While Christine and Thor were fighting, Adam was on the other side, almost dismantling the Destroyer. However, just as Adam had mostly dismantled it, a powerful burst of energy suddenly erupted from the Destroyer, blasting Adam away. It then began collecting parts from the ground to repair itself.

"No wonder it was so fragile. It turns out it has this kind of ability." Adam smiled slightly because he had found a very durable toy that wouldn't hurt no matter how much it was hit, and it could even repair itself after being taken apart.

"Who are you? How dare you stop the warriors of Asgard?" Loki's figure appeared on the Destroyer, staring at Adam.

"You've forgotten me so quickly?" Adam looked at the three-meter-tall Destroyer, which floated up from the ground, and said, "Didn't we meet a few days ago?"

"It's you? So you've inherited the power of Thor's hammer?" Loki said with a sinister look. "Are you trying to stop me?"

"I have absolutely no interest in your affairs," Adam said calmly. "However, there are a few things I need to carefully consider."

"Do you know who you're talking to?" Loki seemed annoyed by Adam's attitude, leaning down close to him and saying, "I am the king of Asgard, the greatest kingdom in the universe!"

Adam stretched out his right hand and gave the Destroyer Armor a hard flick on the head. With a loud bang, the Destroyer Armor instantly collapsed to the ground, creating a huge crater.

"Hmph, so what if you're the king of Asgard? This isn't your Asgard, it's Earth!" Adam hovered above the Destroyer's armor head and said calmly, "This isn't your backyard, where you can come and go as you please!"

"You impudent mortal!" Loki roared in exasperation. "If I didn't have business to attend to in Asgard, I would have shown you the might of the Asgardian army!"

"If you're so capable, then come and try it on Earth!" Adam said calmly. "I know your armor has self-repairing capabilities, so you're certainly not afraid of being damaged by me. However, I'd like to see if your armor can still recover if I put it inside the sun!"

Loki was speechless upon hearing this. If Odin, the King of Gods, were to control the Destroyer himself, it would be fine even if it were thrown into a star. But now it was Loki who was controlling the Destroyer. Without Odin's divine power, it was impossible to give the Destroyer the ability to repair itself infinitely. He had been using this thing without his father's knowledge. If it were to be damaged on Earth, there would be no way to explain why.

At that moment, Loki saw through the Destroyer that Thor had been blasted away by the magic of the man's companion, landing right in line with the Destroyer's head. With just a light blow from the Destroyer, Thor would be dead. Then, by pinning the blame for Thor's death on the powerful man in front of him, perhaps the Destroyer's actions could be explained.

Loki's eyes lit up with a brilliant idea. So, while he was talking to Adam, he secretly controlled the Destroyer. A thick beam of light shot out instantly, striking Thor, who had just stood up, and passing right through his chest.

"Haha, thanks for your help. Thor died on Earth, and I think Asgard now has an excuse to attack Earth." Loki laughed arrogantly. "We will meet again, Earthlings. You will bend your towering bodies and fall at my feet. You will!"

"Hmph, I'll be waiting for you, and then I'll show you the wrath of Earthlings!" Adam said calmly, then punched the Destroyer's head and blew it apart.

On the other side, Christine frowned as she looked at Thor, who had stopped breathing, somewhat dumbfounded. After all, she had only come to help Thor regain his divine power because she had been instructed by her mother. According to her mother, as long as Thor's life was in danger, the Odin spell on him would be lifted, and he would regain his identity as the God of Thunder.

However, unexpectedly, he actually died in the end. This was a huge problem. According to his mother, Thor was the future heir to Asgard, and that wasn't just talk; it was an heir recognized by all the gods. Unlike Loki, who only held the title of king. This made him a mortal enemy of Asgard.

Adam left the Destroyer's side and went to Christine's side, asking, "What happened to him?"

“He’s dead.” Christine frowned. “This is troublesome. Although he didn’t die at our hands, he still died on Earth.”

“Thor is indeed dead, but it was only Thor as a mortal who died!” Adam sensed a familiar presence approaching and immediately made a guess, saying, “The mortal dies, and Thor is restored!”

"You mean, Thor will only regain his identity as the God of Thunder if he dies as a mortal?" Christine's eyes lit up as she asked.

"They're here! Back off!" Adam grabbed Christine's arm and immediately took a few steps back.

Then, Mjolnir flew in from afar with a whooshing sound. Thor, who had just died, almost reflexively grabbed the hammer with his right hand. He was then slowly put to his feet by the force of the hammer. Suddenly, dark clouds filled the sky, and several bolts of lightning struck Thor.

The moment he was struck by lightning, Thor's eyes snapped open, flashing with lightning. His body was levitated by the energy of the lightning, and the armor that Odin had previously dismantled reappeared on Thor's body. Thus, Thor, draped in a red cloak and clad in magnificent ancient armor, was born.

After Thor regained his identity as the God of Thunder, he tightened his grip on Mjolnir and swung it fiercely, striking Christine and Adam with several thick bolts of lightning. Earlier, he had been beaten so badly by Christine that he was completely helpless and in a sorry state. Now, instead of going back to settle scores with his brother, he wanted to avenge what had just happened.

Upon seeing this, Christine snorted and erected a magical shield to block Thor's attack. Then she saw Thor spinning his hammer and flying towards them.

"This guy has become arrogant again after regaining his divine power," Christine sneered.

"I'll remind him of himself when he was a mortal!" Adam smiled, moved swiftly and appeared next to Thor in an instant, grabbed Mjolnir with one hand, and slammed Thor to the ground with an over-the-shoulder throw.

"How is that possible?" Thor was clearly confused. He had regained his position as the God of Thunder, so why was his hammer still ineffective against people?

"Why is it impossible? Don't you know that I have already gained the approval of Thor's hammer? If I want to, I can become Thor too!" Adam said calmly.

"That's right, it's Father's spell." Thor finally remembered that Odin's spell was still in effect, but he had no intention of admitting defeat. He held his right hand loosely, summoning his hammer in his heart.

As Thor moved, Adam felt the hammer move and sneered inwardly. He thought to himself, "So you're giving Thor the hammer to let him grow up? He's still my son. Odin still hasn't been fair. Although Mjolnir can freely choose some people with good character, its master is first Odin, second Thor, and then everyone else."

"Since you want the hammer so badly, I'll give it to you!" Adam looked at the trembling hammer, casually tossed it to Thor, and then stretched out his right hand to block a shot from the Destroyer, who had recovered.

Thor took the hammer in his hand and was about to continue the attack when he saw the Destroyer. He then remembered his mission and stopped attacking abruptly. However, he was also very surprised by Adam's calm deflection of the Destroyer's beam.

“Leave the Destroyer to me. Pure physical attacks can damage it, but as long as the person controlling it still has divine power, it can still recover,” Thor said to Adam.

"Calmed down? Not bad, you've improved a bit." Adam said calmly, "Alright, this piece of junk is yours, but you'll have to compensate for any damage to the streets or losses you caused during the battle!"

“No problem, but that'll have to wait until I get back to Asgard!” Thor said to Adam.

Chapter 285 The Avengers Plan

Thor went back anyway. Looking at the rebuilt Rainbow Bridge, Adam stood calmly beneath it. No one knew what he was thinking, not even his closest confidante, Christine.

"What are you thinking about?" Christine asked.

"It's nothing," Adam shook his head and said, "Let's go back. This matter is over. We've wasted too much time here."

Christine knew Adam didn't want to talk about it, so she didn't press him further. She knew that if Adam wanted to talk, he would.

Afterwards, the two bid farewell to Coulson, who had arrived at the battlefield, and instantly took to the air, leaving a sonic boom before disappearing from everyone's sight.

“Oh, being able to fly, that’s a great ability,” Louise shrugged. “And we have to take a long car ride.”

Phil Coulson laughed and said, "We don't need to envy them. Maybe they'll envy us for being able to live an ordinary life."

“Everyone has their own way of life, there’s no need to belittle yourself,” Eric Bo smiled, then said to Jane, who seemed a little lost in thought, “Don’t worry, Thor is so powerful, and he has so many people helping him, he’ll be fine.”

Jane sighed after hearing this and said, "I don't know when we'll be able to meet again after he goes back."

“I believe in Thor. He will definitely come back. He promised you, and I know he’s a man of his word,” Dr. Eric said, patting Jane on the shoulder.

Meanwhile, inside the Trident Building at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, members of the Security Council were holding a meeting with Nick Fury and Maria Hill to arrange some matters. Hill wasn't surprised at all by Nick Fury's presence there; from the beginning, she knew that the limited evidence wouldn't be enough to truly silence him.

"You should know why we've summoned you here," a director said calmly.

“That’s right, Director Maria Hill, I think you should also know that your abilities are limited, and Earth is facing an unprecedented crisis. I don’t want to put our safety in the hands of the Justice League.” A female director said expressionlessly, “Now, not only are there some internal crises on Earth, but there are also enemies from other planets, as well as that mysterious crisis that Adam Stark has been warning about.”

Maria Hill said calmly, "I know, and I agree. After all, in some areas I am indeed not as good as Director Nick Fury."

"Yes, as expected of one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s top agents." Another middle-aged board member clapped his hands in praise.

“Don’t be so happy yet,” Maria Hill interrupted, “I have one more condition.”

The female director's expression changed slightly, and she asked, "What is it?"

“It concerns Superman and the Sun Goddess, so Director Nick Fury must personally go to Christine to apologize,” Maria Hill said. “If it weren’t for Director Nick Fury’s interference last time and sending the Evil God into battle, which kept Christine out of contact for a year, our S.H.I.E.L.D. wouldn’t have suffered such a great loss.”

After listening, Nick Fury said, "I personally agree with that. At the time, I always thought that Adam Stark's power was too great and posed a danger to all of us and the Earth. Of course, even now I still think so. Any power that is not in the hands of the government poses a potential crisis."

Maria Hill was slightly annoyed upon hearing this and said, "Director Nick Fury is truly unreasonable!" But she wasn't too angry, because she knew that Nick Fury was just that kind of person, and if he really changed, then there would be a real problem.

“Alright, since Director Nick Fury has agreed to the apology, let’s get it done as soon as possible.” The council members nodded in agreement.

The middle-aged director continued, "Alright, let's leave it at that. Now we need to talk about how to deal with the crises we just mentioned."

"I think it's time to launch the Avengers program," Nick Fury said calmly after resuming his role as director.

"I've read your report. You mean to form our own superpowered combat army?" a council member asked, his eyes lighting up.

“No, the cost of building a superpowered army is far too high, and accidents can easily happen, making it extremely unstable,” Nick Fury shook his head and said.

"So what do you mean?" the female director asked.

Maria Hill said calmly, "I know what the director means. He wants to recruit some superheroes to form a team similar to an unofficial team. We can gather them during combat, and we don't need to worry about their other affairs."

“No, I don’t believe those clowns.” The board members shook their heads, indicating their disapproval. “Let Director Nick Fury speak for himself; perhaps he doesn’t mean it that way.”

Nick Fury shook his head and said, "Agent Maria is exactly what I mean. Recruit those second-tier superheroes, provide them with logistical and intelligence services, and have them help us with some missions that are inconvenient for us to handle ourselves, or that are too dangerous."

"Would they be willing? After all, they have a lot of freedom as superheroes," said a younger board member who had taken over his father's position.

“They would be willing, because most superheroes are actually short of money, or they are not recognized by the Justice League, so they would be willing to find a backer,” Nick Fury said calmly.

"But they simply can't help us get through those difficulties!" the female director reminded her.

“That’s right, but I didn’t expect them to do anything.” Nick Fury said confidently, “Therefore, we need to find some superheroes who are not swayed by money, and I need to personally select these people and then invite them over one by one.”

"Anything else?" The female director didn't think Nick Fury's plan was limited to just this.

“There’s another plan I mentioned to you a long time ago, but Mr. Howard rejected it at the time. I think we can proceed with that plan now,” Nick Fury said mysteriously.

"You mean that thing? Can current technology achieve what you're talking about?" an elderly board member suddenly asked.

"Thanks to the technology brought by Mr. Adam Stark, we are now capable of developing it. Moreover, Agent Coulson has discovered a special talent this time. With his involvement, we should be able to complete our plans."

“In that case, let’s begin. However, regarding the Avengers team you mentioned, I still think it’s not the right time. Most countries don’t trust these superheroes right now, and recruiting them might bring us some unnecessary trouble,” the elderly council member said.

“I know what I'm doing!” Nick Fury said calmly.

"Is that so? Well then, you can decide for yourself. But if anything goes wrong, we will not take responsibility!" the female director said.

“No problem, it’s not like I haven’t taken the blame before!” Nick Fury shrugged and said, “If this is all over, then please get some rest. I have some important things to arrange here.”

Upon hearing Nick Fury's words, the council members realized that S.H.I.E.L.D. needed a complete overhaul under his leadership, so they all logged off, ending the remote meeting. Of course, some new council members were understandably unhappy, but the silence of the older members was already a definite stance.

After all the screens dimmed, Maria Hill looked at Nick Fury and said, "Congratulations. Not only have you been reinstated, but you've also gotten the plan you've been working on approved by the council."

Nick Fury smiled slightly and said, "I know you have a problem with me, but I think we should stand together in times of crisis."

After hearing this, Maria Hill said, "Don't worry about that. I have never forgotten the oath I took when I joined S.H.I.E.L.D., otherwise you wouldn't be standing here alive."

Chapter 286 Pandora's Box

Adam and Christine learned about S.H.I.E.L.D.'s affairs immediately, but he no longer had the time to deal with them. Besides, he didn't want to get involved in those messy things in the first place. After this deep coma, Adam's current goal was simple: to help humanity survive the impending war, and then take Christine and his friends who wanted to leave with him, to leave Earth and head to the infinite universe.

Of course, that's a future plan. Right now, Adam is working with Tony, Athena, and others to research how to create a protective device for Earth. After all, Earth is practically an undeveloped world to those high-tech worlds, like a room with its doors wide open, where people can come and go as they please.

“I think there’s something wrong with our approach,” Tony said, looking at the data in front of him. “According to what you just said, even if we actually create a protective shield, what’s the difference between that and a coward hiding in the mud?”

Adam pondered for a moment and said, "However, there's not much we can do now. With the speed of our world's development, and considering the information we sent back then, there must be some alien planets or extraterrestrials already eyeing our Earth. If they have space jump technology, their army could be directly teleported into the city, causing serious casualties."

“I know the consequences,” Tony nodded, “but we can’t create a protective shield that covers the entire Earth. Putting aside the energy and construction costs, it wouldn’t benefit the Earth’s future development either. We can’t close ourselves off from the world!”

"So, what's your opinion?" Adam asked.

“Perhaps we can create a device that can accurately capture spacetime fluctuations,” Tony said, stroking his chin. “Based on my research over the past few days, I’ve discovered that even technologies like space jumps have a limited duration of effect. Perhaps we can use this to create a monitoring device that covers the entire Earth and then conduct targeted defense.”

"You mean, wherever you detect spatial fluctuations, you take action to disrupt the spatial stability there, preventing the other party from reaching Earth?" Adam's eyes lit up as he asked.

“That’s right, that’s exactly what I mean.” Tony took a sip of coffee, stretched his neck, and said, “I’ve been studying this data with Athena these past few days, and we’ve discovered that we might be able to do this. That way, we won’t need to relaunch satellites; we can simply equip the satellites launched by various countries with positioning and attack systems.”

After hearing this, Christine said, "As for the attack system, I can design a magic circle that absorbs solar energy. After all, magic has unique advantages in disrupting spatial stability. Of course, we also need to design self-destruct programs on each satellite."

“Since this plan is feasible, let’s get started, Tony. This time, we might need one of your company’s satellites for a test,” Adam said.

Although Adam's company is considered a top company in its field, it does not own any satellites. After all, each country controls the number of satellites it can launch; otherwise, in a few years, the Earth might not see sunlight at all because it would be blocked by those satellites.
