early?" Yixue asked happily.

Makise said in a strained tone, “He’s worried about ‘you’.” He emphasized the word “you.”

Yi Xue's expression remained unchanged, her smile unchanged. Inwardly, however, she narrowed her eyes coldly and glanced at Mu Se.

Yi Yue said, "I was a little worried, so I came back early."

"Oh, I see." Yixue said apologetically, "I'm sorry to have worried Dad." It seemed that Yiyue was worried and that she was taking all the blame for coming back early.

Rena didn't know why, but she felt a little uneasy.

"Oh, right." Yi Xue remembered something and hurriedly went upstairs. After a while, she came back upstairs with a notebook and gave the money and the notebook to Yi Yue.

"What's this?" Yi Yue opened her notebook, which clearly showed where the money had been spent. There were still over nine hundred yuan left; not much had been spent.

Yi Xue stood obediently in front of Yi Yue with a smile, like a good daughter waiting for her father's praise.

Yi Yue smiled and nodded, handing the money to Yi Xue: "Keep the money."

"No need," Yixue declined.

Yi Yue said, "It's alright, I'll keep it with me for future use." Yi Yue trusted that Yi Xue wouldn't squander it.

Yixue obediently hummed in agreement and accepted the gift, saying, "Thank you, Daddy."

Rena was very unhappy and muttered something under her breath.

Makise felt something was off, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

Chapter 151 Dependence and Schemes

"You haven't eaten yet, have you? I'll go make some right away," Yixue said.

Yi Yue said, "I'll do it."

"No need," Yixue smiled. "Let Dad try my cooking." She went to the kitchen to cook.

It took almost an hour to prepare, and the dishes were plentiful. There was braised eggplant, pork rib soup, lychee pork, sweet and sour fish fillets, and many other dishes that Yiyue loves.

When the dishes were served, Yi Yue took a sniff and smiled, "They smell delicious."

Yixue placed a piece of meat into Yiyue's bowl: "Try it, how does it taste?"

Yi Yue hummed in agreement: "Delicious! Very well made."

Yixue said shyly, "No, it's not as good as Dad's." As she spoke, she put another piece of fish on Yiyue's plate.

Yi Xue was laughing happily, but Mu Se felt something was off.

Yixue noticed Mu Se's gaze and smiled at her, "Mom, you should eat too. Try my cooking."

No food was served to Makise; instead, Makise picked up a slice of fish herself, which tasted a bit too sweet. Frowning, she then tried the eggplant and meat slices, both of which were also somewhat sweet.

"Moon, do you think it tastes a little too sweet?" Makise asked.

Yi Yue asked in surprise, "No, it tastes just right to me, it's not sweet at all." She picked up another slice of fish, which tasted just right.

Makise forced a smile: "That might be my problem." She looked at Rena.

Rena was enjoying her meal, indulging in neither sweet, spicy, nor salty dishes—as long as it tasted good. Between bites, she muttered, "Dad cooks so many dishes as soon as he gets back, and they're so good. I never see you like this usually." In her heart, she thought, "Such a bootlicker."

Makise's mind stirred, as if he had realized something. Yixue's gaze kept drifting towards Yiyue, seemingly unintentionally.

Makise frowned and suddenly asked Rena, "Why did you call Dad in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?" He knew the answer already.

Rena became somewhat unhappy when the topic was brought up.

"I was scared watching a horror movie," Rena whispered. "It's all Yixue's fault for watching a horror movie at night; it kept me awake!"

“Yixue…” Makise glanced at Yixue.

Yi Yue said with dissatisfaction, "If you want to see it, how can you blame your sister?"

Yixue looked apologetic: "It is indeed my fault. If I hadn't looked, I wouldn't have bothered Dad."
