After completely annihilating the hundred robot troops, Christine did not relax but instead furrowed her brows even more deeply, because she sensed a dangerous aura approaching her. It could be said that this was the most dangerous time Christine had faced since her awakening, but Christine could not perceive what this crisis was coming from, whether it was a person or a weapon. Therefore, she secretly gathered her divine power and waited very cautiously for the enemy to arrive.
After awakening, under the influence of divine power, Christine could not possibly retreat because of a crisis that had not yet appeared. She did not choose to leave the battlefield immediately but continued to stand there because her dignity as a child of God would not allow her to do so. More importantly, she was testing herself, testing whether she could help Adam in future difficulties, rather than holding him back.
Soon, Christine sensed a magical aura—a teleportation array. This puzzled and shocked her, because to her knowledge, teleportation arrays had been lost, yet she could unmistakably sense their presence. The scene before her eyes proved it. A magic circle composed of circles and triangles, covered in strange runes, suddenly appeared in an open space not far from Christine. Immediately afterward, robots bearing magical runes and ten people in strange costumes emerged from the array.
Standing at the front was a white-haired man wearing a purplish-black robe. In his hand, he held a bone staff made of some kind of animal bone, with a fist-sized crystal skull at the top, which was shimmering with a faint purple light in the sunlight.
"So you are the Sun Goddess? Indeed, you do carry the aura of those hypocrites." The man looked at Christine, speaking without actually moving his mouth.
Christine looked at the man, then glanced at the crystal skull at the top of the bone staff, and sneered, "So you're a remnant of the Mayan pantheon, huh? But judging from your appearance, it seems you haven't mastered Mayan magic."
She finally understood what was causing her sense of crisis. She also understood why the magic circle hadn't been able to conceal its aura. The crystal skull was a divine artifact forged from the corpse of the Mayan pantheon's chief god after his death. It was a weapon specifically crafted to deal with the Olympian gods, and only such a weapon could make Christine, who had fully awakened her divine power, feel threatened.
As for why the gods of Mount Olympus and the Mayan pantheon fought, it's quite normal; it was simply a struggle for territory and human faith. The outcome is obvious: one was forgotten in the long river of history, while the other has continued to this day.
Alright, enough of the digressions. The ten people and the robot inscribed with magical runes that appeared before Christine were Nick Fury's biggest trump card, and the white-haired man at the front was clearly someone who had received the Mayan pantheon's legacy. Since the two sides were locked in a life-or-death struggle, the white-haired man immediately gave the order to attack after confirming each other's identities.
A visible golden light began to shimmer around Christine. This was a sign that she had pushed her divine power to its absolute limit. No wonder Christine was planning to go all out; these were Nick Fury's trump cards, specially prepared to deal with Adam. How could they be so easily defeated as before? And most importantly, that man with the crystal skull—although Christine had just acted as if she looked down on him, that was merely a battle strategy. If she truly underestimated him and became careless, Christine would simply use magic to blast herself to smithereens.
Faced with attacks from magic cannons coming from all directions and the E4 Ten, Christine unleashed her full power. First, she erected a magic shield in front of herself with a 50% chance to reflect enemy attacks, and then she threw all sorts of white and black magic at the Ten as if it were free.
In an instant, all sorts of energy balls and energy attacks flew around the streets shrouded in the energy shield, and the entire shield began to shake irregularly, as if it had reached its limit.
Inside the battlefield, Christine's magical shield successfully blocked the attacks, but she couldn't find an opportunity to counterattack for a while. Just then, a short, middle-aged man appeared beside Christine almost instantly, and a dark light pierced towards Christine's neck.
Upon seeing this, Christine instantly retreated, but the dark light pierced through her protective shield. Without time to think, she quickly erected another magical shield before the next attack arrived. Only then did she notice the short man's hand. Focusing her divine power into her eyes, Christine immediately spotted a dark dagger engraved with Mayan divine symbols in the short man's hand.
'Damn it, it seems they came prepared. I can't keep going on like this. I have to get rid of those troublesome robots first.' Christine thought to herself, casting over a dozen magical shields around herself and then beginning to chant a spell.
Upon seeing this, the white-haired man immediately realized something was wrong and shouted, "Close your eyes!"
Unfortunately, Christine was not a pure human like him, but a child of God. Therefore, not only was her magic casting speed extremely fast, but the power of her magic also reached its peak due to the casting.
This is the magic Christine is chanting now, the signature magic of her mother, the sun goddess Sur. It instantly bursts forth with a burst of intense light, blinding the target. It's not simply making the eyes unable to see, but rather making them only able to see the dazzling sun for a period of time. Moreover, because it uses the original intent of divine power, closing one's eyes is completely useless.
Of course, as the signature divine art of the Sun Goddess, it couldn't be that simple, merely causing blindness. There were also some follow-up attack methods. The blindness was only caused by the intense sunlight converging together, but the real power of this move lay in the subsequent attacks, which used the concentrated sunlight in front to launch the attack.
Of course, if the sun goddess Sur herself had used this move, it would have been much more powerful. However, the current user is Christine, who has only recently awakened her divine power, so she is using a weakened version.
Even so, they successfully rendered the ten unable to continue their attack. Relying on their combat experience, the white-haired man only had time to shout "Retreat!" before immediately leading his men in a retreat. He couldn't worry about the others for the time being and could only pray for their luck. Almost the instant the white-haired man pushed them away, the light that had gathered in front of Christine exploded, engulfing the dilapidated buildings and all the magical robots surrounding her, which had already undergone several battles, and causing them to disappear.
To those outside, or more precisely, to those on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s watchful eyes, it appeared as if an artificial sun-like energy and dazzling light, similar to what had recently appeared in Dr. Otto's lab, had suddenly erupted. When the light faded, nothing in the room was taller than Christine.
Nick Fury stared at the screen in disbelief, exclaiming, "Damn, how is this possible? How can she be more powerful than Superman?"
Hawkeye, standing behind him, also looked surprised, upon hearing his...
OSS replied, "That seems to only have one explanation: either Superman is weaker than his opponent, or Superman has never used his full strength. Hmm, I'm more inclined to the latter conclusion."
Nick Fury sat in his chair, his eyes fixed on the slightly tired woman on the screen. A ruthless glint flashed in his eyes as he picked up the communicator beside him and said, "Mewfahs, report your situation? If they're still alive, attack immediately! We must keep them here today!"
Chapter 242 The Resurrected God
After a brief probing, Nick Fury, head of S.H.I.E.L.D., immediately issued the order to capture Christine. Unfortunately, Fury still underestimated Christine's strength. After a period of fighting, a sudden outburst from Christine caused Fury to lose the magical robot he had painstakingly developed. His trump card, the Ten, was still missing. Seeing that Christine seemed somewhat exhausted, Fury saw this as an opportunity and immediately contacted the leader of the Ten, Mymphony.
In an inconspicuous corner of the battlefield, Muphas raised a protective shield with his crystal skull staff. He glanced at the four people remaining beside him, their faces grim. Just then, he saw Nick Fury contacting him, and with a dark expression, he picked up the communicator.
"I'm fine. Some people died, and now there are only four of us here. How's that bitch doing?" Mufas said through gritted teeth.
Nick Fury felt a pang of sympathy upon hearing that half of his men had been lost, and then said, "They seem somewhat exhausted, but we can't rule out the possibility that it was a trap."
Miufax said calmly, "Nick Fury, take a few men with me and get out of here. I'm going to cause a scene!"
Nick Fury was taken aback and asked, "You don't need their help? You should already know how powerful they are. I think we should seize this opportunity to wipe them out. I don't need them alive; we can use their bodies for research."
Meufas sneered, "If I had come here before, I might have agreed with you, but unfortunately I have already discovered her identity. She is a member of the Olympian pantheon, and she and I are natural enemies. If we meet, one of us must die. So this time I will use a magic that even I cannot control. I may not recognize anyone at that time. Anyone who attacks the Sun Goddess will be my enemy. So let them leave."
Nick Fury immediately replied, "Understood. We will activate the surrounding protective shields to maximum power!" He then immediately ordered the teleportation array to be activated, bringing the four people next to Mifus back to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier.
In the center of the battlefield, Christine stood there feigning exhaustion. Sensing the aura of the teleportation array, she immediately locked onto it, sneered, and said, "Where is it? Your lair!" With that, she took to the air, preparing to fly onto the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier.
Because of the Crystal Skull Staff, she couldn't find Myophas's whereabouts and mistakenly thought he had left, which is why she chased after him, just as Myophas had said. As a member of the Olympian pantheon, even the newly awakened Christine had the duty and responsibility to eliminate the remnants of the Mayan pantheon. It could be said that when they discovered each other, they already knew that they were now in a situation of no return.
Miufas watched Christine fly upwards and coldly said, "It seems the Crystal Staff is indeed powerful. Hmph, die!" He then chanted a spell, and the eyes of the Tax Bureau skull flashed with purple flames. Suddenly, it opened its mouth and shot a beam of purple flame towards Christine in the sky.
Christine had already flown to the top of the protective shield set up by S.H.I.E.L.D., and was just about to violently destroy it when she felt a terrifying surge of energy coming from below. Christine only had time to block it with her divine sword, and with a bang, a purple fireball exploded. Christine groaned as she fell from the sky, crashing heavily to the ground.
Christine struggled to her feet from the human-shaped pit, shook her hair, and said, "I was a little careless. How could the Mayan abominations possibly escape?" Fortunately, when the sun god left, he gave her Athena's armor and divine sword, otherwise Christine might have really been injured this time.
Mifus, enveloped in purple flames, floated above Christine. Hearing Christine's words, he said, "I didn't expect you to have a divine artifact too. But that's more like it. Only in this way can we have a proper fight!" With that, he waved his hands, sending the purple flames flying towards Christine at various angles.
Christine somersaulted to avoid Meufus's attack, casually casting a few white spells to neutralize the remaining purple fireballs. She then picked up her divine sword and launched a sword aura towards her opponent, slowly closing the distance with Meufus. After all, Christine was more proficient in close combat than magic; otherwise, Helios wouldn't have given his daughter the armor and divine sword that Athena had given him.
Myufas seemed to have realized Christine's intentions. He snorted and used his staff to block Christine's divine sword, shouting, "Fire!" The Crystal Skull Staff once again helped Myufas launch an attack, forcing Christine back.
Christine frowned, feeling annoyed as she looked at the staff in her opponent's hand. Every time she was about to defeat her opponent, this crystal staff would start firing various spells that could harm her body, which was very annoying, but she couldn't do anything about it.
In this state of agitation, Christine's attacks became faster and faster, and the rate at which her divine power was being consumed also began to accelerate. In less than half an hour, Christine already felt somewhat exhausted, and it was only at this moment that Christine was jolted awake.
“Damn it, you’ve cursed me!” Christine shouted, staring at Meufas.
Meufas laughed loudly and said, "That's right, I was the one who cursed you. Haha, you didn't expect that, did you? Just a small curse wasted most of your divine power. Aren't you already feeling weak all over? It seems that the Olympian gods are not so great after all."
Upon hearing this, Christine's anger erupted. She was furious at the other party's despicable behavior, and even more furious at herself for being too naive and too dependent on Adam, which almost led to her downfall. As her anger surged, golden flames began to appear on Christine's body, little by little, from nothing to something. Almost instantly, the golden flames enveloped Christine's body. Christine, who was already somewhat weak and standing on the ground, seemed to float in mid-air naturally, her eyes closed, and her hands began to form strange hand seals.
Upon seeing this, Muphas immediately sensed something was wrong and exclaimed, "Second awakening? Damn it, whose descendant is this guy? That's... the Sunfire? Damn it, how can he be a descendant of the Sun God? I'm doomed! Why am I so unlucky to run into this crystal skull's enemy?! Damn it, I don't want to die, get out of my way!!!"
As if sensing something, Myufas let out a mournful roar, as if trying to drive away something. But before he could finish speaking, the crystal skull that had been quietly resting on the top of the staff suddenly flew off, seemingly staring at Christine. After a silent roar, the crystal skull transformed into a purple light and rushed into Myufas's head. Myufas then floated in mid-air like Christine, but unlike Christine, whose body was wreathed in golden flames, Myufas was wreathed in malevolent purple flames.
Time passed slowly, and the two floated quietly in mid-air as if they were asleep. If it weren't for the flames around them that were clearly not ordinary, they might have already been taken away by S.H.I.E.L.D. Unfortunately, there are no "ifs" in this world. So, after losing a lot of manpower, S.H.I.E.L.D. decided to leave Christine and Meufas alone and continue to seal off this block until they woke up.
Just then, Christine, who had been keeping her eyes closed, suddenly opened them. If Adam were here, he would never recognize her. Christine now exuded an aura of superiority, as if no one in the world could be looked down upon by her. Her bright eyes had completely transformed into divine eyes that shimmered with golden flames. The Athena armor she wore had been washed away by the golden flames, removing all the marks that symbolized Athena, and had become a mysterious armor designed specifically for Christine. The longsword in her hand had become a longsword burning with flames, and a golden cloak draped over her back made her look incredibly dashing.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Myophas seemed to have finished his transformation. Looking at the other's slender body, eerie face, eyes flashing with purple flames, and mysterious long legs, it was clear that the other was no longer Myophas himself.
Sure enough, the other party revealed this fact as soon as they opened their mouth: "Ah, you've been sleeping for a long time? Oh, are you the new sun god? Is that guy Helios already dead? Oh, that's great."
After her second awakening, Christine had fully inherited some of Helios's memories. Looking at him, she said, "Tonati, it seems I'll have to disappoint you. My father is living a very good life, with many wives and concubines, enjoying himself immensely. Unlike you, who can only hide your remnant soul in a divine artifact. But unfortunately, from today onwards, there will be no more traces of the Mayan pantheon in this world. One Sun God is enough."

Chapter 243 Untitled!!
Tonati, the sun god of the Mayan pantheon, was once dethroned by Helios, who absorbed his solar fire. Therefore, Tonati is now merely a ghost. With his last breath, he preserved a remnant of his soul and some steps, intending to be resurrected. Unfortunately, the Mayan civilization vanished from the earth shortly after. Had it not been for Mephisto's unexpected arrival at the altar and the special inheritance Tonati had prepared, he might have already perished. However, he was fortunate; Mephisto, following his guidance, slowly restored some of Tonati's remnant soul. Sadly, his luck ran out when Mephisto encountered Christine. During Christine's second awakening, Tonati, believing Helios had arrived and discovered him, desperately tried to possess her, only to discover that she was not Helios at all, thus wasting a chance for complete restoration.
At that very moment, upon hearing Christine's sarcasm, even the most composed Tonati could no longer contain himself. His sinister face twisted completely, and he gritted his teeth, saying, "Damn woman, you have successfully angered me, an ancient god! Since you are the daughter of Helios, then I will torture and kill you, devour your divine power, and then take revenge on Helios!"
Christine said calmly, "Is that so? Then I welcome you to devour my divine power. However, this doesn't seem to be the place for a battle. How about we find another place?" Without waiting for her reply, she unleashed a golden energy shield that tightly enveloped herself. With a sonic boom, Christine vanished.
Upon seeing this, Tonati coldly said, "Do you really think you can escape? Hmph!" With that, he transformed into a streak of purple light and shot through the air.
On the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier, Nick Fury, seeing the two people suddenly disappear from the screen, immediately ordered, "Immediately begin full surveillance of these two people, quick, quick, quick!"
The technicians immediately got to work, and then one of them stood up, pale-faced. He exclaimed, "Oh my god! They...they're right below our warship, rapidly approaching the space carrier!"
Nick Fury was immediately alarmed upon hearing this, saying, "What? They're approaching us? How much time do we have left before we collide? And we need to immediately calculate whether our shields can withstand the impact after they collide with us?"
After a quick calculation, the technician said with a dejected look, "Sorry, sir, the enemy is clearly flying this way. We will probably collide with them in about a minute. According to the energy detector on the enemy, the warship's energy shield will only last for about 5 seconds before it is forcibly breached. In addition, there is the person behind her. We are very likely, no, we are about to suffer two attacks."
Nick Fury's face darkened instantly. He said, "Damn it, connect all the energy to the teleportation array. All senior agents, evacuate immediately. The remaining soldiers, board the fighter jets and leave the warship. The rest of you, find a chance to parachute out."
Hawkeye looked at the data on the screen and said, "It seems they're preparing for revenge, and we happen to be completely powerless to resist. I told you before that these people alone can't fight the Justice League. You need to understand. We haven't seen the Justice League's true strength yet. I mean, those high-tech weapons belonging to Adam Stark—they didn't use them in today's battle. It's obvious..."
“It’s obvious they don’t need any of this to compete with us! They could even defeat us!” Nick Fury picked up where Hawkeye left off, saying, “I know what you mean, Hawkeye. But today is an opportunity for us, a chance to test the Justice League.”
Hawkeye shrugged and said, "I know this is indeed an opportunity, but unfortunately, before we have specific details about Adam Stark, such an experiment is clearly a mistake."
Nick Fury gritted his teeth and said, "I know, but I have to do this. Otherwise, I'll live in the shadow of these superheroes for the rest of my life. I'm not willing to hand over the safety of the Earth to these freaks. The Earth is safe enough with our S.H.I.E.L.D.."
After hearing this, Hawkeye glanced at Nick Fury and said, "In some people's eyes, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are also freaks."
Nick Fury paused slightly without speaking further, waiting for the technicians to operate. After about 45 seconds, the teleportation array was finally fully charged.
"Sir, the teleportation array is ready. Coordinates: Trident Headquarters. Requesting instructions!"
"Activate the teleportation array immediately! All technicians, begin evacuation. Leave the remaining personnel to take the warship out of the city's airspace, then leave it alone. I will have Dawn Corporation compensate for this cost. Although it's not exactly honorable, unfortunately, we don't need honor." Nick Fury immediately gave the order, then disappeared in a semi-transparent blue light.
The very next second that Nick Fury's crew evacuated the Helicarrier using teleportation arrays and fighter jets, Christine suddenly appeared below the warship. Without slowing down, she crashed through the warship's energy shield with a loud bang, blasted a hole in the warship, and then disappeared.
The few technicians left on the warship looked at each other and murmured, "Our energy shield is completely useless. It was broken by the enemy with just one strike. Are we really fighting against such an enemy?"
The squad leader, who was also left behind to clean up, slapped himself hard to wake up, then said to his team, "Alright, use all the remaining energy on the thrusters. Once we're out of New York airspace, we can go home."
The team members below were, after all, a group of elites who had undergone various trainings. After being awakened by their captain, they immediately began to operate, thinking that as long as they could safely leave the skies above New York, they would be fine, and they accelerated forward.
Unfortunately, at that moment, they encountered a second wave of impact. Unlike Christine's restrained energy, Tonati didn't care about the lives of the people on the warship. Therefore, when Tonati transformed into a purple meteor and hit the S.H.I.E.L.D. warship, it did not explode. Instead, the entire warship was vaporized by the purple divine fire on Tonati's body and disappeared.
At the center of the purple meteor, Tonati coldly stared at Christine's retreating figure, and said in a sinister tone, "Little girl, do you really think I would shrink my energy and let you escape for the safety of a few humans? Hmph, you're too naive. Although I do care about these humans, there are plenty of humans on Earth. The death of a few dozen is nothing to me." After saying that, he accelerated and disappeared again.
In a plaza at the headquarters of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury and his team appeared after a beam of semi-transparent blue light, only to find themselves surrounded by a group of soldiers wielding energy weapons.
Nick Fury frowned immediately and asked, "What exactly is going on? Who is your superior?"
After a round of applause, Maria Hill, dressed in a black S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform, appeared on the virtual screen in front of Nick Fury and his team.
"Congratulations, Mr. Nick Fury and everyone aboard the X23-I. Because of you, S.H.I.E.L.D. has not only offended the powerful Justice League, but has also lost one of the only three Helicopters."
“Maria, what do you mean by this? And how did you escape from prison?” Nick Fury was clearly confused as to why Maria Hill was here. Then his expression changed, and he asked, “Could it be…?”
Maria Hill smiled slightly and said, "That's right. The super-criminal prison that we co-created with Adam Stark doesn't just belong to me, Maria Hill, in name only. I am the manager of the entire prison. By locking me up in the prison I manage, you've clearly made a common-sense mistake."
Nick Fury gave a cold laugh and said, "Indeed, I seem to have been a bit too hasty. However, Agent Maria Hill, don't forget that although you are the administrator of that prison, you are not the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Everything you are doing now can be considered a betrayal of S.H.I.E.L.D. Who gave you the right to point a gun at the director of S.H.I.E.L.D."
Maria Hill scoffed, "Betrayed S.H.I.E.L.D.? Hmph, it's you, Nick Fury, who betrayed me! I have a wealth of evidence to prove that you, Nick Fury, are a Hydra spy planted in S.H.I.E.L.D., and I have reported everything to the Council. My authority was granted to me by the members of the Council. You lost, Nick Fury!!! From the moment you went against Adam Stark, you lost. You lost your composure, and you are no longer worthy to be the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.!"
Ps:
I can't think of a title for this chapter, so I'll leave it at that for now. Happy Chinese New Year everyone! Hmm, it seems like there are still two weeks left. Does that mean my update schedule will be longer?
Chapter 244 One Year
In the endless darkness, Adam Stark, dressed in a Superman suit, was fighting a man who looked very much like him. There were no techniques, no fancy moves, just a straightforward, brutal fight. Finally, Adam roared, "You will never replace me! I am the real Adam Stark!" A flash of light suddenly illuminated the entire space, and then Adam Stark lost consciousness once again.
"Here we go again. What's the story this time? Oh, isn't this my lovely Athena? And this old man, I think, shouldn't it be Professor Charles?" A slightly flirtatious voice came from the man lying on the bed.
