Frilian: This Demon Isn't So Cold

Chapter 2, line 1: Three people can form three species.

During this time, Vlame gradually came to understand just how capable the person beside him truly was.

The demon who killed her parents and invaded the village vanished without a trace after she emerged from the basement, and the demon in front of her now looked terrified of Celie.

But now, Carlos has disguised himself as a human through magic, and according to him, he used to live in a human village.

What was their village just facing?

Vlamé would never allow such a thing to exist.

"Uh... there are many reasons, but in short, I really haven't killed a single person, nor have I ever eaten anyone... you should be able to tell, right?"

Carlos looked at Celia with hopeful eyes.

I hope that such convenient magic exists in this world.

"Volameh, he certainly didn't kill anyone."

Celia had seen this from the beginning. Carlos's magic was incredibly pure, lacking the nauseating aura of other demons. Otherwise, she would have dealt with him long ago. Plus, she was slightly interested in his series of strange behaviors...

In terms of the outcome, it was just a matter of a single thought.

Although Celia wouldn't actively seek out trouble with the demons, she wouldn't give these guys, who were ordered to exterminate the elves, a friendly look either. She was pretty much at the point of killing the demons whenever she happened to see them while passing by.

"Why is this happening? Could it be that Master has made a mistake?"

Vlame looked at Celia, whose chubby face seemed very cute in Carlos's eyes.

If it weren't for his words that sent chills down one's spine...

"Volame, I can't believe it either, but that's the truth," Celia explained emotionlessly. "This demon named Carlos has indeed never killed a single person."

"I'm sorry to have interrupted your conversation, but am I allowed to live?" Carlos asked cautiously.

Celia glanced at him. Carlos was very tall... at least when they were both standing straight, she would have to look up to look directly at his face, so Carlos was still kneeling on one knee.

Even so, Celia could only look him in the eye. If Carlos hadn't kept his eyes slightly lowered, she would have even wondered if her eyes were lower than his.

"The way you talk is really unlike a demon." Celia raised her hand in a gesture, then turned back towards the village she had come from. "Don't show your horns in front of me, come here."

Carlos silently walked to Seria's side, in the opposite direction from where Vlamé was.

He knew he had no choice but to accept, but he also didn't want to be ungrateful.

The child has just experienced a major upheaval in her life, with both her parents dying at the hands of demons. To expect her to speak kindly to you based solely on words is pure fantasy.

It can't be now, at least not now.

"Where are we going now?" Carlos asked. "Also, I don't know your name yet."

"Village, Celia," Celia replied briefly.

Judging from the direction, it should be the village that was just invaded by the demons. Carlos nodded to himself. It seems that Celie is the kind of person who is easy to talk to. At least she won't be a mute and not tell him anything.

Well, it seems I really did survive.

Carlos breathed a sigh of relief.

As for the other little girl, he already knew her name from their previous conversation.

What should I do next?

"Let's talk about it after we've dealt with Vlame's matter."

Along the way, due to the large height difference between the three, as long as they walked at the same speed, only Celia, who was walking in the middle, could turn her head to see the other two. Carlos and Vlame could only see Celia's face.

Carlos was very fortunate about this.

Vlamé intended to glare fiercely at Carlos the whole way, but found that he could only see Celie's profile, so he puffed up his cheeks in anger.

Upon arriving at their destination, the once peaceful and serene village was now a desolate wasteland, reduced to scorched earth.

Black residue swirled in the air, and human bones littered the ground. Red blood gradually congealed and turned black, creating a desolate atmosphere.

Not long ago, there was no trace of life here, along with the invading demons.

Faced with the loss of life, Carlos mourned silently in his heart.

It wasn't for the demons who didn't even have corpses, but for the humans who originally lived here.

"We're here. You can go do whatever you want now." Celia stopped and looked at Volamere.

She had no interest whatsoever in what her newly accepted disciple was supposed to do; instead, she was very interested in the strange demon beside her.

Vlame responded and ran off without even glancing back at the two of them.

Carlos had expected to be glared at again.

"How long have you lived?" Celia asked after Volamey left.

Carlos didn't know if Celie was deliberately trying to prevent Vlamé from hearing their conversation, but he clearly had no reason to refuse to answer.

"More than 6 years, I guess."

"Huh?" Celia's eyes widened, displaying the most exaggerated reaction she had ever shown. She confirmed, "Six years?"

"What's wrong?" Carlos thought Celia was expressionless.

"Heh." Celia didn't continue on that topic, but instead gave Carlos a deep look before asking, "Besides that spell you just used, what other magic can you use?"

"that……"

Carlos did not answer her question, but instead pointed to Vlamé, who was busy at work not far away.

"Aren't you going to help her? I heard Vlame call you master."

Seria looked in the direction Carlos was pointing and saw a little girl digging a hole in the ground with a shovel that was completely unsuitable for her height, and then running up to a corpse and lifting its foot to try to move it.

Unfortunately, Vlame was too young and her body was still developing, so she was unable to dig a large pit in the ground with a shovel or move the body.

All her efforts were in vain.

"What, you're planning to help her?" Celia looked at Carlos, not wanting to let his next reaction slip by.

"If possible, I think it would be better if you did it," Carlos said, nodding. "Aren't you her master?"

"You want me to go?" Celia asked back.

Carlos nodded again: "Yes."

"Are you ordering me around?" Celia asked, changing her question.

"I wouldn't dare, I was just suggesting something," Carlos replied readily.

Driven by a desire to survive, he believed that if any other person or even a demon were to answer this question, the answer would not be "correct."

"Then why don't you go by yourself?" Celia understood demons, so she became even more interested in this guy whose brain circuits were completely different from other demons.

"Our identities are incompatible," Carlos said sincerely. "I am a demon, and she is human."

There was one more thing he didn't say: what race was Celia? Because she didn't look like a human.

Based on his extensive experience from his previous life, this race with long ears was probably called the Elf race.

We can only verify that later.

While the two were talking, Vlame was still busy not far away.

To Carlos's surprise, with Vlame's continued efforts, the hole that had been dug was gradually getting bigger. Although it still looked small, at this rate, it was not impossible to finish the work before dark.

"I am an elf, not a human."

Upon hearing Celia's words, Carlos's question that had just arisen in his mind was answered.

"But you are still her master," he said, adding, "and your relationship with humans shouldn't be as tense as it is with demons."

This was just his guess, but Carlos felt it was most likely true.

Hearing him say that, Celia looked away from him and took a step toward Vlamé.

"Master, I can do it myself."

When Vlame saw Seria approaching, he said this, but his heart was filled with surprise and joy.

Hmph, that demon has no sense at all, he's just a cold-blooded monster, unlike my master who knows how to love me.

Despite the heavy weight of grief still weighing on his heart, Vlamé still managed a bright smile for Seria.

"Oh, I see. So you don't need any help, Vlame?"

Celia was greatly disappointed. She turned to look at Carlos, pondering how to punish him later.

"Huh? Master, what are you talking about?" Fulame's bright eyes began to fill with confusion.

"Carlos just told me I needed help, but it seems he was lying to me."

"..."

Vlame remained silent.

She deeply regretted saying that. Wouldn't it have been better to just accept her master's help honestly?

Now it's a dilemma: either continue doing it alone, or admit that the demon was right and that he did indeed need help.

Vlame looked at the pit she had painstakingly dug, which was barely big enough for her to lie in, let alone bury her parents properly.

"Master, I was wrong, please help me."

Having finally accepted the fact that her parents were no longer in this world, and understanding that Celia wouldn't understand the true intentions behind her words like her parents did, Volamey chose the second answer.

……

With Celia's help, not only Volamey's parents, but also the rest of the corpses in the village were properly buried.

Magic is really convenient.

Carlos thought to himself as he watched Serie use magic to dig a hole in the ground and bury the last body inside.

During this time, he also used [Fire Magic] to dry his already soaked clothes.

However, this method is not only troublesome, but the clothes also feel strange to wear after being dried.

We must find a more suitable magic afterwards.

"Alright, the job is done."

Celia lowered her hand as if she had done something insignificant. "Now come back with me."

"Yes." Vlame nodded vigorously. She took one last look at the dilapidated village behind her, then quickly walked to Celie's side.

Carlos remained standing on the other side of Celia, avoiding any eye contact with Vlamé.

The sun, high in the sky, slowly sank and was gradually blocked by the distant trees, and the light in the forest became dim.

Under these circumstances, Carlos couldn't help but ask:

"Are we just going to keep walking like this?"

It wasn't that he was overthinking things, but rather that he suspected Celia lacked the relevant basic common sense.

"We're almost there," Celia replied without turning her head.

"How fast exactly?" Carlos didn't let his guard down just because he got the answer.

"It's about a three-hour walk from there."

"..."

Carlos was silent for a moment. He couldn't see Vlamé's condition, but he figured it was unrealistic for a child of that age to walk such a long distance.

It's amazing that she's managed to keep quiet all this time.

Celia is such a terrible teacher... Wait, could she be doing this on purpose? To test her disciple's resolve?

"Can't we just use [Flight Magic]?"

Although he didn't know why Celia didn't use magic to travel, Carlos still offered a suggestion.

To everyone's surprise, Celia said, "I don't know [flight magic]. Don't you know that? That's magic only you demons can use."

Upon hearing this fact, Carlos was initially taken aback, and then said:

"I can teach you, but let me make it clear beforehand that I have no intention of becoming your teacher; I just want to get to our destination as quickly as possible."

"..."

Upon hearing his idea, Celia fell silent. She stopped, pointed to the ground, and looked at Carlos with a serious expression for the first time:

"You want to stay here?"

"No." Although Carlos was puzzled, he still denied it outright. "Why would you think that? Like I just said, I just want to get to our destination as quickly as possible. Or is there something wrong with what I just said?"

"Are you really going to teach me [flight magic]?" Celia continued to confirm.

"Um."

Carlos nodded, glancing furtively at Vlamé out of the corner of his eye.

Although the little girl didn't say anything, she had been rubbing her legs ever since she stopped walking.

"Then you teach me." Celia looked up at Carlos.

Carlos didn't refuse and began using [Flight Magic] in front of Seria. Vlame didn't look at him, but just kept rubbing her legs.

"and then?"

After Carlos had circled around and around in the sky, Celia asked.

"Carefully observe the flow of magic within me and the specific composition of [Flight Magic]." Carlos, in the air, tried to slow down his flight and the flow of magic.

At this point, Celia laughed and said, "Anything else?"

"Hmm? Is there anything else I haven't mentioned?" Carlos asked, puzzled.

Isn't magic something you can learn simply by doing this?
