With a loud bang, Spider-Man and Human Torch turned around and saw that Wolverine, whose name they had just mentioned, had emerged from a human-shaped crater, spitting out dirt from his mouth. Seeing this, Spider-Man could only give Human Torch a very awkward smile.

Storm landed next to Wolverine and asked, "Hey, are you alright?"

Wolverine shook his head and said, "I'm fine, but it seems something happened to Jean. I just lost the Phoenix Force within me."

Wolverine's Phoenix Force was obtained by Jean Grey through a method favored by adults when she received the Phoenix Legacy. Therefore, he could sense anything that happened to Jean Grey. At that time, Jean Grey and the Chitauri general were pulled into the Legacy Space by the Phoenix Force to compete for it. As a result, Wolverine lost the support of the Phoenix Force and reverted to his early form.

"Damn it, Jean is alright, right?" Storm knew a thing or two, so she asked.

“No, she’s not in any danger,” Wolverine said with certainty. “However, it seems that I can no longer use the Phoenix Force within me.”

"What do we do now? Damn it, communications are down, and the professor has to do everything he can to restrain the Tyrannosaurus Rex's movements, so we can't contact anyone else at all," Storm said, frowning.

The current situation is that Professor X can't focus on anything else because he's not using his full psychic powers to prevent the Tyrannosaurus Rex from leaving the neighborhood. Otherwise, they could still contact other people through him.

Wolverine looked at the Tyrannosaurus Rex that Mr. Fantastic had tightly bound with his body and said, "There's no other way, I'll fight!" With that, six adamantium claws reappeared from between his fingers, and he roared as he charged toward the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Upon seeing this, Storm also used her mutant abilities to continuously create lightning and strike the monster fiercely. Fortunately, Thor was also in the area, making it much easier for her to use her abilities than usual.

Seeing this, Spider-Man stood up again and said to Human Torch, "I have to go help. What about you?"

"Hey, I've had enough rest!" With that, he roared, flames erupted from his body, and then he waved to Spider-Man before soaring into the sky.

"Alright, if they can all fly, I'll swing on the swing too!" Spider-Man watched the Human Torch disappear into the distance, his heart filled with fighting spirit, and he ran after him.

And so, everyone present used all their strength to protect Earth from alien invasion. They failed time and time again, but charged at the enemy again and again. Not to show off their heroism, but simply to protect the Earth that nurtured them and the billions of compatriots living on it. At that moment, they forgot their fear, their exhaustion, and their hatred.

Just then, a magic circle appeared in mid-air. Sun Goddess Christine had been teleported back from outer space and saw the situation. The huge Tyrannosaurus Rex monster immediately caught Christine's eye, and she snorted coldly and instantly joined the battle.

With Christine joining the battle, things were completely different. This monster was no match for Christine, who wielded a divine sword and could use divine magic. Moreover, it had already been attacked by so many heroes of different levels, so the monster was already at a disadvantage. Therefore, in just a few minutes, the monster was cut down by Christine with a divine sword spell.

After the monster was slain, its massive body plummeted toward everyone. But Christine was not about to allow such a thing to happen. She then used a divine spell, and a beam of purplish-black light struck the Tyrannosaurus Rex monster, causing it to stand frozen in the street. It then began to be slowly devoured by the purplish-black magical energy.

After the crisis was over, Christine suddenly realized that Tony wasn't there, so she asked, "Where's Tony? Where did he go?"

Wolverine slumped to the ground, exhausted from the long and intense battle. Without turning his head, he said, "You don't know, not long after you left, S.H.I.E.L.D. sent a message saying that a fighter jet carrying a nuclear missile was coming towards us, and he went to intercept it."

Christine was furious upon hearing this and said, "Bastards, do those politicians not want to live anymore?"

"They seem to want to wipe us off the planet along with the aliens!" Storm stood to the side, her expression icy. "Those damn parasites."

"Hey, Tony's back, but he seems to have brought a gift!" At that moment, the Human Torch descended from the sky and instantly collapsed to the ground, speaking haltingly.

Everyone looked up and saw Iron Man holding a nuclear bomb and flying towards the portal in the sky. None of them were stupid; they knew what Tony was thinking just by looking at his actions.

"Has he gone mad? This reckless guy!" Christine exclaimed in shock upon seeing it. "How could he just barge into the portal like that? What was he thinking?!"

“We’ve found a way to close the portal, but Tony is determined to do it, and with this big guy around, we can’t stop him.” Wolverine sighed, then said, “But luckily you arrived in time. You should have a solution, right?”

"You've found a way to close the portal?" Christine was delighted to hear this and said, "In that case, Tony's idea might not be impossible to achieve."

"Yes, we've found it." Wolverine relayed Black Widow's earlier words to Christine.

“Alright, I’ll go teleport the nuclear bomb in and then bring that idiot back!” After saying that, Christine used teleportation again and instantly appeared next to Iron Man. Then, she gently touched the nuclear bomb with her hand, and the nuclear bomb that Tony was carrying disappeared instantly.

"Hey, Christine, you're back?" Tony chuckled.

"Stop talking nonsense, I'll settle the score with you later!" Christine snorted angrily, then said, "Make them close the portal, quickly, or the radiation from the nuclear bomb will leak out from the portal."

"Okay!" Tony chuckled, then contacted Black Widow and said, "Alright, close the portal!"

On the top floor of Stark Tower, next to the machine Dr. Erik's creation that activated the Tesseract's power, Black Widow gripped Loki's wand tightly, inserting it into the portal switch, silently awaiting Tony's command. Surrounding her stood Hawkeye, Erica, Daredevil, and others, along with a pile of men in black lying on the ground—the same men who had tried to ambush Black Widow but were instead subdued by Erica's men.

Just then, Tony's command came through Black Widow's earpiece: "Alright, close the portal immediately!"

Upon hearing this, Black Widow slammed her staff down on the energy link between the portal and the Tesseract. Instantly, the energy connection was severed, and the portal, deprived of its power supply, began to shrink until it vanished completely. The instant the portal disappeared, the Chitauri who were still fiercely resisting the heroes also lost their lives and collapsed to the ground.

"We won!!! Haha, we held off the invaders! We've won!" A deafening cheer erupted from the heroes.

Chapter 306 Some Insects

In New York City, in front of Stark Tower, a vast plaza was ravaged by the Tyrannosaurus Rex monster. It seemed that only a few skyscrapers in the entire block had not been completely destroyed. Black smoke and deep craters and ruins were everywhere, all of which proved that a fierce battle had just taken place here.

On the ground, Iron Man obediently waited for Christine to scold him, but Christine did not scold him. Instead, she gently hugged him, her bright eyes filled with tears.

"Don't be so reckless in the future."

Tony felt a little embarrassed and ashamed seeing Christine crying, and said in a slightly soft voice, "Uh, I'm sorry, I won't do it again."

Christine was only a little angry because she almost lost Tony, but seeing his expression, she knew that Tony was just comforting her. If this happened again, this guy would probably be the first one to run out.

After all, acting first and thinking later seems to be the motto of the Stark family. Not only Tony, but even the usually composed Adam sometimes makes this choice.

"Well, as long as he's not hurt, that's all Christine could say in the end."

Tony smiled slightly upon hearing this, then asked, "Why are you alone? My brother and Phoenix are here too."

“I can take care of the enemy faster. As for your brother, he’s probably on his way back, probably wondering what’s going on at the Watchtower. Athena said there was a strong electromagnetic interference that cut off the connection between Earth and the Watchtower.” Christine frowned slightly and said, “As for Phoenix, I think she should be fine. Her situation is a bit special, and I don’t know the specifics.”

"Alright, let's not wait for them. There's one more guy I want to beat up!" Tony said through gritted teeth, looking at the surrounding ruins.

“You mean Loki, the god of evil?” Christine asked.

“That’s right, I don’t care if he’s a god or not, I just want to kick his ass hard!” Tony said in a deep voice.

“While I agree with your idea, things aren’t over yet, and we can’t leave like this,” Christine said. “We need to capture Loki, but there are others we can’t let go of.”

"You mean those people who infiltrated the battlefield before?" Tony asked immediately, realizing what was going on.

“That’s right. With so many alien weapons and corpses at the scene, if we let those guys take some of them because of our negligence, we’ll be in real trouble later,” Christine nodded and said.

“Alright, I’ll give the order to everyone right away!” Tony knew the importance of the matter and immediately relayed Christine’s thoughts to the cheering crowd via communicator.

"What? Someone wants to take advantage of the chaos while we're fighting the aliens?" The first to overreact was Quicksilver, who had put in a lot of effort and was almost exhausted this time. He said, "Damn it, I'm almost exhausted."

"I've caught a guy who barged in. He actually ambushed me when I was about to rest. Luckily, I didn't let my guard down!" Iceman's voice came through the communicator, reporting his location.

After listening, Tony contacted Professor X and asked, "Professor, how are you doing? Are you still able to use your abilities?"

The reason for this question is that the professor exerted a great deal of effort when he restrained the Tyrannosaurus Rex monster, using almost all of his mental abilities to keep the giant monster under control. Therefore, Tony was worried that the professor might become physically exhausted as a result.

As expected, Tony's worries were not unfounded. Professor X said weakly, "I'm fine, but I overused my powers and can't use them much for now. I'm sorry, I can't be of any help this time."

“No, that’s not true. If it weren’t for Professor X joining us, we would have died at the hands of this giant monster long ago. Those robots on the perimeter wouldn’t have been able to stop this behemoth.” Tony said gratefully to Professor X, “Since Professor X is exhausted, he should rest well. I’ll go arrange for the others.”

Tony spoke with the professor briefly before hanging up. After all, a group of people with malicious intentions had successfully infiltrated the battlefield, and finding and stopping them was the primary objective.

“The professor can’t use his ability anymore,” Tony said to Christine. “It seems we’ll have to find them ourselves. Sigh, if only the connection between the Watchtower and Earth hadn’t been severed, Athena could have helped us find those little bugs.”

“It’s nothing, just some bugs. Have the mechanized units start to retreat and consolidate their defensive perimeter, and then send some able-bodied people to search for them.” Christine looked around and said, “I don’t think they can hide for long.”

"I hope so. I'll make some arrangements."

After speaking, Tony soared into the air to contact the others who didn't have communicators, since the communicators he had taken from his warehouse weren't enough for everyone. Besides, as mentioned before, Quicksilver was too exhausted to continue running, so only Iron Man, with his superior speed, could act as the communicator.

Christine wasn't idle either; she helped them find the suspicious individuals and the mysterious device that severed the connection between the watchtower and Earth. Destroying that device would make their tasks much easier.

Soon, Christine found a miniature jammer in the ruins that was constantly emitting strange energy into the sky. After observing that there was no one nearby, she destroyed the jammer. Sure enough, less than a minute after destroying the jammer, Athena contacted Christine and told her that the battle between Adam and the Chitauri general had ended. As for Phoenix, she had already regained the Phoenix Force and absorbed the simulated Phoenix Force from the enemy, which boosted her strength. She was currently controlling her energy with Adam's help, otherwise, if she returned to Earth in this state, she might destroy the planet.

After communications were restored, S.H.I.E.L.D. received the news immediately, thanks in part to Athena. After all, when communications were disrupted, it wasn't just the Watchtower that lost contact with Earth; all satellites in that area were affected.

Upon receiving the news, S.H.I.E.L.D. immediately dispatched its soldiers to assist Superman's robotic army, as humans held certain advantages over robots in this situation. Three hours after the war with the Chitauri ended, S.H.I.E.L.D. and Tony Stark had arrested nearly a dozen spies and terrorists from various organizations and countries. However, Tony was still not satisfied, knowing some had escaped. Exhausted, he could only temporarily hand over the investigation to S.H.I.E.L.D.

Seeing Tony's expression, Christine walked over and said, "Alright, don't be angry. We're not omnipotent Gods, after all. There are always times when we can't be there for everyone."

“I know, but I’m still a little angry. Those guys are one thing at other times, but when the earth is on the verge of destruction, they don’t forget to take advantage of the situation. I used to disapprove of my brother meddling in this and that, but now I realize that some people really need to be disciplined!” Tony said, slumped unceremoniously in the ruins.

"That's the inherent weakness of humanity, or as Magneto would say." Wolverine was also there at this moment, smoking his ever-present cigar and lying comfortably on the ground. After learning that Phoenix was alright, he returned to his usual lazy demeanor.

"But what I want to say is that the building owners are going to cry now, haha." Spider-Man is here too, but he's lying in a rather strange spot, because he's hanging upside down on a wall that's about to collapse. Hmm, he's starting to look more and more like a spider.

"Does anyone want something to eat? I'm hungry," Quicksilver said, tossing his hair and biting into a piece of chocolate.

"Speaking of food, I remember there's an Arabian kebab place about two streets from here. Anyone want to go together?" Tony immediately sat up when he heard about food and said, "Don't worry, it's on me!"

Chapter 307 Press Conference

A day has passed since the Battle of New York, and the outside world has been in complete chaos. Almost everyone is asking the government about what happened that day, and with the help of some people with ulterior motives, all sorts of conspiracy theories have quickly emerged.

Fortunately, the US government was aware of what was happening here, and with so many alien corpses as evidence, the government certainly wouldn't let those conspiracy theorists succeed. Therefore, it immediately released the news that the aliens had invaded Earth and had been defeated by the superheroes.

When everyone heard the news of the alien invasion, they were all shocked. Of course, their first reaction was disbelief, since the rumors had been circulating for a long time but there was no evidence to prove the existence of aliens. Therefore, most people did not believe it this time. Just then, Superman returned from outer space and issued a statement saying that he would tell everyone about the incident through a press conference in a few days and that everyone should not be too anxious.

Despite continued doubts from the outside world, most people stopped causing trouble and protesting after Superman's promise, and began to restore order. Of course, the cleanup and recovery work in the main battle zones was also underway, so the S.H.I.E.L.D. troops assisted the New York City Police Department in maintaining security on the perimeter.

Two streets away from the war zone, inside an Arabic kebab restaurant, most of the heroes who had fought the aliens were having a post-war dinner. It has to be said that Tony is a man of his word; if he said he would treat everyone to Arabic kebab, he wouldn't go to Italian food.

The X-Men have all returned to the academy. After all, New York City is currently in a delicate situation, and it's not suitable for mutants to stay here. Otherwise, if someone stirs up trouble again, things could get very bad.

Today, most of the main characters from Battle of New York are here, and everyone has had a day of rest and their energy has largely recovered. Therefore, the gathering is very lively. As for the troubles outside, everyone knows that with Superman around, nothing will happen, so they don't take it to heart.

"Hmm, the roast meat here is really good, comparable to some of the delicacies in our Asgard." Thor took big bites of the roasted lamb leg, grabbed a cup with one hand, and gulped it down, saying loudly.

“If you have time, I’ll let you try the cuisine of another country on Earth. I believe even your Asgard doesn’t have this kind of food.” Tony ate the food in front of him very elegantly, and said, “Although I don’t quite like some of them.”

"You're talking about Chinese food, right? Hmm, I've had it once, it was delicious." Dr. Bruce Banner took a sip of his drink and said, "But I haven't eaten it since this thing appeared inside me."

“Perhaps we can go together another day.” Tony smiled slightly and invited Dr. Bruce Banner, saying, “Oh, by the way, I would also like you to visit our company.”

“Yes, you mentioned it on the space carrier, and I’ll consider it.” Bruce Banner nodded and said, “I’m already able to control the thing inside me, but I have to thank you for that.”

“Oh, Doctor in Shelton? That’s strange,” Hawkeye said curiously. “What happened? Well, you know, I wasn’t there at the time.”

"Speaking of which, what does it feel like to be controlled?" Tony was reluctant to talk about those things, so he tilted his head and changed the subject.

"Tony!" Captain America frowned slightly, after all, this was like reopening someone else's old wounds.

Hawkeye didn't seem to mind, shaking his head slightly and saying, "It's alright, Captain. Well, how should I put it, it's like watching a movie."

"To see a movie?" Erica asked.

"Yeah, it's that feeling of knowing what you're doing and what you're thinking, but you just can't control your actions," Daredevil explained from the side.

"Oh, and there's another one, it's that the magic wand seems to be able to unleash the evil within you." The Punisher sullenly sipped his drink, sulking because his child had just pulled him away from his glass.

"It really is an evil thing," the others said in unison after hearing this.

"Hey, speaking of which, I saw your brother and Christine before, but they're not here now?" Spider-Man suddenly asked.

"He's probably preparing for the press conference," Tony shrugged.

"By the way, Natasha seems to be gone too," Dr. Bruce Banner said, somewhat puzzled.

Tony scoffed and said, "He's probably too ashamed to stay here." Then he got up and left.

Dr. Bruce Banner was slightly taken aback, wondering why Tony, who had been perfectly fine just moments before, had suddenly become somewhat angry. He then cast a questioning glance at Hawkeye, who was Black Widow's colleague.
