Zhang Zhongyi knew these were no longer corpses, but zombies. Zombies manipulated by the T-virus. **Infection with the T-virus, from infection and onset to death and transformation into a zombie, takes about half an hour. If a corpse is infected with the T-virus, becoming a zombie is only a matter of minutes. It's like in the movie Resident Evil 2, where bodies in the cemetery are resurrected after being infected with the T-virus.**

Rebecca fired first. The series of changes gradually allowed Rebecca to adapt. Rebecca's shots hit the heart every time, but to these zombies, it was utterly useless.

Seeing the zombies she had shot in the heart rushing towards her as if nothing had happened, Rebecca was stunned and asked nervously, "What's going on?" She was completely unaware that one of the zombies was about to pounce on her.

“These are zombies. Shoot them in the head,” Zhang Zhongyi said expressionlessly, then continued firing.

Zhang Zhongyi kept firing, taking down the zombies that rushed towards them. The two of them slowly eliminated the zombies in this carriage. At this moment, Zhang Zhongyi suggested, "Rebecca, let's go take a look ahead."

Just then, the sharp sound of gunfire rang out again. Zhang Zhongyi was startled and quickly raised his rifle, fearing that several zombies might suddenly jump out. After waiting for a while and seeing no movement, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Zhang Zhongyi got up from the ground and looked around before realizing that all the zombies in the carriage had been killed. Clearly, someone had done it. Zhang Zhongyi examined them closely and saw that several zombies had their necks snapped. Two of them even had their entire heads twisted off.

Such skill was something only someone in the military could possess. Zhang Zhongyi and Jill exchanged a glance, both understanding one thing: there were other survivors on the train. And these were survivors with considerable strength, something that required extreme caution.

To survive in this environment and be able to kill the zombies with one's bare hands is clearly not something to be underestimated. Zhang Zhongyi already knew the most reasonable explanation.

As Zhang Zhongyi was pondering, Rebecca suddenly called out to him from behind. Zhang Zhongyi quickly turned around, and what he saw surprised him greatly. Because he had been so focused on and wary of the zombies, Zhang Zhongyi had completely forgotten about Marcus, the biggest manufacturer of this train.

One after another, leeches crawled into the gap in the carriage, their speed so great that they formed a line, like a black jet of water. This was terrifying enough, but what was even more terrifying was that these leeches merged together and quickly transformed into a young man.

“Leech Queen, Marcus.” This time, Zhang Zhongyi couldn’t help but say it aloud. Because he was another carrier of a high-level virus, which demonstrated his power.

When facing crawlers, Zhang Zhongyi could easily contend with them. But Marcus before him made Zhang Zhongyi frown. Although Marcus was somewhat powerful, Zhang Zhongyi believed that he could still barely defeat him if he used his full strength.

However, there was more than one leech. Leeches kept crawling into the cramped carriage, so it's possible that Marcus is now immortal. One leech is the reason Marcus is alive.

"Bang bang bang..." Rebecca couldn't hold back any longer. She grabbed her assault rifle and pulled the trigger, emptying all thirty bullets in an instant. Marcus, the one at the front, was hit, but only staggered a few times; he wasn't seriously injured. Instead, as if Rebecca had provoked his ferocity, he instantly charged forward.

Despite her status as a highly trained police elite, Rebecca dodged the attack with a quick sidestep. However, Marcus's attack continued. The leeches on the ground also pounced. Rebecca dodged the first blow, and Zhang Zhongyi instantly rushed over to absorb the leeches' power.

Just now, Zhang Zhongyi remembered that Marcus was highly satisfied with the weapons, so naturally Zhang Zhongyi wouldn't waste his precious bullets on Marcus. Zhang Zhongyi easily grabbed the leeches on the ground and kept dealing with them, which meant he had grasped the rhythm of the battle.

Marcus hasn't killed these people yet because he wants to find someone within the Umbrella Corporation to help him gather information about the organization more quickly. Since his resurrection, Marcus's goal has remained unchanged. Wesker and William betrayed him while he was at Umbrella, so Marcus's objective is to make Umbrella a thing of the past—something he's been working towards all along. (To be continued...)

Chapter 145 Billy Cohen

"Come with me." Just as Zhang Zhongyi was wondering how to deal with Marcus, Marcus appeared as a blond youth, pointed at Zhang Zhongyi, and commanded him.

“Give me a reason to go, otherwise I won’t go even if it means death.” Zhang Zhongyi knew Marcus very well. He understood that Marcus needed a spy to infiltrate Umbrella Corporation, so he wouldn’t kill him until he had a clear plan.

“Of course, if you go over there, I’ll kill your companions,” Marcus said threateningly, pointing to Rebecca beside him.

"Alright, you win." Zhang Zhongyi waved his hand dismissively. Of course, Zhang Zhongyi wouldn't choose the path that was clearly disadvantageous to him.

“Matt…” Rebecca said with some concern.

"Don't worry, I'll be back in a bit," Zhang Zhongyi explained to Rebecca casually, seemingly unconcerned about his situation.

Just after Zhang Zhongyi left, the door at the other end of the carriage was kicked open, and soldiers in camouflage uniforms walked out, followed by gunshots.

"Da da da da da..."

It's unclear how many bullets that person used, but all the leeches next to Rebecca were wiped out. Adding to the ones Zhang Zhongyi just eliminated, there are now hundreds, even thousands, of leech corpses piled up on the ground in a thick layer.

A soldier dressed in special forces camouflage stepped out from behind the carriage door, holding an M16 assault rifle. If Zhang Zhongyi were here and saw his appearance, he would easily guess who he was.

Rebecca snapped out of her daze and quickly thanked the man, saying, "Thank you for your help." Just as she finished speaking, she noticed the man and exclaimed in confusion, "You're that...that hardened criminal Billy Cohen."

Billy chuckled, not denying it. He glanced at Rebecca, and just as she was about to say something, he said, "Come with me, there's plenty of ammunition inside." Then he went back to the carriage first. Rebecca, because Zhang Zhongyi had told her not to worry, didn't say anything for the time being. She also went inside and closed the door behind her.

All the high-ranking Umbrella executives in this carriage were dead, but Billy had clearly discovered the zombies' fatal weakness: their heads had been hit. In the dim light, it looked like a slaughterhouse.

Rebecca was a new member, but seeing this scene made her look rather uncomfortable. Having experienced the leeches on the train, Rebecca had become somewhat accustomed to such situations.

At Billy's urging, Rebecca and Billy collected all the guns and ammunition in the carriage, each carrying an M16. Billy glanced out the window; the heavy rain continued, and it was completely dark. He said, "Staying in the car isn't a solution. Let's get out. Maybe we can fight our way out." Billy said seriously. Rebecca didn't say anything; Zhang Zhongyi's formidable strength reassured her somewhat. Actually, Rebecca's main reason for coming here was to find Jill.

The train stopped after passing the station and heading deep into the Arklay Mountains, but its exact location was unknown. Rebecca had just tried to contact Enrique via communicator when she discovered it was completely useless; the members of Alpha Team were likely also in grave danger.

Rebecca actually came to the Arklay Mountains primarily for Jill's sake, having sent the Bulava team to investigate before Wesker arrived. Unfortunately, the Bulava team also lost contact. It's fair to say that the Marvel universe's Bulava and Alpha Team members are different from those in Resident Evil, but generally speaking, they're still largely safe.

“Matt, you’re really alright, and Jill, you’re here too.” Rebecca and Billy entered a secluded mansion in the Arklay Mountains and found Zhang Zhongyi and Jill there when they opened the door.

Of course, along the way, they encountered many zombies. While these zombies weren't particularly strong offensively, their numbers were vast, so the two had to rely on the powerful firepower of their M16 rifles to mow them down. All their ammunition was wasted on these zombies.

As soon as Rebecca saw Zhang Zhongyi, she ran out of the door and towards him, calling out, "Matt, it really is you!"

But then a giant bio-engineered snake suddenly appeared. The snake they were seeing was clearly not a normal snake; its head was half the size of a train carriage. It had crawled through a hole in the roof of the mansion, but got stuck; its body couldn't fit through, and its head couldn't get out either.

Seeing such a monster, no one dared to be the slightest bit careless. Zhang Zhongyi picked up his M16 rifle and began firing at the enormous head. This improved M16 rifle, worthy of being the weapon used to equip Umbrella soldiers, and on par with the AK-47, possessed truly formidable firepower. With that unusually large head, there was no fear of missing the target.

Billy and Jill, standing behind Zhang Zhongyi, had clearly also seen the monster. Three M16s opened fire simultaneously. The snake's head was stuck, unable to retract, and it became easy targets. Although its hide was thick, it couldn't withstand the bombardment of hundreds of bullets. In an instant, the train car became a scene of carnage, with blood and flesh strewn everywhere.

Only after watching the monstrous snake being killed did Zhang Zhongyi finally catch his breath. That damned T-virus had turned the world into a complete mess. Looking back at Billy and Jill, their expressions of shock were no better than Rebecca's.

"Rebecca, are you alright?" Jill called out to Rebecca, checking her over carefully from head to toe while praying that she hadn't been bitten by zombies, leeches, or strange snakes, otherwise she would have contracted the virus and, without an antidote, would turn into a zombie.

Fortunately, she wasn't infected. Rebecca then said, "Bulava Squad, why are you the only one here?"

At this point, Jill began to explain that the entire Bulava team had gone to Arklay South Mountain that morning on a mission, supposedly to eliminate the ferocious beasts that had recently gripped Raccoon City in fear. Rebecca didn't know the outcome. The Alpha team had only arrived after Wesker reported that the Bulava team had lost contact.

But now only Jill is there; the others are nowhere to be found.

“Jill, let us know what’s going on,” Rebecca asked impatiently.

"We're in trouble." Jill's face showed fear again, probably because what she had just experienced was too terrifying.

Jill briefly recounted what had happened. Zhang Zhongyi wasn't alarmed or surprised, as it wasn't much different from the plot of *Resident Evil 0*. The Bulava team's helicopter was attacked by an unknown weapon in the Akurey Mountains. After making an emergency landing, they were attacked by a pack of zombie dogs. In their panic, Jill got separated from the team. In the darkness of the Akurey Mountains, Jill couldn't distinguish roads or directions, running towards any light she saw, and eventually, by sheer chance, ended up at the mansion.

But Jill wasn't an ordinary soldier. In her panic, she pulled out her M9 pistol. Having learned from Wesker's training sessions that dealing with these zombies required blowing their heads off. These zombies didn't cause her much trouble.

However, unlike the original plot, Wesker wasn't the mastermind in the end. It was actually Red Skull and Marcus who did it, and they were eventually driven away by the new type of Pursuer, which was a new Tyrant infused with mutant genes.

"What do we do next?" Zhang Zhongyi asked Jill beside him helplessly.

“Of course, it’s to tell Captain Wesker what happened here. Good thing the biological weapon just now let those spies escape,” Jill said thoughtfully. Jill currently only hates the Hydra organization and that guy Marcus; she still has a good impression of the Umbrella Corporation. (To be continued...)

Chapter 146 Mutant Giant Scorpion

Since the train was intact, everyone decided to leave together on it. Red Skull and Marcus had already left. Once on the train, they discovered that most of the zombies had been killed. The journey back to the front carriages was smooth, with no new monsters appearing.

Just as they were about to return to the foremost cockpit, black energy suddenly appeared on Zhang Zhongyi's forehead. It was that same dangerous feeling again; Zhang Zhongyi's martial arts technique allowed him to detect the danger.

"Everyone be careful, something strange is going on here!" Zhang Zhongyi said seriously.

Jill, Rebecca, and Billy were already on edge, and when Zhang Zhongyi told them to be careful, they became even more tense. Rebecca accidentally pulled the trigger and fired at the half-open door.

Jill and Billy, thinking she had seen a monster, also pulled the trigger. The M16 rifle had far more firepower than Rebecca's pistol, and after a burst of fire, the wooden door was blown to smithereens.

The door was broken, and although the light was dim, Zhang Zhongyi could still see clearly that there was nothing strange in the carriage ahead.

Could it be on the level above? Zhang Zhongyi couldn't help but wonder. His sense of danger was still very accurate, and it had proven true time and again since he began practicing his cultivation technique.

Except for the last few single-decker carriages, the rest of the train had two levels connected by stairs. Zhang Zhongyi looked up, took a breath, and focused his mind, hoping to spot the danger.

Every time Zhang Zhongyi pays attention to his surroundings, his bodily functions and sensory perception are activated to the maximum. However, he cannot freely control his cultivation technique because he has not yet reached its peak. In such a perilous place, if he can sense danger in advance and detect its aura, his chances of escape will greatly increase.

To Zhang Zhongyi's disappointment, he did not sense anything unusual.

Jill, Rebecca, and Billy had already cautiously entered the front cockpit. Zhang Zhongyi wanted to go up to the second floor to take a look, but suddenly his heart skipped a beat again—it was that familiar sense of danger! And this time, Zhang Zhongyi seemed to sense the location; it was right behind him.

Zhang Zhongyi suddenly turned around. There was nothing unusual behind him. But the sense of danger in Zhang Zhongyi's heart didn't dissipate; instead, it intensified. Suddenly, a voice cried out in his mind: "Up there!"

Zhang Zhongyi raised his M16 rifle, aimed it at the sky above his head, and pulled the trigger. The wooden roof of the carriage couldn't stop the bullet, but as it passed through, it seemed to hit a steel plate, making a clanging sound.

This is it. Although he knew bullets might not be effective against it, its hiding place posed a significant threat to Zhang Zhongyi. He had to find a way to force it out. After several bursts of fire, his ammunition was nearly depleted; in the blink of an eye, the magazine was empty, and the ground was littered with spent cartridge cases.

"What did you find?" Billy rushed back from the front carriage and stood beside Zhang Zhongyi, asking anxiously. He looked up; although the carriage was riddled with bullet holes, he still couldn't see anything.

"There's nothing there!" But Zhang Zhongyi noticed his grave expression, clearly sensing the potential danger. Billy was originally a Marine Corps special forces soldier. Having experienced many life-or-death situations, his senses were far more acute than the average person's.

Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist!

Without ammunition, the M16 was useless. Zhang Zhongyi turned it around, grabbed the barrel, and then jumped up, swinging the rifle and slamming it upwards.

After escaping from the Hive Base, Zhang Zhongyi knew that his body had been completely modified by the T-virus. His muscles and bones were strengthened many times over, and his strength, speed, and jumping ability were five or six times that of a normal person. The train's two-story structure was only four or five meters high. If it weren't for the roof panel, Zhang Zhongyi could have jumped all the way to the top of the carriage. Coupled with Zhang Zhongyi's extraordinary skills, swinging his rifle at the roof panel, which was already fragile from being riddled with bullets, it was easily smashed to pieces.

However, because Zhang Zhongyi was unable to control his strength at the moment, he jumped too forcefully and ended up on the next floor. Then Zhang Zhongyi saw the monster that ignored the M16 rifle fire.

It turned out to be a bio-engineered scorpion.

If it were just an ordinary scorpion, although it's a venomous insect, it wouldn't be too scary as long as you weren't stung by its stinger; you could just walk over and step on it. But the scorpion in front of Zhang Zhongyi was clearly not an ordinary one.

First, it was enormous, its massive body taking up half the carriage. Second, its outer shell was very strange, as if painted red, gleaming with a dazzling light. Considering the effect of the bullets hitting it earlier, one could tell how hard this shell was, probably no less than steel.

Such a biological version of Iron Man is not so easy to deal with.

The mutated giant scorpion had clearly noticed Zhang Zhongyi's presence. It was probably asleep, lying on top of him, and hadn't even noticed us walking below. The recent barrage of gunfire had woken it up, and now it stared with its large, bell-like eyes, its long tail waving, looking ready to attack.

Billy, Jill, and Rebecca ran up the stairs and were stunned when they saw the monster.

The mutated giant scorpion was waiting for its chance, but as soon as Billy and the other two appeared, it couldn't hold back any longer. Its eight legs rustled and crawled together, and its two large venomous pincers came at Zhang Zhongyi's head.

Zhang Zhongyi had been on guard against it all along, so naturally he wouldn't let it succeed so easily. But the monster was simply too big; when its venomous pincers reached out, the entire carriage was within its attack range, and there was nowhere to escape.

With only an M16 out of ammunition, he had no choice but to use it as a weapon. Seeing the giant pincers approaching, Zhang Zhongyi used his internal energy and the power of the T-virus to attack. Although his body had been modified by the T-virus, Zhang Zhongyi's strength far surpassed that of an ordinary person, but compared to the behemoth before him, there was still a significant gap.

The rifle and the giant pincers collided in Zhang Zhongyi's hands, and it felt like he had been struck by a heavy blow. His hand split open, and the rifle flew out of his grasp, smashing through the glass with a loud bang and flying out of the carriage. Zhang Zhongyi's body was also propelled a considerable distance by the force of the impact, finally slamming heavily against the wall. His demonic cultivation techniques were still too weak for the time being, and he couldn't absorb power from a strong human, which also contributed to his limited strength.

Then gunshots rang out. Seeing Zhang Zhongyi in trouble, Billy and the other two rushed forward and began firing at the mutated giant scorpion's head. Jill, having witnessed Zhang Zhongyi's strength, was horrified to see him sent flying by the monster.

The mutated giant scorpion has an iron-hard exoskeleton, and bullets cannot cause it much damage. However, this creature is not without its weaknesses. Although its exoskeleton is extremely hard, it cannot completely cover its entire body, and some things are always exposed, such as its eyes.

Its eyes, as big as copper bells, were its fatal weakness. Billy, a special forces soldier with extensive combat experience, spotted this weakness at a glance and aimed his M16 at the giant scorpion's eyes.

Despite its enormous size, the mutated giant scorpion wasn't clumsy. Using its eight legs to move back and forth, it managed to dodge all the attacks. It was unbelievable that Billy, with his marksmanship, hadn't hit a single shot at such close range.

If you don't hit its vital points, hitting its hard shell is like scratching an itch.

After emptying a magazine, there wasn't even a scratch. Billy couldn't help but curse, "What kind of monster is this? How can it have such a hard shell? Marcus is such a nuisance."

While Billy and his team were changing magazines, the mutated giant scorpion launched its attack. Billy, standing at the front, naturally bore the brunt of the attack. The giant pincers were raised high, baring its fangs and claws, as if it wanted to tear Billy to pieces.

Billy moved with surprising agility, darting into a corner before the giant pincers could strike. A loud bang followed, and a large hole was smashed into the ground.

Zhang Zhongyi observed closely from the side. The floor had been riddled with bullets from an M16 rifle. Zhang Zhongyi's furious smashing and the mutated giant scorpion's heavy blows had rendered it extremely fragile; a single step on it could cause it to collapse.

This mutated giant scorpion wasn't about to let Billy go. It had attacked with its right pincer earlier, and now its left pincer was following up, attacking Billy from the other side. The carriage wasn't very big to begin with, and this creature had already taken up half of the space. The other half had two holes and some broken tables and chairs, leaving Billy with very little room to dodge. With its two giant pincers attacking from both sides, Billy's situation was really bad.

Although Billy was a serious criminal, he was now on the same side as Zhang Zhongyi. Jill and Rebecca, the police officers, were not idle either. They took the opportunity to change their magazines and continued to shoot at the mutated giant scorpion.

The mutated giant scorpion was intent on tearing Billy to shreds, but the bullets were aimed directly at its eyes. Though clumsy and seemingly unintelligent, the beast was actually quite capable and likely knew its eyes were its vitals and needed protection. It retracted its left pincer to shield its eyes, while its right pincer swung towards Rebecca and Jill.
