Frilian: This Demon Isn't So Cold

Chapter 11 Sweeping and Reunion

Instead of waiting for Carlos to arrive, Vlame rushed back to the original battlefield to help humanity fight against the invading demons.

"You're back." When Sylvia saw Vlame appear unharmed beside her, she knew that they had once again stopped the demons' attack.

"yes."

He casually launched an attack that traveled much farther than Sylvia's, blasting a blank area in the demon army, but Volame showed little joy:

"But there might be more troublesome things to come."

"What?" Sylvie didn't understand what Vlame meant. In her opinion, nothing could be more troublesome than what she was facing now.

"You'll find out soon enough." Vlame didn't explain; she kept looking in the direction from which the beam of light had come.

"Retreat! Retreat immediately!"

The demons below, realizing their homeland had been raided, tried to retreat, but due to their sheer numbers and the slow communication of information, a large number of them still died before they could withdraw from the human defenses.

The human soldiers did not choose to pursue; their stamina was greatly depleted and insufficient to sustain further combat, and there would be no mage to assist them if they went in pursuit.

No matter how unwilling they were, they could only watch helplessly as the demons fled.

"Great! We won!"

"We've defeated the demons!"

After the victory was confirmed, the soldiers did not discriminate against each other, but hugged each other to celebrate. Some soldiers whose relatives had died in the battle shed tears, but seeing the smiles on everyone's faces, they couldn't help but smile back.

The most important thing is to hold onto Tiyua.

"Wait, something seems wrong!" a mage exclaimed, his tone incredulous.

On the city wall, many mages turned their heads in the direction that Vlame had been looking, as they also sensed an extremely powerful magical fluctuation rapidly approaching.

No, to be precise, it was moving closer to the group of fleeing demons.

Hellfire Magic

[Lightning of Annihilation]

Following the black and red flames came deep purple lightning. Both spells were far more powerful than the previous skirmishes, and they swept towards the fleeing demons with immense force.

The flames weren't moving at a speed that made them impossible to dodge; in fact, they were quite slow. But that wasn't the case for the extremely large number of demons.

There is no way to avoid it.

"ah--!"

The demon let out a painful scream before its death, and karmic fire, accompanied by lightning, swept everything away.

The green grass was ablaze, forming an impassable barrier on the ground.

Some demons who possessed flight magic attempted to escape through the sky, but the moment their feet left the ground, they were mercilessly harvested by beams of light; not one managed to escape.

Gradually, the screams of the demons became fewer and fewer, and the few that rang out soon disappeared.

The demon army assembled to attack [Tiyua] was annihilated at this moment.

The mage standing on the city wall, the soldier at the front, and the lord who had just felt fortunate were all dumbfounded.

Their gazes turned simultaneously to the only remaining figure in the distance, who was retracting the wand he held in his right hand into the magical artifact he carried in his left.

"What happened?" Sylvie asked Vlame, because he had anticipated what had just happened.

This is indeed shocking, but it shouldn't be considered a problem, right?

"I never expected him to do this."

Vlame hadn't actually anticipated that Carlos would wipe out all the escaped demons; she was only considering how she should approach him.

It seems Carlos has changed a lot now.

As she watched the figure in the distance walk step by step toward the city gate, Sylvia couldn't help but swallow hard.

"Do you know him?"

"Remember when I first came here? He was one of my men, riding in your father's carriage." Vlamé paused, then continued, "His name is Carlos. Whether you remember it or not is up to you."

"Why do I get the feeling that you have a lot of issues with him?"

Sylvia complained, then immediately revealed an expression of admiration for the strong:

"He was so cool just now, Vlame Vlame, tell me honestly, isn't he better than you?"

"Who knew, I haven't seen him for five years either." Vlame looked at Sylvia with some helplessness. "I advise you not to fall for him, find someone else."

"Also, call me Master."

She didn't mention that she only knew Carlos a few days better than him, because it was completely unnecessary and would only give Sylvia inappropriate thoughts.

"Hehe, Master is the same age as me, but he looks like an adult now."

Sylvia said with a smile, "Volamere, you don't happen to like him, do you? Just tell me the truth, I won't fight you for him."

"What nonsense are you talking about?"

Vlame couldn't help but rub his forehead, a look of headache on his face, at this nominal disciple who had just called him "Master" and then reverted to his original name.

"If you can maintain your current mindset afterward, then do whatever you want."

"Hmm?" Sylvia blinked; this was completely different from the answer she had expected.

Why didn't Vlame stop him?

Is it really just a normal relationship between them?

Ignoring Sylvia's ramblings, Vlame descended from the city wall and informed the lord that he was going out.

"I know that magician," Vlame said.

"I see... I think I remember him a little. Was he the one who came with you five years ago?" the lord said.

Vlame nodded, and the lord then ordered his soldiers to clear the way.

Passing through the soldiers, Vlamé walked out of the city gate, while Carlos walked towards the gate from the outside. The two soon met in the middle.

"Long time no see," Carlos said, his tone devoid of its former dramatic shifts, his immense magical power flowing freely.

"Long time no see." Vlamé looked Carlos up and down. The other man looked the same as before, but his demeanor and temperament had changed a lot. "I thought you weren't coming back."

"Didn't Celie tell you?"

Vlamed asked, puzzled, "What did you say?"

"She placed a location-tracking spell on us, and I could have removed it at any time during these five years, but I didn't," Carlos smiled faintly. "Besides, if I hadn't come back, wouldn't you have continued to stay here waiting for me?"

He pointed to the city gate in the distance and then said:

"The barrier there is your magic, isn't it? Used to isolate the demons, very good."

"Are you planning to destroy it?" Vlame stared at Carlos. "After all, you're a demon too."

Celia didn't tell me anything about Carlos; what a bad mentor.

She decided not to comb Celia's hair in the mornings for the next few days.

Moreover, Vlamé never expected that the casual remark he made when they parted would be remembered by Carlos to this day.

He's just a demon.

Carlos looked at Vlamé as if she had just said something strange:

"So, as the caster, you can't let me in?"

"Do you think I considered letting demons in when I was creating magic?" Vlame countered.

She would never even consider allowing demons who deceive humans with words to enter the isolation barrier she created.

Over the years, Vlame has not only made great strides on becoming a seasoned mage, but has also achieved remarkable results in his research on demons.

Through actual conversations and research, she discovered that what happened to Carlos was a completely isolated case, and Vlame had never experienced anything similar with other demons.

Once Carlos is excluded as an outlier, she is now even confident enough to begin writing a textbook about the demon race.

"This is troublesome," Carlos asked, stroking his chin. "Can't we take back the magic?"

"You withdrew your magic as soon as you came over. Are you trying to announce your demonic identity to the world?" Vlame pointed out the flaw in doing so.

"Okay, but actually I have another way."

"What?"

However, Carlos simply smiled at Vlamé and walked past her toward the city gate.

Vlame quickly caught up.

Upon reaching the vicinity of the city gate, Carlos reached out and touched the barrier magic that isolated the demons; its light had dimmed considerably due to the recent battle.

"That's really well done," he praised.

The next second, the barrier magic shattered.
