Frank realized that Jack's demeanor was genuine and asked, "Shadow Knight, what's going on?"

Adam explained, "It's actually my fault. To save Jack, I used the life serum that hadn't been successfully developed yet. Although your child survived, the side effects of the serum caused him to grow into what he is now within a week. Look at him closely, he is Jack."

Frank was shocked. With a hint of doubt, he looked closely at the young man before him and indeed found that he looked very much like himself when he was young. Storm decided to check on Logan's situation before picking them up. Adam had no objection; his involvement was solely due to Logan's phone call and his displeasure with the organization that had tricked him—purely for revenge.

Adam said to Storm, "I remember Logan said he took a device that looked like a communicator from Cyclops's car. Do you know what that is?"

Seeing his attack effective, the Fire Man laughed heartily, waving his hands repeatedly, unleashing several fire dragons that destroyed all the police cars in a mere instant.

Fireman laughed loudly and said, "Haha, let's see if you dare to mess with me again!"

Whoosh whoosh! A police car seemed to have heard the explosion and rushed over. When Fireman saw it, a fierce glint flashed in his eyes, and he waved his hands again, trying to destroy the car along with the people inside.

Seeing that Fireman was going too far, Little Rascal gritted his teeth, took off his gloves, grabbed Fireman's ankle, and then rescued the two policemen trapped in the police car in a very dangerous manner before letting go of Fireman, who was about to faint.

Just then, the fighter jet carrying Adam and his team arrived at the scene and landed in the clearing created by the Fire People. Seeing the scene below, Adam immediately stepped out of the plane and said, "Hey, you guys better get back on the plane. Are you trying to play hide-and-seek with the police?"

Little Rascal and the others had seen Adam look like this on TV before, and exclaimed in surprise, "Ah, it's Shadow Warrior!!! What brings him here?"

Adam laughed and said, "It's me, little ones! Hurry up and get on the plane, we're leaving. And Logan! When are you going to wake up?"

Chapter Thirty-Nine: The Destination of the Heart

Hearing Christine's words, Adam was instantly moved, but he knew this was not the time to talk about it, so he gently kissed Christine.

"Let's go get something to eat first. I cooked for you today, you know."

Christine nodded upon hearing Adam's words and said, "Okay, then wait for me for a moment, I'll go change my clothes."

Adam nodded and said, "Okay, I'll wait for you!" He then walked out of the bedroom, went to the small living room, lit the candles on the dining table, and sat down to wait for Christine.

About half an hour later, Christine finally came out of the inner room, making Adam, who was sitting in the chair, light up and smile. Christine was wearing a black evening dress, and seemingly because she cared about this date, she had put on some light makeup, looking absolutely stunning.

Adam stood up, walked up to Christine, stroked her soft hair, and said, "Baby, you're so beautiful!"

Christine smiled and said, "Really?"

Adam nodded and said, “God and the moon are my witnesses!” Then he led Christine to the table.

Christine looked at the delicious food on the table and asked in surprise, "Did you make all of this yourself?"

Adam said, "Of course, come on, have a taste. You work very hard making movies too."

Adam's cooking was delicious, and the two of them finished their dinner, taking turns eating bites.

Adam stood up with a smile and said, "Beautiful princess, may I have this dance with you?"

Christine laughed and said, "Of course, my prince!"

Adam, holding Christine's hand, asked, "Why not a knight?"

Christine playfully said, "I prefer the prince, is that not allowed?"

Adam laughed, "Of course, my princess!" and began to dance slowly to the music.

Christine leaned her head close to Adam's ear and whispered, "You know what? I've been having this unreal feeling lately, especially these past few days when you haven't called me, and I can't reach you when I try. It makes me feel like I've been abandoned."

Adam looked at Christine and said, "You silly girl, why are you thinking like that? I'm just too busy. You should know what's been happening in New York these past few days. Because of these events, morale in the company is low, and I have to think of a solution."

Christine stopped Adam and said, "Let's not talk about this today. I love you, Adam, I really love you!"

Upon hearing this, Adam replied, "I love you too, Christine!"

As their lips parted, Christine softly said, "I'm content just to hear those words with my own ears. Thank you for your love, Adam."

Adam said very seriously, "You won't regret your choice, Christine. I'll let time prove everything."
