“Mr. Bill.” The colonel took a box of cigars from his drawer. “Want one?” Bill took a medium-sized cigar and started smoking. “Thank you, I haven’t had a cigar in a long time.” Colonel Mike also lit his cigar and took a deep drag. “Where did you escape from?” the colonel asked.
“New York City.” Bill slowly exhaled the smoke from his mouth. “New York City,” Bill added. “That’s far away. It must be quite a journey…” The colonel fell silent. “Colonel,” Bill said, looking at the colonel’s grave expression. “You didn’t invite me here so late just for a smoke and a chat, did you?” “…” The colonel was silent for a moment. “Looks like I still don’t beat around the bush. It’s like this, Mr. Bill.” The colonel straightened up. “Have you been bitten by infected individuals or T-virus creatures, or had any other contact with them?”
“It must be congenital or genetic, right?” the colonel muttered to himself. “What is it?” Bill asked. “Mr. Bill,” the colonel stood up, “our medical examination revealed a substance in your body that provides immunity against the virus in this crisis. So…”
Before the colonel could finish speaking, someone pushed the door open and entered. It was Dr. Jack. "So, we would like to ask Mr. Bill to cooperate with us in developing a vaccine for this virus," Dr. Jack said, looking at the colonel. "Colonel, please forgive me for entering without permission, but I feel it is necessary for me, as the one in charge of this operation, to ask these questions personally."
“That’s true.” Colonel Staples didn’t blame Dr. Jack. “Then, Dr. Jack, you go ahead.” Dr. Jack walked over to Bill and said, “Mr. Bill, it’s exactly what the Colonel just mentioned. We’d like your cooperation on this operation. We’ve codenamed it ‘Windcatcher.’ This operation is top secret; only you, me, and Colonel Staples know about it. Please keep it a secret as well.” “So, what do you need me to do?” Bill asked.
“Cooperate with our research.” Dr. Jack paused. “You might need to restrict your movements a bit.” “You’re going to lock me up?” Bill said calmly. “No, no, no,” Colonel Staples explained. “We just don’t want anything to happen to you during the vaccine development process. I swear on my honor that once the vaccine is successfully developed, you will be free again. You used to be a member of Umbrella Corporation; the people from that company are all in good physical condition.”
“…” Bill sighed. He knew the importance of the vaccine, and he also knew that this was someone else's territory. If he didn't agree, there was nothing he could do, and it might also implicate his companions, because at least it was safe here, and he didn't have to worry about those monsters every day. “Sigh… okay, I agree.”
“Thank you for your cooperation, Mr. Bill! If we can save those survivors still suffering in this world, you will be even more important than those superheroes.” Colonel Staples seemed very excited. He stood at attention and saluted Bill. “Thank you. I will do my best to fulfill any requests you may have.” “Alright… Bill, put out your cigar.” I want to say goodbye to my friends. “Yes, it’s good to tell them not to worry about you, but please keep it a secret. Just say you’re here as an advisor.” Colonel Staples thought for a moment and said, “Yes, it’s good to tell them. Tell them not to worry about you, but please keep it a secret. Just say you’re here as an advisor.”
“Okay…” Bill nodded. “It’s too late today, let’s go tomorrow morning. I’ll let you go see your room first…”
The next day, the rain intensified, and the sky turned pitch black. Suddenly, something resembling a rope wrapped around the sentry's neck on the defensive tower, forcefully pulling him backward. It seemed to be trying to drag him into the midst of the bio-weapons and infected.
"What is that thing?!" Mike's heart skipped a beat. But seeing the approaching footsteps of the infected and the bioweapons, Mike hardened his heart and said to the group, "Let's keep going!" However, without the bombs to buy time, the group's marching speed was much slower than that of the monsters.
“Sir!” a seriously wounded soldier said. “Sir, don’t worry about us. If this continues, none of us will make it!” “No!” Mike said firmly.
"We've been bitten too. It's no use you saving us; we'll still turn into those monsters. We might as well buy time for those monsters so you can leave first!"
Chapter 659 A Stormy Night [2]
"For everyone's sake, we must make sacrifices. Even if we manage to escape, we'll become infected ourselves. It's better to kill more monsters than attack our own brothers!" With that, he limped forward, leading the heavily wounded towards the infected and the countless hunters. Then, the sound of grenades exploding filled the air…
"..." Mike looked at his brothers, with whom he had spent every day, sacrificing themselves to protect them. He knew his mission was not yet complete; he had not yet led these people out of danger. "Let's go!" Mike said.
Inside a makeshift command post at a very luxurious resort… a radio on the table in the command tent is constantly blaring: “This is the squad. We’re surrounded on a small hill 2 kilometers north of our designated location. We’re about to be overwhelmed. Requesting backup! Repeat…”
The two people in the command post sat silently in their seats. Suddenly, one of them stood up and said, "I have to go save those children."
"Chief of Staff, what are you going to do to save them?" the colonel asked, looking up. "I don't have any extra troops to support them. Right now, I have to clear the infected people from this resort. If we really want to save them, it'll be at least half an hour." "How can they possibly hold out for another half hour?" The chief of staff sighed, picked up his helmet from the table, and put it on. "I'm a soldier too!" he said, then picked up his weapon, took his two guards, and got into the armored vehicle. He left the colonel alone in the command post, smoking.
Just as the chief of staff was about to leave the tent, the colonel called out to him, "Nick." The chief of staff turned around and saw something flying towards him.
"Here, take this. But I hope you come back safe and sound and return it to me," the colonel said. The chief of staff looked at the item the colonel had given him and smiled. "That depends on whether those monsters are hungry."
At this moment, on the makeshift position, a soldier looked at the stagnant infected and various zombies and said to his brothers beside him, "Guys, it looks like they're not coming to rescue us. But if those monsters dare to come up, we'll let them taste bullets. Remember, carry a grenade! Because nobody wants to be food for those monsters!"
Just as the monsters were about to charge, an armored vehicle with its headlights on sped up. "Sir, look!" a soldier exclaimed excitedly, pointing at the armored vehicle. "Brothers! They're here to rescue us! Let's all brace ourselves and rush out to meet them! Remember, be fast! And don't look back!" With that, Mike led his men out towards the armored vehicle. His gun barrels were already red-hot, but Mike showed no sign of stopping; this was a race against death.
As they approached the armored vehicle, infected and hunters surrounded them from all sides, trapping them in the middle. "Damn it! We're surrounded!" Mike yelled angrily. Just then, three people jumped out of the armored vehicle and rushed towards Mike and his companions. "Quick, get in the armored vehicle and you'll be safe!" the chief of staff said.
"Sir, it's you here?" Mike said with some surprise. "Hehe, kid, aren't you happy to see me?" "Welcome! Of course you're welcome!" Mike then saluted the chief of staff.
"Bang!" The chief of staff fired a shot behind Mike, and a hunter fell half a meter away from Mike. Knowing the danger, he had also prepared armor-piercing rounds.
"This isn't the place to chat!" Let's get out of here first. "Yes, sir!" Mike said to the last few soldiers behind him. "Let's get in the armored vehicle!" "Go!" the chief of staff said to the driver. "Yes, sir." The man quickly started the armored vehicle and sped towards the camp, but because the road was bad, the armored vehicle wasn't going very fast. It looked like the infected were about to surround them... "Damn it! If we get surrounded, we're in big trouble!" the driver said. "Are we going to die here?" a soldier said.
“…No…we won’t die,” the chief of staff said. “This was given to me by the colonel when I came out. I didn’t think I’d need it.” With that, the chief of staff took out a radio that looked like a mobile phone.
"It's just the radio the colonel uses to give orders to our regiment's self-supplied helicopter squadron," the chief of staff said with a smile. "The colonel lent me his prized helicopter." Just as the infected and the bioweapon were only 20 meters from the armored vehicle, an Apache attack helicopter flew over the vehicle and opened fire on the infected behind it. Thumb-sized machine gun bullets instantly lashed out like whips, scattering them from the sky like rain.
Just when everyone thought everything was over, something unexpected happened. The ground began to shake violently, and before anyone knew what was happening, a huge boulder flew up from the ground, heading straight for the Apache helicopter. "Bang!" The Apache was caught off guard and struck by the boulder. The helicopter stalled and circled in the air before crashing into the surging tide of infected.
"What's going on?!" The atmosphere inside the vehicle tensed instantly. Before anyone could figure out what was happening, another large rock, 5 meters in diameter, fell from the sky and slammed directly onto the armored vehicle. "Boom!" Such a massive rock hitting the armored vehicle was comparable to being hit by an artillery shell; the enormous impact dented the vehicle and overturned it.
"What happened?!" Mike unbuckled his seatbelt and found that the car had reversed, and almost everyone inside was dead.
"Uh... um... child..." the chief of staff said tremulously. "I think it's not going to make it... this thing pierced my lung..." The chief of staff looked at the huge armor plate on his chest.
Mike climbed out of the car, staring at the dark mass of infected, a two-meter-tall tank, and a swarm of hunters... He pulled out his pistol... and pointed it at his temple. "Boom!" A massive explosion erupted beside Mike. A half-meter-diameter hole was blasted into the chest of the two-meter-tall infected, and it collapsed to the ground. Mike opened his eyes and saw an Apache attack helicopter fly overhead, followed by soldiers behind him firing at the infected...
"Alright, tell me your name," Francis said, his arms crossed over his chest, sounding rather impatient.
“Y-you…hello, my name is Tim,” a thin boy said softly. His thin frame looked like the result of long-term malnutrition. Looking at Francis's muscular physique and the imposing tattoos covering his body, the boy trembled with fear, as if he were seeing a bandit leader, and dared not utter a single word. “Tim?” Francis frowned. “You little brat, you actually managed to switch our old man.”
Chapter 660 A Stormy Night [3]
Francis said with a stern face. "Isn't this exactly what you wanted?" Louis chimed in. "Didn't you complain every day that the old man was too controlling? Now that he's gone, you'll be free." "Hmph, but if anything happens, that old man is more useful than this little brat," Francis said dismissively. The trees in the human resistance camp rustled in the wind, their branches swaying and dancing like ghosts on the cold concrete, echoing the camp lights.
"Damn!" A man's figure appeared at the end of the street. "Why did I have to get involved in this?" "If it wasn't you, then who was it, Francis?" a woman's voice rang out. "What you said was really hurtful." "Yes, yes, yes," Francis said helplessly. The two walked quietly down the deserted street, an environment that felt both familiar and frightening to him. "Speaking of which," Francis began, "why aren't there any soldiers patrolling today?"
Zoe looked around at the silence, as if sensing something. "I wonder, maybe they're changing shifts. It's not surprising there's no one here." "Is that so?" Francis shrugged. "Tim," Zoe called Tim's name, but for some reason her voice was so weak, the sound just lingering in her throat, perhaps instinctively.
“Shout louder, I can’t even hear you at that voice,” Francis mocked. “Weren’t you quite loud when you were cursing at me and Louis?”
“Mind your own business!” Zoe felt as if she had suddenly been insulted by Francis, which infuriated her. She took a deep breath and screamed, “Tim!” “Oh. That was pretty good.” Francis covered his ears and gave Zoe a thumbs-up, his face flushed. “Who?” Zoe suddenly turned around, pulled out her handgun, and pointed it into the dark alley between the two houses. “Hmm,” Francis frowned. “Click.” A crisp sound of a gun being cocked rang out. Francis raised his gun and pointed it into the alley. “I’ll count to three. If you don’t come out by then, I swear I’ll turn you into a hornet’s nest.”
"One!" Francis shouted. "Two!" Francis placed his finger on the trigger and slowly applied pressure. "Three!" Francis yelled. Suddenly, just as Francis was about to fire, a dark figure slowly emerged from the alley. "How boring, you guys always find out." The person seemed quite annoyed. Everyone looked closely and saw a familiar figure holding a Woods submachine gun. "Louis, didn't you say you weren't coming?" Francis asked. "Tch, who knew you two weren't using this as an excuse for a date?" Louis said smugly. "By the way, Francis, why did you bring someone with such a scary thing?" Louis pointed to the gun in Francis's hand. "Tch. What's so strange about it? I even sleep with it," Francis said, raising his hand.
Just as Francis was about to give Louis a piece of his mind, Zoe stopped them. "Quiet down, listen carefully," Zoe put her hand to her mouth in a shushing gesture. "Listen to what?" Francis asked. "It sounds like...it sounds like a child is crying," Louis said.
“It’s Tim,” Zoe said with a smile. “Finally found him.”
"It's his turn." Zoe said, laughing, and ran towards the source of the sound. From a deep, dark alley, a faint voice drifted out. "Waaah," the sound was exactly like a child's sobbing. Zoe stood at the entrance of the alley, gazing into its depths. An instinctive feeling told her not to go any further.
“Tim!” Zoe called out. “Tim, I’m here to save you.” Zoe turned on the tactical flashlight on her pistol. Guided by this small beam of light, Zoe slowly made her way forward. “Are you sure you want to go in?” Francis grabbed Zoe’s hand and asked. “Yes, this is a survivor camp, it’ll be safe,” Zoe said with a smile. But her smile seemed so unnatural.
“It’s safe here.” Zoe kept repeating this phrase, as if trying to give herself the courage to go deeper. “Waaah…” The sobbing grew closer. It seemed so close, yet Zoe still couldn’t find it. Suddenly, Zoe’s flashlight shone on something, and the figure of a small child slowly appeared in Zoe’s sight. “Tim,” Zoe said with a smile. “Finally found you.” Zoe slowly walked over, but suddenly, she realized something was wrong. “You are…” Zoe slowly raised her flashlight.
Suddenly, the child jerked his head up, revealing a pair of blood-red eyes to Zoe. "This...this is a special infected that Umbrella Corporation listed before!" Zoe's nerves immediately kicked in, and she ran backwards while shouting, "Infected! Infected! Watch out for the zombies around!"
The infected man stood up and chased after Zoe at a speed far exceeding that of a normal person. Zoe glanced back and saw that the infected man had sharp, blade-like nails, and his hands were already inches from her back. Just as those terrifying hands were about to touch Zoe, a deafening explosion rang out. "Boom!" Francis fired, and a dozen bullets, trailing flames, hurtled towards the pursuing infected man.
With a tremendous thud, the infected was sent flying backward, landing motionless on the ground. Zoe rushed to Francis's side, terrified, her body trembling. "How did an infected get here, and in such a dangerous way?" Zoe asked, bewildered.
“How should I know?” Francis said. “That thing isn’t dead yet, you guys go and take care of it.”
"Hmm," Zoe slowly walked to the infected man's side. His body was mangled from the earlier gunshot, but he wasn't dead yet, just struggling on the ground. Zoe raised her pistol and aimed it at his head.
“That’s true,” Zoe sighed. She put her pistol away. “Let’s go to the human resistance camp.” The three of them strolled slowly down the deserted street. Unconsciously, they gradually picked up the pace, eventually running. It was clear that their moods were slowly changing.
The three exchanged a knowing glance, nodded slightly, and then quickly slipped into the passageway of a building. A series of low, rumbling roars slowly drifted from the other side of the street. To be continued.
Chapter 661 A Stormy Night [4]
"What's this?" Zoe whispered. Under the pale moonlight, the five figures appeared unsteady, lacking the usual imposing presence of American soldiers. Perhaps due to the moonlight, their faces were deathly pale. "They're infected," Francis whispered. "What do we do?" Zoe asked. "Click...crack..." Francis didn't say anything, silently cocking his pistol. "I'll draw their attention, you guys take them out," Francis whispered. "..." Zoe patted Francis's shoulder and nodded slightly, as if to warn him to be careful. "One." Francis held up one finger. "Two." "Three!" Just as they were about to rush out, a voice pierced the darkness from the street corner.
“Wait.” Francis gestured for them to hold their positions. They silently searched the direction from which the sound was coming. “Help! Someone help me!” A boy’s hurried and anxious voice reached their ears. “Roar…roar…roar…” The five infected men in US military uniforms seemed to be summoned by the sound and rushed towards its source. “It’s Tim!” Zoe grabbed Francis’s shoulder tightly, her eyes filled with worry. “We should go help him.” Zoe whispered. “…Looks like he’s attracted all the infected.” Louis joked. “Let’s go.” Francis picked up his dagger. “Let’s go save this poor kid.” A breeze brushed against their faces. The temperature wasn’t actually that cold, but it felt particularly chilly on their skin.
"Help... Someone help me..." Tim cried out as he ran. But the long run had exhausted his strength; it was indeed the limit for this young boy. "Help..." Tim's footsteps slowed. Three infected were still chasing him from behind, but five infected dressed in US military uniforms rushed in front of him. Tim stopped, surrounded and attacked from all sides, sinking into utter despair.
"Catherine," Tim murmured to himself, gazing at the starry sky above. The moon remained silently watching over everything happening on Earth. "My mission is complete. You must live on," Tim whispered, then slowly closed his eyes.
Zombies and special bio-weapons were almost upon them, their狰狞 faces projecting a sinister terror through their cold bodies. "Bang...bang..." Two sharp gunshots rang in Tim's ears, who was already filled with despair. Tim's heart tightened. He slowly opened his eyes. Francis laughed and said, "What's wrong? Lost? Want Uncle to take you home?"
Tim looked at the three people before him and felt a sudden surge of warmth wash over him. He hugged Francis tightly and cried loudly. Just as Francis was about to shout, a burst of noise came from the infected lying on the ground. "Hiss... hiss..." A sound came from the infected lying on the ground. "What is this...?" Francis frowned and asked. Zoe searched the zombie and suddenly found something. "This is... a radio?"
A voice came through the radio. "Hiss... This is command post. What was that gunfire? The patrolman? Please respond..." Francis picked up the radio. "The patrolman is dead... The situation isn't good." Perhaps startled by Francis's reply, the other end of the radio paused for a moment before responding. "Please state your identities..."
Colonel Staples looked at them and said, "When did you see those infected?" His tone was as approachable as ever, and the cigar in his hand made him look quite nice.
“Um… okay,” Louis said softly. “We found them when we came out looking for the child. But we don’t know where these things came from.” “Then…” Colonel Staples put down his cigar and said quietly, “And why are you out so late?” “We said we came to look for the child.” Francis stood up, his already short temper seemingly unable to bear the oppressive atmosphere. “Don’t you know there’s a curfew?” Colonel Staples frowned.
“But we’re looking for this child. Isn’t it too dangerous to leave him out alone at night?” Francis argued. “But you still came out during curfew,” Colonel Milk said seriously. “But…” Francis was about to argue when a soldier-looking man walked in. His expression was serious, perhaps something bad had happened. The soldier walked over to the colonel and whispered a few words in his ear. “I understand…” Colonel Staples’s face suddenly darkened. He waved his hand, signaling the soldier to leave.
“W-what’s wrong?” Francis whispered to Zoe. “Something might have happened, though I don’t know what it is, but I’m sure it’s not good,” Zoe replied softly. Colonel Staples grabbed a cigar from the table and took a deep drag. “You can go back now,” Colonel Staples said quietly, his back to Zoe and the others. “What?” Louis said with a smile. “We can go back now?”
“Do you intend to stay here any longer?” Zoe stomped hard on Louis’s foot. “Alright, then we’re leaving.” Francis said, leading his group out of the tent.
At night, however, the piercing alarms constantly assaulted people's eardrums, as if to say, "Don't ignore its presence." The main Marvel universe has little power left: only the superheroes, the S.H.I.E.L.D. military, human resistance bases in various locations, and many survivors.
"Sir! Sir!" A soldier rushed into Colonel Staples' tent, waking the colonel from his rest. Although he wasn't outwardly angry, he was somewhat displeased, but he would be more careful about the soldier's actions.
"What's wrong, soldier?" Colonel Staples asked, puzzled. "Something...something happened..." the soldier stammered, trying to calm himself down. "What happened?" Colonel Staples asked calmly. "Sir...you should come and take a look!" the soldier said earnestly, clearly indicating that this was no ordinary matter.
Chapter 662 A Stormy Night [5]
The base was mobilized. It still had most of the original Umbrella Corporation personnel, although Tang Tian and his team had left. However, it was undeniable that their strength remained formidable.
"What's wrong?" Louis asked, puzzled. "Looks like something's happened," Francis replied. "Something's happened again? Why is it always like this human resistance camp is in trouble?" "So we can get more training," Francis said, picking up a pistol that seemed unused for a long time. "Zoe! Looks like we need to go check it out." "What's wrong? Why are you so tense?" Zoe's heart tightened as she watched Francis take out his weapon. Francis tossed Zoe his pistol. "Looks like we need to go check it out."
Zoe took the pistol, glanced at Francis and Louis, and had a bad feeling. “What about Tim? We can’t just leave him home alone, can we?” “That kid?” Francis frowned. He walked over to Tim, stopped in front of him, and said, “Kid! You better stick close to me! Otherwise, I won’t look for you if you get lost!” “Okay… okay…” Tim said tremulously. “I’m really curious, let’s go!”
By this time, the soldiers in the square were in disarray. "Brothers, get all the ammunition up here!" Corporal Mike shouted, looking through his binoculars into the distance, as he directed the soldiers behind him. "Bring the heavy machine guns and tanks over here! This isn't a drill! Hurry, hurry, hurry!" If you were to look down from a helicopter over the survivor camp right now, you'd see that it was surrounded by hordes of infected. If only there were mechs, that would be something, but unfortunately, there weren't any.
"How come there are so many bio-monsters and infected!" Mike sensed that the situation was getting serious. The sight he saw through his binoculars shocked him; swarms of infected were closing in on the survivor camp from all directions.
At that moment, Colonel Staples arrived and stood next to Corporal Mike, taking his binoculars. "Looks like tens of thousands... seemingly coming from the surrounding area." The colonel clenched his fist. "Looks like they ran out of food to feed these monsters, so they came looking for us."
"Then what do we do?" Mike looked at the colonel, trying to find an answer. "What else can we do? We're surrounded. We can only fight to the death to defend the camp. But..." Colonel Staples paused.
"We have heavy weapons, and our soldiers are determined to defend the base to the death!" Mike shouted, as if to encourage the colonel and the soldiers behind him.
"It's still too few. Deploying such a limited force around such a large camp is really a bit overwhelming..." The colonel said earnestly, looking at the army of infected in the distance.
"Hmm...it seems this is the only way. Give me an order: gather almost everyone in the camp to the square, and the rest should help the army transport ammunition. This is a battle that will determine our life or death; everyone must be mobilized to fight for their own survival."
"Yes, sir!" Mike saluted the colonel, then led a few men and ran into the apartment area. The small square was now packed with people, and under the illumination of the large lighting equipment, the entire camp seemed to have returned to daytime. The army was organizing the newly arrived civilians into ranks, and the whole process was proceeding in an orderly manner. The crowd was unusually quiet, with only the army officers constantly encouraging the civilians and soldiers. Everything seemed to be playing a silent black-and-white film, as if the world had no other color besides black and white.
"Gentlemen, I am Colonel Staples..." The colonel looked at the silent crowd, who seemed devoid of any fighting spirit, and raised his voice. "As you can see, those monsters are now within our grasp. They are not here to occupy this place like armies from other countries, but to wipe out everyone here. Those standing here now have no protectors, no protected ones, only soldiers! This is a battle that will determine everyone's survival; no one can escape! We may all die today, but before we die, we will send those monsters to hell!"
After he finished speaking, thunderous applause erupted from everyone in the square, as if their fighting spirit had been instantly ignited. Civilians and soldiers alike felt an urge to rush into battle and fight. Their eyes were filled with passion and a thirst for combat. "Alright, officers, lead your teams and get into position immediately! Those monsters won't wait for you to be ready!" Colonel Staples shouted the order.
"Soldiers, we're facing a monster! They're not human, they're demons from hell. Because they don't belong to this world, our duty is to send these demons back to hell!" Corporal Mike said to the soldiers around him. "Soldiers, do you have any questions?"
Meanwhile, in a sealed room, Bill leaned against the wall, listening intently to the sounds outside. The guards at his door had disappeared earlier; they had likely been reassigned on some other order. Bill had been in this room for a long time, unsure of what he was doing or what his purpose was. But he didn't regret it, because it was a sacrifice of his own to end the disaster.
Bill was feeling rather bored. He picked up a harmonica he'd found somewhere and began to play softly. The melodious, gentle music drifted out from the crack in the window and filled the vast, utterly quiet camp. He thought about his past; they had been fighting for a long time since he'd met Wolverine.
Suddenly, a huge explosion shattered the melodious harmonica music; it was the army firing artillery. Bill stopped playing the harmonica and listened quietly.
On the artillery positions, soldiers were shouting loudly, as if encouraging themselves and others. Shells rained down on the infected, splattering blood everywhere. The soldiers cheered, as if the monsters couldn't even overcome the artillery barrier—and that was the best outcome.
On this land shrouded in darkness, people are trapped in this small human resistance camp. They are helpless; outside lurks a horde of dangerous monsters. All they can do is pick up their guns and fight back. The superheroes here are useless; Hydra's virus has taken over the world, and everything depends on them.
Chapter 663 Fortified Defense
In front of the human resistance base, amidst the roar of artillery shells, a massive army of hunters and zombies began to charge towards the camp. Tens of thousands of dangerous mutated creatures surged in like a tidal wave, their target being this small human resistance camp.
"Soldiers, fire!" Corporal Mike shouted to the soldiers around him. He raised his gun and pulled the trigger, bullets spurting through the dense crowd. "Soldiers! Let these monsters taste bullets! Give them their freedom!" Now the entire line of soldiers opened fire, emptying all the bullets in their chambers at once.
"Die! For the rest of us!" Almost without exception, they shouted this as they fired. Tanks and armored vehicles outside the camp also began to fire, and anti-aircraft machine guns on their turrets continued to fire. The speed of the tanks and Hunters was also slowed down, and they were no longer as fast as before.
