She showed no remorse afterward, disguising herself as a suffering woman, binding herself to a tree to lure Tang Sanzang and his disciples to her aid. Sun Wukong saw through her disguise immediately, but Tang Sanzang insisted on taking her in. They traveled together, and while lodging at a temple, she devoured six monks in the middle of the night. Sun Wukong transformed into a young monk, intending to use this opportunity to lure the demon away and eliminate her, but she escaped. Using a substitution technique, she kidnapped Tang Sanzang, intending to marry him to match her primordial yang energy and achieve immortality. After several battles with Sun Wukong, she was captured by Li Jing and his son, along with heavenly soldiers summoned by Sun Wukong, and taken back to the Heavenly Palace.

Based on the above description, this rat demon was only at the advanced gold level, which is equivalent to the Golden Immortal cultivation level. However, she was not far from becoming a Taiyi Golden Immortal. Therefore, she was no match for Sun Wukong, who was at the Taiyi Golden Immortal level. Not to mention that Sun Wukong went to heaven to complain to the emperor and invited Li Jing, the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King, and the Third Prince to deal with her.

Ling Chi wasn't particularly interested in this rat demon; after all, she was just a seductive and shameless woman with no extraordinary strength. However, she possessed a magical ability to transform an embroidered shoe into herself in battle. The embroidered shoe transformed into her, and her strength was almost equal to her own. Ling Chi had cultivated for many years and learned many transformation techniques, but he had never seen such an ability to create a substitute with comparable strength. He came here this time to witness firsthand whether the rat demon's ability was real.

In a short while, Ling Chi had already teleported to the bottomless pit of Trapped Sky Mountain. This bottomless pit was indeed very deep, almost tens of thousands of meters underground. If this were on Earth, the Earth would have been pierced through long ago, but in this world, tens of thousands of meters underground was still just the surface of the ground, which shows how deep the earth of this world is.

Upon arriving at the Bottomless Cave, following the scent, Ling Chi quickly located the Rat Demon.

The moment Ling Chi saw this rat demon, his eyes lit up. Sure enough, this rat demon was a seductive and vile vixen, exuding a captivating aura from head to toe. She was undeniably beautiful; in terms of looks alone, she was almost comparable to Chang'e, the Moon Goddess.

Ling Chi's sudden appearance in his cave startled the rat demon: "Who are you!?"

Ling Chi emerged from the darkness and said, "Are you the Golden-Nosed White-Haired Rat Spirit?"

Upon seeing that Ling Chi had exposed his background, the rat spirit immediately became nervous and subconsciously took off the embroidered shoe on his left foot.

Seeing this, Ling Chi narrowed his eyes and said, "Why aren't you answering me? Are you feeling guilty?"

The rat spirit snorted, "Although you are incredibly handsome, your tone is quite unpleasant!"

"It seems you're not planning to talk." Ling Chi raised his right hand, extended his index finger, and shot out a sword aura.

The rat spirit hurriedly dodged, but the sword energy was extremely fast. Even though she tried her best to dodge, she still couldn't completely avoid it. Her left arm was instantly pierced through, and blood spurted out.

The rat spirit groaned in pain, a look of fear flashing in its eyes, and hurriedly fled into the distance.

"Do you think you can escape?!" Ling Chi instantly teleported and stood in front of the rat demon.

"Ah!" the rat demon cried out in fright and knelt down with a thud: "Grandpa, spare me! Grandpa, spare me!"

"Hmph!" Ling Chi looked down at the rat demon and said, "I'll ask you one more time, are you the Golden-Nosed White-Haired Rat Demon?"

"Yes...yes." The rat demon trembled nervously. "May I ask what business Grandpa has with me?"

"I heard you can create clones using embroidered shoes. What kind of magic is that?" Ling Chi asked.

"Ah!?" The rat spirit stared in disbelief: "Grandpa...Grandpa, is this what you're talking about?"

"Otherwise what?" Ling Chi said calmly, "If you had answered me earlier, you wouldn't have had to suffer this pain."

"..." The rat spirit cursed itself inwardly, then took off the jade pendant tied around its neck and said, "Reporting to Grandfather, this jade pendant contains the method of creating clones. Please take a look."

You got it that easily?

Ling Chi felt that this trip seemed to have gone a little too smoothly, but he knew that he had great luck, so it was only natural that things went smoothly.

Ling Chi took the jade tablet and examined it with his divine sense. Sure enough, the rat spirit hadn't lied; it did indeed contain the technique for cultivating clones.

Ling Chi glanced at it and memorized everything. Then he returned the jade tablet to the rat spirit and said, "This clone technique is indeed amazing. I won't take your benefits for nothing. Consider this cake as compensation for you."

Ling Chi took out a piece of cake, casually placed it on the stone table, and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

Chapter Nineteen: Digging a Tunnel Uncovers a Super Project

"Ding! Conquered the stomach of the high-level gold diner, Lady Earth Surge. The diner's level is too low and does not count towards the conquest count. High-level gold recipe - Hole Digging Talent dropped."

"Drilling Talent: Advanced Gold Recipe. Allows you to quickly dig complex and deep tunnels wherever there is soil. The effect cannot be stacked."

"..."

Ling Chi remained silent for a moment, then suddenly thought of the Bottomless Cave. He only knew that the Golden-Nosed White-Haired Rat Demon lived in the Bottomless Cave of Trapped Sky Mountain, but he didn't know how the Bottomless Cave came to be. But after seeing this recipe, he understood. It turned out that the Bottomless Cave was dug out by the rat demon itself.

No wonder it's a rat that's become a spirit; its ability to dig burrows is truly extraordinary.

As Ling Chi was marveling at the scene, the rat spirit collapsed to the ground, completely immersed in immense happiness. Sweets are inherently a source of happiness, and combined with the recipe's own conquest effect, the two combined to give the rat spirit an unprecedented level of joy. She... was already a rat spirit who had been thoroughly played with.

When the rat spirit came to her senses, she hugged her shoulders, savoring the lingering pleasure, and made up her mind: I... want to eat more.

……

The Tongtian River is inhabited by a goldfish spirit named King Linggan. Originally, the Tongtian River belonged to an old turtle, the same old turtle that appeared in the last episode of the TV series Journey to the West. However, after King Linggan arrived, the two sides fought over territory, and the old turtle was badly beaten. As a result, the Tongtian River changed its owner.

Ever since the arrival of the Inspiration King, he has been threatening the surrounding villagers that they must offer him a pair of young boys and girls every year in exchange for his blessing of good weather and abundant harvests. Otherwise, they will all die.

For several years, the people around Tongtian River were saddened by losing a pair of children every year, but they also lived a prosperous life with good weather and abundant harvests. This left the villagers unsure whether to be grateful or resentful.

However, they no longer need to worry about it, because yesterday a group of pilgrims came to Chenjia Village. Among the pilgrims were three fierce-looking disciples who protected the boys and girls who were supposed to be sacrificed. They then fought against the Great King Linggan. Although there was no result, the villagers learned that the Great King Linggan was not invincible.

Just as the villagers were full of hope, waiting for them to defeat the Great King Linggan, Sun Wukong, who had gone to subdue the demon, flew back with a head full of questions.

"Wukong, how is it?" Tang Sanzang asked hurriedly.

"Master, I wonder where that monster has gone? I've searched the entire Tongtian River, but I haven't found it," Sun Wukong replied.

"Ah!?" The villagers of Chenjia Village looked ashen-faced. "What are we going to do? If the Great King Linggan doesn't die, he'll come back sooner or later. What will we do then if you all just leave?"

"This..." Tang Sanzang was a little embarrassed and awkward, but also had some empathy. He said, "Wukong, you, Bajie, and Wujing go to the Tongtian River again to find that monster. We must get rid of this scourge for the people."

"Master, don't worry, I, Old Sun, will go with Pigsy and Sandy to investigate. I guarantee that the monster won't escape." Sun Wukong called Pigsy and Sandy to the Tongtian River. The three of them split into three groups and searched everywhere for the whereabouts of the Great King Linggan. However, after searching for a day and a night, they still found nothing, and the Great King Linggan did not reappear. This left everyone puzzled.

Where did the King of Inspiration go?

Because they were still worried, Sun Wukong and his companions informed Tang Sanzang, and then the four of them stayed on the east bank of the Tongtian River for more than half a month, searching for the Great King Linggan. However, they still could not find any trace of the Great King Linggan, as if he had suddenly disappeared overnight.

While Sun Wukong and his companions were completely bewildered, Guanyin Bodhisattva was also restless in the Purple Bamboo Grove of the South China Sea: It's been so long, why hasn't Wukong come to ask me for help yet?

Uneasy, Guanyin Bodhisattva immediately did some calculations with her fingers, but her brows furrowed. According to her calculations, the Great King Linggan had completely disappeared from this world. In other words, the Great King Linggan had been blasted to dust, leaving not only a single cell behind, but also no soul.

Who could possibly obliterate the Great King of Inspiration to dust? Perhaps only a Quasi-Saint could do that. Even Guanyin Bodhisattva wasn't without suspicion of Ling Chi, but under her secret observation, Ling Chi hadn't emerged from the Bottomless Cave of Trapped Sky Mountain since, seemingly having an affair with that Golden-Nosed White-Haired Rat Demon.

Moreover, Ling Chi is only a Great Luo Golden Immortal. Although she is at the peak of the Great Luo Golden Immortal realm, advancing from the peak of the Great Luo to the Quasi-Saint realm is not something that can be done overnight. Even if Ling Chi is exceptionally talented, it is impossible for her to break through to the Quasi-Saint realm in such a short time. Although she is currently at the Quasi-Saint realm, she has undergone countless eons of cultivation. And what about Ling Chi?

Judging from his 'life wheel', he's just a novice who's cultivated for tens of thousands of years. It's already incredible that he could cultivate to the Great Luo Golden Immortal realm. If he could become a Quasi-Saint in tens of thousands of years, she would definitely think that either she's gone mad or the world has gone mad.

This temporarily dispelled Ling Chi's doubts, but it also gave him a headache regarding the difficulty of this ordeal for Tang Sanzang and his disciples. Although Sun Wukong had clashed with the Great King Linggan before, it would be rather anticlimactic if this ordeal were to end so easily.

After much thought, Guanyin Bodhisattva looked at another goldfish in her lotus pond, raised her hand to enlighten it, and then gave it a task. Seeing the fear on its face, she comforted it, "Don't worry, just pretend. I won't let Sun Wukong kill you. After you succeed, you will have your own merits."

"Thank you, Bodhisattva." The newly enlightened goldfish spirit jumped into the sea and swam towards the Tongtian River.

Three days later, the "King of Inspiration" reappeared, swaggered around right under Sun Wukong's nose, and then disappeared into the water, never to be seen again.

Sun Wukong and his companions had no choice but to run to the South Sea to seek help. Afterwards, Guanyin Bodhisattva took away the "Great King Linggan" with a flower basket, thus ending their ordeal.

As soon as the Great King of Inspiration left, the old turtle eagerly came running over, offering to carry Tang Sanzang and his disciples across the river. During the journey, the old turtle pleaded with Tang Sanzang to ask the Buddha when it would achieve enlightenment upon reaching the Western Paradise. Tang Sanzang readily agreed. Once they reached the west bank of the Tongtian River, Tang Sanzang and his disciples continued their journey, and the old turtle swam back to the riverbed, intending to continue being its master. However, as soon as it returned to its turtle den, it was absorbed by a spatial force and immediately lost consciousness.

……

Chef's Space.

Ling Chi simmered the turtle into a soup, and looking at the shimmering, diamond-like broth, he was quite satisfied. Only he could turn ordinary golden ingredients into a diamond-colored dish.

Turning his head to look at the sashimi made with the King of Inspiration, Ling Chi clicked his tongue. Although the King of Inspiration was a high-grade gold ingredient, when made into sashimi, it was only a top-grade gold dish, far inferior to the Old Turtle Soup.

Sure enough, this kind of opportunistic recipe that relies solely on the ingredients themselves is utterly worthless.

Fortunately, the King of Inspiration was big enough that he made dozens of other recipes, all of which shone with a diamond-like brilliance and were far better than the sashimi.

However, Ling Chi thought about it and realized that if he turned the old turtle into soup, what would happen to the final tribulation of Tang Sanzang and his disciples? After much thought, Ling Chi could only use the skin that had been burned off the old turtle and the clone technique he had learned from the rat demon to transform the skin into the shape of the old turtle.

This clone technique is indeed amazing. The old turtle created from the old turtle's skin is almost identical to the real old turtle in terms of both aura and cultivation. As long as the magic power attached to it is not exhausted, it can exist forever.

Ling Chi nodded in satisfaction, letting the old turtle lurk in the Tongtian River, waiting for Tang Sanzang and his disciples to descend from the sky, so that the final of the eighty-one tribulations could be completed.

……

Farms and ranches.

Recently, the farmers and herders at the ranch were quite surprised because Ling Chi was always digging holes in the ground and playing around all day long. At first, they thought that Ling Chi was just having a whim and would stop soon. But they didn't expect that Ling Chi would be busy for a whole year. He was busy underground almost every day for the whole year. They didn't know what he was doing.

A year later, Ling Chi suddenly appeared and invited everyone to visit the underground space he had just dug.

Everyone was very curious, so they followed Ling Chi to the underground space he had dug. What they saw there left them speechless.

This Lingchi was actually excavated from underground, covering tens of millions of square kilometers, with palaces crisscrossing everywhere. The number of palaces is countless, with one almost every hundred kilometers. These palaces do not look simple, but rather quite exquisite and artistic. Many people want to sleep here and never wake up again.

"This...this was all dug by my sworn brother?" Shi Qingxuan was stunned as she looked at the huge project her sworn brother had undertaken.

“Of course.” Ling Chi smiled. “This underground space is a bit cold and damp, but it’s a good place to store food for a long time. However, it’s a bit wasteful that we can just put our own food in the God of Cookery’s space. I was thinking that we shouldn’t waste such a large space, so I built an underground palace and connected all these palaces together. In the future, if anyone wants to play hide-and-seek, they can come here to play.”

hide and seek?

Everyone was speechless. You actually created such a massive project, unprecedented and possibly never to be repeated, just for the sake of playing hide-and-seek. You must have a lot of free time, you know that?

Did Lingchi really create this thing just to let people play hide-and-seek? Yes and no.

Hide-and-seek was merely a side activity; his real purpose was to hone his burrowing talent. A year ago, he consumed a burrowing talent recipe dropped by a golden-nosed white-haired rat spirit, and then felt he possessed the talent for burrowing. However, it was just a talent, not an ability; having talent without using it is as good as having none. To avoid wasting this newly acquired talent, Ling Chi spent a year digging such a massive project underground within the farmland space.

Actually, this wasn't what he initially wanted. He just got bored while digging. It was just drilling holes underground, what was the point? So he tried to create some artistic things underground while he was digging. As a result, countless underground palaces appeared one after another and were connected together along the direction of his digging.

After he thought he had fully utilized the limit of his talent for digging, he discovered that he had unintentionally created an unprecedented and unparalleled project.

He had originally planned to seal up all the underground caves once he had honed his abilities, since he wouldn't need them anyway. But since the scale was already so large, and the palace seemed to be built quite well, he decided to preserve it and invite the people from the farm to come and see the underground palace, which would also add another form of entertainment for them.

Others may not know, but some farmers and herdsmen who were originally monsters really like this underground palace. When they were still monsters, they lived in caves, but since they were recruited by Ling Chi, they have never lived there again. They originally thought that after they cultivated into human form, they were destined to have no connection with caves. Unexpectedly, Ling Chi suddenly created this underground palace complex, which is simply wonderful.

So, on the very day Ling Chi invited everyone to the underground palace, a bunch of monsters moved in. And you know what? Living in the underground palace really gave them a sense of being king.

Even Xiaoqing and Su Mei ran to the underground palace and claimed two beautiful palaces, saying that this would be their home from now on. Ling Chi chuckled twice, letting them be happy.

After finishing the massive project of the underground palace, Ling Chi realized that only a little over a month had passed in the outside world. Calculating the time it would take for Tang Sanzang and his disciples to obtain the scriptures, he figured they would have to wait another five or six years. However, he had nothing left to gain.

No, there's one more.

……

In the bottomless cave of Trap Mountain, the Golden-Nosed White-Haired Rat Spirit has been listless for the past few months. Ever since she tasted the cake left to her by Ling Chi, she has been unable to eat anything else. Even peanuts, which she used to love the most, no longer tasted good to her.

She wanted to find Ling Chi, but Ling Chi had never revealed his name or identity. Although she knew that with Ling Chi's abilities, he was definitely not an unknown figure in the Three Realms, there were too many powerful beings in the Three Realms. After comparing them one by one, she could not find anyone who matched his identity. Perhaps there were some, but they were definitely at a level she could not reach, such as some elusive gods in the Heavenly Court!

Several months passed in the blink of an eye, and she found that she had lost a lot of weight.

"It's all your fault! Why did you leave me such a delicious cake? Didn't you ever think about what I would do if I couldn't eat it anymore? It's all your fault!" The golden-nosed white-haired rat spirit muttered resentfully.

The maids who had been taking care of her couldn't stand it any longer. One of them came over and said, "Madam, we've heard that Tang Sanzang and his disciples are about to reach our territory. It's said that eating Tang Sanzang's flesh can grant immortality. Wouldn't you like to try some, Madam?"

The rat demon glanced at her and said indifferently, "What's so delicious about Tang Sanzang's flesh? Besides, what's so difficult about achieving immortality? I don't care about it at all."

"..." The maid was silent for a moment, then said, "I heard that Tang Sanzang is very handsome and his primordial yang is well preserved. If he were to marry Madam, he might have a chance to become a Taiyi Golden Immortal."

"Oh?" The rat spirit perked up and said, "If that's really the case, then we can't let Tang Sanzang go."

Seeing that the rat spirit had perked up, a glint flashed in the maid's eyes, then disappeared. The maid herself suddenly became somewhat dazed, and after a moment her eyes became very blank: What just happened to me?
