However, Eldridge paid a heavy price for forcibly unleashing Moonlight Arrow Rain. He had been slashed countless times by Lu Ming with the Farron Greatsword and the Irithyll Straight Sword, and the flames of the Nitrogen Charge and the frost of the Irithyll Straight Sword had also caused him considerable damage.

Staring blankly at Eldridge, Lu Ming planted the Farron Greatsword in the ground, forcefully pulled the two Moonlight Arrows that had hit him because he couldn't dodge in time from his arms and shoulders, threw them to the ground, and then took out a bottle of elemental vials and drank it down in one gulp.

The wounds on his body healed rapidly under the warmth of the flames from the elemental bottle. Then, Lu Ming pulled the Fran Greatsword from the ground, swung it sharply, and flung off the mud.

Seeing the Elemental Bottle in Lu Ming's hand, Eldridge immediately knew he couldn't delay any longer. Although this was merely an illusion of his, and even if Lu Ming killed it, it wouldn't pose any real threat, his pride as a Saint of the Deep wouldn't allow him to accept defeat!

The Undead Legion is admirable, but a lone member of the Undead Legion is nothing but a chicken. With this in mind, Eldridge once again fired Moon Arrows into the sky, making the rain of Moon Arrows denser and causing them to deflect towards Lu Ming, instead chasing him around.

"I, Eldridge, the Saint of the Deep, the Lord of Cinder of the Deep, will never lose!" Watching Lu Ming being chased by a rain of moonlight arrows, the phantom, whose strength was less than 30% of the original, continued to fire moonlight arrows while showing off to Lu Ming.

However, he did not notice that Lu Ming's Aggron was right behind him at that moment, watching him intently!

Seizing the opportunity presented by Aldridge's phantom preparing to unleash another barrage of Moonlight Arrows, Aggron didn't hesitate to run towards him. With each step that shook the earth, Aggron leaped into the air, its body radiating white light, and to Aldridge's horrified gaze, slammed heavily into him!

-----------------------------------

Lily might be able to dodge Smo's attacks by relying on her speed, but over time, her stamina will also decline rapidly.

So while Lily was drawing Smo's ire, Miral and the knights attacked the tyrannical madman from behind.

The problem is that the blades barely scratched Smo's golden armor, and even Miral's magic and the strongest swordsman's sword strikes had little effect on Smo, who was wearing armor.

This situation made everyone angrily wonder what Smo's armor was made of.

However, after discovering that Smo was difficult to deal with, Miral immediately remembered the tactic that Lu Ming always used in dungeons: control the opponent first, and then launch an attack.

Whether it's the paralysis from Lightning Palm, the freezing from Ice Beam, or the fear from Evil Pulse, they are all excellent control methods. Although Miral only knows Ice Beam, she should be able to control Smo with this skill, which makes Lily breathe a slight sigh of relief.

So, taking advantage of the opportunity when Small launched a fierce attack on Lily and neglected his own group, Miral directly unleashed several freezing rays, easily freezing Small's legs, causing him to accidentally fall to the ground and be unable to get up for a while.

Seizing the opportunity, Lily and the knights swarmed forward, using their weapons to launch a frenzied attack on the fallen Smo.

Sword slashes, electric balls, heavy slashes—all sorts of attacks were unleashed on Smo, with the aim of killing him before he could get up.

Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. Instead of being killed by their onslaught, Small slammed his arm into the ground, unleashing an earthquake!

The earthen-yellow shockwave sent everyone flying, crashing heavily into the wall and spitting out a mouthful of blood.

Small, who had been beaten up by the crowd, also stood up from the ground, leaning on his sledgehammer.

Although Smo was wearing armor and no one could see his face, the increasingly violent aura emanating from him showed that he was angry!

"Are you few capable of fighting?" Lily asked her knights as she got up from the ground.

Seeing that Lady Lily was still able to fight, the knights naturally shouted, "Yes!!"

Hearing the knights' reply, Lily smiled slightly, then said to Mirall, "Mirall, gather the light element and prepare to use the magic Lu Ming taught you to take down this guy!"

“Understood!” Miral replied, then began to gather the light elements from the temple, drawing a light-attribute magic circle in front of him. He prepared to bombard Smo with compressed light elements to completely defeat him.

For some reason, although Miral was gathering light elements, the magic circle gathered dark elements instead. What was originally a pure white magic circle had now turned into a pitch-black dark element magic circle.

This puzzled Miral greatly, and she began to doubt the true nature of this temple, whether it was really as sunny and bright as it appeared.

While gathering dark elements, Miral suddenly shouted to a knight of average strength who was not far away and had not yet joined the attack on Smo, the executioner: "Pradtus! Go and pick up that box from there!"

Upon hearing Miral's call, the knight did not act immediately. Instead, he looked towards Lily first, and only after Lily nodded slightly did he start running towards the glowing box.

Seeing this, Miral muttered to herself in dissatisfaction, "What's wrong with me? I'm Lu Ming's wife too. Why do I have to listen to Lily?!"

At that moment, the knight ran quickly toward the box and picked up the triangular, bloodstained box from the ground.

In an instant, the temple became completely dark, and nothing could be seen.

The sudden darkness caused the two knights to be accidentally smashed into a bloody pulp by Smo!

However, the other people's weapons easily pierced Smooth's previously impenetrable golden armor, causing him great damage!

"Ah~!!" A roar that sounded like both anger and screams burst forth from beneath Smo's golden armor. He swung his arm violently, sending Lily and the swordsman among the knights flying in the pitch-black darkness.

Then, he continued to pull the longswords, which were inserted into his body, out of his body in a fit of rage, and threw them to the ground, stomping on them and breaking them in two!

But at that moment, Miral suddenly unleashed a fireball at him while gathering dark elements, knocking him to the ground.

Illuminated by the fireball spell, everyone saw what Smo looked like at that moment.

His golden armor was now tattered and torn, and his body beneath it was covered in wounds. The tattered armor also had charred marks from being burned by flames.

Based on his current appearance and his earlier words, Miral and the others knew that he had indeed died once before, in the battle to defend this place. His shattered armor, gruesome wounds, and furious roar all spoke of the tragic grandeur of his death and his resentment at the delayed arrival of reinforcements.

However, this was not a reason for Miral and the others to show mercy. Showing mercy to him would be cruel to themselves, so Miral unleashed the dark element he had condensed without hesitation, blasting this terrifying magic towards Smo.

"Dark Bombardment!!"

The pitch-black dark element, as it shot towards Smo, simultaneously absorbed all the light, plunging the temple into absolute darkness.

Within this temple where nothing could be seen, the dark element struck Smo, tearing him to shreds with a roar.

This wasn't Smo's full power, everyone knew that, and if Pradtus didn't pick up the box and restore the temple to its original state, Miral's magic wouldn't have been able to defeat Smo. Such an attack might severely injure Smo, but it could never defeat Smo at his peak!

"He was clearly a brutal butcher, yet he was the one who protected this temple until the very end?" As the dark element receded, Smo's corpse transformed into an undead campfire. Lily walked step by step to the campfire, picked up a skill book on earthquake from the ground, and sighed at Smo's words and past.

“Now doesn’t seem like the time for lamenting, does it?” Miral walked over to Lily, lit the undead campfire, and then pointed to the triangular box in Pradtus’s hand, saying, “Our most important thing right now is to find Lu Ming and the others and figure out what that box is, why it allowed us to come to Irithyll and Anor Londo, and why it allowed Smo, who was already dead, to reappear here and become so strong.”

Upon hearing this, Lily nodded, handing the skill book to Miral so she could put it in her phone. She then pointed to two automatic elevators not far away and said, "Let's go that way; we should be able to meet Lu Ming and the others upstairs." (To be continued.)

Chapter Sixty-Nine - The Box

Seeing the phantom of Eldridge smashed to pieces by Aggron, Lu Ming ran up without hesitation and unleashed a lightning palm strike, viciously slamming it onto the phantom's already twisted head, instantly killing it.

He forcefully shook his hand, swatting away the dark, viscous mud that was clinging to it and corroding him. Then, Lu Ming looked at the members of the Evil Spirit Church who had already been captured by the others.

Seeing Lu Ming looking at them with a cold gaze, the members of the Evil Spirit Church were terrified. They began begging for mercy from Lu Ming and the others, even offering secrets of the church in exchange for their lives. Only Shay remained silent, meeting Lu Ming's gaze without fear.

After a long while, Lu Ming frowned and stopped looking at the captured members of the Evil Spirit Church, because apart from Shay, almost none of them knew the real secrets. Even if one or two knew a little bit, it would only be superficial and of little use to Odysseus in dealing with the Evil Spirit Church.

So Lu Ming didn't think much of it and had the knights tie up all the members of the Evil Spirit Church except Shay and hand them over to Pastor Wilson and Earl Winsland for disposal.

The result of doing so was that they were purified by Pastor Wilson.

In the prayer of the God of Light, the members of the evil spirit church were slit one by one by Pastor Wilson with a dagger engraved with sacred texts.

Special prayers and a special dagger prevent these evil beings from returning to the embrace of the god of pain and torment, forcing them to wait in a special prison until the river of time dries up, returning to nothingness with all things. Moreover, in the prison, they are unable to torture others or themselves—this is arguably the most terrible punishment for them!

Hearing his companions' cries of agony as their throats were slit, Shay closed his eyes in anguish, unwilling to witness the despair on their faces as they died. But how could he, who had never tormented anyone, know that each of his companions was a bloodthirsty villain?

After all the members of the evil cult were purified and their lives ended, Lu Ming immediately led the others to the innermost automatic elevator in the room, and from there they went upstairs in batches.

Unlike Lily and her group, Lu Ming and his group took the elevator on the left, while Lily and her group took the elevator on the right.

This directly led to them encountering different situations after arriving on the second floor.

On Lily's side, they had just arrived on the second floor when they came face to face with the corpses of two Silver Knights, who were still holding two scrolls of miracles in their hands.

Upon seeing this, Lily immediately went over and took the scroll of miracles from the hands of the two corpses.

Seeing Lily's actions, Miral immediately followed and took the two scrolls, glancing at them briefly.

"This is the scroll of the Oath of Gold and Stone, which tells the story of the eldest son of the Sun, a knight, and a dragon hunter hunting dragons together." After reading the story of the miracle on the scroll, Miral handed one of them to Lily, while she kept the other scroll for herself, intending to give it to Lu Ming for research.

"A story about dragon hunting? Looks like I'll have to ask Lu Ming to take me along when I advance to become a dragon slayer. After all, dragon hunting is a common occurrence in his hometown." Lily said, seemingly jokingly, as she put away the scroll that Miral had returned to her.

Seeing Lily joking, Miral couldn't help but join in: "Then you'd better work harder. Sham is already a sword master now. If you don't put in the effort, she might get Lu Ming to take her dragon hunting first!"

Although Miral's joke made Lily a little unhappy, she wasn't angry. She simply hugged Miral's neck and whispered with a laugh, "You don't want to run a tutoring center in your life, do you?"

"I'm so sorry, please forgive me." Realizing he had said the wrong thing, Miral immediately begged for forgiveness.

Only then did Lily let her go, and instead led the knights toward a room not far away.

Having barely escaped the misfortune of not being able to run tutoring classes during the holidays, Miral watched Lily's retreating figure and muttered under her breath, somewhat angrily, "What's with the attitude of being the legal wife?!"

Meanwhile, on the other side, Lu Ming and his group didn't encounter the same good fortune as Lily and her group. They had just arrived on the second floor when they were immediately confronted by five Astra knights.

The moment they met, the five Astra knights raised their weapons without hesitation and charged forward.

But the result was that Aggron directly knocked him back to the campfire with a single Water Tail attack, leaving only five Astra Knight Swords behind.

"We finally ran into these guys." Shaking his head with a slight headache, Lu Ming sighed softly, then led everyone toward Princess Gewievia's room.

Lily and Lu Ming simultaneously placed their hands on the door and pushed it open, one on each side.

Just as Lu Ming had expected, the room was empty, but a triangular box was placed on a platform under Gevia's bed, shimmering with a golden light.

While everyone was marveling at how enormous the bed was, Lu Ming walked over to the bed, picked up the triangular box from the platform under the bed, wiped the bloodstains off it with a rag, and then opened it.

Just then, the campfire in the room was lit.

Hearing the sound of the campfire being lit, Lu Ming immediately turned around. He knew that none of them were undead, so there was no way they could light an undead campfire. They had fought their way through without the healing power of an undead campfire. Now that the campfire had suddenly been lit, he was startled, fearing something terrible had happened.

To their surprise, they discovered that the person who lit the campfire was none other than Miral! Moreover, Lily and several other knights who were not in their party suddenly and inexplicably appeared there.

The two looked at each other in surprise, as if to say, 'What are you doing here?'

"Where did you all come from? When we came in, there was no one here." Miral looked at Lu Ming and the others with some surprise and couldn't help but ask them.

But before Lu Ming could answer, Winslant couldn't help but ask Lily and the others, "How did you all manage to appear here? There were only a few of us in the room, and no one else came in!"

Because both sides were deeply puzzled by the other's sudden appearance, Lu Ming suggested that everyone sit down by the Undead campfire to rest and recount what had happened along the way. This way, they could quickly figure out what was going on.

Sitting around the Undead campfire, Lily and Miral told Lu Ming and the others about their battles with Sulyvahn's beasts, the Bishop of the Deep, and the Papal Knights along the way, and also recounted their battle with Smo downstairs.

Immediately, everyone on Lu Ming's side except Lu Ming himself was taken aback. Earl Winsland was particularly incredulous, saying, "This is impossible! Downstairs is clearly where we fought Eldridge's phantom!"

Upon hearing the name Eldritch, Miral and Lily both looked at Lu Ming with concern. From what Kanina and Lily from the future had told them, Lu Ming would be eaten by Eldritch. Therefore, they were worried that during his battle with Eldritch's phantom, Lu Ming might have been secretly cursed or something.

Seeing Lily and Miral looking at him with great concern, Lu Ming smiled and shook his head, saying, "Don't worry, I'm fine."

Only then did Lily and Miral feel relieved and no longer have to worry.

After resting for a while, Lu Ming said to everyone, "Now that we've found the boxes, and there are two of them, I think it's time for us to leave. After all, this isn't a place to stay for long."

Upon hearing this, everyone nodded, got up from the ground, and prepared to leave.

However, one thing puzzled everyone: the second triangular box. Only one triangular box had been taken from Count Helmphis's body, so why was there a second one? Furthermore, why did one box emit a white fluorescence while the other emitted a faint golden glow? Could it be that the Evil Spirit Church had made two boxes?

With these questions in mind, the group left and returned to the first floor, where they reunited with the knights outside, preparing to leave Kearnor Londo and Irithyll of the Boreal Valley.

But when they came down from the building and returned to the streets of Irithyll, they were surprised to find that one of the bodies of the members of the Church of Evil was missing. That body belonged to the old man who had led the other members of the Church of Evil to Irithyll, the bishop of the Church of Evil.

At this moment, his body had vanished without a trace, both the body and the pieces of flesh had disappeared!

This situation was completely unexpected by everyone, and it infuriated Lu Ming. The bishop of that evil cult had actually faked his death, making him and everyone else believe he was dead.

Shea, who had been captured by Lu Ming and his men, was also filled with boundless rage at the bishop's feigned death and escape.

He claimed that this place held the potential to find someone who could help the Church of the Evil Spirit change the world, but the only one waiting for them was Death, a god whom no one liked. Neither the Pope Knight, the Bishop of the Deep, the Silver Knight of Anor Londo, nor the Saint of the Deep, Eldridge, possessed the slightest desire to help the Church of the Evil Spirit.
