Marvel: I am Iron Man
Chapter 67 Mortal Powerhouse
"Drink!"
Thor roared and swung his axe with almost all his might. The mechanical battle axe slammed down on the frost giant, who was stunned by the surrounding gunfire. Thor chopped off one of the giant's arms, and the giant howled in pain.
Thor raised his arms and shouted, and everyone moved forward in response.
The frost giant with the severed arm screamed and fell backward. Thor jumped directly onto its face and swung his axe wildly, hacking away as if the axe had dulled, before the giant finally stopped struggling.
Thor gasped for breath, staggered backward, and fell off the fallen giant.
He felt he had never been this tired in his entire life.
This is by no means an exaggeration. Becoming a mortal was a first for him, and Thor, as a god, rarely felt "tired."
In the past, he could easily kill a frost giant with a single blow. But today, despite the firepower support of so many mortals, he was still exhausted. His shield armor was riddled with wounds, and broken circuits were exposed everywhere, crackling and sparking.
The other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents no longer dared to underestimate him in the slightest.
Previously, when their superiors assigned Saul, a "civilian" of unknown origin, to the assault team, they didn't say anything due to orders, but they were still somewhat displeased.
But after witnessing Thor's incredible performance as both tank and center, that initial displeasure has now completely turned into admiration.
This person is simply a superman!
Without him, it would be quite difficult for this commando team to take down the Frost Giant.
Thor pulled his axe from the giant's corpse and continued walking in silently, but his mood had become somewhat heavy.
Now that he has lost his divine powers, even with the aid of mortal armor, he would find it incredibly difficult to face a single frost giant. What if there are even more inside...?
For the first time in his life, Thor experienced firsthand how difficult it is to be a mortal.
Of course, Thor never avoids battle. Especially now that he's convinced the Frost Giants are after him, and he thinks the mortals of Midgard have no chance against them.
If they were to be cowardly and avoid battle, the Frost Giants would only bring devastation to the mortal realm and cause countless innocent mortals to die in vain.
Although Saul was arrogant and conceited, he never shirked his responsibilities. He considered himself a god, and thus felt it was his duty to protect mortals and even to die for the innocent. He was never afraid of battle, nor of death.
However, just as he was carrying his axe and taking heavy steps into the depths of the valley, he suddenly froze.
What did he see?
Frost Giants. Just as he had his worst fears, there was a whole squad of frost giants inside, so numerous that they filled him with despair.
However, they were all already dead.
The whole scene looked like a massacre of the Frost Giants, most of them cut in half at the chest or waist, with clean cuts.
Upon seeing this, an absurd thought popped into Thor's mind—it had been severed by a single sword strike.
It was as if someone had swung a sword here, and with just that one strike, all the frost giants in the arena were cut in half at the waist.
Thor blinked twice, finding it hard to believe what he was seeing.
They fought tooth and nail outside, risking their lives and getting badly injured, barely managing to take down the frost giant guarding the gate. But at the same time, someone inside had already wiped out an entire frost legion.
Midgard has such a powerful figure?
Thor quickly noticed the commotion coming from further inside. A deafening explosion shook the entire valley, sending dust and debris raining down. At the same time, the frost giant roared in fury.
Without hesitation, Thor immediately picked up his axe and continued deeper into the territory. The S.H.I.E.L.D. team followed immediately behind.
Then they all saw the magnificent battlefield inside, which was not a scene of ice and fire, but a dazzling display of light effects.
A frost giant, even more imposing than any of the previous giants—Thor recognized it at a glance as Laufey, the king of the frost giants—roared furiously, unleashing vortexes of ice crystals into the air with both palms.
The mountain walls and rocks that his magic swept over instantly turned into thick layers of ice, but he failed to hit the nimble figure in the air at all.
The red-gold armor, propelled by its tail flames, tumbled up and down as it flew, continuously bombarding down crimson energy beams.
"Jarvis, weaken the impact of the arc pulse; convert all the energy into high temperature," Tony ordered.
Jarvis: "It's done. The arc pulse cannon is now in extreme high-temperature mode."
Therefore, every arc pulse fired by the Mark 7 was at its highest temperature, and the pulse beams turned red, distorting the air wherever they passed due to the high temperature.
The pulse beam struck Laufey, and although much of it was neutralized by the frost magic surrounding him, some energy still penetrated the shield and struck Laufey directly. White smoke hissed from his icy blue skin, burning Laufey so much that he roared in fury.
Frost giants are a race of ice, so naturally they hate heat.
This is a setting from the original Marvel comics, and it's why the Frost Giants mostly prefer to fight in their home turf of Jotunheim.
In fact, if it weren't for the partial magical enhancement from the Frost Box, Laufey would normally dislike leaving his hometown to fight in such an uncomfortable climate.
Laufey roared and unleashed another blast of icy magic. But Iron Man countered with a high-temperature arc pulse in mid-air.
Crimson pulse energy and icy magic clashed in the air, hot and cold clashing, violently exploding within the enclosed valley. Ice crystals melted, rocks shattered, and scalding water burst forth in all directions.
Thor was secretly alarmed.
Is that iron man in the sky just a mortal wearing iron armor, like the team of agents behind him?
But he was able to neutralize Laufey's ice magic!
Could it be that he hadn't paid attention to Midgard for too long and was unaware that such a powerful being had emerged in the mortal realm? In his view, this was already a strength comparable to that of the gods.
Laufey was even more shocked.
Keep in mind that he only managed to barely neutralize the opponent's high-temperature rays thanks to the magical enhancement from the Frost Casket. Does this mean that without Loki's enhancement, he would have already lost?
He, the Frost Giant King, in Midgard, lost to the weapons of mortals!?
Tony, however, felt it was only natural.
Gamma-ray vibranium arc reactor, kid!
His reactor's energy output has also been upgraded significantly recently; he's put a lot of effort into it. As the saying goes, great strength makes bricks fly; as long as the energy output is sufficient, the Mythic Protoss can still do the job.
Thor was surprised, but he didn't hesitate. With a roar, he charged at Laufey, swinging his axe: "For Midgard!"
However, he had only taken two steps when Laufey didn't even turn to look at him. It seemed that with just a thought, a cold current shot towards him.
With a whoosh, Thor and the entire SHIELD team behind him were frozen into ice sculptures, unable to move an inch.
"Noisy," Laufey grumbled sullenly.
