Reborn in America: I Have an Equipment Slot

Chapter 13 Racial Discrimination?

Irving picked up the money from the ground, counted it carefully, and found that there was a total of $302.

"As expected, these 'North American cowards' deserve a good beating to teach them a lesson."

Irving turned around and gently knocked on the door.

Tina, who had been waiting anxiously in the room for a long time, hurriedly opened the door.

Seeing that the burly black men who had been harassing her had disappeared, Tina's face lit up with joy. She immediately threw herself into Owen's arms, wrapped her arms around his neck, and started kissing him.

After a long while, Tina finally stopped her attack, looked at Owen with hazy eyes, and said gratefully:

"Irving, you're like a knight sent by God to save me. Thank you for helping me. I can't imagine how I would have gotten through the rest of my life without your help."

"You're welcome, Tina. Didn't you already pay me?"

Irving gently patted Tina's bottom, then took out the loose bills and coins that the black men had collected and handed her $302.

"Here you go, I've gotten back the $300 you were extorted from."

"Oh, Owen, I can't take this money. You've already solved my biggest problem. This three hundred dollars is nothing."

"You're welcome, Tina. I know you work very hard..."

Before Owen could finish speaking, Tina placed a finger on his lips and whispered in his ear:

"It's okay, Owen, take this money. Consider it... a reward for your hard work tonight."

"award?"

Owen paused for a moment, looking at Tina's rosy face and heavy breathing in front of him, and shrugged helplessly.

Sure enough, good performance brings rewards. The ancients were right!

…………

The next day, early in the morning.

Irving was awakened by a piercing horn blaring outside his window, accompanied by a commotion outside the door.

Irving opened his eyes and woke up. Looking at the empty little house, he slowly sat up.

After getting dressed, I opened the door and glanced around, only to find that Tina was nowhere to be seen.

He then looked at Ayesha, who was sitting on the sofa in the living room, and asked, "Where's Tina?"

"She's already gone to class. Oh, and before she left, she asked me to give you a message."

Ayesha took a sip of coffee: "She said she's very grateful to you and asked me to prepare breakfast for you. After you finish breakfast, you can leave. Just pretend that nothing happened these past two days. Contact me again if anything comes up in the future."

Kyrie Irving: "?"

Seeing Ayesha tighten her grip on her coffee cup slightly, Owen shrugged, smiled gently, sat down next to her, took out his phone, and deliberately spoke slowly:

"Tina really said that? Then I need to call her and ask her properly. Last night she clearly said she wanted me to stay here..."

Upon hearing Owen's words, Ayesha's eyes immediately flickered.

Just as Irving was about to press the dial button, she quickly reached out and pressed the phone.

"Okay, I admit I was lying just now."

Ayesha sighed. "Tina only told me to tell you she went to class. She's been busy during the day these past few days, but you're welcome to come anytime in the evenings."

"So you just lied?" Owen asked, puzzled.

"I don't want you, you scumbag, to ruin Tina!" Ayesha withdrew her arm and glared fiercely at Owen.

"..."

Irving was incredulous, thinking that the blonde, blue-eyed beauty sitting in front of him must have something wrong with her head.

"Hey, listen up, Ayesha!" Owen, somewhat exasperated, took a deep breath and said:

"I know you just went through a failed relationship, but that doesn't seem to have anything to do with me and Tina, does it?"

Besides, Ms. Tina and I are not lovers yet, at most we are friends... friends who help each other with our needs.

"You're trying to sow discord between us... Ayesha, do you perhaps want to experience Tina's pleasure too?"

"You scoundrel!"

Seeing Owen raise an eyebrow at her, and recalling Tina's cries from the previous night, Ayesha immediately blushed, slammed her hand on the table, and got up to leave.

Hearing the door slam shut with a loud "bang," Irving shrugged, somewhat regretfully.

"What a pity, this blonde beauty is a lesbian," Owen said with some regret.

After quickly grabbing a piece of bread from the table to fill his stomach, Owen left Tina's place.

After glancing at his right hand, which was bleeding, scabbed over, and slightly swollen from yesterday's fight, Irving decided to just find a pharmacy, buy some iodine and bandages, and treat it simply.

He hadn't gone far when he saw a pharmacy called "Walgreen".

American pharmacies, though called pharmacies, are actually more like general stores selling all sorts of things.

It contains not only cosmetics, toiletries, small clothes, and small tools, but also children's toys, stationery, and so on. It can be said to have a wide variety of products and everything you could want.

When Irving entered the pharmacy, he saw two black men with bruised and swollen faces taking their medicine to pay for it.

Upon seeing Irving, the two black men looked disdainful, but did not provoke him.

Irving shrugged, glanced at the dazzling array of goods on the shelves, but wasn't attracted by them. He went straight to the pharmacy counter.

After grabbing two rolls of medical bandages and a bottle of iodine, I walked straight to the cashier.

When Irving arrived at the cashier, he discovered that the pharmacist in charge of collecting payments was a Black woman.

The Black pharmacist became slightly impatient upon seeing that Irving had only brought two rolls of medical bandages and a bottle of iodine.

"Sir, are you sure you only want these?"

"Confirmed." Irving took out two $5 bills and a few 10-cent and 25-cent coins and handed them over.

Unexpectedly, the Black pharmacist, with a stern face, opened the cash register and said in an unfriendly tone:

"Sir, we've just received a new batch of health products that are quite good and very suitable for Asian people like you..."

As she spoke, the Black female pharmacist deliberately glanced at Irving's abdomen.

Feeling offended, Irving's eyes instantly turned fierce: "Hey, what did you mean just now?"

Did I hear that right? I actually experienced racial discrimination at a Walgreens pharmacy in Miami?

You *****, just because I'm Asian, does that mean I have to fucking take health supplements?

Okay, I think you've messed with the wrong person. I'm calling 911 right now! Say goodbye to your pharmacist license!

Owen, using the same vulgar tone he had heard from the black alcoholic earlier, questioned him with a string of extremely profanity.

The Black female pharmacist waved her hands repeatedly, her voice trembling with tears, and hurriedly explained, "No! No! No! Sir, I really didn't mean that, I was just saying it offhand..."

Seeing Irving pull out his phone, the Black female pharmacist panicked. She leaped forward and grabbed Irving's hands, pleading urgently:

"Sir, please, I was wrong just now. To express my apology, I'm willing to compensate you with some money. Please, please don't call 911, okay?"
