More than one person entered—Professor Snape, Professor McGonagall, Mr. Filch, and Headmaster Dumbledore.
When they all came in, William realized that Percy was following behind, completely oblivious to his presence.
“Severus informed me that he had discovered something very interesting,” Dumbledore said casually, as if Professor Snape were about to present a regular paper. “Then I ran into Percy in the castle corridor, and the boy was running frantically toward the owlhouse.”
Percy smiled sheepishly and continued to remain inconspicuous.
But William was now more curious about what magical thing had happened that would make Snape choose to inform the headmaster immediately.
“Professor William, thank you for keeping an eye on this from the beginning,” Dumbledore said with a smile. “Severus, could you please repeat what you discovered?”
"Of course, Dumbledore."
Professor Snape, who had entered William's office with an expression of 'How could the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor have stooped to this level in his office' and looked around with disdain, finally abandoned his look of disgust and responded to the headmaster.
“Filch’s memory has been erased, and the few remaining fragments show that Miss Ginny Weasley—” he read the name with a hint of disgust, “took a piece of parchment from among the things Mr. Filch had confiscated.”
“Parchment?” William repeated softly—wasn’t it a crown?
"Perhaps it has been destroyed, but that's not the point. The point is that Miss Ginny Weasley didn't use any Imperius Curse or any other control spells. She used only the power of words to make Mr. Filch drop the matter of her transgression, and quite naturally—something I couldn't do either."
Just narrate the story, why bother with the pretense of a conclusion...
William, feeling slighted, muttered a complaint and immediately fixed his gaze on the broken crown—such a tattered thing, yet it provides such a high boost to wizards?
His gaze shifted so suddenly that everyone else couldn't help but stare at the tattered crown.
"This? Albus? Could this be..."
Professor McGonagall's tone became unusually agitated.
"It should be just as you think, Minerva."
Dumbledore's voice remained steady, but he quickly stepped forward and began to observe carefully from a distance.
“Yes, it is—the Ravenclaw tiara.”
Chapter 141 The Crown That Drives People Crazy
Ravenclaw's tiara?
William's lack of magical knowledge was exposed once again—although he knew from the name that this magical item could be called legendary, he had never actually heard of this magical item before.
But there were discerning people in the house.
"The Ravenclaw tiara? That tiara that grants its wearer unparalleled wisdom? But it's missing, isn't it?"
Percy's surprised voice broke the brief silence in the room, and Professor McGonagall turned her gaze away from the crown. "Yes, that's it, but it's happened again today—"
William noticed a rather brief pause from Professor McGonagall before she uttered Percy's name. "Percy, it's clear Miss Weasley found it."
This little discovery almost made William laugh out loud—Professor McGonagall liked to address all her students by their last names, but with a bunch of Weasleys present, that routine just wouldn't work.
He was quite relaxed at the moment. He no longer needed to rack his brains to guess the murderer. The suspect in the rooster death case was lying quietly on his desk, waiting for the next investigation.
The presence of Dumbledore, the first white wizard, made him feel extremely safe—no matter how complex or seductive that crown was, it couldn't possibly trap Dumbledore, right?
Or perhaps someone will emerge from the room claiming to be a White Zetsu, pull out a wand, and say something heartfelt to Dumbledore.
What a joke! If something like that really happened, William would have run away without a second thought.
But now only William, who didn't know much about the background of the crown, had the leisure to think about other things. Everyone else, even Dumbledore, had all their attention focused on the crown.
“Professor William, please go and inform Professor Flitwick to come over.” After observing for a while, Dumbledore stood up and said softly to William, then turned to Principal McGonagall, “Minerva, go and find Ms. Grey; she should be here too.”
Before William could react, Dumbledore looked at Percy again.
"Percy, are you seventeen yet?"
"I'm still a year away from becoming a professor. My birthday is in August."
“Then, go and inform Mr. Weasley and the others that some investigation requires their accompaniment.”
"You're not going to fire Ginny, are you, Professor?" Percy finally realized what was happening, his voice rising several octaves. "No, Professor, Ginny doesn't understand anything. It's my fault for not managing her well..."
"Don't worry, Percy, it's just a necessary investigation. This is more serious than I thought, and I need to get some things sorted out. I assure you, Ginny won't be fired."
Dumbledore's assurances were quite effective; Percy calmed down immediately, but William noticed he was starting to glare at the twins.
But this is the best he can do – he has to go call Professor Flitwick.
-
"Ravenclaw's tiara?"
Professor Flitwick, who had been called out of class by William, laughed as if he had heard a joke.
“Professor William, that’s a good joke, but I’m still teaching—it’s long gone.”
"It's true, Dumbledore is there too."
William emphasized the last part of the name.
The name Dumbledore was quite persuasive, and Professor Flitwick's expression instantly changed from "Don't joke around" to ecstatic joy.
"Albus is here too! Just a moment, Professor William, I'll be right there, just right..."
The professor, who was known for his composure, was now filled with impatience. He rushed back to the classroom, assigned self-study tasks to the students, and then hurriedly ran out again.
Where is it? The principal's office?
William suspected that Professor Flitwick's eagerness made him think he was about to use Apparition at any moment.
“My office, Professor.”
As William spoke, he quickly turned and led the way—he was afraid that Professor Flitwick might lose control at any moment.
"Ravenclaw's only relic! I can't believe I've heard this—Professor William, are you sure it really is the Ravenclaw tiara?"
Professor Flitwick walked incredibly fast, almost as if he were flying, but even so, he still checked the information with William again.
"Dumbledore said yes, and I've never seen the real thing, but I think it should be the same."
"Then what are we waiting for, Professor William? Young people need to be energetic!"
You're practically flying, Professor!
Urged on by Professor Flitwick, William returned to his office in less than half the time it would have taken to find him. Professor McGonagall was still not back when William opened the door. Only Dumbledore, who was engrossed in his study, and Weasley, who was standing and lying down in the background, were there.
However, Professor Flitwick's focus had completely shifted away from the students.
The short professor's eyes were immediately drawn to the tattered crown. The panting from his frantic run vanished almost instantly, as if breathing would destroy the crown.
He gazed at the tattered crown from a distance, scrutinizing every angle of it.
"That's it—that's it."
Professor Flitwick's voice was soft, but anyone could hear the barely suppressed excitement in it.
"Is it really that bad?"
William was puzzled; he couldn't quite understand why things were like this—after all, his magic was too unbalanced.
However, he still maintained the proper respect, keeping a serious expression as a background figure until the Weasley brothers behind him tried to approach him.
"What are you two doing?"
William asked in a low voice—although the two Weasleys were making some small moves at the moment, he was extremely lenient with the twins.
"Professor, could you come out for a moment?"
George asked in a low voice.
William nodded in approval at the two brothers who had helped him solve a major problem.
-
"Professor, have we brought the perpetrator back as you instructed?"
The two brothers looked very sincere.
"Of course, you've done a great job, the lockdown will be shortened by a week."
It turned out they were there to confirm the award. William smiled and kept his promise, "And because of your excellent performance, I will apply to the school for a small bonus. Of course, it won't be much, so don't have too high expectations."
He would report back to Professor McGonagall later—her students had caught a criminal, and a small reward would easily be approved. Of course, the probability of only receiving academic credits was not low either; William could simply pay for it himself. Compared to a small amount of Galleons, the resolution of this matter made him exceptionally happy.
"That's wonderful, Professor!" the two cheered softly, but quickly added, "Then, Professor, what about the crown as a reward? We don't need extra points or anything, we just want to wear it for a little while, just a short while, please, Professor!"
A broken crown—are you all so obsessed?
The two men's attitude made William hesitant to make any promises. He wanted to subtly inquire about what kind of entity it was.
Chapter 142 Fragmented Memories
After asking a few questions, William immediately realized how embarrassing his knowledge of magic was.
Hogwarts has been established for nearly a thousand years. Gryffindor's sword makes an occasional appearance, the Sorting Hat was created by Gryffindor himself, and Slytherin's wand is still buried in America (Note 1). The snake tree there is growing luxuriantly.
Not to mention Hufflepuff, whose common room is filled with books left by Hufflepuff that surpass all the founders' collections, while Ravenclaw left behind no relics at all.
'No wonder Professor Flitwick was so excited. If it weren't for the unbroken tradition since its founding, Ravenclaw College would soon have become something neither sacred, nor Roman, nor Imperial.'
In the magical world, purebloods hold the most power. Every pureblood likes to bring out old artifacts to show off their family's long history and pure bloodline. Although Professor Flitwick himself doesn't care much about this, he has probably been laughed at by purebloods for it many times.
Although William hadn't heard similar jokes in Azkaban, he still felt his guess was plausible, given the rumors circulating.
But its historicity is secondary—this crown is a top-tier magical artifact that has been recognized as being able to make people wise enough to solve most problems!
'No wonder those two little rascals are so obedient; they're either trying to use their connections to solve their exam problems or they're up to some new tricks.'
However, William was not averse to such a cunning idea—to be honest, he had the same thought when he heard it, using the crown to directly understand books he couldn't comprehend, thereby greatly improving his strength.
“I will do my best to persuade Professor Flitwick, but I can’t make any guarantees. Neither of you are allowed to tell anyone about this. If Professor Flitwick really agrees, I won’t be able to control those Ravenclaw kids when they find out!”
The two nodded like chicks pecking at rice—if only they were always this well-behaved.
"Professor William?"
Professor McGonagall's voice came from afar, and behind her, a ghost floated by nonchalantly.
"Why don't you go in, Professor William?"
'Mrs. Grey is a ghost? Why would Dumbledore summon a ghost? This isn't a cultivation world; do magical artifacts need spirits?'
