Frilian: This Demon Isn't So Cold
Chapter 55 Little Fun Things During the Journey
"I say, don't you plan to spread magic along this journey?"
After passing through a village once again, Carlos couldn't help but ask Vlamé.
"To accomplish something great, one must have a calm and patient mindset." Inside the carriage, Vlame answered his question while reading a magic book. "Doing this prematurely will only disrupt my plans, and all sorts of unexpected things may happen."
Great, very ambitious!
Carlos felt ashamed that he was still thinking about his own affairs; his perspective was nowhere near as grand as the other man's.
"However..." Vlame changed the subject, "This is only because I was lucky. Without the support of my master and you all, it would have been quite difficult for me to do this."
"Speaking of which," Carlos said, glancing at Celia who was finding the journey boring, "Will Master really stay with us from now on?"
"What, you want me to stay with you all the time?" Celia met his gaze, and Carlos could see the gleam of interest in her eyes.
"You'll have to ask your junior sister about that," Carlos said, looking away.
He believed that Celie's interest stemmed solely from his earlier remarks, which had excited the warlike elf.
Although he was feeling very down at the time, there was no need for him to execute himself now, was there?
Carlos doesn't want to die yet.
"This is pointless." Celia looked at Volamere. "What are your thoughts? I'd like to hear your opinion for now."
"Master, you can just do what you want to do." Volame closed the grimoire in his hand. "Do you feel happy about this journey with us?"
"Hmm... it's hard to say, it's quite novel, I guess?" Celia hunched her back slightly, looking very lazy. "My muscles are a little sore here."
She patted him on the shoulder.
So Vlame got up and went over to Celie and massaged her shoulders.
"Are all elves this lazy?" Carlos asked doubtfully.
"Only she is like that," Frilian, who was huddled to the side, replied immediately.
Her health improved significantly the day after she drank the medicinal soup, and by the third day she had fully recovered...
Although I still sleep until noon every day.
"You're the least qualified person here to say that." Carlos sighed, deciding to ignore this oblivious elf.
"Hmph, both Mom and Dad say I'm very hardworking."
Frillie crawled out of her sleeping bag and took out the silver plate that now looked somewhat outdated in its workmanship.
The images recorded by 【Photo Magic】 show the parents as clearly as ever.
Frillie watched them silently, and for the first time felt that just over a month had been such a long time.
"They really spoil you rotten," Carlos said with a hint of envy, but Frilian didn't notice because she was lost in her memories.
"I've always spoiled you too." Sylvia stood on tiptoe and reached out to pat his head.
"..."
Inside the carriage, a human was massaging an elf's shoulders, another human was stroking a demon's head, and the last remaining elf was staring blankly at a photograph.
If people who will know them in the future were to see this scene now, they would surely think they ate something they shouldn't have, causing them to hallucinate.
After all, everyone in this carriage will leave a significant mark on history.
……
The monsters they occasionally encountered on their journey were no match for them. With the perfect teamwork between the warriors and mages, they were slain in just a few rounds.
Vlame was the fastest mage to handle this situation, followed by Sylvia, while Frilian was the slowest.
"Why...?"
Frilian had asked Sylvia, "Volamere is one thing, but why is Sylvia's efficiency even higher than hers?"
She clearly believed that she was the strongest among this group, both in terms of magical power and the skill in manipulating magic.
Sylvie just smiled and told her, "Because I tried to feel what those people were thinking when they were fighting, and I tried my best to match their actions and plans so that I could release magic at the right time."
"Hmm... I'll try doing that sometime."
Afterwards, Frilian clumsily tried to cooperate with the guards' actions, but always ended in failure, and even made the battle more dangerous.
Even so, she was not reprimanded by the guards, because whenever this happened, Sylvia, as a monk, would use magic to heal them.
Carlos watched this scene from the side, feeling a mix of emotions he couldn't quite describe.
"Are you jealous of me?" One day, seeing the expression on Carlos's face, Sylvia became excited for some reason, her eyes sparkling as if little stars were twinkling.
"Really?" Carlos couldn't quite understand. He thought it was just Sylvia's daily behavior as a monk, so why would he be jealous over something like that?
Sylvia was quite happy, though. "I'm jealous, I'm jealous! Hmph, but don't worry, I made sure I didn't touch their skin."
Healing magic is a type of magic that can be cast without touching the skin.
Carlos did not say this aloud.
He simply nodded, and then, that night when no one was watching, he used [flying magic] to take the other person to a high altitude, where they could enjoy the beautiful night sky that was not obstructed by trees or man-made objects.
"How wonderful..." The temperature was a bit low up there, and a cold wind was blowing in her head. Sylvia shrank her neck, exhaled a breath of warm air, and smiled at Carlos.
"Is this happiness?" Carlos couldn't quite understand her thinking, but he was also happy that he had found a way to make Sylvia happy.
"Yes, doing all sorts of silly things with the people I like, and seeing all kinds of scenery, that's happiness for me."
"Have you forgiven your father?" Ever since he learned that the relationship between the father and daughter was not good, Carlos had been trying to make them reconcile.
After all, he felt it wasn't entirely her father's fault, and Sylvia was also a bit too stubborn.
"Half and half."
"Half and half?"
"It means exactly what it says." Sylvia buried her face in her scarf. "I'm a little cold, I'd better go back to sleep."
"……good."
Unnoticed by the rest of the caravan, Frillie returned to her carriage and was furious to see the two of them still cuddling together.
"I want to go up there and see it too!" she said in a low voice.
But anyone here can hear the childlike capriciousness in his voice.
"Next time, next time for sure," Carlos replied casually to Frilian.
"You always say that!" Frillie sulked.
"Alright, alright, I'll definitely not forget you next time I have this opportunity," Sylvia said, comforting the childlike Frillie.
"You're really going to spoil her like this." Vlame hadn't been sleeping either; she had just been silently watching them playfully interacting.
"Let them be spoiled. Someone has to enjoy happiness. I hope more people can experience this feeling." Sylvia reached out and hugged Frilian, wanting to transfer her body heat to her.
"It's so cold! Stay away from me!" Frillie pushed him away forcefully.
Sylvia wasn't annoyed; instead, she smiled and asked, "Do you still want to go up?"
"think!"
During these uneventful days, they followed the caravan to Frisch.
