Liu Chendong's expression turned serious as he said, "Yes... right now, what I hope most is that that thing doesn't happen."

Alice asked in confusion, "What could possibly concern you so much?"

His expression grew more worried and complicated. Liu Chendong could only reply, "What I'm most worried about is what happened in your previous job, since it's only 2 kilometers away from Raccoon City."

Alice instantly lost her composure. She knew very well what was being experimented with in that laboratory. Sometimes, when the laboratory staff couldn't handle them, she and Spencer would go over and deal with these "unmanageable" creatures themselves. The first time she faced these creatures, she was almost bitten by them. Spencer was there to save her by blowing his head off, preventing her from ending up like "them." After that, she dared not be careless in the subsequent encounters and instead dealt with "them" cleanly and quickly.

Chapter 778 Collision of Parallel Universes (8)

By noon, the sun was already high in the sky above the city. In the villa area on the outskirts of Raccoon City, some people took out hoses and connected them to faucets to prevent their lawns from drying out in the sun, spraying streams of water. Just as they were enjoying the coolness, figures appeared on the distant horizon. Because these figures looked very much like humans, the people did not feel anything was wrong. Although there were many of them, they were used to peaceful lives and did not know that a crisis that could overturn their lives was approaching.

As these massive figures approached the first person, who was still a student with her back to "them," the first corruptor bit her neck. The student felt a sharp pain in her neck, and blood gushed out instantly from her neck—yes, a large amount of bright red blood. She was quickly overwhelmed by the corruptors that followed, without even having time to scream.

Those around witnessed the bloody scene and stared in disbelief at the process. Suddenly, it was like a pot boiling over, and everyone scattered and ran away. Some ran back to their homes and closed their doors and windows, while others didn't even dare to go home. Those without cars started running towards the city center, while those with cars jumped into the driver's seat, stepped on the gas, and sped off towards the city center.

A fleet of cars with flashing lights, filled with fully armed personnel, sped off from the city police station, heading towards the outer ring villa district, a high-crime area at the time.

The police force that rushed to the scene consisted of 16 vehicles, each fully equipped with 5 officers, representing one-third of Raccoon City's regular police force. Each officer carried a 9mm Colt revolver with a 6-round capacity, firing high-powered Magnum ammunition, featuring a thickened barrel and a fixed rear sight. In addition, each vehicle was also equipped with a Remington 11-87 small-caliber shotgun with a basic capacity of 8 rounds, which could be increased to 10 rounds depending on the type of ammunition used. A police helicopter equipped with a suspension system and carrying an LSAT light machine gun followed in the sky, monitoring the development of the incident in real time.

As this group of police officers drove along Eighth Avenue, which leads to the outer ring villa district, they saw a steady stream of high-end civilian vehicles and panicked crowds evacuating to the city center. Traffic was already severely congested, and everyone's face was filled with fear and anxiety. Many people were covered in blood, and some were even covered in wounds. After nearly twenty minutes, the police force finally arrived at the outer ring villa district, where a series of horrific scenes were unfolding. It would not be an exaggeration to call it a living hell.

Many of the vehicles involved in the accidents still had people trying to survive inside, but they were surrounded by at least 4.5 Corruptors, creating a rather comical scene where people couldn't get out and the Corruptors couldn't get in, resulting in a stalemate.

On a bus, a scene unfolded as the driver, having been bitten by the Corruptors, became one of them. Dozens of living people were forced into a corner at the back by a few Corruptors, each watching helplessly as those in front were torn apart alive. Those bitten quickly mutated and joined the feast. The cries of children, the screams of adults, and the cries for help of young people filled the entire bus, but soon it fell silent.

The raging flames from the burning vehicle clung to some of the Corruptors, but they seemed oblivious to pain, continuing their hunt until the fire completely consumed their bodies and brains, at which point they finally collapsed to the ground.

It wasn't until a gunshot rang out and the nearest Corruptor was blown off its head that the group snapped back to reality. It turned out that it was Leon Kennedy, who had just arrived that day, who had fired the shot. His eyes were filled with decisiveness, a ruthless decisiveness. Then one of the group issued an order: prioritize rescuing the survivors, then eliminate these humanoid monsters. Once the survivors have been rescued, immediately retreat to the city center. There are too many of these monsters, and the bullets and personnel we have are not enough to eliminate them.

Just as the chief finished issuing the orders and everyone began to move out, a news broadcast van pulled up next to the police car, and two people got out: one was Erin, the most famous female anchor in Raccoon City, and the other was her assistant, Andrew.

Just like everyone else before them, Eileen and Andrew were stunned for a long time upon seeing the scene. However, with their excellent professionalism, they reacted quickly. Eileen turned her back to the camera, while Andrew carried the camera and pointed it at Eileen, starting a live broadcast.

Then, dressed in an orange short-sleeved shirt and beige trousers, her figure was highlighted, and she appeared in front of the television viewers watching the live broadcast.

Eileen: "Hello everyone, this is Eileen bringing you a live report. Starting from noon today, many people have called the city police department to report that they have been attacked by unidentified humanoid monsters in the outer ring villa area. Some of those who were bitten or scratched have even started attacking their own family and friends, just like these monsters. The situation on the scene is very chaotic, but city personnel have begun rescue and cleanup work in the area. Let's turn our camera to the people working there."

The camera focused on a man with blond, side-swept bangs who had just taken off his police uniform, revealing a black, tight-fitting vest that showed off his strong upper body muscles. He was vigorously firing at the Corruptors in front of him with his Colt revolver, headshot after headshot. Even while reloading, he didn't forget to engage in a skillful close-quarters combat. Then the camera returned to Eileen.

Eileen remarked, "We're incredibly lucky to have witnessed such courageous actions from our elite personnel. This has put our minds at ease, and I'm sure viewers watching the live broadcast on television will feel much less anxious."

Leon Kennedy was extremely frustrated. "I'm fighting these monsters to the death here, and you, the streamer, are still laughing and broadcasting? Can't you see how many monsters there are? I've been killing them for ages, and there are still so many left!" Meanwhile, the other members were also fighting valiantly, but none of them possessed Leon's skills. They were already suffering casualties; over a dozen team members had been infected by the Corruptors and were now part of the group. Most of these casualties stemmed from their inability to focus on caring for the wounded civilians, allowing the Corruptors to ambush them from the shadows.

Chapter 779 Collision of Parallel Universes (9)

Or they might be unexpectedly bitten or scratched by infected and mutated residents, or even have to fight seven or eight Corruptors simultaneously to rescue just one resident. Just when the rescue reached a stalemate, several shadowy figures suddenly rushed out, instantly tearing open the body of a policeman who was supporting an injured resident, his internal organs spilling out onto the ground. Yet, without lingering, they continued rushing towards the next target. In just that short time, nearly thirty policemen died, and then, unsurprisingly, "resurrected" and joined the ranks of the Corruptors.

Seeing this, Lyon grabbed a Remington 11-87 small-caliber shotgun for cover while shouting, "Stop the rescue! Get to the police car immediately, or you'll all die here!"

When everyone gathered around the car, they found that there were fewer than thirty people left, compared to eighty when they arrived. Only then did they realize that the shadowy figures were actually incredibly fast, clawed crawlers – the formidable Lickers. The rescue was forced to be abandoned; light weapons were ineffective against the Lickers, and those with poor aim simply couldn't hit them. Just as the Lickers were about to attack again, the helicopter finally opened fire with its LSAT light machine guns, equipped with suspension systems, preventing them from advancing. Seeing this, everyone immediately boarded the police cars, including the rescued residents, and sped out of the villa area, back to the city center. With the police cars gone, the two people from the news department dared not stay. After filming for a short time, they also drove back to the city center. The helicopter, seeing that everyone had safely evacuated, then followed them back.

The crowd remained silent in the speeding police cars. Of the original eighty fully armed officers, less than thirty were left, along with a dozen or so residents with varying degrees of injuries. A gloomy atmosphere filled the seven police cars.

When the seven police cars arrived at the central area where Eighth Avenue borders the city, the area was already in chaos. It turned out that some of the residents who had evacuated earlier had been infected and mutated when they arrived in the central area, and began to attack their friends, relatives, lovers or strangers.

Just as the police officers in the police cars were about to get out and deal with the chaos, the residents they had rescued earlier suddenly began to mutate one by one, turning around and biting the police officers next to them. Instantly, the police force of less than 30 was reduced by half, and the four police cars went out of control, rolling around or crashing into nearby shops and crowds.

Since only the four wrecked police cars had residents on board, all fourteen officers in the remaining three police cars, including Leon, survived. However, this incident served as a wake-up call for all the remaining officers: anyone bitten or scratched should be dealt with promptly, even if they are close relatives or friends, otherwise you may be the next victim.

But now everyone had no time to be sad. They quickly stopped the police car, got out, and began clearing the central area where they were. Since they had realized from the previous battle that the best way to attack these humanoid monsters was to destroy their heads, they split into three groups. Except for Leon's group, which had four people, the other two groups had five people each.

The helicopter that had been following them was also providing cover fire with LSAT light machine guns, targeting denser groups of Corruptors or weakened officers.

Lyon thought to himself, "The main roads that extend from this central area all lead to the city center. If this area is breached, the city center will be more severely affected by the infection. We can only hope that the police force in the city center can quickly deal with the few monsters that have slipped into the city center and then come to support them."

Having figured this out, Leon directed the battle around him while simultaneously communicating with the city police department via police intercom. Since the vehicle carrying the team's sheriff had been in was wrecked and he showed no signs of life, and Leon's astonishing combat prowess had convinced the other officers around him, they did not look down on him because he was a newcomer, and he had already become the captain of this small team.

Lyon: "This is the police station heading to the Eighth Avenue villa area. Lyon Kennedy is urgently calling headquarters. Please respond. Please respond."

City Police Headquarters: "This is headquarters. Lyon, please tell us the current situation of your unit."

Lyon: "When my police unit was dealing with the villa area, we discovered that it was the source of the infection. Many residents had been infected and turned into humanoid monsters. There were also some kind of fast and highly lethal crawling monsters. Four-fifths of the unit were killed or wounded, so we had no choice but to retreat. Now only me and thirteen officers are left. When we retreated to the central area where Eighth Avenue meets downtown, we found that it was also infected. In order to prevent the infection from further affecting downtown, the remaining thirteen officers and I decided to hold this central area, but we may not be able to hold out for long. Please provide support immediately."

City Police Headquarters: "Lyon, we are aware of the situation you described. You did the right thing. We are currently cleaning up the infected areas in the city center. If you hold out for two hours, the rescue team will arrive within the stipulated time. The Umbrella Corporation's special envoy, who is supported by the military, is also aware of your situation and has dispatched a special operations team from the Stars to support you. Headquarters has appointed you to handle the crisis on-site. Please hold on."

Lyon: "Lyon understands. We must hold out for two hours. Call over." After the call ended, Lyon shouted to the officers around him: "I just finished speaking with headquarters. Headquarters informed us that we must hold out for two hours. Umbrella Corporation has sent a Stars team to support us. More support will arrive in two hours. Headquarters here now appoints me to handle everything."

Upon hearing this news, all the officers were invigorated. Their movements became even more agile than before. Using 9mm Colt revolver pistols, it was difficult for any Corruptor to avoid being shot in the head. Some officers even played a game of stacking themselves on top of each other with Remington 11-87 small-caliber shotguns, slowly luring several Corruptors into a straight line. Then, with just a pull of the trigger, all the Corruptors in that line were riddled with bullets by the shotgun's extremely high close-range firepower, leaving them dismembered and their internal organs scattered everywhere. This further increased the casualties among the Corruptors, making it impossible for them to get within five meters. Leon's words were like some kind of attack buff aura in a game, greatly increasing the officers' combat effectiveness.

Chapter 780 Collision of Parallel Universes (10)

Leon joined the battle the moment the call ended. A Corruptor attempted to dart out from beside a police car while Leon was focused on firing ahead. Just as he was about to catch it, Leon suddenly executed a beautiful side turn, grabbed the Corruptor's head with both hands, and slammed it against the police car door frame. As the Corruptor lay on the ground, somewhat dazed, Leon swiftly extended his elbow and delivered a fatal blow to its head. Some officers, witnessing this graceful move, gasped in amazement, their eyes gleaming like the roar of some kind of demon, making Leon feel goosebumps all over.

The officers who witnessed this all seemed to be possessed by Leon, rubbing their hands together and disregarding how dangerous the monsters were. They unleashed the fighting skills they had learned at the police station, leaving the helicopter pilot somewhat confused: were these monsters infecting them, or were these psychopaths attacking them?

Less than ten minutes later, the Umbrella Corporation's Stars team arrived at the scene in a black, blast-resistant vehicle, and Lyon began to discuss the situation with the team leader.

When the Umbrella Corporation's Stars team arrived at the scene in a black, reinforced riot control vehicle, they found that the situation wasn't as bad as their superiors had described. They saw the police officers overwhelmingly slaughtering the monsters, using almost all their strength.

With nothing else to do, the Stars squad acted as transport, resupplying the officers with ammunition from the riot control vehicle. They then stood neatly behind their commander. When Leon saw the commander, he was surprised to find that she was a woman with black hair typical of Asians. Her hairstyle was the same as his own: short hair with side-swept bangs. Her exquisitely beautiful features seemed perfectly fitting. She wore a red jacket and tight black leather pants, which accentuated her figure like a golden ratio. This would arouse "something" in any man who saw her, making him unable to resist taking a second look. He only came back to his senses when the female commander introduced him.

Female Commander: "Hello, my name is Ada Wong, and I have just been promoted to the field commander of this STERS special operations team."

Lyon introduced himself: "Hello, my name is Lyon Kennedy, and I have just been promoted to commander of this field police force."

Ada said in a slightly mischievous tone, "Looks like we're really lucky to have both been promoted. We should congratulate each other."

Lyon shook his head helplessly and replied, "If possible, I would rather not have this kind of 'luck,' and rather none of this had happened, and I could just do my ordinary police work every day."

Ada's eyes darkened as she thought to herself, "Yes... how are my former comrades doing underground? Do you know how much I miss you? Don't worry... I won't let Spencer get away with this, I will definitely avenge everyone!!!"

Before their conversation had even ended, the news broadcast van reappeared before everyone's eyes.

Lyon felt the pressure mounting again. Why did this news broadcast van keep haunting him, offering no real help but constantly appearing?

Sure enough, the sexy blonde livestreamer, Eileen, and her partner, Andrew, slowly got out of the car with their livestreaming equipment.

Upon coming down, Andrew's eyes lit up when he saw Leon and Ada. He then quickly started a new round of live streaming after pointing the camera at them.

Erin: "Hello everyone, we had to stop the live broadcast because the outer ring villa area was already a heavily infected area. Now we have moved to the central area of Eighth Avenue, which is not far from the villa area, to conduct a new round of interviews. As you can see, the infection in the central area has been brought under control by these brave police officers. We also have the assistance of the Umbrella Corporation's Stars Special Operations Team on site."

Dennis and Alice watched the live broadcast on television, never expecting that what they had been trying to avoid would actually happen.

Dennis pondered for a moment and said, "I've made up my mind. Since this whole thing started because of my parents, I should take some responsibility. I'm going to the central area of Eighth Avenue right now."

Alice thought for a moment and said, "Since you've made your choice, I'll go with you. What kind of bodyguard are you if you don't have one?"

The two went to the armory in the garage first. After putting plenty of weapons into the car, Alice performed a beautiful reverse drift, almost causing an accident for oncoming vehicles. Amid a chorus of curses, she drove the red Lamborghini at high speed toward her destination.

Meanwhile, the biggest crisis was unfolding in the heart of the avenue. Thousands of Corrupted Ones had formed a horde, advancing at a speed of 50 meters per minute, driven by a few Lickers. The sound of thousands of Corrupted Ones walking and roaring drowned out the noise of the helicopter's rotors and engines. When the two pilots on the helicopter saw this horde, the first of its kind since the infection began, they were terrified and hurriedly reported the situation to Leon and Ada using the police radio.

After the two hung up the call, both of them looked pale and their eyes were solemn, but they had no choice but to deal with whatever came their way.

After quickly clearing the central area, the thirteen police officers drove all the police cars and any other cars that could still be started onto Eighth Avenue to block the intersection. They then split into several groups and retreated in sequence. They also placed one or two gasoline cans next to each group of vehicles they blocked. Whenever they abandoned a defensive line, they would shoot at the gasoline cans to temporarily hinder and kill the zombie horde. Meanwhile, half of the STARS team members were used for ground support, while the other half, whose members had better marksmanship, used Barrett M82A1 sniper rifles and MK11 7.62mm semi-automatic sniper rifles to occupy high ground in nearby residential buildings for precise firing. Once the target entered the defensive zone, the helicopters would prioritize aerial strafing to create a certain number of zombie piles to slow down the advance and relieve pressure.

After all preparations were completed, everyone took their weapons and aimed them at the entrance to the main road, quietly awaiting the impending life-or-death battle.

Soon, the figures of the Corruptors could be vaguely seen at the entrance of the main road in the distance. To be precise, they were rows of dense figures, and they had just moved about 100 meters away.

Chapter 781 Collision of Parallel Universes (11)

The LSAT light machine guns suspended on the helicopter were the first to unleash their fire at the Corruptors, and countless Corruptors fell in droves. Those behind continued to follow, or simply trampled over the corpses of their own kind. Some who were not hit in the head or whose spines were not broken began to slowly stand up and crawl forward on their bare hands.

When they reached a distance of 50 meters, the police and Stars personnel at the first line of defense opened fire. However, their firepower was far inferior to that of the helicopters. They could almost feel the Corruptors' unwavering determination. Just a few minutes later, the first line of defense collapsed. Many Corruptors began to climb onto the car's edge, attempting what they thought was a "cool" somersault, only to fall heavily to the ground. They then scrambled to their feet and desperately lunged at the humans around them. After losing four police officers and seven Stars team members, the remaining personnel hastily retreated to the second line of defense. During their retreat, they fired at the gasoline cans they had previously placed. The gasoline cans, along with several cars, sent all the Corruptors in the vicinity flying into the air. They believed that God would forgive them for their "devout" actions.

The rising flames engulfed the surrounding area within a 10-meter radius, forcing any remaining Corruptors to tread on the inferno. By the time they emerged from the inferno, they were completely burned beyond recognition, and the stench of burnt flesh filled the air.

But the corrupted beings, now transformed into fire-breathing beings, still refused to give up, each wanting to taste the flavor of "humans" before their death, unaware that they too were human in their previous lives.

When they reached a distance of 30 meters, the Stars team members in the residential building began to fire wildly at the Corruptors emerging from the sea of fire, one after another getting their heads blown off. But just as they were immersed in this carnage, the Lickers began to quietly sneak up into the residential building. The environment in the stairwell increased their combat effectiveness by more than one or two levels, because there was plenty of cover, allowing them to come and go without a trace. In less than a minute, the residential building became extremely quiet, with all sorts of corpses and mutilated limbs filling the stairwell and rooms.

Leon and Ada could no longer sit still. Just as the Stars team members in the residential building were being eliminated, the second line of defense was also on the verge of falling. The flames had long since died out, and a large number of Corruptors were rushing up one after another. Helpless, they had to retreat to the last line of defense again. Although they had eliminated about seven or eight hundred Corruptors in front, there were still too many of them, with nearly three thousand left.

Just as Leon and Ada were fighting fiercely with their guns, a red Lamborghini sped out from the other side of the avenue. "Help!!! Don't come any closer...don't come any closer!" A nearby Corruptor was mercilessly tackled to the ground, quickly losing its voice, and soon after, it too became one of its kind. Such sights and sounds were commonplace on the streets of Raccoon City.

Countless humans surged through the streets like a tidal wave, rushing towards the city hall and police station, hoping the police and government could stop the monsters. Behind them were countless humanoid monsters, what they called "zombies" or "living dead," slowly chasing after the panicked humans. All sorts of vehicles were parked and wrecked everywhere. In the high-rise buildings, survivors could be seen opening windows and calling for help, desperately hoping that the government, the police, or someone else could rescue them. But all of this seemed so futile. Before long, most of them were either thrown out of the windows by the corrupted creatures and fell to their deaths, or they grabbed anything they could use as a weapon and rushed forward. A small group of people could only lock themselves in their temporary survival rooms, either in a daze or stubbornly clinging to their last hope.

Police cars, riot control vehicles, Umbrella Corporation's UBCS mercenaries, and STS emergency response teams all converged at the crossroads in downtown Raccoon City, busily setting up various obstacles, contact detonators, and man-portable mines around the area. Meanwhile, another group of UBCS mercenaries, transported by Umbrella helicopters, cleared and occupied the rooftops of nearby high-rise buildings, where there were even more snipers and observers. These hundreds of people were doing their best to prevent this disaster.

They had now moved to Umbrella's headquarters outside the city, next to the army's forward command post, and were observing the situation in Raccoon City through various computers on the table in front of them and video cameras in the streets and alleys.

Evan, the CEO of the Umbrella Corporation branch in Raccoon City, was watching everything unfolding on his computer screen intently. He was now filled with utter hatred for Spencer, who had injected him with a large dose of the "T-virus," causing a mutation that preserved a portion of human intelligence. Unlike others who were completely controlled by the "T-virus" and turned into ordinary zombies, Spencer had even broken out of the laboratory and infected the humans in Raccoon City, leading to a large-scale outbreak. As the CEO of the branch, he had no choice but to dispatch a large number of UBCs and STARs to suppress and control the infection.

But his thoughts and depressed mood were quickly changed from sadness to joy in the next minute.

The phone rang, and Evan picked it up: "Hello... this is Evan."

The voice of Edward, the highest-ranking director of Umbrella, came from the other end of the phone: "Evan... this is Edward. I have an important mission for you. Immediately evacuate all idle UBCs and STERS units. Do not send any more to downtown Raccoon City. Retreat to the outer walls to assist in the defense. Then, analyze and record all infection situations in Raccoon City via computers."

Evan replied, "I understand the mission, but should we also withdraw the UBCS and .STARS units that are currently on a mission? They are important 'assets' of the company."

After listening, Edward said with a resolute and cold tone, "I think they don't need to come back. Give us more time to record the experimental data. Once all the necessary information is collected, we'll begin the 'disinfection' process." He then hung up the phone. Evan felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead. If he were still the same as before, just a lowly commander in the STERS unit...

Chapter 782 Collision of Parallel Universes (12)

I guess I won't know how I died for a long time. That shout of "disinfection" really scared me.

Back home, Liu Chendong and Alice were leisurely drinking beverages and eating snacks, watching the TV broadcast the latest news about the infection. The windows and doors had been firmly secured by the two of them, and a sheet stained with black paint was pasted on the window to prevent the corrosives outside from observing them through the window. Why didn't the two continue to assist others? Because after assisting Eighth Avenue.

Liu Chendong realized that his power couldn't change the occurrence and worsening of the situation. He just wanted a chance to find his parents and understand the root cause of this large-scale infection. Alice's thoughts were even simpler. She would do whatever Liu Chendong did, and she didn't care about anyone else. She had always been a cold person. In the past, even if she was offered a lot of commission, she wouldn't have done it. But now she was finding that their relationship was "not bad".

It was already dusk, and the distant horizon was gradually being shrouded in darkness, as if hell were approaching.

At this moment, at the intersection in the city center, apart from the direction of retreating back to the city police station which was temporarily safe, the other three directions were firmly aimed at by hundreds of men who were waiting in ambush.

Not long after, countless "zombies" or "living dead" did not disappoint the hundreds of people, and they walked step by step from the three intersections.

Upon seeing this number, everyone felt uneasy and anxious, all thinking the same thing: "Can we hold on?"

Snipers and spotters on the surrounding rooftops launched the first attack. Some of the faster and stronger Corruptors were the first to be shot in the head, as they had been proven to be more effective than other Corruptors through a day of combat experience. However, these "outstanding" Corruptors seemed to be endless. As soon as the front row was eliminated, more would appear from behind. Once one group was eliminated, another would appear from the other. When the horde reached the optimal firing range, they began to relentlessly spew fire from their hands. Row after row of Corruptors fell. Those who were not quite dead were trampled underfoot by their brethren behind them, only able to let out low growls to express their grievances.

Soon, the Corruptors that approached the group first were blown to pieces by the pre-planted man-portable mines and touch-activated detonators. Even though they were blown to pieces and flying everywhere, as long as their heads were intact, they continued to advance, singing all the way. But humans couldn't bear such a sight. Even though most of them had experienced many battles before, in this era of peace that had lasted for so long, many people couldn't help but vomit up everything they had in their stomachs when faced with such a bloody scene.

With the firepower reduced, the Corruptors became even more frenzied, their movement speed increasing to varying degrees. The human troops began to suffer casualties—or rather, their casualties increased dramatically. The front-line troops were relentlessly torn apart by the Corruptors. The human troops gradually lost their initial unity. One, two, three, and eventually countless people began to turn tail and run, or grab parked vehicles and retreat. Once they started running, those who hadn't fled initially were even less likely to be stopped. Those who were slower retreated towards the surrounding high-rise buildings or shops, trying to wait for the horde to leave before making any further plans.

But after they were defeated, the horde of zombies moved as if they were in an empty land, and began to truly occupy Raccoon City.

SOS! SOS! This is UBCS 4th Sniper Squad. The ground forces have retreated from the city center intersection. We are now holding the roof of Building F. They are about to breach the roof gate. Please send a helicopter for rescue immediately.
