“Nate, come with me, let’s go deeper.” Cameraman John nodded, carrying his camera, and continued following presenter Shane into the West Side. After walking for a while, several personnel in protective suits appeared on screen. “There are some agents in green protective suits in the distance!”
The camera zoomed in on the direction Sannie was pointing, showing several agents collecting, moving, and burning something. Passing them, the team continued deeper into the West District. The once bustling streets were now deserted, utterly desolate. A notice fluttered in the wind: "Citizens of the West District, please stay home as much as possible. If you must go out, please wear a mask. Keep doors and windows closed, maintain a safe distance from infected individuals, and if you witness any signs of aggression, call for help immediately. Police will respond." Sannie read the notice with a puzzled expression. This was different from what they had heard from the government spokesperson. What had happened in the West District?
"There are still gunshots in the distance!" Shannie exclaimed in surprise, picking up the distant gunshots from John's camera. The Philadelphia Times' live stream website gradually gained more viewers.
Sannie ran to the back of a building and stood in the shadows watching the SWAT officers shooting in the distance. Sannie asked in confusion, "What are they shooting at?" John's camera began to zoom in on the distant "enemies"—they could no longer be called human. The cameraman John felt a nausea in his stomach and then began to vomit. This was practically a real-life version of Dawn of the Dead.
The truth, which had been kept under wraps, was leaking out with the live broadcast. When the living dead were filmed, the Philadelphia Times website was on the verge of crashing; both the website and the live stream server immediately reached their limits. Everyone wanted to know what facts the West Side was hiding. The police also took notice and began issuing orders.
Sannie wanted to watch something more when suddenly several SWAT officers turned and ran towards her. Sannie patted Nate and said, "Run!" John, forcing himself to stay alert, slung the camera over his shoulder and ran back. The SWAT officers fired warning shots, a stray bullet grazing Sannie's calf, startling her so much she immediately crouched down. The military's special police subdued the two men. The lead officer said, "Stop the live stream now and come with us! Destroy the data on the camera immediately."
As the main Marvel universe becomes increasingly dangerous, the Justice League and the Avengers have considered solutions, but unfortunately, things haven't gone as planned, and the world is developing in increasingly unpredictable ways. To be continued.

Chapter 648 The Anomaly in the Main World (9)
The nurse walked in, looked at Bill smoking a cigarette, and said, "Mr. O'Beck (Bill's last name), this is a sanatorium, smoking is not allowed here."
Bill exhaled another smoke ring and said calmly, "Young lady, you don't know what a cigarette means to a veteran who has survived the Vietnam War. Besides, I know my own condition; it might be incurable, isn't it?"
The nurse said, "Mr. O'Beck, Dr. Coulson says your condition is still treatable. You must cooperate, cooperate." Bill's cigarette glowed and dimmed again as he said, "Yes! Yes! Sir, I will cooperate."
Bill casually flicked his cigarette away; it gracefully struck the pristine white wall, leaving a grayish-black mark before falling into the trash can. The nurse looked at Bill with displeasure. Bill grinned and said, "It's time to talk to Dr. Coulson about my condition." Bill then stood up, smoothing the wrinkles in his hospital gown, his entire demeanor sharpening. If the Bill sitting on the hospital bed just moments before was a retired veteran who had seen through life and death, then the Bill standing upright now was a sharp sword ready for battle at any moment. Bill, who had once been in the world of Left 4 Dead, had reappeared, but this world was even worse than before.
In the doctor's office, Bill sat across from Dr. Coulson, listening to him describe his condition. "Mr. O'Beck," Dr. Coulson said, "you have mid-stage lung cancer. As you know, the cause is excessive smoking. You still have a good chance of being cured." Bill waved his hand, saying, "Stop talking nonsense. Tell me how much longer this old man can live." Dr. Coulson said helplessly, "With your cooperation, there's a 60% chance of recovery." Bill stood up and said, "So there's still a chance to live a few more years, right?" Dr. Coulson said, "The next step is surgery. The surgery will be on the 7th floor of Mercy Hospital the day after tomorrow, understand?" Bill looked out the window and said, "Yes, yes, I understand. To get out of this prison-like place as soon as possible."
Chains, carrying a backpack, went up to the third floor. Watching the evacuation elevator, he discreetly placed his medical kit and some emergency medications down. Houston was chatting happily with a nurse on the first floor.
A black Hummer pulled up in the darkness not far from the hospital. Dallas: "Everything's going according to plan, understand? No dragging things out, no unnecessary trouble." Wolf whistled, lightly wiping his M92F silenced pistol with a towel, and nodded to indicate he understood. Chains adjusted his headphones and replied, while Houston chewed gum, watching the people coming and going outside the car window. Dallas assumed he had received the message.
Dallas straightened his suit, making the lightweight bulletproof vest underneath as comfortable as possible, put on sterile gloves, and clipped his mask to his lower back. "Bane, stay in touch," Dallas said into his earpiece as he opened the car door. Bane's voice came through the headset: "Roger that. I will be your eyes." Four strange men in suits appeared at the hospital entrance…
Bill went to Dr. Coulson for his routine check-up today. Just as he pressed the elevator button, four strange men in suits entered. Wolf: "Guys, it feels like something's floating in the air... money!" Bain: "You're distracted, can you hear me?" Wolf: "Yes, yes, yes, run the plan."
The four people from Dallas entered the isolation room and slowly walked away under the watchful eyes of two armed guards at the entrance. A female doctor was walking around outside an isolation ward, holding a form in her hand, which looked like a patient's file. The sharp-eyed Dallas also noticed that the female doctor's name tag on the front read Erikson.
Dallas gestured for the other three to disperse and then walked up to the female doctor. Dallas said, "Hello, are you Dr. Erickson?" Mary replied, "Yes, just call me Mary. Are you new here, Dr. Dallas?"
Mary glanced at the fake ID badge Dallas was wearing around her neck, then looked up at Dallas again. Dallas smiled and said, "What's wrong, doctor? Is there something wrong with me? I'm the one who's just been transferred to the isolation room."
Mary bowed slightly apologetically and said, "It's alright. Dr. Dallas, how can I help you?" Dallas looked around the isolation ward and asked, "Excuse me, what illnesses are these patients infected with?"
Dr. Mary said with a slight headache, "These are all Phase I patients brought in by CEDAY from the West District. There are also some Phase II patients with strong aggressive tendencies. Several of our nurses have been injured." Dallas followed Mary around the wards, learning about the various infected patients.
Bain: "You need to find a patient with a tattoo on his neck named Williams, and you'll know he's the right person."
Dallas interrupted Mary's introduction, asking, "Excuse me, I wanted to ask, which ward is Williams in?" Mary looked at the patient file in her hand with suspicion and said, "That Williams?" Dallas pretended to think for a moment and replied, "He has a tattoo on his neck." Mary said, "You mean that Williams? He's in stage two and has serious aggressive intent. Why do you need him?" Dallas said, "My director needs one of his reports on T-virus and rabies." Mary said, "Okay, come with me."
Dallas pointed his gun at the hostages and said, "We don't want to hurt anyone, but if you don't cooperate, you'll end up like them."
Bill merely watched everything with a cold laugh. Although he had lost the protection of the Umbrella Corporation, it didn't mean he had no power. Although Bill served Tang Tian, he had not been infected with the T-virus.
Bain: We need two valid virus samples. If one of them fails the test, we'll send more blood from that patient. Once you've collected two valid virus samples, you can leave.
Wolf broke the isolation glass that was preventing virus-laden air from escaping and grabbed a blood-drawing device to begin his work. Suddenly, Mary said that Dallas hadn't been paying attention and ran towards the isolation front desk. Dallas immediately turned around, and the M92F's iron sights were already aimed at him.
Dallas said, "You shouldn't have done this, Mary." As Mary ran to the front desk, Dallas opened fire. The bullet hit her, but Mary managed to press the alarm button before she died.
Those people were originally Hydra members, and their orders were to worsen the situation here. After all, Umbrella Corporation had only temporarily disappeared, so they were still waiting.

Chapter 649 The Anomaly in the Main World (10)
At the police station, Officer Carlisle has been back on duty for a week. He seems to have lost a portion of his memory since the car accident, but it hasn't affected his leadership abilities within the police force. Police Operator: "Hello, how can I help you?" Doctor: "Hello, I'm a doctor at the hospital. They might be Hydra."
"I understand, the police will be there soon." The sharp yellow sirens blared over the police station as Officer Carlisle personally led a group of officers to the hospital. Meanwhile, SWAT teams were also mobilized.
Squad sniper: "I'm in position. There are no suspicious targets on the third floor; the field of vision is poor."
Squad leader: "Maintain surveillance, we're ready to move in."
Carlisle led the police in an orderly evacuation of the hospital's patients and doctors.
Bain: "Guys, we're in trouble. The SWA has surrounded the hospital."
Dallas commanded, "Set up the booby traps and sentries. We're about to get into a tough fight." Wolf and Chains grabbed their black backpacks and got ready to go, while Dallas and Houston took control of the situation.
Bain said calmly, “Okay, now continue defending until the elevator arrives. We need two virus samples. The elevator is currently stopped on the top floor. I need to activate the system and cover it up. It will take some time before the elevator reaches your floor. I said, about two minutes, if the coverage cycle can continue uninterrupted.”
Two SWAT teams ascended to the third floor via the fire escape and elevator, respectively. The moment the elevator doors opened, the sentry sensed the enemy and immediately opened fire, raining bullets down on the SWAT team. As they reached the third floor via the fire escape, the sentry also opened fire, machine gun fire splattering, instantly killing the first SWAT officer. The subsequent SWAT officers were not spared either, all falling to the ground, riddled with bullets. Only the team members who had brought up the rear via the fire escape survived. Looking at their teammates, each one was pale, but one of them remained in the stairwell to keep watch, while the other went to report the situation.
The hostages lying in the lobby looked at the death-like sentries beside them, and watched as the police officers who came to rescue them were smashed to pieces, which made them feel even more desperate.
More SWAT officers rushed into the fire escape. Suddenly, a violent explosion occurred on the fourth floor, and a floor slab fell down. A SWAT officer above the sentry fell from the fourth floor and took out tools to start demolition work.
On the other side, Dallas saw a smoke grenade fly in through the window. Smoke began to spread down the corridor. Dallas and Houston stood on opposite sides of the corridor. Crack! The sound of glass shattering rang out. Dallas and Houston drew their M92Fs and fired all the bullets in their pistols in one go. When the smoke cleared, only the bodies of several SWAT members remained.
Then, more smoke grenades were thrown into the corridor from outside. Dallas took the M4A1 carbine from Wolf, who had returned after setting things up, and Houston took the Remington 870 shotgun. Then, SWAT teams rushed in from all four sides, and the four men took turns firing, covering each other's blind spots.
A SWAT captain said to Carlisle, "Our SWAT team has suffered heavy losses and we need more reinforcements." Carlisle replied to his men, "Request the deployment of heavy SWAT teams. We are no longer dealing with ordinary bandits."
Bang! Wolf cocked his Remington 870 shotgun, a spent cartridge ejected from the chamber, and a SWAT player was killed and sent flying. Rat-a-tat-tat... Dallas's M4A1 carbine spat fire, reaping life after life. Chains crouched in a corner, changing pistol magazines, spent cartridges piled up at his feet. Houston pressed his detonator, bang! A violent explosion occurred, leaving only a pile of limbs.
Suddenly the corridor went dark.
Bain: "Damn it, they must have cut off the main power! The elevator is stopped until power is restored."
Dallas yelled, "Where the damn switch?" A volley of bullets struck the wall, kicking up dust. Wolf said, "Follow me!" Wolf ran into the darkness, Dallas barely following behind. Flashes of gunfire swung around them. Suddenly, a SWAT in heavy black armor appeared in front of Wolf. Wolf immediately raised his gun and fired, eight shots hitting the SWAT without any effect. The SWAT retaliated by slamming the butt of his rifle on Wolf, sending him flying. The SWAT fired his M4A1 carbine. The bullets grazed the wall but still struck Wolf. Dallas ran over and fired 30 rounds of his M4A1 carbine accurately at the SWAT's head. The bulletproof helmet shattered under the pressure, and the heavily armored SWAT fell. Dallas quickly turned on the switched-off switch, dragging Wolf back to the elevator to defend. Chains helped Dallas get away from Wolf and began treating his gunshot wound.
Bain: "Press the elevator button, that's it, keep the power on, let them know now that you can't be stopped..."
With the withdrawal of SWAT teams, more heavily armed SWAT teams flooded the battlefield. Sentry posts at elevators and fire exits were also removed, and usable hostages were dwindling. Dallas was now considering how to negotiate if anyone was arrested. Sentry were bearing the brunt of the firepower, but prolonged firing was causing their barrels to overheat.
Several heavily armed SWATs rushed in. Dallas decisively fired at their helmets, his M4A1 carbine pounding against their bulletproof helmets. Dallas yelled, "Damn it!" One SWAT had already charged into the group of four. Wolf was already fighting him; shotguns couldn't be used at close range. The remaining SWATs surged in. Wolf quickly disarmed the SWAT, who then kicked Wolf, making Wolf feel as if his internal organs had shifted. Chains, leaning against the wall, decisively pulled out a dagger from his calf and threw it to Wolf. A SWAT was about to punch Wolf on the head when the SWAT collapsed weakly onto Wolf. Dallas changed his magazine, watching the elevator descend to the 19th floor. The remaining SWATs were also eliminated. Then, the corridor went dark again.
Bain: "They cut the power again and took it back."
Dallas, without turning around, said, "Houston, how's that damn virus?" Houston replied, "One copy was successful, one more to go." Dallas said, "Then hurry up! Take all the data on this virus with you." Then, Chains and Dallas ran into the darkness. Bullets kept whizzing past them, and Chains cursed under his breath.
Chapter 650 The Anomaly in the Main World (11)
Suddenly, an infrared beam was aimed at Chains' chest. Dallas reacted quickly, leaping to the ground and slamming Chains to the ground. The loud bang of a sniper rifle firing echoed in the dark corridor. Dallas yelled into his headset, "Damn it! A sniper!" Chains stared nervously at the large hole in the wall behind him; without Dallas, he might be dead. The two continued forward, crouching low. Several heavily armed SWAT teams were still guarding the power switch, all armed with Remington 870 shotguns. Dallas said, "Damn it, if we go in there, we'll be riddled with bullets." Chains said, "We'll have to fire from both sides." Dallas ran to the other side of the corridor, and Chains and Dallas simultaneously fired into the doorway, the flashes illuminating the small power room. Dallas reloaded his rifle, and suddenly the Remington 870 shotgun fired, creating a hole not far above Dallas's head. Dallas cursed under his breath.
"A few more aren't quite dead yet," Chains crouched down. "One more round of focused fire!" Dallas said. The two leaned against the door and opened fire. Another magazine fell to the ground. Dallas changed magazines for his carbine. Suddenly, Chains was thrown backward. A large hole appeared where he had just been standing. "Damn it," Chains said, "I've been shot in the calf." Dallas said, "Hang in there, I'll take care of him." Dallas then rushed into the room. There was still one SWAT officer left. The SWAT officer raised his gun at Dallas, and Dallas pointed it at him as well. Dallas said to him, "Can we both put our guns down?" Dallas lowered his gun slightly first, and the SWAT officer slowly lowered his shotgun as well. Suddenly, Dallas drew an M92F from his back and fired a magazine. The SWAT officer fell into a pool of blood. Dallas pulled the switch, picked up the gun on the ground, and said to the SWAT officer's body, "Remember, you can't trust what they say, especially professionals." Dallas carried Chains on his back and ran towards the elevator.
Carlisle frowned as he watched the Mercy Hospital remain impregnable. Suddenly, a group of soldiers in green uniforms rushed in. A general approached Carlisle and said, "Carlisle?" Carlisle immediately saluted and replied, "Yes, General." The general, holding military orders, asked Carlisle, "Any objections?" Carlisle replied, "No, General." The military quickly took control of the situation, and Carlisle's heart tightened; the military had mobilized.
Dallas carried Chains back to their position in front of the elevator, and Houston began bandaging Chains' wounds. At that moment, another group of soldiers in military uniforms flooded into the corridor. Wolf, leaning against the wall, fired, saying, "Damn it, even the army is involved! What kind of virus did we steal?!" Dallas continued firing, saying, "Who knows? Looks like we can sell it for a lot more money!" Houston said, "To hell with the money, whether we can get out of here safely is a question." Chains said, "Ninth floor, almost there." Dallas: "Damn it, is that damn sample ready yet?" Houston: "It'll take a little more time, should be ready before the elevator arrives."
The bullets slowly piled up, and the four men began to get wounded. Houston put two verified virus samples into a box and refrigerated them, while he also kept a newly verified virus sample in his arms.
Ding... The elevator doors opened, and Dallas shouted, "Damn it! This damn elevator is finally here, let's get going!" The four of them quickly moved into the elevator, and Dallas pressed the button for the 30th floor. Bullets chased after them and hit the steel elevator doors.
Houston put his gun aside, sat in the elevator, and said, "Was the mission really worth it?" Dallas said, "Whether it was worth it or not, we succeeded." Wolf looked at the ascending elevator and said, "Hopefully, Bain's rescue won't be as slow as this damn elevator." Chains silently counted his remaining ammunition.
Bain: "Damn it, there are police and military vehicles around the hospital. If we go out rashly, we'll be riddled with bullets. They've got military support, guys. My rescue might need to deal with some trouble before we get close."
Suddenly, the elevator shook violently, and all four people fell to the ground. Everyone was stunned by the shock of the explosion.
Bain cut in: Oh! Damn it! Missiles heading for the roof! They're all lunatics! They hit the building with missiles!
Bain: Guys! Guys! Are you still there? No! Another missile hit the building! I'm sure they hit their own people! Grab whatever you can and prepare for the shockwave.
The four people from Dallas clung tightly to the handrail on the inside of the elevator, which let out a desperate wail from the force of the explosion.
Bain: Okay! I'm on the roof now, run as fast as you can! The whole roof is on fire, get out of that crate, guys!
Wolf fired a shot at the top of the elevator, opened the elevator door, and climbed out by stepping on Dallas's shoulders. Houston followed, then Chains climbed out, and then pulled Dallas up. When the four of them jumped out of the elevator and reached the maintenance passage in the elevator shaft, the elevator finally gave way and fell.
Bain: "Find a way to the top floor, let's get out of this damn hell as soon as possible!"
Find the stairs! This place is collapsing. We have to get out of here, climb! Guys! Climb! Everything here is on fire! Move, move, move!
The four Dallas men ran into the rescue helicopter, but the crisis wasn't over. Houston moved the helicopter to another location to place another virus sample, when suddenly a rocket fired by pursuers hit the tail of the aircraft. Dallas yelled, "Damn it!"
The rocket hit the tail of the helicopter, which immediately lost its balance and crashed toward the building.
Bain: "Damn it, I'm going to find a new escape route right away."
The captain strained to steer the helicopter toward the central lake. "Damn it," he cried, "I can't keep the helicopter under control anymore! We need to jump!" The helicopter circled repeatedly in mid-air, thick black smoke billowing from its tail. Dallas, watching the rapidly changing scenery outside the window, yelled, "We need to jump! Damn it, where's Bane's escape route?"
Bain: Damn it, we found the sewer inlet in the central lake. Let's escape there!
The helicopter wobbled towards the central lake. Suddenly, another missile was fired from the attack helicopter behind them. Wolf, watching the slowly approaching missile, yelled, "Damn it! We need to jump now! Immediately!" Houston opened the hatch, the powerful wind pressure pulling at everyone inside. Chains, looking at the central lake still a short distance away, said, "Damn it! We're not going to get there, we're still a ways off!" Wolf shouted, "We're out of time!" The captain said, "What are you all arguing about? Jumping or not jumping, we're all going to die. If you won't jump, I will!" Dallas drew his M92F pistol and said, "Maintain the helicopter!" The captain said, "If you kill me, who will maintain the helicopter?" Bang! The bullet pierced the captain's head, and the captain died in disbelief. Dallas quickly took the co-pilot's seat, stabilized the helicopter, and turned to Wolf, saying, "I said jump, so jump!"
The missile rapidly approached the helicopter. Dallas steadily maneuvered the helicopter towards the surface of the central lake. Dallas said, "Jump!" Wolf glanced at Dallas, grabbed his Remington, and jumped out of the helicopter. Chains said, "Good luck!" and then jumped out as well. Houston looked at Dallas and said, "What about you?!" Dallas struggled to maintain the helicopter's balance and shouted, "I'm leaving! Who's going to protect this damn helicopter?! Houston, mission accomplished!" Houston grabbed his M4A1 carbine, slung the box containing the virus over his shoulder, and jumped out of the helicopter.
The helicopter alarm, indicating it was locked on, kept blaring. Finally, a missile struck the helicopter, blasting it into pieces that fell into the central lake.
*Beep beep beep...* Dallas shattered the cockpit window with his M92F pistol, leaning half his body out. Facing the powerful air pressure, Dallas jumped downwards. Then, a wave of heat from the explosion hit him behind him, and Dallas's consciousness went blank...
Wolfe landed safely in the central lake, watching the helicopter slowly crash. He saw Chains, he saw Houston, but where was Dallas? Where was Dallas? Wolfe quickly found Chains, who had just fallen into the water, and said, "Where's Dallas? I saw Houston jump out." Chains said, "He's controlling the helicopter! Where's the helicopter?" Wolfe said, "It's already...it's already..." Chains said, "Already what?" Wolfe said, "It's blown up. Dallas probably won't make it back." The two then found Houston in the water, but a short while later, a squad of heavily armed soldiers surrounded them in a yacht.
Squad leader: "Calling headquarters, they've all been found, but one has been captured."
Headquarters: They were probably buried with the helicopter. Bring them all back.
"Yes"
After the squad of soldiers handcuffed Wolf and the others, they were preparing the yacht to return to land when suddenly a bubble appeared in the water. Dallas abruptly flipped onto the yacht, and before anyone could react, Dallas opened fire, killing all the soldiers who fell into pools of blood. Wolf looked at Dallas in disbelief and said, "You're alright?" Dallas replied, "For those things, I can't die easily, especially for Hydra."
Dallas then threw the pager into the water, unlocked the three men's handcuffs, and sailed the yacht towards the final evacuation point...
The virus from Houston was now lying quietly at the bottom of Central Lake, and the tubes were leaking the virus. The infection continued to spread and expand, and it was almost unstoppable.
Chapter 651 The Anomaly in the Main World (12)
The first year after the cataclysmic disaster in the Marvel universe. John Smith is documenting his survival. At least, before all of this happened. By this time, the superheroes had already evacuated to other locations, taking over the former underground city of the Umbrella Corporation and slowly surviving.
John turned and looked around to make sure it was safe, then continued recording his last words into the digital recorder: "If you find this recording, it means I am dead. Please spread this recording. This is the experience I gained with my life. I hope you can make good use of this knowledge and continue to live."
He paused for a moment, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and carefully opened the door from his room to the garage. He first peeked inside to observe the overall environment of the garage, and after confirming it was safe, he slowly walked over, cautiously guarding his only and safe space with a wary gaze. Once he had confirmed the safety of the garage and the car, he immediately climbed into the car, closed the door tightly, fearing that even half a second's delay would lead to an accident.
He sighed with relief as he sat in the car and continued recording: "My city, New York, has been hit by some unknown plague and has become a complete hell. The streets are teeming with crazed mutated creatures—or rather, zombies. Fortunately, the electricity and internet haven't been cut off yet, and I've collected some data uploaded to the internet by other survivors. Based on this data, I've devised a plan. There's a small military museum here, which has now become a temporary military outpost. If I'm lucky, I might find the stationed troops there, which would give me proper protection, making me safe. If not, at least I'll find some useful weapons, which is much better than the knife and two homemade Molotov cocktails I have. That's my short-term goal."
John quickly discarded some useless items from the car, placed his backpack on the passenger seat, and dared not stray too far from it. The backpack contained only a set of clothes and a few canned foods, but it was all he had now. He confirmed everything was in place and continued recording: "However, there will definitely be many zombies on the road to the museum. My plan is to drive out first, attracting the attention of all the zombies near the museum, making them chase me. According to the data I've gathered, at the speed of a single car, they absolutely cannot catch me; they can only run behind me. Once I've confirmed they've all gathered behind me, I'll throw two Molotov cocktails behind me, creating a sea of fire to block the road. According to the data, they have very low intelligence and will recklessly rush into the fire and burn alive. Then I can safely enter the museum, this fortress. That's my plan. However, all the information for this plan is from the internet and hasn't been verified yet. So, wish me luck."
John took a deep breath, pressed the remote to open the garage door, and his adrenaline surged as the door slowly opened. He gasped for breath, licking his dry lips repeatedly, gripping the steering wheel tightly, his eyes fixed on the slowly opening door, ready to rush into the hell outside at any moment.
