"Huh, is the experiment already over?"

Maria Hill looked at Hawkeye and Dr. Eric and the others who were walking with him, and asked with some doubt, while also being full of questions about Loki who had suddenly appeared among them.

"The experiment has been successful. We have successfully opened a space, and this gentleman came out from inside," Dr. Eric said calmly. "However, because the space-time gate is not very stable and may explode at any time, we are preparing to evacuate from here."

"Where is the director? What is he doing?" Maria Hill, upon hearing Dr. Eric's words, did not continue to question him and nodded slightly as she asked.

“The Tesseract still needs to cool down, it should be out soon,” Hawkeye shrugged and said, “I have to take this guy to another place, we’re leaving now.”

"Okay, be careful!" Maria Hill waved her hand and turned to leave.

But just then, Nick Fury's voice came through Maria Hill's communicator: "Attention all units! Hawkeye and Dr. Eric have betrayed us and taken the Tesseract. Stop them immediately!!! Repeat, stop them immediately!!!"

Maria Hill's expression changed slightly as she sensed the danger behind her. She instantly ducked to her left, dodging the bullets Hawkeye suddenly fired. She then drew her weapon and attacked Hawkeye and his group, but there were five or six of them. The moment Maria Hill peeked out, she was suppressed by their firepower and could only hide behind a concrete pillar, watching helplessly as they drove away.

"Damn it!" Maria Hill cursed, immediately stopping a car that had come running at the sound. After ordering the agent to help Nick Fury, she stepped on the gas and sped off towards Loki and the others.

With Maria Hill's constant encouragement, they finally caught up with the leisurely driving vehicle five minutes later. Loki was sitting comfortably in the car, holding his staff which had turned into a short stick, and looked at Maria Hill's car with a smile.

Maria Hill, enraged by the mockery, swerved to control the vehicle with one hand and fired several shots with her pistol, punching a small hole in the windshield. She then fired at Loki, but his magic blocked the shots. Seeing this, Maria Hill changed tactics, targeting the vehicle's tires instead of the driver. However, Hawkeye himself was driving, and Maria Hill's shots missed the tires.

Maria Hill's tire-firing bullets were dodged by Hawkeye's skillful driving, but Loki, sitting in the open cargo area, was annoyed. How could he sit still while the car was constantly moving around? In a fit of anger, he aimed a magic ball at the hood of Maria Hill's car. Although Maria Hill tried desperately to dodge, the narrow tunnel meant the magic ball still struck her car, damaging it and partially collapsing the tunnel, blocking the path of Maria Hill and the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents behind her.

"I... F... Ding... Ding... Ding!" Maria Hill watched Loki wave goodbye as he drove away, slamming her hand on the steering wheel in anger. This usually calm woman uttered several F-words in her fury. 8

Chapter 289 The title was eaten by me

In the watchtower, Athena was watching the screen in the hall. Adam, Tony, and Christine were installing their newly developed space suppressor on the top of the watchtower. After months of research and experimentation, they had finally created this space suppressor.

"Master, the rune on your left is upside down. Please check it. I'll send you the image." Athena, who had been watching them, immediately reminded Adam after noticing his mistake.

“Well, I have absolutely no knowledge of these tadpole-like characters, so it’s inevitable that I’ll make mistakes occasionally,” Adam shrugged.

"That's because you were too cocky and didn't let Athena guide you." Tony Stark, dressed in a Mark X suit, said sarcastically as he worked.

Just then, Athena suddenly told Adam and the others that a very strong spatial fluctuation was occurring on Earth. However, because the entire spatial fluctuation was fleeting, the system that Adam and Tony had set up was unable to pinpoint the location of the spatial fluctuation.

"How could this happen?" Tony said, somewhat agitated. "Has all our efforts over the past few months been for nothing?"

"Don't panic. This spatial fluctuation is too short-lived, completely different from the spatial fluctuations when Thor and his group came to Earth. Athena, immediately investigate what happened. Directly infiltrating S.H.I.E.L.D.'s system, I have a strong feeling that S.H.I.E.L.D. is behind all of this." Adam installed the last rune-engraved component in his hand and said calmly.

After receiving Adam's authorization, Athena immediately began using her abilities to hack into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s mainframes, and quickly found information about the Tesseract, as well as experimental reports submitted by Dr. Erik.

"Have you found anything?" Adam asked Athena as he returned to the watchtower from outer space and entered the command room.

"As Master predicted, this incident seems to be related to S.H.I.E.L.D. They are conducting experiments on things like portals, and perhaps the spatial fluctuations discovered this time were caused by their experiments," Athena replied.

"The Cosmic Cube?" Adam frowned slightly and said, "It seems they've forgotten my father's warning, humph."

"What happened? Is there a problem on our end?"

Tony rushed in, not even having time to take off his Iron Man suit, and began to ask questions. After all, he was very confident in his abilities, even somewhat arrogant, and he was quite unhappy to hear that he couldn't pinpoint the location of the spatial fluctuations.

“It’s just an experiment by S.H.I.E.L.D., ignore it,” Adam said, pointing to the information above.

"Ah, an experiment by S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Tony asked in surprise. "Huh, the Tesseract? Where have I seen this thing before?"

Tony pointed to the photo of the Tesseract in the document, frowned and thought for a moment, but seemed unable to recall where he had seen the cube before.

“In Father’s lab, remember? You and I came to the company together and sneaked into Father’s lab?” Adam reminded him.

"Oh, I remember now. The first time you fainted, it startled me. I remember you were holding that Tesseract at the time." Tony suddenly realized. "But wait, if the Tesseract belongs to Dad, what's the deal with S.H.I.E.L.D."

“I looked into this matter. Initially, Mr. Howard Stark was in charge of researching the Tesseract, but after five years, he gave up on continuing the research and voluntarily returned it to S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Athena explained.

"Forget it, let them do whatever they want," Tony said, pursing his lips.

"Athena, keep an eye on this situation, and also ask Maria what happened." After saying this, Adam stretched and said, "I'm going to rest for a while." With that, he left the command room with Christine, who had just returned.

"This guy... sigh, never mind. Athena, since today's business is over, could you give me a ride home? I need to go back." Tony said helplessly, covering his mouth as he watched Adam's retreating figure.

“Okay, I’ve activated the teleportation array,” Athena said with a smile. “I’ve contacted Jarvis, and Pepper might already be home.” With that, she teleported Tony away.

In fact, after Adam recovered, he changed quite a bit. He was no longer as nosy as before. Well, in Tony's opinion, some of Adam's actions were indeed nosy. In addition, there were too many superheroes emerging in New York City, and Adam gradually began to live a semi-reclusive life. Unless something important happened, he would sunbathe with Christine, do what he liked, or study various technologies, living a very leisurely life.

At S.H.I.E.L.D., atop the Trident building, Nick Fury looked at the report in his hand, then slammed it onto the table with a bang. His already dark expression turned even more grim.

"Completely unable to find them?" Nick Fury gritted his teeth. "We at S.H.I.E.L.D. can't find those people at all?"

"Uh, yes, sir, we have no news of them," the agent reporting the message said, sweating profusely.

“We can’t blame them, sir. You should know that with Hawkeye around, it’s extremely difficult for us to find them.” Phil Coulson frowned and said, “However, I think we should prepare as soon as possible. After all, since that door has already been opened, it’s unlikely that only one person will come next time.”

Nick Fury waved for the intelligence officer to leave, then stroked his chin and said, "You're right, that guy, well, Loki said something similar back then. We can't just sit here and wait to die."

“Or, we could notify Superman and the Justice League; they’ll definitely help us.” Phil Coulson paused, then said, “Of course, if you’re not willing, we’ll have to go find the people you’ve planned to meet.”

“Don’t notify the Justice League yet. We brought this on ourselves, and we can’t let ourselves be laughed at.” Nick Fury thought for a moment and then said, “By the way, Tony Stark, has he joined the Justice League?”

“From what we know so far, it seems he hasn’t joined,” Phil Coulson said with some surprise. “You’re not thinking of getting Tony Stark to join the Avengers, are you? Are you crazy? They’re brothers.”

Nick Fury wasn't angry at Phil Coulson's words. Instead, he said calmly, "I'm not crazy. I actually knew Tony Stark wouldn't join the Justice League. I was just confirming. I know him. With his competitive nature, there's no way he would join an organization his brother founded."

"You want to hand over the Avengers to Tony Stark? Aren't you afraid that another Adam Stark will appear? After all, they are brothers." Phil Coulson asked in surprise.

“So I need someone to keep an eye on Tony,” Nick Fury said with a smile. “You’ll take care of Tony. I trust your abilities. And while you’re at it, give Natasha a call; her vacation is over.”

“Does she want to come back? You know that,” Phil Coulson said with a wry smile.

“She’ll be back, of course, you’ll have to tell her about Hawkeye,” Nick Fury said calmly.

“Okay, I’ll go to Tony now. Well, I’ll call Natasha after I’ve dealt with him, since Tony is a bit more difficult,” Phil Coulson shrugged.

Nick Fury shrugged and said, "I believe in your abilities. Oh, it's time. I'm going to find someone who can keep Tony in check." He glanced at the time, picked up a document, and walked out.

“Okay, you believe in my abilities, but I don’t really believe in mine,” Phil Coulson sighed and left Nick Fury’s office.

Chapter 290 Gathering Help

Inside a gym in Queens, New York, a tall, muscular man was sweating profusely as he repeatedly struck a punching bag, producing loud thuds that demonstrated the immense strength he was using.

Just then, with a bang, the man punched the sandbag in front of him and shattered it. The man seemed to have been thinking about something and was awakened by the sound of the sandbag exploding. He breathed a sigh of relief, wiped away non-existent sweat with the white towel hanging around his neck, and then took out the same sandbag from the side, replaced the previous one, and continued the same action.

"Why didn't you get some rest?" a voice came from behind the man.

“I’ve been sleeping for a long time, sir!” the golden-haired man said calmly, continuing to strike the sandbag in front of him.

"Have you taken a good look at this era?" The newcomer looked at the other person's actions, smiled slightly, and asked, "This world should be better than it was in your time, right?"

“I thought we had won peace.” With a bang, the golden-haired man smashed the sandbag that had just been hung up, then turned around and took out a new one, saying, “But now I realize that nothing in this world has changed at all, except for those people who swing around in the sky all day long.”

"Well, I believe you'll adapt to this new world quickly," the person said with a shrug.

"Alright, what brings you here, Chief Nick Fury?" the man in gold asked calmly.

“We need your help, Captain,” Nick Fury said gravely. “Our world is facing a serious crisis.”

There is only one person Nick Fury can call Captain America: Captain America Steve Rogers, who was active on the battlefield during World War II and is the world's first universally recognized superhero.

He stopped hitting the punching bag, looked at Nick Fury, and asked, "What happened?"

"Now is not the time to talk, and your appointment hasn't expired yet. I'll send someone to pick you up tomorrow, and you'll be in for a big surprise," Nick Fury said, keeping everyone in suspense.

"Believe me, I understand this world very well now, and I won't make a fuss anymore," Steve said, driving Nick Fury.

"I'll bet you ten dollars."

See you tomorrow!

"Take a good rest, this is going to be a tough battle!"

Nick Fury said something somewhat seriously at the end, then waved goodbye and left the gym without bothering Steve Rogers any longer.

Stark Tower, or rather, the new Stark Tower, is the latest building Tony commissioned to be constructed. The top floor is his own lounge, as Tony enjoys life. It also features equipment for wearing his Iron Man suit, allowing Tony to quickly leave Stark Tower to handle any tricky situations.

Today, because he had just returned from outer space, Tony didn't go anywhere. Well, actually, it was because Athena had given Pepper a final notice, and as soon as Tony got back, Pepper caught him red-handed.

Almost everyone knows about Tony and Pepper's relationship, but the two of them have always been on and off, as if neither of them is really facing the issue. However, no matter what outsiders say, they will continue like this. After all, it is their private matter, and outsiders can't say anything about it.

"How have you been lately?" Tony asked, seemingly having forgotten how he used to flirt with girls.

"My God, how dare you say that? If you hadn't suddenly decided to make me CEO, I wouldn't be so tired," Little Chili complained.

“Ah, you have to thank me, Pepper. I only did this because I trust you. Otherwise, who do you think would hand over a company worth tens of billions to someone else to manage?” Tony said, sitting down next to Pepper with a glass of wine in his hand.

"Ha, thank you? Come on, you just don't have anyone else you can trust," Little Chili sneered.

"Well, if you don't tell the truth, we can still be friends," Tony said, instantly backing down.

"I don't want to be friends with you!" Little Chili suddenly said seriously.

Tony was taken aback. After all, he was only twenty years old and hadn't thought about marriage yet. But he didn't want to hurt Pepper's feelings, so he could only stall for time in silence.

"Alright, I won't pressure you anymore. Let's not talk about this today. Tell me, why did you come back today?" Little Chili was a shrewd woman after all, and she knew she couldn't push her too hard, so she changed the subject and asked.

"Well, it's all set up, but we haven't tested it yet," Tony sighed and continued, "We've been busy for so long, so I came back first."

Just then, Jarvis's voice came through.

"Sir, Agent Phil Coulson from S.H.I.E.L.D. is here. He says he wants to see you."

"No time!" Tony said without looking up. He had finally managed to have some alone time with Pepper and didn't want to be disturbed.

“But he’s already in the elevator, and my subroutine seems to have been tampered with.” Jarvis’s voice carried a hint of anger as he said, “Should I activate the backup system?”

Chili Pepper had known Phil Coulson for a long time and knew he was a decent person. She figured he wouldn't do something so misunderstanding-inducing unless it was urgent, so she waved her hand and said, "No need, let him in."

“But I don’t have time right now,” Tony said helplessly.

“I know this guy. He wouldn’t contact you unless it was urgent.” Pepper smiled and took the glass from Tony’s hand. “By the way, I might be going abroad for a conference soon, so I won’t have time to spend with you. Good luck!” She then gently kissed Tony’s cheek.

"Is this a reward?" Tony raised an eyebrow and joked, "You kissed me just to let me meet this Phil Coulson. What's your relationship with him?"

"Oh, I believe that. You seem to look for me more often when you're not around," Little Chili chuckled.

"Uh, I think I heard something that could be misunderstood," Phil Coulson, who had just stepped out of the elevator, said somewhat awkwardly, as if he had also overheard Tony and Pepper's conversation.

"Ha, is this how you S.H.I.E.L.D. people just barge into other people's homes?" Tony said irritably.

“Something big has happened, and we need your help,” Phil Coulson said with a smile.
