At the same time, Wu Qiu took a look at the guy.
Name:?
Rating: 3
Sex: Male
age:?
Information: Ten Thousand Ghosts Wooden Board-Level Assassin.
"Holy crap! Level three, even lower than Sister Ying's level!"
Wu Qiu really didn't expect that the Hilichurl in front of him was only level three. No wonder his strength was no match for Ying.
However, this guy is very fast and agile, and has a high level of intelligence. Although his fighting style is very simple, relying on sneak attacks, it has to be said that he is really cunning.
"What exactly do you want from us?!"
Ying pointed the ice mark at him. The wooden assassin, however, chuckled sinisterly.
On a side note: "I've always been curious about what exactly that 'hehehe' laugh is like."
"Hand over the stuff, and I might let you die a little easier."
"Things? What things?" Wu Qiu asked curiously. The wooden assassin pointed at Ying, "It's on you. Give it to me, or else..."
As he spoke, he took out two short knives. Ying, of course, was not afraid of him and gripped Ice Mark tightly, taking the initiative to meet him.
The two started fighting immediately. Ying had a clear advantage in strength, but her opponent was very cunning.
It doesn't fight Ying at all. It neutralizes Ying's attacks with force deflection every time they collide.
Although Ying is very agile, her opponent clearly has the advantage in that aspect. During a lull in the attack, this guy slipped out from Ying's side and came straight at me.
......................................................
"Hey! Didn't you say the thing was on Ying? What the hell do you want from me?!"
After saying that, I picked up Paimon and turned to run. But how could the two of us possibly outrun a Hilichurl?
Just as they were about to be caught up, Ying finally caught up. Her sudden burst of speed was so fast that she blocked their path.
The attack was swift and fluid; the moment the Ice Mark appeared in his hand, it pierced towards the charging Hilichurl. The strike was swift, accurate, and ruthless, and was about to succeed.
But the Hilichurl let out a cold laugh. Then it leaped up, its twin blades crossed and resting on the back of Lumin's sword.
He miraculously dodged the attack at the last second, simultaneously spinning and rolling, wielding his short swords in mid-air. When he landed, the swords were stained with a hint of blood.
Ying's already injured shoulder and smooth back both had a scar. This scar wasn't serious; it probably wouldn't even be considered a minor injury to Ying.
But Wu Qiu was stunned by what he saw. Ying was injured, but that wasn't the most important thing. The important thing was...
The opponent is clearly weaker than her... Yes! The opponent is clearly weaker than her. Luminous is someone who can easily kill monsters of a higher level, but now... Now she has been challenged by this Hilichurl, and Luminous can be said to have lost.
In terms of strength, stamina, endurance, and speed, Ying is superior to her opponent and also possesses absolute weapon superiority. The only area where Ying is slightly better is agility.
Even so... Ying lost in this short exchange. Although it was only one round, a loss is a loss.
Of course, there were reasons to save Wu Qiu and the others, as well as the fact that Ying herself was injured. But it must be admitted that the Hilichurl in front of them had completely surpassed Ying in terms of performance and strategy in battle.
The battle continues, and the fight between Luminosity and the Hilichurls is fierce. However, the disparity in strength is beginning to emerge.
Ying was constantly on the defensive, not because she was weak, but because her opponent's fighting style was too unpredictable. Every attack was fast and ruthless, and the positions were always tricky.
After a few rounds of fighting, if the opponent finds an opportunity, Ying can only be on the defensive and has no chance to attack.
After forcing Ying to take two steps back with a jump attack, this guy suddenly leaped backward. Can you imagine? This guy, lying on the ground, charged towards Wu Qiu.
"Holy crap, here we go again!"
Wu Qiu was speechless. He and Paimon had been anxiously waiting nearby, and had been thinking of throwing a stone to harass the other side.
But Wu Qiu gave up after the stone nearly hit Ying on the head. He had originally planned to see if there were any other opportunities to help.
Now, things have gotten even worse; before the opportunity even presented itself, this one just happened to come crashing down on them. And Wu Qiu had been wondering what grudge this person held against them, why they were constantly targeting them.
Do Paimon and I look easy to bully? Uh... we do seem easy to bully.
But you don't have to act so real, do you? Besides, this isn't right either. Other people only resort to hostage-taking when they can't win a fight. You think you can beat them, yet you still resort to hostage-taking? Don't you have any shame?
Before they could continue complaining, Wu Qiu and Paimon quickly retreated and ran away. They thought it was going to be another dangerous situation.
Strangely, this Hilichurl, whether due to difficulty controlling its direction or something else, did not chase after Wu Qiu and the others, but instead crashed into the fire.
"Ugh, that idiot, he just went straight for the fire..."
Wu Qiu was about to make a few sarcastic remarks, but suddenly stopped. "Damn it! This guy's target is the campfire."
Wu Qiu realized that the attack on him and Paimon was just to mislead Ying; his real purpose was to extinguish the fire.
It's important to understand that although Ying seems to be at a disadvantage now, once she gets used to his fighting style, coupled with her inherent advantage in stamina, the final victory is not necessarily guaranteed.
But things are different once the fire goes out. Darkness is an advantage for Hilichurls, and these assassins of the ghouls are skilled at fighting or assassinating in the dark.
If the fire goes out, then it will be almost impossible for Luminous to win. With her vision severely obstructed, facing a Hilichurl that is elusive, deadly, and agile, Luminous's chances of winning are extremely slim, and she could even be in mortal danger if she is not careful.
Seeing that the creature was about to reach the fire, Wu Qiu panicked and, without thinking twice, grabbed Paimon, who was still flying around looking bewildered, and threw him over.
"Huh? Whoa!!!!!!!!!"
Paimon let out a scream and then shot straight at the Hilichurl. The Hilichurl, thinking it was some kind of projectile, spun in mid-air and dodged it.
But this also caused him to pause for a moment. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Wu Qiu grabbed the nearby campfire.
The fire was made up of several small branches and a large log. Wu Qiu simply abandoned the small branches, picked up the large log, and ran.
"Ah! It's hot! It's so hot! So ...
Wu Qiu ran and shouted. Looking at Paimon, having missed her target, she continued forward until she crashed into a tree.
Fortunately, it wasn't serious. He wobbled into the air, remembering how Wu Qiu had treated him earlier. He immediately turned to confront Wu Qiu.
But when she turned around, she saw Wu Qiu rushing towards her with a still-burning piece of wood in his arms.
"Hot! It's burning me! Little Paimon! Catch it!!!"
As he spoke, Wu Qiu threw the piece of wood in his hand forward. Paimon instinctively caught it, followed by a scream.
"Ouch!!!! It's hot, so hot, so hot, it's burning Paimon!"
With that, he threw the piece of wood to the ground. Wu Qiu's heart skipped a beat at the sight, but the Qiuqiu had already broken free of Ying's obstruction once again and was heading towards them.
"Little Paimon! Bring the fire over here!"
I quickly shouted. Paimon realized the seriousness of the situation, so without hesitation, he flew to the fire and kicked the piece of wood at me.
Wu Qiu found two relatively damp leaves and lifted the fire, finally freeing his hands from burning.
But a new problem arose. Wu Qiu couldn't go too far, because if he went too far, the firelight wouldn't reach him, and by then it would be almost as if there was no light at all.
But getting too close is too dangerous, and the flames have shrunk considerably after all that commotion, so the light is very limited.
Therefore, they must find a way to break the deadlock quickly, otherwise they will really be in trouble.
Chapter Twenty-Three: Red, Diamonds
"Pay, Paimon! Catch!"
Wu Qiu shouted and threw the piece of wood in his hand. The Hilichurl was too agile, and with the light already very dim, Ying couldn't stop him at all.
And this guy was determined to put out the fire first. I don't know if it was obsessive-compulsive disorder, but he didn't fight Ying head-on. He just kept chasing Wu Qiu or the fire.
Wu Qiu and Paimon also found a desperate solution. It was a very old-fashioned one: the two of them stood on opposite sides, and whenever a Hilichurl came close, they would throw the fire to the other.
This method actually worked; after a few rounds, it really confused the Hilichurls. But as mentioned earlier, these Hilichurls aren't stupid; they're quite intelligent.
After realizing that it was impossible to get a campfire under such circumstances, this guy wasn't going to be fooled like a monkey.
He lunged straight at Paimon. Seeing this, Paimon didn't hesitate to throw the fire to Wu Qiu.
But when Paimon saw that the Hilichurls hadn't chased after the fire, but instead were charging fiercely at him with their twin blades, Paimon panicked.
"Hey! There it is, the fire is over there, not here! You...you stay away!"
Paimon turned and ran, but how could he possibly outrun a Hilichurl? Seeing that he was about to be caught, Wu Qiu picked up a campfire and didn't care about anything else.
He yelled at the Hilichurl, "Fuck you!!!!!!!!!!"
Immediately afterwards, the piece of wood in his hand was thrown out hard, forming an arc as it hurtled towards the Hilichurl.
The Hilichurl keenly sensed the attack from behind, a smile flashing across its face beneath its mask. It then spun in mid-air and unleashed a slash.
Sparks flew, and the last glimmer of light went out. While Wu Qiu's actions saved Paimon, they also extinguished the light that represented their only advantage.
"Hehehe, in that case, you guys will..."
In the darkness, the Hilichurl's voice rang out, but stopped halfway through. By the moonlight, Wu Qiu saw something bright pierce through the Hilichurl's chest.
Wu Qiu could vaguely see Ying's figure. Although Ying's figure was blurry behind the Hilichurl, Wu Qiu could still make out her.
"Darkness is not just your advantage. If your plan cannot encompass the whole picture, then this outsider will be your fatal weakness."
The Hilichurl drew its ice blade, trembled a few times, and then collapsed to the ground. Picking up the still-burning embers, adding some dry grass, Firefly rekindled a campfire.
When the firelight flared up again, Wu Qiu could see Ying, and of course, the Hilichurls lying dead at her feet.
Wu Qiu finally understood the meaning behind Ying's words. The Qiuqiu people always believed that as long as the fire went out, they would have an absolute chance of victory.
As it turned out, Wu Qiu thought the same way. But Wu Qiu hadn't considered whether Ying would necessarily become weaker in the darkness? Or rather, was Ying truly unable to deal with him in the dark?
Most importantly, the Hilichurls' idea was simple: attack Paimon first, so we couldn't pass the campfire.
The method worked, but he subconsciously excluded Ying. This is why Ying said, "If your plan cannot encompass the whole situation, then those outside the plan are your weakness."
So, in conclusion, was what Paimon and I just did even meaningful...?
"Sister Ying, you can handle the darkness, but you didn't say anything. You made the two of us run around with the fire for ages. Look at how I got burned, I'm blistered."
Paimon also looked at Ying with a resentful gaze. Ying chuckled, "Isn't it inconvenient? I can't just shout directly, otherwise the other person will be on guard."
Paimon nodded and said, "Yes, we really shouldn't shout. After all, this Hilichurl is very strong. It would be really difficult for Sister Luminous to deal with him."
As she spoke, she glanced at Wu Qiu, her eyes seeming to say, "Shouldn't you explain what happened earlier?"
Wu Qiu pretended not to see it and looked at Ying in surprise, saying, "Sister Ying, don't you feel a little frustrated? After all, you were defeated by someone weaker than yourself."
Wu Qiu was genuinely curious about this, since Ying was able to handle ordinary Hilichurls stronger than herself quite well, yet she suffered a loss against a Hilichurl killer weaker than herself.
