Wizard: I'm leveling up by AFK in another world
Chapter 14 The Banquet
Claire deliberately slowed down her ascent.
When he returned to the sea, everything had returned to calm.
Only the thousands upon thousands of fish carcasses floating on the surface of the water tell the story of the fierce battle that had just taken place.
The patrol boat, which was processing the fish carcass, pulled him aboard, verified his identity, and then released him.
When I got back to the dorm, the two brothers were already there.
Seth was intently wiping his bayonet.
Renn sat on the bed, facing the wall, seemingly lost in thought.
Rod leaned on the windowsill, his face flushed, and he appeared extremely excited.
"My god, it really is a beast tide! Those magic arrays were so cool!" Rhodes turned to Claire, "Why are you only coming back now? Were you held up down there? What a pity, you missed a great show!"
Upon hearing this, Clarton immediately felt himself being locked onto by a cold gaze.
"I was a little slow, and I figured I wouldn't have enough time, so I hid down there," Claire said, feigning surprise. "Luckily, I didn't get entangled by the fish."
He turned his head and met Seth's dead fish eyes.
Claire returned a tired smile, naturally lay back on the bed, and turned over.
"I'm going to sleep for a while. Call me if you need anything." He closed his eyes.
I just expended too much mental energy to completely conceal my whereabouts.
However, once she lay in bed, Claire found it difficult to fall asleep.
The conversation between Raine and the Yellow Lantern Sea Beast lingered in his mind, forcing him to constantly ponder.
"Two days later..."
……
……
Claire did not sleep for two days.
He felt as if he had just closed his eyes when Rhodes shook him awake.
"Wake up, wake up!" Opening my eyes, I was greeted by an excited face. "They're throwing a party in the cafeteria, everyone has to go!"
Claire blinked, and had no choice but to get out of bed.
On his way to the cafeteria, he got a general idea of the situation from Rod's long, rambling rambling.
In short, although this beast tide came very suddenly, it was too weak to attract the attention of the base management.
The beast tide of tens of thousands of sea monsters was wiped out by the protective array on the outer edge of the base without even the official wizard in charge having to make a move.
Therefore, after a very brief investigation, the management characterized it as "deep-sea migration caused by some natural cause".
However, considering the mental health of most of the employees working underwater, the management thoughtfully decided to hold a celebration party to boost morale.
Soon, Claire followed Rod to the main venue of the party.
At this moment, the long tables in the cafeteria were piled high with glistening, cooked seafood.
Golden-brown, juicy braised octopus legs, white jade crab meat soup served in a large bowl, and various garlic-flavored shellfish piled high like a tower.
The employees were all flushed and shouting loudly, as if they wanted to vent all the fright they had suffered during the day through food and alcohol.
In the elite collectors' area, even the notoriously strict supervisor, Buck, was holding a huge lobster claw, listening to his subordinates' compliments with a mouthful of grease.
"Homage to the great will of the wizard!"
"A salute to the generous Charles family!"
"Homage to the valiant Supervisor Buck!"
Cheers erupted one after another.
Claire held a glass of fruit wine in her hand and sipped it slowly.
As soon as he entered, he kept searching for those two familiar figures in the crowd.
Seth and Ryan were also there.
The two brothers maintained their aura of unapproachability, sitting in the darkest corner with food on the table, but barely touching it.
"Hey! Claire! What are you doing hiding here?"
Claire's observation was interrupted by an overly excited loud voice.
Rod, his face flushed, staggered over, carrying a half-empty bottle of rum. But he wasn't alone.
On either side of him, he was arm in arm with a hot, long-haired woman.
They look very alike; they are twins.
Although she was only wearing a simple company uniform, the sweat-soaked fabric clung tightly to her body, outlining breathtaking curves.
"Look! This is Claire I told you about!" Rod slurred, showing off to the two sisters. "He's my good brother, and a hidden master! Don't let his skinny appearance fool you, he's incredibly skilled!"
The two sisters giggled, their eyes darting around as they sized Claire up and down; one of them even boldly winked at her.
"Rhodes, who are these two?" Claire had to look away and give a polite smile.
"These are Anna and Bella!" Rhodes puffed out his chest proudly. "During the evacuation, they were almost pushed off the path by the crowd. It was me—the brave Rhodes—who pulled them back up!"
"Isn't that fate!"
"It really is fate." Claire nodded perfunctorily. "A hero saving a damsel in distress deserves a drink."
"That's right! Come on, drink up!" Rod poured Claire a full glass of wine, then leaned close to his ear and whispered, his breath reeking of alcohol, "Brother, tonight is a great opportunity."
"Those two girls just hinted to me that no one's in their dorm... How about it? One for each of them? They're twins, top-notch!"
Claire sighed helplessly as she looked at Rhodes's lustful state.
Normally, he wouldn't mind letting his roommate relax a bit.
But right now, he's really not in the mood for it.
"Sorry, Rhodes." Claire rubbed her temples, feigning a hangover. "I feel a bit dizzy. It's probably because I was underwater for too long and didn't decompress properly. I'm really dizzy now."
"You guys play, I want to go back and lie down for a while."
"Huh? You're leaving already?" Rhodes was a little disappointed. "Your physical condition is really bad! Okay, okay, I won't force you. Anna, Bella, let's continue!"
As Rod disappeared into the dance floor with two women on either side, Claire's gaze returned to the corner.
empty.
Seth and Ryan, who were just sitting there, are gone.
"They're really fast."
Claire put down her glass and slipped out of the cafeteria.
……
……
The corridor was deserted; most people had gone to the banquet. Only the occasional mechanical clicking of a patrolling construct could be heard.
Claire cast a Lightness Spell on herself, moving silently through the shadows.
After passing through two airtight doors and navigating a complex network of steam pipes, you enter the secluded back of the living area.
He unleashed his mental power and, after walking for a short while, quickly spotted two points of light.
It's right ahead.
He hid behind a thick cooling pipe, held his breath, and peered inside through the gaps in the pipe.
Sure enough.
Two furtive figures stood in front of a closed metal cabinet marked with a purple crystal.
It was those two brothers.
Seth was holding a strange alchemical instrument and scanning the rune lock on the power supply cabinet, making notes on parchment as he did so.
Ryan looked around warily.
