"Can't Wolverine and Phoenix even contact each other?" Adam asked.

“No, these two people seem to have vanished from the face of the earth; there are no records of them whatsoever.” Athena shook her head.

"This is very unusual," Adam sighed. "What gives them the confidence to take on so many people at once?"

"I don't know. I know that almost every country on Earth has quantum-protected supercomputers in its most important departments. I can't hack into them," Athena replied.

"Heh, they're keeping an eye on us." Adam chuckled and said, "That's really suspicious."

“I just can’t understand what gives them their confidence,” Athena said.

"Yes, what kind of confidence could make leaders from all over the world unanimously decide to take action against the humans?" Adam pondered for a moment and said, "It's practically digging our own grave. I have a feeling that there's an even bigger conspiracy waiting for us."

“Yes, if we sort out what has happened in the past few years, it’s not hard to see that Earth is trying its best to weaken humanity.” Athena quickly analyzed the information she had obtained in the past few days and speculated, “Could it be a conspiracy by some alien civilization to first plunge Earth into civil war, and then directly invade Earth after Earth is in chaos?”

“It’s not impossible.” Adam decided that there was some truth to it and said, “I’ll go to Professor X’s place myself to see what happened. You continue to keep an eye on things here, and conduct a thorough investigation of anyone who has been in contact with Bucky, the Winter Soldier.”

“Alright, I’ll try my best to test you, Master. After all, I’ve received very little information since they went into this German special forces base.” Athena frowned and said, “It seems they don’t trust us at all.”

"That's because they have no idea what we were doing before, or why we suddenly disappeared and then suddenly reappeared. So, we can be considered an uncertain factor in all their conspiracies and schemes," Adam said calmly. "Because of the strength I've shown, they can't deal with us for the time being, which is why they're separating me from the Avengers."

"They even calculated Tony's performance?" Athena asked, somewhat surprised.

“What’s so difficult about that? Tony’s personality is what it is, and he’s always felt guilty about Ultron. It’s not hard to imagine that someone is using Tony.” Adam’s expression changed slightly as he spoke.

“Although I am now an intelligent being, I still don’t understand this matter.” Athena shrugged, then changed the subject, saying, “I will prepare for you, Master, some of the things Christine and I have been researching. With these, your mission this time may go more smoothly.”

"Oh, what is it?" Adam asked, somewhat intrigued.

“A cloak, exactly the same as the one on your uniform, but this one has an even more powerful function: it can make you completely invisible,” Athena said with a smile.

"Complete invisibility? What do you mean?" Adam asked curiously.

"It means exactly what it says, that it won't be detected by other energy detection devices. Hmm, even your own X-ray vision can't see through it, Master," Athena said with a grin. "We've already tested it before. As for its specific abilities, you'll experience them for yourself later."

"You guys tried it? Well, you're really quite mischievous," Adam said helplessly.

“I’ll get it for you right away, Master.” Athena said and immediately went out. A few minutes later, she came back in with a cloak, handed it to Adam, and said, “Well, this way, no one will know that Master has left.”

==============A German Special Forces Base=========

When Captain America walked in, he saw Tony talking on the phone in his unchanging tone, and the call ended immediately after Tony saw him.

"Ah, our hero has arrived, though his entrance wasn't exactly auspicious." Tony raised an eyebrow and said, "So, what are your thoughts on the journey so far?"

“I don’t think Bucky did that,” Captain America said, trying to convince Tony.

"Ah, so that's your take? Sorry, that's not what I wanted to hear." Tony said impatiently, "If it weren't for this, I'd be enjoying life in Hawaii right now, instead of chatting on the phone with the president's secretary."

Captain America stopped talking after hearing this. He knew he couldn't persuade Tony, so he didn't bother. Tony's temper was just like his father's, and their stubbornness was something Captain America rarely showed.

“So, what are we doing here? Lock me up? Or do I need to hire a lawyer?” Captain America asked.

Tony then took a pen case from his pocket and placed it in front of Captain America, saying, "I remember this pen was used by my dad. I heard it was involved in a lot of big events. Hmm, maybe you can use this pen to sign that damn agreement, and we can take Bucky back to a mental rehabilitation center in the United States, instead of some prison in Wakanda."

"When you get stubborn, you're just like your dad," Captain America remarked with a touch of melancholy as he looked at Tony.

He increasingly felt out of place in this world, with people he knew dying one by one, and now it seemed that only his old friend Bucky remained. That's why he was unwilling to give him up so easily. He had already let go once, and this time he would never let go no matter what.

“Oh, you know my dad? I don’t remember my dad ever mentioning you, well, except for the occasional thought.” Tony made a lame joke.

"That's a lame joke," Captain America retorted.

“Really? I thought you’d like her.” Tony smirked. “Listen, Captain, we need you, but please don’t put yourself on the opposite side of us. We have 24 hours to legalize everything. Please sign her.”

Hearing Tony's almost pleading look, Captain America sighed inwardly. He didn't want to lose these rare friends and family members either. Yes, family. Some members of the Avengers were family to him. But that's why he was reluctant to sign this contract. This matter was comparable to the slave contracts of the old days.

He stood up, walked to the glass wall of the conference room, and fiddled with his pen, saying, "It's not that I don't want to sign it, but I want to know if it can give us some guarantees."

“Of course, we can modify some things after we resolve the people’s issues. That’s perfectly fine.” Tony was delighted and said, “I made some suggestions to get you and Wanda’s freedom restored.”

"Regained her freedom? What happened to Wanda?" Captain America asked, his heart tightening and his brows furrowing.

"Her? She's fine. Although she's only being kept at my place, don't worry, Vision is with her, so she's safe," Tony said with a relaxed expression.

"You've imprisoned a living person in a house?" Captain America was furious. Is this your so-called guarantee?

“Hey, you need to understand, the house you’re talking about is actually very big, not some small house in Queens, you understand?” Tony waved his hand and said, “You can think of it as an estate. The kind with its own swimming pool.”

“Tony, you know that’s not what I meant. I meant that you have no right to restrict someone’s freedom. Wanda isn’t a prisoner,” Captain America said, somewhat angrily. “She’s one of us, part of our family. She shouldn’t be treated this way.”

Chapter 397 Split Three

Tony and Captain America Rogers got into an argument over Wanda, and any chance they might have had a chance to reconcile was gone.

"I'm doing this to protect her!" Tony shouted angrily. "You know what's going on out there. If you try to get her out of there, something bad will happen."

“You don’t trust her, you don’t trust us,” Rogers scoffed.

“I trust you, but others don’t.” Tony said angrily, “I’ve been busy dealing with these things lately, why don’t you just sign the agreement properly?”

“She’s just a child! You should know who she is; she shouldn’t be treated like this,” Captain America said in a deep voice.

“I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. I just want to help everyone,” Tony said firmly.

“You’ll always say that to yourself.” Captain America didn’t want to argue anymore. He wanted to check on Bucky, so he walked over and placed the pen in front of Tony, saying casually, “Keep this as a souvenir.”

Tony was furious when he saw Captain America turn and leave. He waved his hand angrily, then sat down listlessly, put on his sunglasses, seemingly not wanting anyone to see his eyes.

In another room, Captain America walked in, and Falcon happened to be there as well. He greeted him and then focused his attention on the television in front of him, which showed the psychologist questioning Bucky. However, because there was no sound, Captain America could only stare at the television with slight anxiety.

At this moment, a beautiful woman with golden hair walked in. She was Sharon Carter, the niece of the deceased Agent Carter. She had been observing Captain America and seemed to have developed feelings for him, which was why she helped him time and time again.

“This is your equipment list.” Sharon handed the list to Falcon, then walked to the other side and looked at Captain America.

"Hey, what's this 'Birdman Armor'?" Falcon asked, somewhat annoyed, after seeing the list.

"It wasn't me who wrote it." Sharon rolled her eyes, then noticed that Captain America was still staring at the TV. She walked over and quietly turned on the sound, then stood there pretending nothing was wrong.

Because the voice suddenly appeared, Captain America gave Sharon a grateful look and continued watching the television, listening to the conversation between the therapist and Bucky. Then he noticed some suspicious points.

He picked up the photo on the table—a photo of Pakistan after it bombed the Vienna conference—and said to Sharon, “Why is this photo known all over the world? And almost immediately after the incident.”

"Of course, it's to let the public know about this," Sharon said instinctively, unaware of Captain America's meaning.

"Yeah, that's the best way to mobilize the whole world to find a specific person," Captain America said sarcastically.

"You mean someone is trying to find Bucky this way? You mean someone wants to frame Bucky?" Sharon, being an elite agent, asked immediately.

"Detonating the bomb, releasing the photos, and sending seven billion people to search for Bucky—what a brilliant idea! It's a shame we've been searching for so long without finding him." Captain America gave a mocking smile and said, "I don't believe there's nothing fishy going on here."

"Maybe it's because we didn't blow up the United Nations," Falcon said with a dry joke.

“If someone is trying to frame Bucky, then they should be able to prevent us from getting close to him, right?” Sharon said, then suddenly remembered something and stared at the person on TV who was talking to Bucky.

"You mean?" Captain America understood Sharon's meaning and looked shocked.

“That person is suspicious,” Sharon shouted immediately.

Sharon wanted to leave the room to notify the others, but at that moment the entire base suddenly went dark.

"What happened?" Captain America shouted.

"The power system is malfunctioning, isn't it? Come with me, let's go to Bucky's place first." After Sharon finished speaking, he led Captain America and Falcon toward the place where Bucky was being held.

The entire base was pitch black, or rather, some emergency lights were on, but these only made the base seem even more eerie. Sharon, along with Captain America and Falcon, dodged the soldiers and, relying on Sharon's memory, made their way to the place where Bucky was being held.

"You guys wait here, I'll go check it out," Captain America Sharon and Falcon said, feeling a sense of crisis.

“Alright, I’ll go see if I can find your equipment.” Sharon felt that staying here might cause the two of them to split up, so he immediately said.

"Okay, be careful." After saying that, Captain America cautiously approached the door of the room where Bucky was being held.

Captain America gently pushed the door open, but the soldiers guarding Bucky were not there. Captain America gestured to Falcon, then stepped inside and found that all the soldiers in the room had been killed.

Just then, a cry for help came from the inner room.

Captain America walked over and saw the guy he had suspected lying on the ground. He went over, grabbed the man by the collar, and stared intently at him, his eyes seemingly burning with fire.

"What exactly do you want?" Captain America asked sharply.

"Me? I just want to witness the fall of an empire," the middle-aged man said calmly.

At that moment, Falcon walked in and was about to speak to Captain America when Bucky, who was hiding nearby, punched him and sent him flying. Seeing this, Captain America had no choice but to abandon the middle-aged man and turn to Bucky, hoping to communicate with him.

"Bucky, it's me, Rogers." Captain America tried to wake Bucky, but Bucky wouldn't listen and attacked, sending Captain America flying as well.

Of course, compared to ordinary people, he was someone whose body was enhanced to the limit. He was punched away by Bucky and did not pass out like Falcon. Therefore, he immediately stood up and chased after Bucky, who was running away. If Bucky really got away, then all the blame would fall on him.

The middle-aged man inside watched Bucky, Captain America, and the unconscious Falcon leave one after the other. A slight smile appeared on his lips. He then stood up, dusted himself off, and quietly left the special forces base while Bucky was causing a commotion.

Meanwhile, on an island in the Pacific Ocean that doesn't exist on any map—well, that is, Professor X's new School Island—Adam silently floated above it. Because of his invisibility cloak, no one noticed who was currently hovering above School Island.

"Something's not right. It's too quiet inside," Adam said in a low voice, frowning.

Because of the energy shield, Adam couldn't see directly inside the island, but he could usually hear some sounds. However, he couldn't hear any sounds at this moment, which was quite unbelievable.

"Master, there's a new development." Athena suddenly contacted Adam at this moment.

"What happened?" Adam, who was lost in thought, was startled by Athena's voice and immediately asked.

"Something happened at that special forces base in Germany. Because of the sudden power outage, I couldn't continue to investigate what happened, but I've checked the information on the psychologist who met with Bucky, and it turns out he's a complete imposter," Athena reported immediately.

“Keep following up. Let’s see what they do first. Something seems off on my end too. It looks like a lot has happened in the year we were gone,” Adam instructed.

"Aren't we going to notify Tony?" Athena asked. "He's already convinced Bucky is the killer. I think he's achieved his goal, and the Avengers might split up because of this."

“Don’t notify him for now, but keep following them. I don’t want any of them to get hurt.” Adam paused, then said, “Consider it a lesson for Tony. Sometimes getting too caught up in details isn’t a good habit.”

“But I think that your personalities are sometimes exactly the same,” Athena said with a smile.

"Stop laughing, I'm going to see what's going on here," Adam said, then hung up. 8

Chapter 398 Division Four

Adam circled over Xavier's Island for a long time but couldn't find any clues. Remembering something Wolverine Logan had told him before, Adam left the island's skies, flew far away from the island, and plunged into the sea.

Logan had previously told him that if anything seemed amiss on the island, he should use this method to enter from the seabed. This was a safe passage that Professor X had mobilized most of the teachers to build. Of course, after the safe passage was completed, Professor X, to be on the safe side, altered the memories of those teachers. Although doing so was somewhat unethical, Professor X still took action for the safety of the Academy. Therefore, only a few people within the X-Men knew about this safe passage.
