The cheerful, vulgar music contrasts absurdly and jarringly with the bloody and cruel environment.

Lin Chen turned the volume knob all the way up.

The effect was immediate—in less than a minute, a large number of zombies poured out from behind the windows on all floors of the main teaching building, as if a hornet's nest had been stirred up!

Attracted by the continuous high-pitched sound waves, they crashed into the already broken glass one after another, or swarmed out of the stairwell, swaying but with a clear goal as they gathered towards the "sound source" in the center of the square, in numbers far exceeding those before.

"Enough! Enough! There are too many!" Li Ya shouted, feeling a chill run down her spine as she watched the rapidly gathering horde of corpses below.

Lin Chen immediately turned off the stereo, and the jarring music stopped abruptly. But the attracted zombies had already locked onto their target and continued to surge forward, howling.

A new and even more intense battle is about to begin.

Having gone through the previous ordeal, the girls on the platform no longer showed the initial panic on their faces.

Their eyes were focused, and their movements were swift: as soon as their spiritual power recovered slightly, they unhesitatingly unleashed their abilities on the densest part of the horde of corpses; when the magazines were empty, they skillfully replaced them with new ones; when the gun barrels were hot, they took the spare guns that Lin Chen handed them.

Jiang Yingxue kept a close eye on her companions, occasionally releasing a gentle "light of life," the pale green halo dispelling fatigue and maintaining her combat endurance.

Watching them calmly face the life-or-death pressure and cover for each other, a barely perceptible hint of relief flashed in Lin Chen's eyes.

……

However, while they were struggling to clear out the zombies, countless eyes were staring intently at the square from behind many windows on the upper floors of the main teaching building.

These are the surviving students who are hiding inside the building.

Listening to the cheerful music and looking at the densely packed zombies, they felt that something was off about the scene. Why couldn't they help but hum along?

"Down there...down there's an army?!" A boy's voice, hoarse and filled with incredulous elation, came from behind a gap in the curtains of a classroom. "They're actually killing zombies! So many shipping containers...are they an engineering corps?"

"Not the military...it seems like they're all women?" Another girl next to her, whose glasses were almost shattered, squinted, trying to make out what she was seeing. "Look at that one using fire...that's a superpower, right? Like in the movies!"

Hope ignited in their hearts like wildfire, only to be quickly swallowed up by deeper despair.

Zombies roamed the hallways, stairwells, and even outside many classrooms. They were trapped in place, too afraid to even shout for help.

"Water...they must have water..." In the corner, a boy with chapped, peeling lips stared at the water bottles the girls had casually left on the platform, his eyes almost greedy. His Adam's apple bobbed with difficulty. "It's been a day...if I don't have water to drink, I'll go crazy..."

In the next room, however, the situation was subtly different. Several boys, who had developed wicked thoughts after running out of food and were about to rape the girl in the room, turned pale with fright when they saw the "rescue team" appear downstairs, especially since there were quite a few young female members among them.

"Brother Chao... Brother Chao, stop!" A tall, thin boy nervously grabbed the leader's arm and whispered, "Those down there might be a government special forces unit, they have guns and superpowers... If they investigate later..."

The boy called Qiang Ge's expression changed. He looked at the girl beneath him, who was frozen in fear, then glanced out the window. Finally, he gritted his teeth and cursed.

He reluctantly released his grip, then forced a stiff smile: "Sis, sis, I was just... I was just joking with you, don't take it seriously. Life's tough for everyone these days, we should help each other out, right?"

They quickly put on a hypocritical face, humbly comforting and coaxing the girl who had just been threatened, attempting to deceive her and get away with it.

The trapped students are in dire straits. They have been without food and water for more than a day, and their mental and physical strength are on the verge of collapse.

The tap water in the building had long been proven to mutate rapidly if consumed, so no one dared to touch it anymore. Only a very few lucky individuals who carried snacks and bottled water could barely manage to hold on, desperately hoping for the best.

……

However, not all evil is halted by the illusion of "salvation".

In a top-floor classroom located at the back of the building, with no view of the square, the air was so foul it was nauseating. They couldn't hear or see the gunfire or the figures ahead.

There were four boys and four girls in the classroom; in the corner, a girl was curled up with her clothes torn, her bare shoulders and arms covered in bruises, she was motionless, her life hanging in the balance.

Four boys formed a semi-circle, cornering four girls against the wall. The boys' eyes were gleaming with a ferocious, almost animalistic intensity.

"bump!"

With a muffled thud, the boy in the lead, named Wang Qiang, suddenly kicked a short-haired girl in the stomach.

The girl let out a short scream, her body slammed against the wall, and she curled up on the ground in pain.

"Jiang Ting, you damn bitch!" Wang Qiang panted heavily, spitting as he spoke. "I traded half a bag of biscuits for Wenwen to spend the night with me, what the hell is it to you? Who gives you the right to act like a hero here? And now you dare threaten me with your dad? What is your dad anyway! In this world, who the hell cares who your dad is!"

He pointed at Wenwen, who lay motionless in the corner, her life hanging in the balance, and then glared fiercely at Jiang Ting.

The other three girls, cornered against the wall, instantly broke down, huddled together, and wept silently.

The fragile solidarity that had just formed out of shared misfortune crumbled in the face of violence.

Jiang Ting clutched her aching lower abdomen, struggling to stand up, but her legs went weak from the pain and fear: "Wang Qiang, you bastard, your family is nothing but dogs raised by my Jiang family! I will definitely have my dad kill you!"

I kept backing away until my back pressed firmly against the cold, tiled wall, with no way to retreat.

Her clothes were now mostly torn open, revealing her pale skin. She didn't bother to cover herself, but instead stared intently at Wang Qiang, whose eyes, bloodshot and brimming with tears, were fixed on him, his gaze filled with rage as he pressed closer. She finally began to panic.

"Please...please...Brother Qiang...I was wrong...I really know I was wrong..." Jiang Ting's voice trembled uncontrollably, all her pride crushed by the instinct for survival. "I promise you...I'll agree to anything...Don't hit me...Don't kill me..."
