Marvel: I am Iron Man
Chapter 70 See you soon
Laufey is dead.
As the storm subsided, the icy magic vanished with the wind, leaving only the remains of the frost giants scattered on the ground.
Next came the battlefield cleanup.
Thor stared blankly at his comrade-in-armor, who had just been standing shoulder to shoulder with him, as the operator of the red and gold armor began to fire at the ground in a very strange manner.
He didn't spare Laufey or the frost giants; they were all blasted to pieces.
Thor was stunned: "You...do you have a grudge against them?"
No.
Tony said casually.
"We've only met for one day, what grudge could we possibly have?"
But talking didn't stop him from continuing to fire his cannon, turning the corpses on the ground to dust.
On the one hand, it's to prevent someone like Laufey from coming back to life and seeking revenge someday; on the other hand, it's to prevent alien corpses from falling into the hands of S.H.I.E.L.D., the troublemakers.
An alien corpse was left in the wilderness. Some laboratories took it for research, extracting its serum in an attempt to create some kind of frost super soldier. Then the experiment failed, and the test subject went berserk...
That's a classic.
Caution was Tony's creed. To prevent this possibility from happening, he simply scattered the alien's ashes, leaving the scavengers with nothing to scavenge.
Finally, Tony didn't forget to thaw the SHIELD agents who were frozen solid, giving them a second chance at life. They were probably too frozen to move for a while, but SHIELD backup and medical teams should arrive soon.
"You are an incredible mortal," Thor exclaimed. "I never knew that such a powerful iron warrior had emerged among mortals."
Asgardian culture instills respect for the strong, and Thor himself is the kind of person who believes that "those who have fought together are brothers." Although he hasn't seen who's behind that steel mask yet, he already feels a bit of goodwill towards them.
"Your illusionary skills are impressive too, they remind me of my brother Loki," Thor said. "I thought only Loki liked this kind of...scheming."
Tony probably intended to use a word like "insidious" to describe Big Hammer, but he felt that such a word was inappropriate to describe his brother or his newly acquainted comrade-in-arms, so he changed it to "cunning".
Using illusions to deceive people is indeed a common trick of Loki's, and in some ways it's similar to the dual-structure holographic technology he just used. No wonder it left a deep impression on Thor.
"Thanks for the compliment, but this is technology," Tony said. "While I'd love to chat with aliens a little longer, I imagine you have something urgent to attend to?"
"Yes."
Thor's expression darkened as he thought of Loki.
He didn't believe Laufey's words, nor did he want to believe them. Laufey said it was all Loki's doing, but how could that be? They were brothers, family.
But he had to get back to Asgard immediately; he had to see for himself.
"I...I must go, my friend," said Thor. "I must return to Asgard, I must..."
He shook his head, seemingly a little irritated, and as he spoke, he began swinging a hammer, which spun in his hand like a windmill.
"We'll definitely have a good chat next time we meet," Saul said.
"Okay. But you'd better keep a close eye on your hammer this time, don't lose it again," Tony said half-jokingly.
"Ha, no. This was an accident. My hammer only recognizes me; only Thor can lift it." Thor said confidently. "You helped me fight Laufey when I was powerless, so I owe you today, Iron Man. But it won't happen again."
Having said that, he raised the hammer, which he had been swinging like a windmill, into the air, and his entire body soared into the sky. A sonic boom exploded in mid-air, and Thor disappeared into the horizon.
"Does Hammer only recognize you...?"
Tony smiled and, in turn, maneuvered his armor into the air to begin the return journey.
Here's a joke: Meow Meow Hammer is loyal to Hammer Bro.
Although the hammer was initially portrayed as a monogamous character, supposedly unable to lift anyone but Thor, it's common knowledge that people enjoy seeing good people fall into depravity. Given this monogamous character, writers throughout Marvel comics history have consistently used this trait to create drama.
Thus, in the history of Meow Meow Hammer comics, the number of people who can lift the hammer has been increasing day by day due to various specific situations and strange reasons.
For example, Captain America, Vision, Jane Foster, the alien Thor from the comics, Black Widow from a parallel universe, and even Superman from the official DC crossover comics...
So, looking back over the decades, wow, the single-minded hammer that was there back then could now have enough exes to form a football team.
If this continues for another fifty years, this thing will eventually become an "Asgardian shared hammer, scan the code to lift it for free the first time"...
Of course, that's an exaggeration, but that's roughly the idea.
Anyway, this hammer adheres to the three no's principle of "no rejection, no responsibility, no explanation", and who can lift it depends entirely on the mood of the hammer itself.
It is commonly known as "the swinging of ten thousand people".
The timeline has obviously changed a lot compared to the Thor movie, but in the end, Thor regained his powers and flew back to Asgard.
Moreover, thanks to the butterfly effect created by Tony, Thor awakened his divine powers ahead of schedule, making him a level stronger than in the original timeline.
That way, when Thor returns to Asgard, things might be easier to resolve than in the original story. With a bit of luck, Loki might not have fallen off the Bifrost, thus avoiding Thanos and preventing the Chitauri's massive invasion of Earth in The Avengers...
The first decade of Marvel movies was like a domino effect, with each link connected to the next; the breakage of any one link would have a cascading impact on the rest. This is evident in the "What If" series of animated spin-offs.
The Battle of New York wouldn't have happened if Loki hadn't fallen off the Rainbow Bridge, and the Battle of New York was the first major turning point in the MCU, with many important implications for future generations...
Forget about that for now.
Tony set the Mark 7 to automatic flight return mode, took off his remote control headband, and let out a long sigh of relief.
In short, we've overcome another hurdle and dealt with the trouble caused by the Frost Giants.
There's still a lot to do.
After the Mark 7 returned to Earth, Tony immediately donned the armor and flew back to his home in New Mexico.
After Tony returned, he asked Jarvis to arrange for the Mark 7 to undergo routine maintenance. He took a nap to replenish his energy, and after getting up, he ate breakfast while preparing to check his to-do list as usual.
But Tony never expected that the chance to meet again, which Thor had said yesterday, would come so soon.
Jarvis: "Sir, a strong spatial energy reaction has been detected."
Tony was startled: "Where?"
"Right here...right at our doorstep."
Tony was taken aback and hurriedly ordered the armor to be prepared, while also asking Jarvis to retrieve the surveillance footage from outside the door.
Then, through the surveillance footage, it was seen that a beam of white light fell from the sky like a waterfall of light, crashing onto the open ground outside his villa.
With a red cloak billowing behind him, Da Chui, holding a divine hammer, half-squatted down on the open ground in front of his door.
Tony: "?"
