"How is that possible? How could such a well-hidden facility have never been discovered?"
"That's something we should be suspicious of, but we can't worry about that now. We have to find the elevator leading to the underground building in the morgue. In about ten minutes, that subway train will probably start moving automatically and leave!"
"Then why were you dawdling like that before? You could have just broken into each room and searched!"
"Three of these five morgues are unused, and there must be some special settings installed in them. If you accidentally trigger the switch, are you planning to run away? It's still nearly 20 kilometers from here to the outskirts of the city. If we accidentally confirm it, even if we run to our deaths, we might not be able to escape!"
"I see, buddy. I didn't expect you to be so thorough. Alright, let's get started without further ado!"
The fifth morgue wasn't very large. Twelve beds were arranged in two rows and six columns along a north-south direction, which took up almost three-fifths of the space. Between the two rows of beds was a corridor about two meters wide for moving four-wheeled stretchers. On the white wall opposite the door hung a floor-to-ceiling whiteboard with four patterns drawn in black ink: a relatively flat triangle, a rectangle, a pentagon, and an irregular heptagon.
Perhaps due to considerations for the disposal of the dead, the entire morgue was dimly lit, appearing rather gloomy and desolate. In particular, the four strange patterns on the whiteboard made people feel quite eerie, wondering what kind of internal connection they might have.
Chris and Brix searched the room for a long time but couldn't find any mechanisms or devices. Brix also mentioned that time was running out, which surprised Chris. He wondered if Brix had the wrong room. In that moment of distraction, his leg bumped into one of the beds, causing it to slide an inch to one side.
Brix turned around at the sound, about to warn Chris to be careful, when he realized that the bed he was touching was completely still! He shook it again, but the bed remained motionless, as if it were nailed to the ground. A thought flashed through his mind: Could it be...?
He instructed Chris to quickly try moving the remaining beds and found that only three beds were movable, while the others were fixed in place. Chris observed the placement of the three movable beds and found that they formed a triangle.
Brix smiled smugly, having figured out the clue. Needless to say, the key must be in the diagram on that whiteboard.
As the two of them expected, what was merely a place for storing corpses in the eyes of ordinary people turned out to be a special place with many secrets hidden in front of Brix and Chris.
The whiteboard on the wall was indeed used to conceal the elevator. However, if Chris hadn't carefully inspected it, the two of them wouldn't have noticed that behind the whiteboard lay a dense network of power cables, and in the center of each polygon was a red button. If they had blindly pressed any of these buttons, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
Brix carefully ran the tip of his dagger along the entire edge of the triangle, finding that the small piece of whiteboard was indeed loose. He slowly removed the embedded piece. This revealed a dent the same size as the whiteboard in the previously smooth floor, and a red button, about the size of a coin, was clearly visible to the two men. A small amount of red blood on it proved that someone had just left.
"Bloodstains?" Chris frowned and turned to ask, "They're still wet, which means someone just left here. Could it be that person?"
Brix pondered for a moment, thinking it was very likely the work of the injured man in black. However, if it were him, he should have left long ago and wouldn't have left behind such fresh blood. Could it be that besides Chris and Brix, there was another person in this building? Yet, even with Brix's level of perception, he still couldn't detect anything. Could it be an even more terrifying expert?
A rare look of reluctance crossed Brix's face. He immediately steeled himself and said in a deep voice, "Never mind him, let's go down and see!" He then pressed the red button, and the white floor curtain, powered by electricity, slowly slid to one side, revealing the almost completely rusted elevator behind it.
Chris clicked his tongue twice, as if to say, "What era is this elevator from? It's probably over ten years old. It looks like if I just step on it, I'll plummet downwards at top speed and experience what weightlessness feels like!" Nevertheless, he gritted his teeth and went inside with Brix, gripping the cold metal handrails tightly. Given his personality, it's always better to be cautious.
After the two entered the elevator, the floor curtain slid back to its original position automatically, and the entire morgue became deathly silent again. The elevator also became much darker due to the lack of light. Apart from a yellow xenon lamp on the ceiling that was still flickering, the place was no different from a completely enclosed room.
Brix slammed the elevator door shut with a loud bang, as if venting some pent-up anger, as if afraid the elevator might malfunction and fall. Chris, meanwhile, pressed the green start switch not far from him. The entire elevator shuddered, and Chris felt his feet float as the elevator began to accelerate downwards.
Chapter 531 Subway Station
About a minute later, Chris began to clearly feel the g-force of the elevator slowing down. It seemed they were about to enter this rarely visited underground building. Chris had to be on high alert. In contrast, Brix appeared calm. His eyes were not filled with urgency to complete the mission immediately, but with composure and calmness, and a kind of anticipation as if he wanted to see his opponent.
"Clang, clang." Above, the elevator's conveyor chains began to clang against each other. After a violent shudder, the elevator finally came to a steady stop. Chris patted his dusty combat vest and hair before picking up his weapon, a metal pipe about one and a half meters long, which was currently the most handy weapon for him.
Moreover, since Brix gained electromagnetic manipulation abilities through mechanical modification, he has found that this power is rapidly increasing. It seems that there is an endless supply of electromagnetic force in his right arm, constantly stimulating his right palm. At this moment, some subtle changes have also appeared in his palm. For example, the skin on his palm has turned into a spiral shape and turned charred black. Chris could even see that there were faint sparks coming from the charred areas, as if he could release a powerful electromagnetic beam with a single gesture.
However, these were things that Brix himself did not notice, because everyone's physical condition is different. Moreover, Chris was a newly modified human. It was already good that his body did not have an acute and strong rejection reaction in such a short period of time. How could he possibly have more powerful strength? Therefore, Brix did not pay much attention to Chris's changes.
Similarly, Chris, at present, dares not easily attempt any overly aggressive actions. He initially tried using telekinesis to attract small objects, and it was difficult to control the direction. Now, he can control these objects freely, making them extremely lethal. In comparison, the short knife at his waist is much less effective due to its small attack range, serving only a supporting role. As for the sniper rifle that was left next to the zombies, it is even less useful. Although it has great firepower, it is more effective as a stick in close combat.
Chris, holding the metal pipe, stepped out of the elevator first, keeping his body as low as possible, and quickly slipped into a corner near the elevator. He only glanced at the corner of the wall out of the corner of his eye, observing the situation in the not-so-narrow passage in front of him.
The passage was only about ten meters long, and the electronic keypad door at the end was clearly visible. However, the indicator light on the door was red, indicating that it was impassable and that some kind of command was required to open it. In the middle of the passage, there were several small wooden boxes, the contents of which were unknown. They might contain some mutated creature, or they might be empty. The only thing that should raise suspicion was the red slime on the floor and walls, which was covered by something that seemed to have caused the problem. It wasn't ordinary blood, but rather the secretions of some kind of creature.
In short, everything seemed normal. Chris then gave Brix a quick nod, and the two of them bypassed the suspicious red liquid and headed towards the heavy, sealed iron door. As Chris passed the abandoned wooden crates, he was pleasantly surprised to find a QBZ-95 sniper rifle and a considerable amount of ammunition on a crate on the second shelf! This was truly a tremendous discovery! However, Chris quickly understood the origin of the weapon. The Hydra agent who had launched the attack must have used this very gun, and its abandonment here indicated that the person had been wounded and was simply fleeing for their life.
Chris picked up the gun and nearly thirty bullets, then walked to the electronic keypad door. He and Brix then realized they had encountered a new problem: what was the keypad password? Although there was a sensor above the keypad on the electronic door, indicating that they could enter by swiping an electronic passcard, the two of them neither knew the password nor had a passcard. Entering the iron gate was practically impossible.
Brix began trying to use his special abilities to attack the password area on the electronic door, to see if he could damage the electronic devices on the door with the abnormal current generated in his body. However, the result was very unsuccessful. The electronic door not only did not open, but instead displayed the message "After three consecutive unauthorized intrusions, this door will be permanently closed".
Brix was completely out of options, but he wasn't planning to permanently close the door until Chris announced he was giving up. Chris was pacing back and forth, stroking his chin, trying to think of another way to destroy the iron door. He racked his brains but couldn't come up with anything brilliant. However, he remembered the card Brix had given him earlier, the one used for finding clues. Maybe that card would be useful?
Faced with this desperate situation, and since it was their last chance, Chris decided to give it a try. He took out the palm-sized rectangular card and swiped it lightly against the sensor area. To his surprise, the electronic door beeped, and then an exciting message appeared on the LCD screen: "Password correct, access granted!" Immediately, the twelve electronic locks on all four sides of the door began to open in sequence, and the approximately 30-centimeter-thick electronic door was finally fully open!
Chris let out a long sigh of relief, while Brix gave him a disbelieving look and then said casually, "Don't get cocky, that's what I gave you." The two then walked into the underground building.
As the two stepped out of the electronic door, they suddenly felt a sense of openness and clarity! This was a main building with a vast space, and the place where the two were standing was on the third floor of this space, connected to the concrete platform below by six sections of narrow, folding staircases.
Looking down, there are three sections of railway tracks side by side, with a high-speed subway car parked on each of the two sections. Since each subway car has only one carriage, the space occupied is not very large. Each high-speed subway car corresponds to an independent culvert, and even on the concrete platform, there are traffic lights, large LCD screens, and automatic shopping machines! Rather than calling this an ordinary building, it is more like a small subway station platform.
Tang Tian's main body is in the Underworld universe with Deadpool, while his clone is in the Infinite Terror world with its own power. The real world is incredibly complex. Chaotic warfare and a jumble of biohazards make this world even more different, and the Marvel universe is becoming increasingly chaotic. Moreover, Tang Tian's true journey through time has only just begun. The Marvel comic book world, the movie world, and the Doraemon world are all within his grasp. It all started with that one person.
"Want to visit on your mobile phone?"
Chapter 532 Rebecca Appears
"It really is quite spectacular! It's no easy feat to build such a hidden escape route beneath the hospital! It seems they knew a biohazard was about to break out." Brix praised it, but his words were actually full of disdain.
Indeed, the existence of such a seemingly ordinary building precisely indicates a potential threat. Needless to say, someone must have been eyeing this hospital before, and the current situation has completely demonstrated that Hospital 514 has become a living testing ground for the Hydra virus! Countless zombies inside the hospital are undergoing unstable evolution and mutation. As for the extent to which they will evolve, that is unknown, but the only certainty is that in the coming years, more people will turn into monsters or even meet their demise.
Marcus of Hydra is ruthless enough to use all the viruses Tang Tian obtained from multiple worlds. These include the virus from the island of Dawn of the Dead, the advanced virus from Left 4 Dead, and many other hidden viruses.
"In my opinion, the original purpose of this place should have been just a subway station, but for some reason it was forced to be abandoned. It wasn't until this hospital was built on top of it that this situation occurred... Hydra really put their heart into it." Chris observed the supply facilities on the platform, which were malfunctioning but still very complete, and this thought came to him.
Suddenly, Chris pointed diagonally downwards, "Could that be the escape vehicle you mentioned? It looks like it still works!" Chris immediately turned his attention to the two subway cars. At that moment, nothing pleased him more than finding a way to escape.
“Don’t get too excited yet. It’s better to be a little pessimistic before we actually escape. That way, you won’t be too disappointed with the outcome. You know… that mysterious man will definitely tamper with the power systems of these two carriages before he escapes. He’s not stupid enough to leave us a way out! Although we’re both from Hydra, I’m an outer member, and I work for Marcus.” Brix calmly analyzed their current situation. Although he poured cold water on Chris’s enthusiasm, he still adjusted his mindset, because what Brix said made a lot of sense.
“Alright, let’s divide the work. Chris, you’ll be in charge of checking the power and electrical systems of these two subway cars, and I’ll be in charge of looking for anything else suspicious. Unlike you, I have a mission to complete, and if this mission fails, Marcus won’t let me off the hook.”
“Okay, leave the high-speed subway to me, you go and do your thing. But I won’t tell you when to leave, so if you miss this free shuttle, it’s not my problem…” Chris joked.
Brix nodded slightly in response, then silently walked toward the closed doors on the first floor of the platform. However, after a few steps, he turned back and said to Weaver, "Oh, right, I forgot to tell you something. You only have five minutes left. If you're a little slow, you'll probably have to run out. So it's better to be efficient if you want to get to your friend as soon as possible."
“My friend…” Chris didn’t know what was going on with his friend. If he had been rescued, that would be fine, but if he had been taken hostage, that would be troublesome. Chris nodded quickly. “Understood. It seems I’m not exactly free either. I need to hurry!” As soon as Chris finished speaking, he took three steps at a time and quickly jumped over the metal railings on both sides of the platform, running towards the two seemingly clumsy subway cars.
In a dimly lit room on the first floor of the platform, a huge bed that can accommodate two people is located in the center of the room. Above it is a surgical light, but it is out of service due to lack of power. On both sides are various types of syringes and injection bottles, as well as a diagnostic machine that displays vital signs data at any time.
In this room filled with the strong smell of acid, a pair of eyes were watching the two people talking on the narrow stairs through the dusty glass window. When they saw the person named Brix walking towards them, the figure moved silently and slipped into the dark corner of the room.
"Squeak..." The door opened easily, and Brix walked in slowly. He wasn't too wary, probably thinking there wouldn't be any other creatures in the room. He first glanced at the bed, found nothing of value there, and then moved a few steps further into the room.
It seemed this place had indeed been abandoned for a long time. A thorough search of the entire room yielded nothing of value, except for the fine dust floating in the air. Brix shook his head helplessly, deciding to move on to the next room. However, in this very secluded corner, a casual turn revealed something suspicious: a woman dressed in black combat gear.
Brix walked over with a puzzled look, gently picked it up, and after brushing off the dust, a small mark was revealed near the shoulder—a red skull symbol. Not far away, on the ground, lay a zombie. Although it was partially concealed by machinery and deliberately disguised, Brix still managed to spot it.
As is well known, darkness is the best hiding place for all things, but in the eyes of Brix, who possesses electromagnetic properties, he can clearly distinguish anything in the darkness.
"Were those Red Skull's men?" Before the thought had even faded from Brix's mind, he felt a sharp whistling sound behind him, followed by several bullets aimed directly at the back of his head. Because a silencer was used, there was no sound.
Brix sneered. He had anticipated this situation and was already prepared. The moment he spotted the symbol, he sensed an unusual life force on the roof behind him. Even though the other party was trying its best to control its climbing strength, not even the slightest sound could escape Brix's superhuman senses. Most importantly, he could sense viruses—T-virus, G-virus, or any other virus.
Chapter 533 Justice League Martian Manhunter and the New Plan
Brix swiftly dodged to the side, easily avoiding Rebecca's pistol bullets. The bullets sparked upon impact with the ground, demonstrating the weapon's power. As he turned, Brix arched his back, a powerful electric current rapidly generating on his thigh. Combined with the brief, intense stimulation of his leg muscles by the electromagnetic force, he leaped forward, rising two meters in the blink of an eye to stand before the person concealed on the rooftop.
When the woman saw Brix's skillful movements, she seemed somewhat surprised and found it strange. However, in just two seconds, Brix had already reached a position less than half a meter away from her, practically closing in with his entire body and completely taking the initiative. His right arm, with its bulging veins, gathered tremendous power and began to attack.
Both men knelt down, signifying the temporary end of their fight. Brix carefully observed the cold-faced woman before him. She was clad in a black combat bodysuit, with pistols strapped to her body and waist, a sniper rifle on her back, and even a dagger. The ruthless, unadorned attire made her appear extremely cold. Yet, even so, it couldn't conceal the icy aura emanating from her. This was Rebecca, a former elite soldier of the Umbrella Corporation, now apparently working for Red Skull of Hydra, serving the organization.
Moreover, judging from her skills just now, she should be a high-level Newtype warrior, and there is indeed a considerable gap between her and me. However, judging from her cold eyes, she still seems to be full of hostility towards me, and she doesn't seem to be putting away her weapon. But her eyes are full of thought, so she is obviously not a brainwashed person. After all, after fighting for so long, his memory has been recovering more and more strongly.
Brix knew all too well that in the battles between Hydra organizations, many warriors deliberately concealed their true strength, especially Marcus and Red Skull. They would often feign weakness to lower their opponents' guard, then strike a fatal blow when they least expected it, making them impossible to defend against. Therefore, not all women in the world deserve your tenderness; she might very well be your deadly killer!
Brix remained indifferent towards this woman whose background he hadn't yet figured out. He began by questioning her about her purpose in coming: "Who are you? Who sent you? Are you that Red Skull guy? I'm Dr. Marcus's subordinate. What do you want by interrupting my mission?"
In other words, Rebecca didn't rush to answer, but instead considered whether the person she was looking for was the guy in front of her. In the previous battle, his special ability happened to be mechanical modification. Rebecca had fully recovered, and her strength had almost returned to normal. She remembered that she was a member of Hydra. The rest was no longer on her mind.
Rebecca unexpectedly put away her weapon, stepped forward, and said to Brix, "You're the one next to Dr. Marcus, right? I've come to see you because it's important. You're probably not a member of Hydra, which is why I trust you so much. Because you knew my former friend Chris and didn't kill him, am I right?"
“Chris? You actually know him? Looks like another Hydra brainwashed guy has woken up. How interesting. I didn't expect the Winter Soldier to be like this, and you are too. Hydra is definitely not a good organization.” Brix didn't lower his guard because she stopped, but continued to coldly stare at the Red Skull guy, who was actually an undercover agent for some superhero. At the same time, his mind raced through the list of Hydra's members. From beginning to end, he knew that the members of this Hydra organization were quite capable; they were originally trained by Marcus.
"Are you deliberately trying to lure me in and make me give myself away? But it doesn't matter. An organization like Hydra should have been destroyed long ago. I've never encountered such beings, let alone such an organization, on Mars. I think you know who I am, that superhero. I took care of those Hydra members a long time ago; simulating their abilities is very easy." Brix asked in a stiff tone while maintaining a safe distance. Although he knew she was no match for him, he still felt it was best to stay away from this woman. Brix isn't actually from Earth; he's from distant Mars. It's a combination of a Martian storyline involving Earth and a Justice League member—Mars Manhunter, an alien member of the Justice League, a superhero with telepathic abilities and a simulating form.
“Chris, I’ve regained my memories. Luckily, this member of the Justice League can help us with this plan.” Rebecca finally smiled excitedly when she saw Chris approaching. She hadn’t expected her friend to be freed from his controlled state.
"What? Rebecca, you finally remembered! That's great! Where are Leon and the others? Where are they?" Chris was immediately excited; he hadn't expected this situation.
“Chris, Leon and the others are fine and have returned to Umbrella Corporation. You can rest assured. There are no problems.” Rebecca slowly explained to Chris. In fact, it was he who informed Umbrella Corporation that the time for Umbrella's counterattack was approaching. The bases attacked by Hydra were all insignificant forces. The true power had been hidden in various movie dimensions. Tang Tian would soon obtain all the power and return to the main world. He had also obtained almost everything he needed.
"Hello, Chris. I can't tell you for some reason, but I'm actually a member of the Justice League, Martian Manhunter. I'm infiltrating Hydra's base under Superman's orders. I've used telepathy to basically figure out everything about Hydra. When the time comes, Hydra will be destroyed by our Justice League, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Avengers, and Umbrella Corporation's Watchmen. This will prevent the tragedy on Mars from repeating itself." Martian Manhunter sighed. His brother invented a special plague that destroyed the entire planet Mars, and he was one of the few survivors.
"Yes. So I came here based on Umbrella Corporation's intelligence. We're about to find Hydra. The helicopter will be here soon so we can have a proper discussion."
Chapter 534 Justice League and the Avengers
In New York City, the world's most powerful superhero team has gathered. In a U-shaped conference room at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, the Justice League and the Avengers are seated on either side, with the Watchmen in the center – essentially the most powerful organization in the world. The world's greatest superheroes, the world's most powerful superheroes, and finally, the superheroes hidden behind the scenes have all come together. This gathering was orchestrated by various nations to address the Hydra organization.
The Justice League members include Superman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Batman, Green Arrow, and Martian Manhunter. The Avengers—Hawkeye, Black Widow, Iron Man, Hulk, and Captain America—are all gathered together, seemingly discussing something.
"Everyone, please wait a moment! The Watchmen will be arriving soon. This meeting absolutely must succeed. What do you say, Captain? We're all working for peace." Superman Clark looked at the Avengers members, then at Captain America, and smiled gently as he spoke.
“Yes, Mr. Superman. Or rather, Mr. Clark. I’ve heard about you.” Captain America extended his hand and gave Superman Clark a friendly smile, which was not surprising.
The Justice League and the Avengers, as two major superhero organizations, have done a lot for peace. The biohazard crisis also forced these organizations to deal with it. From the outbreak of the biohazard in Tokyo, these superhero organizations spared no effort to find the source of the virus, which was the Hydra organization.
"Hmph, Hawkeye, I won't lose to you. My archery skills are no worse than yours." Green Arrow looked at Hawkeye, his eyes burning with fighting spirit, which made the Hulk, who had been attacked by him, feel a little uncomfortable.
"Of course, I'm certainly not bad either. I believe my archery skills are better than yours. However, your hidden special power definitely surpasses mine; even the Hulk was once countered by you for a period of time."
Hawkeye pondered for a moment, clearly aware of his strengths and weaknesses. For example, Green Arrow, with his luck in controlling psionic energy and his specially crafted arrows, could easily defeat the Hulk, while Hawkeye only possessed a special arrow. The biggest difference between the two was their overall strength; without this difference, Hawkeye might have a slight edge.
Bruce Banner, standing nearby, was also somewhat afraid of Green Arrow. The psionic psychic attack was quite effective, so Bruce didn't dare to say anything when he first saw Green Arrow. After all, the Hulk inside him had been beaten up before, so naturally he had nothing to say.
“Um, Mr. Green Arrow, you are actually very powerful. Even the Hulk inside me, sensing your power, didn’t dare to show himself.” Bruce looked at Superman, Flash, and Green Lantern inside, and his other personality showed no signs of going berserk.
"Hey, Mr. Batman, the man known as the Vampire of the Night and the de facto ruler of Gotham City, how about a drink?"
Iron Man Stark raised his glass of red wine and said sarcastically to Batman sitting next to him. The power of his sharp tongue made even a calm superhero like Batman frown, clearly feeling uncomfortable.
Batman is also a technological genius, though their focuses differ, they share some very similar approaches. For example, in the Superman vs. Batman storyline, Batman created a super armor and ultimately defeated Superman. When he heard Iron Man's taunts, he wasn't angry, but he was clearly speechless.
"A genius scientist, a physicist. A high-tech genius, the developer of the Iron Man suit, the creator of the Arc Reactor. Iron Man, Tony Stark. It's a pleasure to meet you, though your words still aren't very good." Batman shook his head and recounted Iron Man's story in detail. He wasn't angry about similar superheroes, just somewhat at a loss for words.
“Thank you for the compliment. However, Mr. Wayne, if you need armor made, you can come to me. I can work with you to develop new armor and weapons suitable for you.” Iron Man finished his glass of red wine and said to Batman with interest.
"Hmm, that's a good suggestion. Although I dislike your personality a bit, I have to admire your talent," Batman said with a sigh. Aside from a bad impression, he had no other complaints about Iron Man; as a scientist, Iron Man was quite successful.
“Then let’s celebrate our successful collaboration. The Watchmen might need to wait a bit. My friend Mr. Donas told me that,” Iron Man said nonchalantly, clearly aware of the Watchmen’s situation.
"Then it's going to get even more exciting. This will be an unprecedented meeting, with most of the superheroes gathered here," Batman said excitedly. Usually, you can hear about other superheroes, but you can't actually meet them. This time is different; almost all the superheroes will be here.
"Knock knock!!!" Just as the superheroes were discussing, a faint knocking sound came from the door. The superheroes didn't move. They didn't need to be afraid, because they weren't afraid of anything, as long as it was a creature of Earth.
"I'm sorry, I'm late, Director."
The person knocking on the door was none other than Spider-Man, who had just joined the organization. In this world, without the interference of the Green Goblin, and with other supervillains having joined the Watchmen, his girlfriend's death hadn't occurred, and he hadn't suffered any major setbacks. He had resigned due to the previous biohazard incident, but was eventually found by Nick Fury and joined the Avengers.
"Good, Spider-Man. You've finally arrived, at least you're not late." Nick smiled. Although this little Spider-Man's sense of time wasn't great, it was a power that Nick could control. Other superheroes shouldn't even think about it; their strength wasn't enough to control such power.
