Marvel: I am Iron Man

Chapter 56 Encountering a Hydra

boom--!

The turret that was hit by the missile was originally located on the high ground of the Ten Rings Gang's military position, and was placed on a reinforced trapezoidal platform.

The turret had a thick protective shield in front, and the dark muzzle of the gun pointed diagonally to the sky. Behind it was a trench leading to an ammunition depot... That's how it used to be.

A blinding flash of light erupted as the small missile launched, like a miniature sun falling high in the sky, instantly engulfing the outline of the steel.

Then came a series of overlapping, tearing screams of metal and concrete from behind the door. The heavy turret armor was ripped apart like paper, and the trapezoidal platform was transformed into a hell of high pressure and flames in a fraction of a second.

Countless fragments were ejected, along with jets of burning metal, and countless scorching, deadly objects, like a rain of death, were carried into the massive fireball that rapidly expanded after the turret exploded.

The trenches became the fuse, drawing the flames of death deeper into the facility. A more intense flash erupted, a larger fireball rose, and the symphony of destruction reached its climax at the military outpost, as if the entire city trembled after a dull, terrifying rumble.

Inside the city hall, Karim ran out and looked at the exaggerated explosion flames on the high point where the turret was located in the distance, the unstoppable surging fire snakes, his face full of unconcealed fear and shock.

"What the hell?" Karim exclaimed in shock. "We've been attacked by tactical missiles?!"

The man in the suit, who had just reached the door, seemed to feel the earth tremble even from such a distance. His eardrums were ringing from the towering explosion, and his face showed the same disbelief.

This earth-shattering explosion, this exaggerated firepower... was it caused by that smoke trail I just glimpsed?

What kind of power is this?!

This was just a tiny missile mounted on the forearm of the Mark 7.

Yes, the Mark 7 not only achieved a leap forward in energy output and defense, but also in the other weapons it carries. And this upgrade was already present in the original movie.

In the movie "Iron Man 1", we can see that the fledgling Iron Man Mark III armor's forearm anti-tank missile can destroy a heavy tank with just one shot.

By the time of "The Avengers," the Mark 7's forearm missiles were far more advanced than that. In the movie, a single Mark 7 missile blasted away an entire Chitauri mothership—a soldier transport ship that looked like a flying insect.

A tiny missile blasted the alien mothership to pieces, turning it into a sky full of burning meteors. At that time, the power of Tony's advanced technology was already evident; his missiles were not only miniature in size, but their destructive power was also becoming increasingly astonishing.

Iron Man's armor possesses a level of technology far exceeding the overall level of Earth's civilization, and is even capable of fighting alien armies; this is no exaggeration.

The continuous explosions and gunfire outside gradually subsided, and it became quiet.

"Trim! Pesius! Anyone... report! Give me a report!" Leader Karim roared, holding the communicator, but there was no response.

No matter who he tried to contact, there was only static on the other end of the line. Perhaps the communication had been interrupted by some unknown means, or perhaps no one could answer him anymore.

But even the thought sent a chill down Karim's spine—was such a thing really possible?

Even if those American troops came and attacked him directly (and the possibility of that is extremely slim), the current situation would never have occurred.

How much time has passed since the first explosion? A minute? Half a minute?

Who could wipe out all his fighting force in less than a minute, paralyzing this stronghold? Does such a military force exist on Earth?

Aliens?

But the reality is that all the gunfire outside has stopped. There are no sounds of fighting or resistance, and the communication channels are completely silent, as if his entire army has evaporated.

The man in the suit also ducked back into the city hall. He pulled out his phone and started dialing rapidly, seemingly trying to contact someone.

But when he entered a number, his screen only displayed the words "No Signal" without any courtesy.

A mechanically processed voice mockingly echoed from mid-air: "Forget it, don't even try. I've destroyed all the communication nodes in this area, plus there are signal jamming devices. So unless you're aliens who have mastered quantum communication technology, your phone is just a useless brick now."

The two looked up in alarm, and then saw the steel body that had suddenly appeared.

At this moment, the sunlight became the most devout plating artist for the red and gold armor. With the armor back to the sunlight, it slowly descended, propelled by flames. As it fell into the invisible veil of light between the sun and the ground, the backlight swallowed all mechanical details, casting only a towering steel silhouette before the two people.

From the backlit silhouette of that technological creation, the two felt an oppressive force that seemed to transcend humanity. The closer the creature descended, the more tangible the pressure became, making it impossible for them to lift their heads.

After a facial recognition scan on the helmet's built-in display, Jarvis quickly identified Tony as Karim Farooq, a Ten Rings officer in charge of the location.

What surprised Tony even more was the white man in a suit standing next to Karim. Facial recognition also identified this man.

Mitchell Carson, an active agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.... and a fairly high-ranking one at that.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. here? Mixed in with terrorists?" Tony was stunned. His first thought was that he might have stumbled upon some kind of undercover plan arranged by Fury.

Wait a minute, this face seems familiar...

Jarvis said, "Mitchell Carson is currently flagged as a suspected Hydra agent in our 'Hydra File' because of his close ties with Senator Sinter, who has been clearly identified as a Hydra remnant..."

Tony only remembered after Jarvis reminded him.

Mitchell Carson, Hydra... that's the guy.

This character also appeared in the MCU movies, a minor role for Hydra. In the Ant-Man movie, he represented Hydra in a deal with the villain Darren Cross, attempting to purchase a yellow suit with the same shrinking ability as Ant-Man for Hydra.

During the battle between Ant-Man and Darren, who was wearing the yellow suit, Mitchell Carson stole a vial of Pym Particles and ran away in the chaos, disappearing without a trace.

After that, the Pym Particles likely ended up in Hydra's hands. But the MCU writers probably forgot about it after that, and no one has mentioned Mitchell or the vial of Pym Particles since, leaving this plot hole unresolved to this day.

Tony peered at Mitchell through the armor.

To my surprise, we ran into a Hydra here, mingling with the Ten Rings...

There was an unexpected bonus!
