Author's Note on the Launch of Chapter 89
It's time for my thoughts on the product launch.
I feel a little lost sitting in front of the computer.
It's not the kind of bewilderment that comes from drawing a sword and looking around aimlessly, but rather the kind of bewilderment that comes from being physically and mentally exhausted.
Fate has been cruel; that's the only way to describe the time since I started writing this book. It's all tears when I try to talk about it. My normal routine was disrupted on the third day after I started writing, and it wasn't until a few days ago.
In the crucial days leading up to the book's release, I won't resort to sob stories; I can only take a deep breath and secretly rejoice that I haven't stopped updating.
I'm exhausted now, so I'll light a cigarette, sit down, and chat with you all, sharing my thoughts.
Since this is from the heart, let's start with a flashback.
When I wrote about Professor Zhou Congwen in 2002, the book was published in a rush and the initial subscription was not good, which made me seriously doubt myself.
I feel that I wrote it quite well, and the pacing was also very tight, but the results were just not good.
I'm not young anymore, so I don't have time to complain. If my grades aren't good, it's definitely because my writing isn't good. But even if it's not good, I still have to write a complete story; that's a promise.
On September 1st, the book club members were discussing voting for monthly tickets. Just when I was about to give up and play offline, everyone else hadn't given up yet, and several people voted for dozens or even hundreds of monthly tickets in one go.
I ranked 44th on the monthly ticket list, not high, but enough. From then on, the number of new favorites increased every day, and subscriptions steadily rose, eventually reaching 8,000, though not quite 10,000.
Honestly, my palms sweat every time I recall this incident.
The quality of the book is certainly the most important thing, but the collective effort is equally important.
Once it appears on the list, both new and old readers will think that Old Bear's book seems pretty good, and then click to take a look.
And so, what followed came about.
I have low emotional intelligence, mild social anxiety, and don't like to chat in groups much; I just leave a few groups unattended and occasionally peek at them. (Tomorrow's update includes a section about a rant I saw from anesthesiologist Xiao Ma, which I thought was pretty awesome, so I used it.)
I happened to see the discussion about voting at the time, so I took screenshots. I won't go into details here, but I'm always grateful whenever I think about it.
Then another thing happened—Qiyang Alliance was organizing a crowdfunding campaign for a Golden Alliance. I saw the news while waiting at a red light. When I got home a dozen minutes later, the crowdfunding campaign had already reached 38% completion.
Emmm, I stopped the Golden Alliance thing. That day, I said a lot of heartfelt things in the group that I wouldn't normally say.
Being able to vote and subscribe is already a great kindness; it doesn't warrant such extravagance...
That's how complicated and contradictory it is.
But it's not about having it both ways. To be honest, I'm really grateful for your support in voting for me and subscribing on the Qidian main site.
Honestly, grades are indeed a very important thing.
So please vote! Good writing naturally gets more votes, that's for sure. I'll keep writing and updating, and I'll continue to bother you with your votes in the future.
As for the plot, I will do my best to polish it.
For example, the original outline for 2002 was to win the world number one award three times, but after finishing the second one, his passion was exhausted, and he knew that writing more would just be padding the word count, so he directly cut a part of the outline.
Although the results were decent, and I wanted to write more, the story is already finished, so let's end it here.
They do have that much professional ethics.
A complete story is important. Although many things cannot be written directly, they can always be expressed by carefully reading between the lines.
The flashback is over.
I just mentioned two moments from the ten months I spent writing about 2002. Others, like one morning when Xiaoyu suddenly asked me to help him increase his bookmarks, or one day when a fellow reader pulled me aside to talk about "The Sleepless Healer," or countless other moments, are all etched in my memory.
As people get older, they tend to reminisce, lol. Looking back, the book "2002" was quite well-made, with a clear plot, making it a decent example of a fast-paced, enjoyable read.
Back to "The Healing Doctor".
This book boldly explores two points—empathy and the gaze of a senior doctor.
Because of the changes, I'm not sure what my readers will like, and I'm incredibly nervous. Even when I started writing, my heart was pounding, I was tense and anxious, and I talked to the editor at Huya for a long time.
Calling myself a novice writer is not an exaggeration; I genuinely believe that.
I've always been cautious and meticulous in my planning, as if walking on thin ice; I've been working hard at writing, never daring to slack off.
The scroll has been unfurled, and many interesting things have been conceived. Let me tell you about them little by little.
It will be available tomorrow morning. I can't schedule it; I'll update it whenever I get up.
I've updated 16,000 times. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I have a limited number of drafts on hand, but I will make up for it with hard work.
When it's time to explode, it will explode; when it's time to update more than 10,000 words a day, it will be more than 10,000 words a day. There are no excuses.
So, what follows is just the usual routine.
After saying all that, I mainly want to share my personal experience. Every monthly pass and every subscription is very important.
It's going to be available for purchase tomorrow, so let's shout it out loud—please vote for me and subscribe!
I bow in gratitude to all my dear readers who have supported me in the past, present, and future.
Please vote for me!
Please subscribe!!
Well then, see you tomorrow!
He bowed deeply, at a ninety-degree angle, his old back creaking.
