Frilian: This Demon Isn't So Cold
Chapter 3 Reversal Magic
"Besides [flight magic] and the magic you use to conceal your demonic characteristics, what other magic can you use?"
Instead of answering Carlos's question, Celia asked this question.
Upon hearing this, Carlos slowly descended from the sky, his feet touching the ground again.
After setting his foot firmly, he released [Fire Magic] straight upwards, and a fireball appeared out of thin air, rising straight into the sky.
Unfortunately, this fireball doesn't explode after reaching its peak like fireworks.
Carlos thought that if he had the chance in the future, he would have to find a way to develop the magic of releasing fireworks.
"Anything else?"
The familiar magical fluctuations made Celia realize that this was the magic Carlos had used back then, but she knew that there was at least one other spell he could use.
"The magic that allows one to breathe underwater is not a good subject to demonstrate here."
After all, there were no rivers around for Carlos to perform his breath-holding skills.
"How did you learn all these spells?" Celia continued to ask, and Vlame finally stopped rubbing her calves and looked over curiously.
"Flight magic is something I've known since the beginning; fire magic is something I learned by stealing techniques from other mages; and the magic that allows me to breathe underwater is something I developed myself to survive."
"What about the magic used to conceal the demonic characteristics?"
"It was also developed by ourselves."
"..."
Celia paused for a moment, then asked:
"Besides [Flight Magic], what other magic can you use from the beginning?"
"Really? I don't seem to remember?" Carlos scratched his head, firmly believing that honesty was a virtue, and he had always told Celie the truth.
"..."
"Ha ha ha ha--"
After a brief silence, Celia laughed. She laughed quite wildly, leaning forward and holding her stomach with her left hand, as if she couldn't breathe.
"I haven't been this happy in a long time, Carlos. You're the first person in thousands of years to make me laugh this happily."
Seria reached out and wiped away the tears that had welled up in her eyes from laughing, then her expression suddenly turned cold, as if the elf who had just been laughing heartily was not her.
Carlos didn't dare to speak.
"I'm going to teach you a spell now," Celia said in a emotionless voice.
After hesitating for a moment, Carlos asked, "Do I need to become an apprentice?"
He was wondering if he should kneel down before Celie if he were to become her apprentice.
"No need." Celia denied Carlos's question, and magical fluctuations began to appear around her.
In Carlos and Vlame's perception, Celie was instantly enveloped by magic that burned like flames.
"This is [Spell Reversal Magic]."
Seria explained to the two of them, then looked at Carlos, "Can you see the flow of magic and the specific structure of magic?"
"I can see it very clearly." Carlos's eyes were wide open, not wanting to miss even the slightest detail.
This was the first time he had ever seen such magic. The exquisite and complex composition of the magic was simply breathtaking.
"That's good. This is the magic I'm going to teach you."
Celia nodded. "Learning it shouldn't be a problem, right?"
"certainly."
Carlos repeatedly observed the magic surrounding Celia, memorizing it thoroughly. Then, he closed his eyes and began to try to construct his own.
Since there are already mature reference points, he believes it's only a matter of time.
The amount of magic released, the flow rate at specific locations, and its related components...
Carlos followed suit, gradually constructing the [Curse Return Magic] itself.
As time passed, Celia's initially indifferent expression gradually turned to astonishment, because a faint yet familiar magical fluctuation was emanating from Carlos—the rudimentary form of [Curse Reversal Magic].
When Carlos opened his eyes, he was surrounded by flames made of magic, almost identical to those of Celie.
The only difference is that the flames are smaller in scale, and there are also some discordant elements in the design.
However, regardless of the circumstances, this is indeed a genuine [return spell].
Carlos was very grateful for this.
"Although I didn't become your apprentice, I must thank you for being willing to teach me such powerful magic."
He knelt down on one knee before Celia for the second time.
Actually, Carlos wasn't stupid. After that conversation and those actions, he probably knew where his problem lay.
But what can we do?
Celia probably already understood that continuing to hide it might be an option, but there was no guarantee that it could really be kept secret forever. So Carlos brought out the gratitude that occupied more than half of his emotions and said very sincerely.
"Master..."
Vlamé reached out his small hand and grasped Celia's right hand, his feelings a mixture of emotions.
She remembered when her parents taught her to use magic, even though it was just a very simple spell, it still took Volame a long time to learn.
Unlike Carlos, who learned the extremely difficult [Curse Return Magic] in less than ten minutes.
It's still better to just look at it.
If the incident in the village hadn't happened, she would have already suggested to Celie that they kill Carlos.
Even now, this thought has been building up in my throat, just waiting for the right opportunity to burst forth.
"It's alright." Celia let Vlame hold her right hand, a wide grin spreading across her face.
She had, of course, seen her disciple rubbing his leg after stopping, and Carlos's gaze had also been caught by her.
Carlos remained seated, quietly awaiting Celia's next words to him.
"You have considerable talent as a mage, but unfortunately you are a demon."
Celia tried to calm herself down, but a smile still lingered on her face.
She had thought that after living for so long, she wouldn't encounter anything particularly surprising anymore, but she had to admit that Carlos had just given her a big surprise.
"【Curse Reversal Magic】Generally, it takes humans over 100 years to learn this magic, but you just used it for less than 10 minutes. Do you understand what that means?"
Just as I had guessed.
"So, am I going to die?"
Carlos raised his head, which had been lowered until now.
He had expected to be afraid and panicked, but when the moment came, he didn't feel that way at all.
Perhaps, being born into this world is a mistake.
Looking directly into the calm expression in Carlos's eyes, Celia didn't answer his question. Instead, she said:
"You've been hiding your magical energy from the very beginning, even when you first started using magic, so I still don't know how much magical power you have."
This is very unusual; she had already noticed it, but she just didn't say anything.
Anyone else who uses magic, no matter how well they conceal it, can have their specific magical power detected by her.
Carlos, however, consistently concealed his magical power from beginning to end. Except when he used magic, which allowed Celia to sense fluctuations in his magical power, Celia still did not know the extent of Carlos's magical power.
The words had barely left her lips when Celia sensed an astonishing magical power suddenly emanating from Carlos.
'Rustling sound'
The immense magical power brazenly asserted its presence, causing even the wind to tremble and the leaves to rustle.
"This is really..."
She gazed at Carlos's magical power, which was insignificant to her but comparable to that of an ordinary Greater Demon. "Did you really only live for six years, Carlos?"
