The man nodded and said, "Thanks, Athena, let's go!" He then stepped into the teleportation device and was the first to be teleported to Tony's house.
Soon after Adam and the others entered Tony's house, Pepper rushed over. He didn't quite understand what Athena had said, but he knew that since Adam was back, Tony should be able to be found as well.
“Adam, thank God, you’re finally back,” Pepper said, her voice trembling with emotion.
“Alright, Pepper, don’t worry. I’m sure Tony will be fine. No matter how stupid those guys are, they shouldn’t be able to hurt Tony.” The man comforted Pepper, then asked, “We came back this time to find Tony’s personal belongings. Hmm, preferably something that has been in contact with him for a long time. Of course, if it has fur or something, that would be even better.”
After hearing this, Pepper thought for a moment and said, "I think I know what you're looking for, because his clothes will be disposed of that same day, and things like fur will be destroyed by Jarvis."
Logan, somewhat speechless, said, "The daily lives of you rich people are truly incomprehensible."
Pepper explained simply, "This is to prevent cloning. Well, some secret labs have already achieved human cloning projects. Tony saw this and gave Jarvis this order."
Christine had already put away her own clothes, which were too gorgeous and had a theatrical feel, so she was now wearing a well-tailored office lady outfit. Of course, this wasn't obtained through magic, but rather it was a type of clothing made with nanotechnology materials that could transform into various styles. As long as there was a design, it could become any style of clothing.
“So, what are you talking about?” Christine asked. “Because I need it to find Tony’s location.”
“Please follow me, let’s go downstairs,” Pepper said, leading the way. “This is where Tony usually spends the most time, his workshop. Well, generally speaking, no one but me can go in, so the things here should be helpful.” She looked at Christine with a hint of expectation in her eyes.
“I will try my best.” Christine nodded slightly, then followed Pepper into Tony’s workshop, finally arriving at a toolbox.
“This is his usual tool, well, I should say it’s been his usual tool for the past month or so, because a lot has happened recently, and I haven’t been here,” Pepper explained.
"How about it? It should be okay, right?" the person asked.
Christine didn't speak, but placed her arm on the toolbox, closed her eyes, and carefully sensed something. After a while, she opened her eyes and smiled, "Not bad, Tony's aura is well preserved. It can be used to make magical tools to find Tony. You wait for me for half a minute." With that, she took a small wrench from the toolbox and disappeared with a bang.
"What's wrong with her?" Jean Grey asked, somewhat puzzled.
"They went to make magical items. They should be home now. After all, alchemy is different from ordinary magic; it requires a lot of things." After saying that, the person said, "Alright, everyone just need to wait for half an hour. By the way, Pepper, you haven't told anyone about our arrival here, have you?"
Pepper nodded and said, "Of course not, because I think someone must have betrayed Tony's route when he got into trouble. I really can't trust anyone but you guys right now."
“Well done, I think so too. And the most likely person is that guy Obadiah Stan. Hmph, he must be trying to sneak up on me while I’m not around.” As he spoke of Obadiah, a cold glint flashed in his eyes. He had finally reached his limit.
"Well, we still don't have any evidence on that," Pepper said somewhat awkwardly.
"Well, let's ask Tony when he gets back," the man said somewhat sullenly. Actually, this was still his fault. He had always been influenced by people's moral values and had never thought of obtaining evidence about Obadiah through other means.
This is why Tony, despite his suspicions about Obadiah, didn't take action. The truth is, those people earlier were too emotional, likely due to the influence of another recent memory. They prematurely exposed Athena, causing Obadiah and some powerful figures to distrust computers, or even designing them as internal networks to cut off contact with the outside world. Important evidence was hidden in secret doors in their offices or homes.
Time passed slowly. After waiting at Tony's house for a while, Christine appeared in front of everyone with something that looked like a compass, and then handed it to the person who was flying the fastest.
“Take this and go scout that area. I think you should find it. As for us, to avoid being detected by the enemy, we'll go back to the watchtower and wait. Once you find Tony, we'll volunteer for you immediately,” Christine said.
The man nodded and said, "Okay, that's settled then. Pepper, take care of yourself. Tony should be meeting with you today."
After speaking, Christine and the other two disappeared in a burst of blue light. Then, the man left Tony's villa and flew towards Afghanistan. Because of the high speed of the flight and the signal-blocking function of his clothes, no one or organization noticed that the man had actually returned to Earth.
Holding a compass made by Christine—or rather, a Tony compass—the man flew rapidly over Afghanistan. Because the compass was divinely made, it wouldn't be too fast to find. After about ten minutes, he finally spotted Tony in a valley surrounded by mountains. The compass emitted golden light, indicating that Tony was in the valley below.
"Christine, I've found Tony! I've already sent his location to Athena. You can go directly there when you arrive; I'm heading there first!" Because she was worried about her brother's safety, after discovering his whereabouts, she immediately informed everyone in the watchtower and then plummeted from several thousand meters in the air, flying towards the valley indicated by the compass. 8
Chapter 268 Rescue
Inside the cave, Tony Stark, clad in his Iron Man suit, driven by rage and revenge, walked step by step to the cave entrance. Behind him lay the corpses of nearly thirty or forty terrorists. "You kill one of my friends, I'll kill your whole family"—that's Tony Stark. (Source: [website name])
"As expected, you weren't building the Jericho missile, but something far more powerful. Typical Tony Stark."
Just then, a figure appeared at the cave exit. The figure was shrouded in sunlight, so Tony couldn't see the person's face clearly for a moment.
Tony squinted to avoid the glaring sun and asked, "If you don't want to get hurt, don't block my way!"
"Heh, so you really do compare me to those lackeys behind you." The man took a few steps before Tony could see his face clearly. It was the bald terrorist who had come last night demanding that he deliver the goods today, and he seemed to be the leader of this group.
"If you won't move aside, then die!" Tony didn't want to say anything more at this moment. He snorted and turned on the flamethrower, shooting it at the bald man in front of him.
With a cold snort, the bald man extended his right hand and gently stroked the ruby ring on his finger. A pale red light screen appeared in front of him, helping him block Tony's attack.
"The Ten Rings!" Tony gritted his teeth and said coldly.
“That’s right, you can’t escape Tony Stark. You’d better go back and improve that weapon you’re wearing.” A greedy glint flashed in the bald man’s eyes as he said, “That way I might really let you go.” Of course, at this moment, he wasn’t thinking about these things. Instead, he was thinking about obtaining the method to make the Iron Man mech and using it to achieve his goal of dominating the world of Poison King. Well, in other words, daydreaming.
"I'd like to see how long you can defend yourself!" He did know some rumors about the Ten Rings. Each ring only had one power. Since the other party had a defensive ring, Tony didn't say anything more and continued to attack.
Due to insufficient materials and time, the Mark I armor that Tony is currently building can only perform some simple actions, otherwise it would injure Tony inside. Therefore, the armor's weapons, apart from a gun, a flamethrower, and four small missiles mounted on the right arm, are limited to a single weapon. So, if it weren't for the appearance of the Ten Rings' members using the One Ring, Tony would have had an easy time getting out of here, but now he needs to use some brains.
Tony was getting annoyed by the fact that his attacks were blocked while the opponent's attacks kept hitting him. He pretended to be outmatched and took a step back, but in his mind he was calculating the power of the small missile he had made. He needed a spot where the cave wouldn't collapse after the missile exploded, otherwise everything would be for nothing.
"Haha, Tony Stark, now you have no other tricks up your sleeve, huh? I advise you to surrender obediently and hand over the blueprints of the Jaeger you're wearing!" The bald man laughed loudly, waving his right hand as dozens of terrorists behind him prepared to seize Tony Stark in one fell swoop.
"Even now!" Seeing the terrorists and the bald man's actions, Tony thought to himself, reaching out his right hand. A missile shot out from the nozzle, hitting the first terrorist. A loud bang and a violent explosion occurred. Even Tony himself was knocked back by the shockwave, not to mention the terrorists. They screamed and returned to the Creator's side. Of course, the good news was that Tony's calculations were very accurate. There was no large-scale collapse of the cave, and the collapse did not occur at the exit.
Shaking his somewhat sluggish head, Tony ignored the corpses opposite him and continued walking towards the cave entrance. He'd seen quite a few bodies today, especially those he'd personally killed; he seemed to have grown accustomed to it. Although he knew it wasn't a pleasant feeling, he had no other choice. If he didn't kill these people, they might continue to wreak havoc in this area. Since fate wouldn't take them, then let him be the one to do it.
He struggled forward, feeling as if the previous explosion had injured his ribs, each step causing him pain. Tony's brows furrowed, and he silently prayed for what was happening outside.
Just then, he heard a series of explosions outside, which startled him. He quickened his pace slightly, thinking that someone was coming to rescue him. Sure enough, when Tony finally emerged from the cave, he found that some of the terrorists outside had already been dealt with swiftly by four people. The explosions he had heard earlier were the sounds of Stark Industries' various weapons being destroyed.
"Hey, there's one more here!" A familiar voice came from over, it was Wolverine Logan, but judging from his expression, there seemed to be some misunderstanding.
"What is this thing? Is it a magical puppet?" That was Phoenix's voice.
Hearing this, Tony tried to open his mask, but unfortunately, the mech's mask seemed to have been damaged in the previous attack and was now stuck, unable to pop out automatically. Tony's voice was drowned out by the explosion, which made him somewhat frustrated.
"Alright, stop joking, he's already injured." As he spoke, his brother flew over from a distance, removed his mask, and revealed a face that showed a hint of frustration and relief.
Upon hearing his brother's voice, Tony realized that he had heard the other person's voice very clearly before, but his own voice couldn't be heard. He immediately knew that they were joking.
"I finally escaped from here, and this is how you welcome me?"
"I'm sorry, Tony, I wasn't even on Earth when you had that accident." The only response he received was an apologetic embrace.
"Oh my god, you actually hugged me! Luckily, I'm still wearing this suit." Tony's eyes reddened, and he immediately looked up at the sky, chuckling as he said, "Alright, can you help me take this metal lump apart? I'm really uncomfortable in here. By the way, how did you find me? And how did you know it was me?"
As they carefully released Tony from the houses, they said, "It was more than ten days after we dealt with the meteorite that we heard about your kidnapping. We couldn't find you by Professor X or any other means. Finally, Christine used divine magic to make a compass out of the wrench you usually use, and that's how we found you."
Logan continued, "When we first arrived, Adam already knew you were coming out and weren't in any danger, so we worked together to resolve the crisis outside, and then we played a little joke on you."
"Well, I was almost driven crazy just now. I thought I was going to die at the hands of my own friends instead of terrorists." As Tony walked out of the Mark One, he clutched his stomach and said somewhat dejectedly, "By the way, do you guys have anything to eat? I haven't had much of an appetite in the cave, especially those weird foods. I still prefer the various hamburgers."
Christine said, "Tony, don't move yet. Let me treat your ribs. As for food, we can eat when we get back to New York. I've already notified James; he should be here soon. He's been looking for you in the neighborhood these past few days."
"Thank you," Tony said to Christine. "Okay, I'll bear with it then. Since we're going back, bro, ask Athena to help me inform Pepper to prepare a press conference. I have an important decision that I need to announce today."
The man nodded and said, "No problem. Athena has already informed Pepper. The time is set for around four o'clock in the afternoon. That should give you enough time to take a shower, change your clothes, and then have something to eat."
"Okay, thanks then. Oh, by the way, Christine, you don't need to treat my external injuries. Hmm, I think I look cooler this way!" Tony said to Christine with a smile.
Christine paused for a moment, then looked at the sadness deep in Tony's eyes and said, "Okay, I'll leave some marks, but it'll be fine in a few days."
"Oh, right, brother, I'm sorry, I didn't kill any of the terrorists inside." Tony's expression turned very serious as he said to the person, "As expected, I still can't agree with some of your views."
The man was taken aback, then said, "Special times call for special measures, and these ruthless killers don't even deserve to be called human beings!"
Tony looked at his brother with some surprise after hearing this and said, "I've noticed that you've changed a lot since you woke up."
The man shrugged and said, "It's become even more realistic, hasn't it? I'll tell you later. But to be honest, I never expected you to create such a powerful war machine."
“No, this isn’t a war machine, it’s a sign that I’ve awakened,” Tony shook his head and said, “Don’t worry, I’ll let anyone have it.”
Chapter 269 Press Conference
Soon, James Roddy arrived at the valley by helicopter and took Tony away. Tony had said that he would leave the rest to them and simply wait for news.
Watching the helicopter disappear into the distance, Logan took out a cigar and said, "It seems this experience has matured him quite a bit."
After listening, the person paused for a moment and said, "Yes, you've matured a lot and have also learned about responsibility. Well, let's not talk about it anymore. You've all been very tired these past few days. Go back and rest. If this hadn't happened, I was planning to sleep for a day or two."
Phoenix asked, "Then what do we do here? I can sense that there are still some terrorists inside the cave. Although they are injured, none of them are in mortal danger."
Without even looking up, he said, "Let the army handle it. I think Colonel James has already made arrangements."
Logan shrugged and said, "Well then, we're off. I need to take a good hot shower; after carrying this for so long in space, I feel like I'm stinking, haha."
The man laughed and said, "Well, farewell then. I'll find you for a drink again sometime." After saying goodbye to Logan and Phoenix, he followed Christine into the magic circle and left the valley.
Meanwhile, after Tony returned to the military base by helicopter, he didn't stop. After taking care of his personal hygiene on his private plane, he fell asleep. He had experienced too much that day and was exhausted. If he hadn't made up his mind, he might have stayed for another day before leaving.
James didn't get a chance to speak to Tony during the journey. After boarding the plane, he saw that Tony was already asleep, so he didn't bother to ask Tony about what had happened. A few hours later, when he woke up, he found that Tony had changed his clothes and was drinking, seemingly lost in thought.
"What are you doing? Aren't you going to eat something?" James Roddy walked over, took the glass from Tony's hand, and asked, "Thinking about those things?"
Tony shrugged and said, "I can't sleep."
“I’ve already informed Pepper; she’s waiting for you over there,” James Roddy paused, then continued, “We’ll land directly near your company; the convoy is waiting for us there.”
"Um, thank you," Tony said, quite unusually.
James Roddy looked at Tony with some surprise, then patted him on the shoulder, sat down next to him, thought for a moment, handed Tony his glass, and took one for himself. Since his good friend wanted to drink, he would drink with him.
Tony shook his head after seeing this and said, "I have something important to announce later, so it's not a good time for me to drink. I was just thinking about something earlier."
“I notice you seem to have changed quite a bit,” James said, placing his glass on the coffee table.
"After experiencing some things, I've come to understand some things," Tony smiled but didn't continue speaking. The two of them waited quietly for the plane to land.
After a while, they arrived at a public airport in New York City. After Tony got off the plane, Pepper was already waiting outside. When she saw him get off, she seemed to want to rush up to him, but she restrained herself.
"What, you're crying now that your boss's back safe and sound?" Tony chuckled and said, "Did you take a fancy to me?"
Pepper chuckled and said, "I'm just glad I don't have to look for a job."
“Okay, I guess I was just being presumptuous,” Tony shrugged. “Lend me a shoulder, I need to soothe my wounded heart.” He then gently hugged Pepper, which surprised and delighted her.
Just then, a clueless guy walked over – Tony's bodyguard, Happy. He rushed over and hugged Tony, tearfully telling him how much he missed him, and handed him a bag of food containing Tony's favorite food – hamburgers. Of course, preoccupied with his tears, he didn't realize that Tony only wanted to kill him.
Pepper immediately broke free and said, "The reporters are all waiting for you, but I think you should go to the hospital now."
Tony snatched the hamburger from Happy's hand and started stuffing it into his mouth, saying, "We're heading to the press conference now. Don't worry, I've already been treated before coming. This is just a souvenir."
After hearing this, Pepper asked, "Are you really okay? I mean, you really don't need to go to the hospital?"
Tony nodded and said, "That's right, you know what they're capable of. It's just that they've been busy with Earth these past few days, so I didn't let them come along. After all, I'm not a kid anymore, hahaha." After laughing, he gestured for Happy to drive the car over; they were getting ready to leave.
Pepper said, "Okay, I'll ask Christine. In that case, let's get going. The reporters are waiting for you. Why did you want to hold a press conference today? I mean, you could have rested for a few days and come back later."
Tony finished the large hamburger in one go, and then said, "There are some things that need to be said today."
So the three of them arrived at Stark Industries and met Obadiah Stane, who was smiling at them. A complex look flashed in Tony's eyes. He smiled, hugged Stane, and then walked into the conference room. By this time, the reporters had all arrived. Seeing Tony and his group enter, all the reporters began taking pictures and asking questions very professionally. After all, Tony Stark's rescue was a very exciting piece of news, and no one wanted to miss it.
